So what do you guys think, is the new Tab 7.0 worth the extra $100 over the now $300 Flyer? I just got a kindle fire and am less then impressed, so will be returning it. I don't mind spending the extra $ on either tablet, just want it to be good.
Im leaning towards the Tab at this point, the specs are allot more up to date and I have 0 interest in the pen (I actually think I would like the Flyer more if it didn't have the pen stuff and that little green button wasn't there being distracting, no idea why lol).
But there isn't a dedicated 7.0 Plus forum yet so I thought id ask you guys! Thanks
We don't need another thread about this.

Ok so I can get a discount on a few different Tablets and I am wondering which is the best bang for the buck? All these are new in box devices and the 3G model of all not the Wifi only versions.
$227 G-Slate
$350 Galaxy Tab 10.1
$250 Galaxy Tab 7 Plus
$225 T-Mobile Springborad
Or a dark horse candadite the HTC Flyer for $300 new from Best Buy (I can't get a discount on it but I'm reaaaaaly partial to HTC and I think Scribe is reaaaly cool!)
I'm not too sure I like the form factor of 10 inch tabs they just seem too big for me but idk... any advice?
61 views and no one even has an opinion? Lol! Come on guys I can't make up my mind I just know I want one! I like the Flyer the most but the others I have the ability to bill to my phone bill which is nice!

I would go with one of the galaxy tabs. I perfer 10 inch, but some people think 7 fits better in hand. They probably have the best user experience and it feels snappy and responsive. They are also crazy thin. Discount aside, those tablets are the best!

Thanks man I appreciate the opinion. I was leaning toward the 7plus if I didn't get the Flyer. Then the G-Slate became avalible so now I'm torn again. So far Im thinking Flyer, 7plus, G-slate.
Hi Guys.
Well after selling my iPad 1 a few momths ago I had some money spare for a Android tablet. The iPad 1 lagged like crazy - it was driving me nuts! Also, I bought a Nexus S at xmas and put ICS on it, which I really do like. I love Chrome Beta too!!
Initially I had my eyes on a Galaxy 10.1 and I was going to pull the trigger on a 2nd hand one a few weeks back but decided against it at the last minute. Also, the Newton Rings problem really put me off too and where the hell is the ICS update??
I was set on waiting for the Nexus tablet, but delays and lack of real estate (its rumoured to be only 7" put me off.)
So I needed a quick fix as I was missing a tablet badly. Saw a 2nd hand Tablet S and snapped it up after reading that ICS had just been released.
Should receive it on Wednesday. I'm a bit unsure of the book design but hopefully it will win me over.
How is the screen compared to the iPad 1? I read the S is LED compared to the IPS of the iPad.
Thanks.
congrats man!!
and i dont know much about screens but i know they used the true black display the one they currently use on their TV's which suppose to show more vibrant colors..
My opinion is that the screen trumps even the ipad 2. Looks washed out when compared to a SAMOLED+ screen (eg galaxy s2) though. But still pretty nice.
Not sure how Sony decided on the name true black though... :| I couldn't possibly think of a less-accurate name to describe it. Just to me, black is black, not a white light flooded greyish shade. But hey w/e
I prefer the Sony Tablet S screen over the Samsung which looks too blue/green - very un-natural.
Good call passing up that Galaxy tab. I had bought one just before the Tablet S came out and it had a bad case of those dreaded Newton's rings. Luckily I was able to swap it.
I love the screen on the Tablet S. I think the color representation trumps the ipad 2, but it doesn't get very bright.
Hope you're happy with it.
Thanks for replying guys
I'm happy the screen gets the thumbs up from the community.
How are peoples experiences with the battery?
Is it easy to root and load a rom?
Anyone in the UK got the OTA buy any chance?
Cheers.

