[Q]Where is our official Android 2.3.5 OTA - HTC EVO 3D

My girl has the Samsung Epic and she received the 2.3.5 OTA update today. I would think that our phones would receive this update before a lot of phones, any body know if we are getting this update or our we SOL.

Why not 2.3.7? Not to be a downer but do you know the difference between 2.3.4 and 2.3.5? Do you have any reason to have to have it? I don't, nor do I care. But if you have good reason to have it, I'm sure you can convince someone to make it happen.

Exactly, if you are rooted and have a custom ROM and want to have a custom ROM you are still gonna have to wait until the Dev's dissect it. HTC has 18 months of support to us, it it even close to being 18 months yet? It will come, besides it will probably take you a week until you are sick of 2.3.5.

We won't get 2.3.5 as we will be receiving 4.0.1 soon.

Your right where is 2.3.7? The only reason I was seeking 2.3.5 over 2.3.4 was the builds from team nocturnal. The graphics, tweaks and speed caught my attention, but everything does not work. My girl's epic doesn't even have any changes with the update.

Thanks. For now all we have is the port for ICS.

2.2 update..

So apparently the myTouch 3G is getting an official 2.2 Froyo update. If so, then what's stopping us from getting it? Correct me if I'm wrong but don't we have basically the same or better hardware than it? Or is it a choice of Verizon's whether or not to give us the update?
You can read more about the MT3G announcement here http://www.droiddog.com/android-blog/2010/06/mytouch-3g-will-see-2-2-soon-not-2-1/
average folks working for free in their spare time are going to take a lot longer then a group of 20 or so software developers at htc being paid full time. so... really chill out, the devs are doing the best they can.
it still is good news though, once it's released i dont think the devs will have any problem at all porting it over.
EDIT: okay, i might've jumped to the wrong conclusion after re-reading your post. I'm just so used to so much bad mouthing and drama that I guess I got carried away.
Anyway, Verizon is really slow at sending out updates. they constantly check and recheck and tell the companies to change so many things that it's really complicated to get them out as quick as t-mobile does. if HTC is making one for the MT3G (hero), there is absolutely no doubt in my mind that they're working on one for the eris as well, they probably just havent announced it because they are waiting for verizon to greenlight it.

I think Verizon will roll out the 2.2 by the end of Q3 seeing as the just popped the official 2.1 out(which from what i have seen is very buggy)
Even if they dont, when the official Froyo for 1.2/Fender is OTA'd the Eris port will fallow VERY shortly(since the 1.2 is basically and Eris in a Magic case)
BTW Hero CDMA=Sprints version of the Magic
Hero GSM= is Tmobile UK "G2"
Just sayin'

Yeah I wasn't badmouthing. I hate all the drama in these forums lately. I know the devs are working on a 2.2 port, but I was just stating that if the MT3G can get it what's stopping us from getting it? I'm hoping Verizon will greenlight it if they are working on a 2.2 update. And if they aren't we'll always have a dev who will make a rom for us.
2.2 will probably be available for rooted Eris within hours of source being posted, though I do hope Verizon doesn't drag their feet for the sake of those unwilling or unable to root.

Agreed. Plus I would think it'd be better to have the 2.2 that was made for the eris to make the rom, rather than just porting it so everything will work. Although it may be just as easy for some people.

From some articles I have read I'm pretty sure we will get an official 2.2 update. It was stated that the jit that is used in 2.2 will actually help to speed up older devices such as ours. So I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and if not then I hope that we get root for leak.
Will it be able to root from 2.1? Maybe get the leaked users out of the gutter?

it's a real good chance that the hboot for a 2.2 rom will be a higher number, so IF verizon/htc go forward with a 2.2 update for the eris, and we can get it rooted? leakers might be able to root.
Lets hope so. I would so love to root my phone. No more jumping the gun for me. I'll be waiting for an official ota or root. No more leaks for me.

HTC Sense is stopping it. Number one reason why I cried when I found out the Nexus one wasnt coming to Big Red
Incredible users will get 2.2 soon enough, just like HTC EVO users.
SenseUI will be just fine with 2.2. Will JITs be modified or adapted for it?
Time will tell.
JIT's are exactly what make it so fast

Certainly, I can say with 100% certainty that nobody knows WHEN for certain.
ICS roms will pop up here as fast as humanly possible once we have source code. As for an official update from Samsung to ICS: given the history with the Captivate getting official gingerbread, don't hold your breath. In fact don't even stay up late waiting for it to get home. You might as well order a pizza and turn on Netflix because you're in for a long, lonely night like an Eagles song.

