Can someone verify in Windows explorer the size of the interal SD card.
I fear I screwed it up by using Rom Manager to format the SD Card and would like to see if my phone is reporting the full capacity of the card or if it has been partitioned by Rom Manager.

According to my Vibrant, the internal storage seems to be just under 13GB.
Mine is just above 13Gb.. Why do you ask?

Internal SD - 13.03GB
I ask because no program will format my internal SD card.
Froyo no brick does not repartition the device.
I have used ODIN with and without "repartition" and it always just leaves the files and partition structure the same.
Is there an ADB command that will manually restructure the internal SD and format it. From there I should be able to ODIN back in to flash to stock.
Everytime I do the ODIN to get back to stock, no matter what settings or rom I use, it will not repartition.
I also always get a checksum error when I boot into recovery mode.
I was never able to flash a VOODOO rom either.
I get an error that it is not compatible??? Maybe because the NAND has been resized? I did verify that I do not have the large NAND.
maybe someone could help by running a "df" on a root shell (termina, adb shell, etc.) and post the result so I can compare mine to yours

well your pic shows that you have 13GB in your phone, that is pretty much wat everyone have. so no worry. but as your problem strucking you, u guna need a guru to help you out. sorry i can not help you here.

Yeah, figured I need a real android sdk pro to figure out how to get this straight.
I see the 13gb and that looks good, just wondered if all the other partitions are like everyone else.
I think I selected a swap file size from the partition sd in clockwork. Maybe that swap is the wrong size....who knows???

So, I'd previously used RyanZa's OCLF to root, but was too cautious to pull the trigger on anything more. Now, I'm ready. I went ahead and rooted by installing a new update.zip. I installed Titanium Back-up and ROM Manager, and made back-ups too.
Simple question before I move on to custom ROMs and what not... When I back things up in TB and when I make a nandroid back-up in RM, where do those files go?

The stay on your internal 16g memory. If you were to look at the files using your computer you'll now see a titanium folder for example.
It's a good idea to compy the contents of the 16g internal memory to a backup file on your desktop just in case you decide to format your phone by accident.

So, I was looking at my SD Card info through settings and I only have 2.43gb free. I only have 7 songs, not many photos, videos or anything else. I went through my SD and cleaned it up, but nothing changed.
I am running SC 2.5v no theme, and nothing really on my SD card for roms, themes or anything like that. I know this is a stretch, but what could be taking so much memory on the SD. I don't have titanium, i have cleaned my back ups and don't back up my apps... I know. Crazy. Anyone have any ideas. I know you don't know what is on my SD but, anyone have this issue as well?

Mount the SD card on your computer and then select all the files in explorer (turn on show system files and hidden files first!), and check their total size (size and size on disk). If the size on disk for all the files is far lower than the amount reported as being used for the volume, something odd is probably up.
If the 'size on disk' is actually about the same as the amount of used space on the volume, you can then start checking the folders/files to see what's taking up the space.

Another thing you could do is look for hidden files on windows when u open up removable drive then on the upper the upper left hand side hit tools then view then scroll down and hit the bubble that says show hidden files and see if thats what's taking up space

Yeah you can try clearing download cache in rom manager and also, those nanbackups take up a good amount of space if you have a lot of apps and data. I also have 2.40g left. Thats a lot of space unless you are downloading movies lol.

I recently had that issue and went through my sd card and deleted unnecessary files. Old Roms such as superclean 2.1-2.3 I found in multiple places each taking up about 150MB. The main culprit was the nandroid backups. I had 4 backups each took up about a gig. They were in the clockwork mod folder. Im now limiting myself to 1 backup at a time.

I had a lot of lost space on my card a while back. I suspect from removing the card/inserting the card while still mounted and losing clusters.
I simply put the card in my PC. Backed it up to my hard disk (hidden files and all). Formatted the card. Copied the files back. This restored the lost space. (and gave me a backup too which is handy)

I will mount my SD card to my comp and take a look at it. See if I can find hidden files.
Ok. I figures it out. I use a PC for rooting purpose stuff, but put a bunch of files on my SD card from a mac. Well I found out that when you delete files on your sd card from a mac.
It creats a hidden folder call .trash where it stores everything you delete. I used stock "My Files" hit menu when open, click more, setting then select show hidden files. You can delete all .trash or whatever .(folder) there. That is the hidden files mac create.
I hope this can help someone. Once i deleted those folders, I wernt from 1.8gb to 12.58 gb.