well my personal experience i usually get less than a day on my tablet since i always using it so much maybe like 5-6 hours tops!
rooting the device seem pretty straight forward if you follow the directions giving by the people posting it on the sony tablet s general forums its easy but i chose not to root my sexy lol.. and im from the US..
Hello friends!
I am kinda thinking for buyin this S1 in few days, but only problem I am feeling right now is less Dev support, no custom roms, I seriously visit here everyday almost 50 times a day to check if any progress.
Of course I am a die hard SONY fan, other devices are not even option for me.
I only want to know if this tablet (S1)
1) has exmorR
2) can its framework be edited to create themes
3) possibility for custom roms
4) confused in what is the new feature that direct access to sd card? can't we install anything from sd card?
5) did anyone try MAME4droid on this tablet
thanks!!
Hi all.
The postie has just dropped my tablet round!
First impressions are positive. Its not as plasticky in the hand as I was fearing. Seems nice and solid.
Just charging it now before I switch it on.
Can't wait for some ICS lovin'
It was 2nd hand so how would I wipe it like its come from the factory??
Cheers.
Hey all,
My Jetstream was stolen on the weekend, and I need to get a new tablet. However, I want one with an active (aka pressure-sensitive) stylus, as I had grown quite attached to that feature on the Jetstream.
My initial reaction was to get a Flyer or another Jetstream, but I started wondering if there's a more popular tablet (aka one that has/will get ICS and/or JB) that has the same functionality.
Thoughts anyone?
Lenovo Thinkpad is an option - it also comes with an active N-trig stylus. They already have ICS. But I am not so very sure of the pricing and the hardware. Other option would be to wait for the Note 10 inch which I have no idea about but seems to be well spoken of like most other Samsung devices. I found the Jetstream to have the best hardware combo - only drawback as you know the software development which seems to have developed some interest as of now. If i were in your situation, would have gone for a Jetstream again because I like the Sense UI better than others.
Cool, I didn't know about the Lenovo... although a guy I sometimes work with has one, and it's thick and ugly.
I was just reading about the Samsung Note 10.1 and it looks awful tempting, I think I'll probably hold out for that. I've got an HP TouchPad with CM9 on it that I can cope with for the next few weeks. (And hopefully the Nexus 7 spurs Samsung to drop the retail price of the Note 10.1 down from the rumoured $500.)

Well I do hope you get what you want. I would have personally re-chosen the Jetstream without another thought especially in view of the price cuts that we have seen for it of late.

We didn't get the price cut in canada, it's still $800 from Rogers. I picked up a used Flyer for $150, which will be a nice stop- gap until the Galaxy Note 10.1 or htc's rumoured jelly bean tablet comes out.

i'd consider microsoft slate if i was looking for a tablet nowadays..
Hey everyone, I'm in search of a new 10" tablet.
Doing research, I've greatly considered the Nexus 10, Asus TF700, and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1.
The Tab 2 doesn't meet the specs of the other two, so eh.
I've also read of problems with the others, like the light bleed on the nexus 10, and random reboots on the TF700. Both seem to be pretty common.
Now, what would you consider to be a great 10" tablet, with few issues (at least compared to others), and $500 or under? Top of the line types.
I'm getting a crap ton of money friday, so im hoping to make a decision by then so any input is greatly appreciated!
Nexus 10 prolly the best atm. If u wait a few months for the CES lineup of tablets to go one sale, theyll prolly be worth it. Thats what im doing, as the google nexus 10 is supposedly getting a hardware upgrade soon.

Unfortunately every tablet has it's pros and cons. This almost comes down to personal preference as what one person might consider a problem another person would not
"Hello World"
Hello,
Looking into investing in a little cheap tablet for general usage (Internet browsing, social networking, emails and spotify/netflix), wanting something with better specs than my phone so I'd be happy with a 1.5ghz dual core 7" tablet and 1gb ram would be nice. Looking to spend well under £100 and from a well-known site/company and not wanting to import or buy from abroad so UK only would be great. Development wise, it'd be nice to have it rootable with a microsd slot (for A2SD purposes) and custom ROMs and recovery would also be nice to have.
Thanks,
Curtis.
its going to be difficult to find what you want in that price range. im not sure whats coming out in the near future but the nexus 7 is still probably the best bet. (for that price)
no, isnt, if you like quad core yeah, but if you know how to manage it, the kindle fire hd for 200 dollars and the kindle fire 2 generation for 160 or 150 dollars

So well under $130. its not impossible but devs dont support crazy off brand tabs, which he stated he wants.
Dude. Dont waste you money and regret it later! spend around 150 pounds and get the nexus 7. worth every penny. it has aweseome dev. support. will get latest versions of android etc.
Get china tablet that unknown brand.
Just get a nexus 7 man. You'll love it.

Or you could wait and get the new nexus 7... it should come out in April when Google releases the new Android platform.
I personally am in the market for a tablet as well but I am looking into the Note 8 whenever it comes out. What do you guys suggest? Note 8 or new Nexus 7?
Thanks for the replies.

Well, there's no word yet on what the new n7 will be, or if they're even going to make a change to it. However, i would say get the n7 now if you need a tablet now, or wait until the next n7 releases, and buy the "old" n7 at a discounted price, since that's probably not far off.
Don't get the kindle. It's got much less processing power, and Amazon isn't going to support it for aosp releases, so you're stuck with developer releases only. I'm still on the xoom, which is working well, but with jelly bean there's a lot of functionality i've had to give up.

Im probably going to wait for the Note 8 since I have the Note 2... samsung is pulling an apple and centralizing all their products to work together so it may be a bonus (or a curse?) to get the note 8... although its screen won't be super compared to other tablets !

This one seems to have all you're looking for.
In my opinion,Nexus 7 is the best choice and if Google will release the new Nexus 7, the present one will down the price. The great chance to get a cheaper but very great small tablet.