There shouldn't be any doubt as to whether all the GSII variants will get ICS. They WILL. It is Samsung's flagship phone they are going to support it for a while. Samsung, HTC, Motorola, and Sony Ericsson have signed a new contract with Google to provide more timely updates. Given you may have to wait a few months after source is released to get ICS, after than updates should come very fast. But either way...custom ROMs will probably get you there sooner.

Moto quiet with updates?

I find it interesting how an update hasn't been issued in months, and the leaked update (198_7) never ended up being officially released. I wonder if that means either Moto has given up updating the phone or they are waiting for a newer GB or ICS build to release?
I'm very happy with my Photon with 198_7, although I have received the muted auto issue a few times that I thought Moto had fixed.
This is typical behavior. Updates don't typically happen every couple of months with android. There's a huge gap between them and its always been this way where have you been? Moto isn't focusing on updating gingerbread anymore there aren't major issues with our phone just minor. Their main focus is ice cream on newer devices including the photon. Again, manufacturers have always been silent about updates unless its a pure Google device i.e nexus, nexus s. Moto is hard at work right now to bring us some official ics real soon. My guess is some time before spring break (March-ish) not to forget stupid sprint still has to approve it which could take a month or two :rolls eyes:

Sprint won't be stupid if they wait a month or two testing ICS before an offical OTAP. They've learned from past OS OTAPs that careful QA/QC of OS upgrades are manadtory for the best customer experience.
I for one am not worried whether not we get any updates of gingerbread. The only problem I ever had with this phone with random restart in that was cured with 198_7. As for ice cream sandwich I'm not worried whether not moto pushes out a build. I think ice cream sandwich itself is flawless and should not be skinned. I will be happy with a fully functional cm 9.

Yeah we have a build that works better than most of these other phones that have a build.
You know I love how motorola builds it's own homes not based off release blah I can't think... Everyone should know waht I mean the gingerbread interface google released was way different from waht we got which I think is way better than googles!

might I suggest heading on over to a thread called "development ". Their are tons of posts. Be sure to hit up the gsm side though.

does it matter if you are on 2.3.3, 2.3.4 or 2.3.5?
cause as long as you are on 2.3.x then you're probably in the same boat as waiting for 4.0.x like everyone else
else you'll lose 3D - if that doesn't bother you then there are some ICS and stock roms about in the dev section as already mentioned

Hi, your question really should have been "I'm currently on 2.3.4, are there any further offficial updates available from HTC to upgrade it to 2.3.5?"
It would have got a better response
Also.. it really depends on whom your carrier is on whether they update your phone or not, and secondly, depends on which country you're in as to whether you get updates.
If you really must have the latest and greatest release, then you are going to have to do some leg work yourself and root your phone etc, and put the latest version on there if it isn't available from your carrier or htc directly.
Unfortunately, manufacturers only have so much time and resource to support phones when they have many models. It's a sad fact but that's life, we all wish it wasn't however, and that's where the guys who work really hard in the development section come in. Just head over there (As suggested in the first reply) and see if you like anything )

[Q] point me on the path of ics

i am a proud owner of an xt910 with the current eu 2.3.6 version + rooted and i am a bit confused. there was a leak of ics in the US but has it been converted for us poor eu relatives? Can someone point me to the correct post so i can enjoy a bit of ice cream?
Fraid not - there was a leak for gsm much earlier - but AFAIK the US leak is incompatible with gsm razrs.
is it working well? which thread is it?
just wait. you'll end up doing something stupid to your phone and go through headache after headache like everybody else on this board too impatient to wait for updates. these razrs arent like other phones. keep it stock..trust me.

Couldn't agree more. I've tried all of the ICS builds for the Razr (GSM) and none are quite there yet. It's best just to wait, but if you really can't wait then I suggest you grab an ICS build of CM9, AOKP, or Gummy - the GSM ICS leak was way back in Feb - quite a lot of bugs then.
