why does cwm dissapear everytime i try to boot into it? - Motorola Photon 4G

I have bootstrap recovery ..after booting into that i install cwm 5.0.2.7
i can boot into it fine one time if i try again it takes me to stock android 3e rec.
Isnt it actually supposed to permanently flash cwm once u install it from bootstrap? Or is the adb cmd method the permanent method?

You need to be unlocked for it to stick.

i am unlocked i installed bootstrap then installed romracer cwm zip in bootstrap then power off it boots in once then if i wanna go back seems it just goes to 3e stock
I knoe in order to use bootstrap u have to plug into ac usb but for cwm u should just have to hold vol down and power then choose android rec and vol up.. ive done this it boots once into cwm then if i try again its just 3e

Since you are unlocked I would recommend trying to flash your recovery using the method describe in this thread.
[Unlocked Only][RECOVERY][2011-11-14] Custom CWM-based Recovery 5.0.2.7-photon3
It is incredibly easy and if you have any questions I am more than happy to help. This is the method I used and I am now running Joker's rom (link in my sig.)

boot loop into recovery?

Hey guys did the superoneclick root and i flashed clockwork mod, went into recovery the signature failed...but weird thing the power button doesn't select anything in recovery then when i pull the batt, and turn it on it goes right back into recover...almost like a boot loop any ideas?
Use heimdall or odin, flash recovery with that, boot straight into recovery where you have your rom of choice waiting as well as non stock kernel. Easiest and fastest way to get up and running

Clockworkmod won't boot into recovery?

Keeping things short:
Update Clockworkmod via ROM Manager like a stupid coon, now it won't boot into recovery mode. I might have deleted my Updater.zip file on accident or the update did that? I'm unsure. Some help would be appreciated, and if someone could upload the Updater.zip file also so I can see if that helps?
Thanks
Am I allowed to self bump?
*does it anyway*

I am in the same boat, so I will bump as well. I unlocked via HTCDev.com if that makes a difference.
On hindsight, should add more to the story:
Unlocked via HTCDev.com.
Flashed cwm-4.0.1.4-shooter.img via fastboot
Flash su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip via recovery
Installed ClockworkMod
Attempted to install recovery via CWM, as it would not let me take a ROM snapshot without it
Now I am unable to boot into recovery mode. Attempted to manually flash recovery with CWM 5.0.1.0, CWM 4.0.1.5, and TWRP 1.0.2 with no success. All attempts to get into recovery mode bypass and go straight into the normal mode boot.
just like a dumb ass I did the same thing u guys did exactly now the **** don't work it won't go into recovery now I'm sitting here like ain't dis a *****
Are you trying to boot into recovery through rom mananger or by holding vol down and power button? Have you tried battery pull?

Did that, it works now, flash the older 4.0.1.4 of CWM to fix, all other versions/other recoveries don't work.
@titans10 yes, we did those steps..

I think too!
Because I flashed official recovery-clockwork-4.0.1.5-shooter.img and
recovery-clockwork-5.0.1.0-shooter.img to my phone via fastboot
and no ones works.
So I think official clockwork recoverys only available for cdma EVO 3D at the
moment.Same for TWRP recoverys.
Only recovery which works for EVO 3D gsm,I think,is
cwm-4.0.1.4-shooteru.img,which made by Revolutionary.

I had same issue. I did battery pull and than pressed the power down button and battery to manually go into recovery.

Try open Rom Manager Again, and Select the First option, to Flash Recovery Again! If you have a WiFi connection you can Connect to, Try that Before Flashing the Recovery Again... Sometimes if you have a shaky signal you'll get a Bad Download!
GoodLuck!
Today is opened my Rommanager and try to flash cwm and now there is also a GSM version. And I can say it works like a charm.
CWM recovery 5.0.2.0 for GSM EVO 3D available in ROM Manager actually. However, it has the famous power-off-no-charging bug.

