HTC Sensation 4G unable to charge - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey I just bought a HTC Sensation 4G. The battery was completely dead. I put it to charge on my phone, it wasnt charging. So i started trouble shooting.
I put the baterry in my brothers, it charged well. Next, I used my charger to charge my brother's battery which now was on my phone. And it wasnt charging, just kinda idling. I got my brothers charger, and same thing, just idling. I was also getting the message "your phone is using more current then the charger is able to deliver. Please power off your phone and close unused application" The guy I bought it from says the phone was rooted. Can someone give me some help on whats going on here? I thought it was the battery, then the charger but none of these seem to be causing the problem. Thanks

[Q] Battery charge failed

Hi, put my Mozart into charge last night, and when i woke up it was dead flat out of battery. What's even worse is i cant boot it up at all, the battery doesnt seem to respond to the charger, and would not turn on at all.
Thank god i had a spare battery and started using that one.
Has anyone experienced this problem before? Im guessing one possibility is that the phone resource usage is higher than the charger can provide, and so it went flat...
If I have my phone connected to my PC it does not charge fast enough if I am using my phone.
It seems as if when using the charger the problem is sorted and it does charge when I'm using my Mozart.
I dislike having to use my Mozart while charging it as the Mozart gets really warm while its charging and being used. Do you have the same issue?
well i was sleeping when the phone was on charge... and the next morning it was dead.... weird huh
Yea mozart gets warm easily when charging and especially when charging and using it, same issue..
Yeah, that is weird... Are you able to charge and use that battery at all or is it a throw away now? Completely dead and can't be charged?
it worked after i used my battery standalone charger
It happened to me once, what i had to do was take the battery out then put it back in. Solved the problem.
OMG what the hell!!!! NOW THE CHARGER DOESNT RECHARGE AT ALL!!!! Maybe its the usb line's fault....
What are the possible reasons that it wont recharge????
Well it could be many things. USB cable, charger unit, faulty / damaged usb port on your phone even damaged battery. Try and rule out the possibilities one at a time.

I experienced this problem several days ago, but I don't how it happened, just like the phone connects wrong wire when be charged. I try it again later, It work OK.

[Solved] Replacement Atrix strange battery problems.

I just got a refurb Atrix as a replacement, and it's got a problem charging the battery (or something).
When I first opened the box, I plugged the Atrix in for a few hours. Unplugged it, tried to boot it up, and nothing. Plugged it back in, and it says the battery is still at 5%.
So I tried it on 3 different outlets, 2 different wall chargers (including the Atrix charger), and hooked up to my PC, removing the battery and SIM card a bunch of times as well. Won't boot while unplugged.
If I leave the phone on the wall charger, I can boot into Android, but the second I remove the charger cable, it dies. If I boot into Android using the wall charger, and leave it up for a few minutes, the battery % will jump from 5% to 100% instantly, but it still dies if I unplug it.
I took it to an ATT store, but they didn't have any replacement batteries. He tried it on his charger, and while it was off, it displayed the battery jumping from %5 to 100%, but that's the only time it has done it.
I've read through a lot of battery problem threads on here, but nothing seems to quite fit the bill. I've already called to have another replacement sent, but I wanted to know if anybody on here has had this problem and knows a possible solution, so I can at least use the phone while I await the replacement. I can't tell if this is a battery issue, phone issue, or, after having read some threads on here, possibly a software issue.
EDIT: Replaced the battery with one from a Droid X2. Worked fine. Battery was the problem.
Have you tried calibrating?
No, I haven't tried calibrating. I left the phone on the charger for a few more hours, and now it shuts off almost immediately when it boots up, even though it's plugged in, so I don't think I'll be able to.

[Q] Charging problem

Hello.
I have really big problem with charging.
When I start to charge it shows that phone is using more than charger can give. After that phone turns off because it goes to 0%.
It started when I tried Viper Sense 4 rom. Then it didn't happen again. Now I have it when I use Coolexe rom and Yoda rom.
Now I can't charge more than 3%. It just doesn't charge. I got into recovery...maybe it uses less. It got to 3% and turned off...again 0%.
Im using LG charger right now because I left my charger in cousins house but it can't be that charger is problem because i've used it for 2 months and problem started just now. It's really annoying. Please reply fast. If you can please PM fix. I can't get internet connection because I don't have PC or phone anymore.
Have you tried a different cable? I have actually send it to htc, they gave me a new battery, but the problem was my cable...
The kernel/ROM you're using can definitely affect how it charges, but I think your problem must be either with your battery or the charger/cable. You've got to at least try a different charger and see what happens. How long is your charge cable?

Phone won't turn on or charge

Hey Guys
So my HTC One that I got around launch has finally decided to crap out on me. It will not charge or turn on no matter what I do. I was watching videos on it when it died, so I went to the charger charged it for a couple of minutes then unplugged it becasue I had to do something. While I was doing the other thing it died again so i went to charge it again. But this time it didn't start to charge. No matter how many cables or chargers I use the phone will not respond to them and no matter what button configuration I use it will not work. I'm praying there's some great fix I just haven't been able to figure out but I'm pretty sure its bricked itself :'(
So if anyone knows a fix please some help here
Another question what is T-mobile's policy on this? If it is truly bricked where do I go from here? Do I call T-mobile and tell them? Will I get a replacement? This is the first phone that has ever crapped out on me so I'm completely lost
It's covered by the warranty. Call T-Mobile, tell them what happened, and they will send you another device with instructions on how to return the faulty one.

How long did you plug it in before trying to turn it on/swapping cords?
This happened to me before, I drained the battery too far and it shut off. Plugged it in, and no response, no LED. Left it there for a while as I went about my business. Came back and the charging LED was on. At that point I was able to turn it back on.
Sounds like you also drained the battery too far. Did you try letting it sit and charge for an extended period of time?
This is a safety feature of devices with Li-Ion batteries because over discharging a Li-Ion battery will cause permanent damage.

I have a problem when my HTC one is not really charging. In several hours I got only 4%. I tested it with battery widget and it barely gets 10-100 mA when charging. Once screen is on, mA goes negative, even though phone is plugged in. Maybe I too need to put it face up...

Update:
It finally got fully charged with ~600 mA input. In my case it appears to be a faulty charger. Check your charger, test it with different wires, maybe it has bad connection? Just a speculation.
