You can update. If you are still doubtful, just reflash your stock rom and then update.

Could anyone help me find either the stock plain HC version (that's upgrade-able to TW) or the stock tw version that the p7510 WiFi US retail (from Best Buy) now ships with? I've been looking around for hours and I've tried a few, right now I have HMJ37.UEKG4 from the "look here first" thread and I don't think it's the right version.
Any help is appreciated!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
To clarify...I just need this so it will get all future updates from samsung. (as it is as retail)
edit: bleh nvm..was using the wrong file from http://droidbasement.com/galaxy/sys-backup/hc_31/
Okay actually after installing that, it upgrades to version version HMJ37.UEKG4 p7510UEKG4...but now there's not another update. (so no touchwiz?)
I need to thing ready by tomorrow so thanks if you can help!
That is the IO firmware I think, so yeah, it's wrong. Haven't seen another link for stock HC retail. I have a Nandroid backup of a stock, untouched Tab before the TW update (from my own Tab), but I have no idea how to make it an ODIN or CWM file.

Alright well...since I'm kind of panicking at the moment because I can't get this thing to update properly, would you mind uploading the nandroid?
Otherwise I don't know what to do...I think I was on the stock firmware before the TW update but it only gave me a 10 MB update to the version I said above. Any help is highly appreciated
This is a very interesting question. I wonder why the stock ROM doesn't seem to be available?
Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt.
Or maybe there's a version with TW? Because I don't think I screwed anything up, maybe the TW update just isn't available anymore?
EDIT: Okay so the stock files put me on version HMJ37.UEKF3...then I get a 11.22MB update to HMJ37.UEKG4. After that I get no more updates, but I really need to get this baby back on stock TW by tomorrow.
I found one here that works with all future samsung updates, phew...

Ah nvm...that just causes soft bricks...man I'm f*cked.

That is a zip file containing ODIN and ODIN-flashable KME (the latest official US WIFI Retail ROM with Touchwiz). BTW, I got this from the Overcome ROM thread in Development, so all credit goes to those guys for providing it.
I'll have to upload my Nandroid tomorrow as my Tab is dead and I'm heading to bed.

Thanks that actually seems to have done the trick, not sure if future updates will work on it but this will do.

Since this is the official US WIFI Retail release, you should get future updates no problem.
That "Look Here First" thread really needs to remove that version of KF3.
If you still need nandroid backup of stock US retail wifi tab, here's the link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/41710083/CWM Backup/2011-09-13.15.19.39(3.1).rar
This is UEKF3 (non touchwiz).

Reboot to the recovery and wipe data/cache/dalvik and reboot. There shouldn't be a password now.

I have used CWM 4.0.0.4 to create this nandroid backup. So i guess this should work with Overcome CWM also.
Hello, anyone know if we can "upgrade" to 2.4.5 without having to start from scratch installing all apps again, etc?
(I have used Titanium backup and do not like it...)
Thanks.
2.3.5???? More than likely since 2.3.5 isn't offical yet.(unless your using an electricfy) your gonna have to wipe system data. Titanium backup is your best bet. And if you don't like TB cause you have to reinstall one by one, ithink the paid version does it for you.
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk 2
Yes, 2.3.5 works just fine - didn't have to do anything at all with apps.
Will have to re-root with Torpedo.

Geez - hate it when people just make up stuff. Did NOT have to wipe sys data. PLEASE don't post if you do NOT know what you are talking about!
Those of you who did it without wipe - would you mind posting a link to the directions and the files you used?
just flash the update listed in the development section. flash it with whatever recovery you have. simple. no need to wipe anything.

Thanks for the help.
So what is better about 2.3.5 aside from the video camera?

I was part of the 2.3.5 soak test since I don't care about a locked bootloader.
But, I'll say that it was largely a waste of time. Nothing about 2.3.5 worth doing. Don't know why Moto wasted time and resources on it.
Yeah, it wasn't that big of a deal. I wish it had been ICS!
Yeah, I am back on 2.3.4 now after all that.
Just got the update. Hope it's not a re-post.

You need the stock recovery on there. You can't have a custom recovery installed.

i just got this update too - anyone have a detailed spec of the update?
well i have just RUU'ed the phone to stock and doing the 1.17 update, I have noticed that when I unlocked the boot loader and rooted I lost the free EA games on it and a few stock apps that I put back on (except the ea free games), also got a lot of calender app errors, I hope this update sorts it. Also until the mods and stuff are more updated etc i will keep it unrooted, as I thought to myself why do i need it rooted as im not flashing roms every day etc.
Plus not having an external SD hurts every time as I have to remember to back up all the stuff before flashing etc >.> <.<

I have a TMobile P769 and I am on 10E, I can't update to 10G or to JB because my phone gives the message "verification failed" after downloading a 24mb OTA package. Anything I can do to fix this?
Are you rooted?
Sent from my LG-P769 using XDA Premium HD app
yes. although i've done a factory reset twice for other reasons since root. however, I still appear to be rooted.
I had the same problem when 10g came out. I never solved it I just used off line flashing to get to 10g. Have you uninstalled any apk's that came on stock rom??
Yeah, I've uninstalled quite a few stock APKs, however, offline flashing doesn't seem to work with my phone for some reason. Maybe I should try again.

You may have to re-install all of the stock .apks before updating. I remember this being mentioned in another post somewhere because it is looking for all of those stock programs to update. There's a post around here somewhere with a link to a .zip file with all of the .apks and instructions about where to put them.
I'm in the same boat, but I have been trying to hold out for the new JB release. As soon as someone gets that working with Apps on SD I'll make the switch.
Maybe you already knew all of this and were hoping for an easier solution... in which case I will join you in hoping that someone has one.
would you happen to have a link to that thread haha?

I'm running 5.0.1 LS990ZVC unrooted. What do I need to do to root my device? Like, which guide is right for me?
---------- Post added at 12:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:06 PM ----------
How do I root my Sprint G3 if I am using the stock rom running 5.0.1 with LS990ZVC update?
This thing had a nasty battery leecher that according to battery usage under settings was from wifi calling which would never activate even though it would switch on and locate me. I froze the service/app and thought i got rid of the problem... Still there so i ended up reflashing the entire rom and running ##rtn# to reset everything. Now it works so far...