[Q] phone stuck at boot screen

some time ago i rooted my galaxy ace and tried to install the clockworkmod for backup. i understood that i need to reboot to stock recovery mode to install it but i couldnt find the option to install clockworkmod by selecting the file so i chose to rename the clockworkmod file into update.zip and updated in the stock recovery mode. after that i couldnt get back into recovery mode again when i pressed power+home button
awhile ago, i accidentally pressed reboot to recovery in CWM and my phone is stuck at the samsung boot screen ever since then. any help?
Does you're phone keep booting into cwm recovery? ?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
Have you tried flashing with Odin?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
it doesnt keep booting, it just stays at the samsung screen. odin doesnt work. probably cause im not sure how it works.
to put it more accurately, once i renamed the clockworkmod zip file into update.zip and update thru stock recovery, i couldnt access both the cwm or stock recovery screen.
It's because u applied the clockworkmod as update.zip in a 2.2 recovery and after that u can no longer enter Recovery and when u choose "Reboot to Recovery" in CWM the phone just stuck in boot logo forever.
Solution: Download Odin and lastest stock 2.3 rom, Volum down + Home + Power and flash the rom though USB.
u can now enter the system and recovery again but everything will be lost.

[Q] Unable to enter CWM recovery

Hello
When I press "Reboot into recovery" in CWM the phone reboots and I then navigate to "Android Recovery" using the volume down key, but when I press volume up to enter Android Recovery I just get an exclamation mark in a triangle along with a little android.
I'm running a stock rom the phone is rooted and the bl is unlocked as far as I know.
Android version 2.3.6 4.5.141

Have you actually installed the cwm recovery…the latest is 5.0.2.0
Of course.
Sounds like you might still have stock recovery loaded. I'd go through and try and install CWM again.

Yea i agree. You should go into rom manager and flash clockworkmod recovery. Also under that option it tells you the current recovery you have and the latest version available.
Well I've just got it to work, no idea why, but after multiple tries(including reboots) I decided to turn the phone off, and now when I turned it back on it works...
I have much the same issue however the error mine shows is "Failed to boot 2"
OK u have flashed the recovery via rom manager but nothing then are u sure u have unlocked bootloader cos until i had unlocked bootloader i was unable to flash recovery and if u do have unlocked bootloader then flash recover via fastboot.
I had the same problem with my wife's atrix. I unlocked the boot loader and flashed cwm. It worked at first but then I got the triangle. I found that the problem is with the stock [email protected] rom. It seems to overwrite cwm after a reboot. After I flashed another rom the issue enter away.

[Q] Android recovery 3e to 2e?

I read that when you have 3e it doesn't allow you to have CWM. I can only access CWM through ROM manager. If I try to get to CWM with power and vol up, I always get into the default android recovery 3e which leads me to ask, how do I downgrade to 2e?
Are you sure you have a Photon 4G?
Positive

To get to Android recovery you need to press Vol down and power, then go through the fast boot menu by pressing Vol down about 5 times. It should now say Android recovery, press Vol up and it should go into cwm. Works every time for me

pwr+Vol up gives you rsd protocol or fast boot mode.depending on what state your phone is.. power + volume down gives you a few options starting with fast boot then scroll with vol dwn button and selecting with vol up button. On the photon. OP sounds strange as how he gets to recovery lol

then you don't have CWM installed. grab one of the listed ones from here http://www.motosunfire.com/clockworkmod-recovery/ and then install it via moto-fastboot or from the rom managers recovery. then you're good to go. highly recommended by everyone would be jokers v3 or v4 recovery.

if you have cwm installed on your phone and you goto recovery mode and it brings up the standard android recovery then your recovery will not allow cwm to run on your phone untill you downgrade the android recovery
when you goto recovery at the top you will probably see this android recovery (3) if so you need to download gingerbread and flash it with odin after that you should be good . i had the same problem as you and thats how i fixed it

Thanks. A very late reply and I just went with TWRP instead and had no problems. I'm getting the S4 today but I appreciate your answer and I'm sure it will help others in the future.