Macs also create other dot files when coping data, including a dot file for every file you copy over (it's to store the file's metadata... that's really not useful), as well as some others. Some poster around here has a link in his sig with a 'guide' on disabling those things...
In my /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup folder i have 9 backups. I'm guessing I might want to keep the oldest one in case it has a backup of my stock phone (I'm rooted now) and the latest one. The rest can be deleted, right?

TBH I haven't made a back-up since december 2010 and have deleted all mine long ago. With odin/TiBkup I find it to be an error free process. Restores always seem to have their own issues so I just gave up on them. But yes you can delete all older ones and keep the most current.

^^ same here. Haven't done a nandroid since November. Nandroid backups are a pain. It only takes like 10 minutes to get all your settings back the way you want them after a good ol' clean odin. Plus titanium backup, of course

Agreed. Delete all your old backups. I had about 10 on mine at one pint. They eat about 1gb each
I've been KANGBANGED!!!!!
I've done a Nandroid restore a couple of times now and it went smoothly. A couple of cache and Dcache clears before, wipe data, clear caches again, install ROM, clear caches a couple of times, boot to make sure the ROM functions, then recovery, cache clearing, then advanced restore and restoring just data works for me. I used to use TiBu to restore everything but this has been working out fine, although I'd heard some people had problems with it. Although now that I think about it, I've only done this when re-flashing the same ROM as before. Maybe with different ROMS some things don't play nicely.
Still, I don't need 9 backups just sitting there taking up space, so thanks for the go ahead on deleting them. And I still do TiBu and MyBu backups because I've found you can never have too many resources when things go bad!
This might be a stupid question, but better to ask then regret it when the time comes. I recently purchased a 32 GB Duracell class 4 sd card, I don't really trust the thing as much as I should, it acts strange at times when it comes to apps running off of it and such. Anyways the question is when you preform a nandroid backup with CWM it auto defaults to the backup directory within the CWM folder on the SD card. Is there a way to change the location of this folder to the internal storage on the device itself? Or when it comes time to restore a backup choose your own location? I trust the phones storage so much more then this sketch SD card.

in cwm, there should always be the option to use the internal sdcard (at least with "my" cwms )
I'm using Clockworkmod 6.0.1 to backup. Is this called nandroid backup ? So it backs up about 10-15mins and it's only 10mb size~?? I was backing up custom rom. I also have copy of my original rom wich is a bit more that 1GB tar file. But why now if only take 10mb with 15min backing time?
I was backing data on external sd card. Before backup it had 9gb free space, but after only 7gb. I went to folder where backup is "Computer\GT-I9300\Card\clockworkmod\backup\2012-08-26.18.42.40" and there is only 16.9 mb total of all the files instead of those 2 gb.
Also what give "free nandroid space" option. I did it and it fried about 2gb on internal memory.

Well, it creates a blobs folder of around 2gb with everything, then folders for each rom which are about 10-20mb each. Every new ROM that's backed up only add what's not already there in the blobs file, i.e. it uses stuff from your previous nandroids if nothing new has been added to conserve space.
Instead of having 10 nandroids with all being 2gb, it now only takes a huge 2gb nandroid and only add what's new from newer nandroids.
Kinda hard to explain as I don't really know how to put it.
There are some issues still with this version of CWM. I'd stick with v 5 until they are worked out. They have to do with the way the internal and external SD structure is for the device and both the SII and SIII are effected by it. If you try to restore, it will probably fail.
Done it myself on my SII. I've since learned and stay with v 5 until 6 is solid, and that might be a while. The incremental update feature with blobs is nice, and I hope it works right. It's never worked right for me yet, however. Maybe things are fixed by now. I'm not sure.

One more thing. I just deleted backup folder on external sd card wich was about 1gb with blobs folder (wich was just few kilobaits) and gained 3gb of space back. How i can view those HIDDEN FILES throught pc i always wondered.

I've had a couple of hiccups since v6 too. The backups have failed on me and I think it's since I moved the files (backup. and BLOBS) to a different location (ext sd or pc) prior to doing a full system wipe.
Gutted that I lost stuff as a result because I'd used it successfully lots of times and trusted it to work.
