guys,
What a sad day!
Would like to have some advice that should i get another S2 instead of G.nexus ? Does anyone have the two phone which can give some comment?
Probably will get a phone on January 2012 but really need comment from you guys.
thanks!
Didn't you have samsung dive setup on your last phone?
If I were you I'd get a galaxy nexus. Just because it would be something new to play with.
my last custom rom was CM nightly 117 from codeworkx and it doesn't have samsung dive on it.
but our s2 spec and performance quite comparable to g.nexus...
Nexus quite tempting !

As far as I can tell:
- Nexus gives you a 720p screen, but it's Pentile.
- You lose a microSD slot
- Camera is lower resolution at 5MP, but faster. Video recording stays the same, may not have the stuttering problem some S2 sensors suffer from.
- It's a Google phone!
- Lousier GPU.
Hi.
I'm going to change my Android phone (a LG Optimus 2x) and I have to choose between these 3 candidates: Samsung Galaxy Nexus, Sony Xperia S and HTC One S.
After looking at the specs of all of them, I think this is like:
- CPU: One S > Galaxy Nexus ~= Xperia S
- GPU: One S > Xperia S > Galaxy Nexus
- Storage: Xperia S > Galaxy Nexus ~= One S
- Camera: After looking at some reviews, I don't dare to say anything. One S looked pretty good, Xperia S looked pretty good too (the best video recorder I'd say), and Galaxy Nexus didn't look bad at all (but in dark photos in interiors).
The CPU is important to me (I like my phone to work smoothly), GPU is not so important, storage is not very important (I prefer higher speed than higher capacity), and camera is not important too (I take a few photos, but that doesn't mean I don't care if the phone has a crappy camera).
I hope you can help me choosing
Thanks!
personally, i would choose the one s.
I love the new sense 4 ui and i think it's the one which will work more smoothly.

Totally agree!!! ONE S! ownage!! but,[yeah] xperia S pretty good too heee~~~..
HTC One S is pretty good. The Qualcomm S4 is very powerful (more than Xperia's S3), the Adreno 225 is pretty good too, and the One S has more recent hardware than Xperia (like the bt module).
I've seen some benchmarks about the One S internal storage (NAND) and it's pretty fast, specially reading, and that's good.
I forgot to say in the first post but Android 4.0 for me is very important (I know the Xperia S will be updated soon), and I'll use this phone a lot to code apps.
At the moment, I would say the ranking is:
1º HTC One S
2º Galaxy Nexus
3º Xperia S
Thanks for your replies!
Is there any noticeable difference between the GNexus and One S screens? I ask it because of the different (but similar) resolutions (nexus has higher res but higher size too) and I could not see both phones powered on.

Well i havent tried One S,but i have to say i tried Galaxy Nexus and its amazing, great specs, great design and its flagship phone so its going to be supported by xda and google for some time.I cant describe how good impression of that phone i have, its amazing
If you want to use custom roms and root, I'd recommend you the nexus. It's community is good and you don't have to bother about hboot, s-on, s-off and so on.
You should look at Something Quad-Core, such as: HTC One X, Huawei Ascend D Quad, Huawei Ascend D Quad XL, ZTE Era, etc. Which would be better.

I prefer a powerful dual core than a quad core (except if that quad core has very powerful cores, to work at best performance at any workload). A quad core in a smartphone, from my point of view (as a computer engineer), is not worth, at the moment (more battery usage, not so efficient...).
I'm a coder so I'll use the phone to test my apps. And I like to 'play' with it (custom roms and stuff... I used to code stuff for the Linux kernel).
One S

i'll go with xperia s because the camera is damn good...
i think about future Custom Rom that can be apply on it since freexperia teams are working greatly to build it.
more over, the battery for xperia s quiet good
im sorry if im mistaken..
Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a non-huge Android phone - I'd like to be able to use it with one hand. I'd prefer 3,7", but I think 4.0" is acceptable too. What could you recommend?
I need:
1) Good and stable WiFi Tethering (Hotspot, not peer-to-peer access point).
2) Speed - I'm upgrading from a HTC Hero, which even after rooting with VillainROM isn't really the fastest...
3) Removable battery - so One V isn't an option
What I have found so far:
• Sony Xperia Sola - but I heard it has bugs in tethering on Android 4.0.3
• Motorola ATRIX 4G - seems to have really great specs, very popular here on xda, but it's 4.0", also I don't know about the crapware that Motorola includes?
• Samsung Galaxy S Advance - 786MB whereas the Atrix 4G has 1024MB, will this be noticeable? otherwise the specs are the same, but the Galaxy has a nice AMOLED screen. Unfortunately also 4.0"
• Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 - 3.8" so pretty much the size I'm looking for, but only 0,8GHz CPU, whereas the S Advance has 1,0GHz. Will this be noticeable?
• Nexus S - 4.0", pure Android which is nice, but the specs are much worse than of the Galaxies...
What would you guys advice? Thanks for your help in advance!

The Atrix is nice, the screen isn't too big, and neutrinoROM can make it lightning fast.
Edit:Motoblur is actually useful, and you can make a lot of use of the features included, there's not much bloatware preloaded.

Have anyone bought the Onda v818? I am quite happy with my onda v972 but now I try it is a bit too big and heavy, would be nice if I can have a smaller one, any reviews?

I bought a V818. I can tell you right now, I'm getting rid of it. There's no reason why a modern tablet wouldn't have Bluetooth. Unacceptable. Also, at only 1ghz, it's not on par with today's competition. It was a bit laggy at times. On the bright side, it is very thin and light. The viewing angles for the ips screen is excellent. It doesn't fade like the cheaper tablets

Yes.. i bought one.. had it for 5 days and ive been customizing like crazy.. I personally like it.. its true that its a drag that there is no bluetooth.. meh... i personally dont need it..
Pros: Super light weight, Viewing angle is awesome, display is awesome, speed is good ( with tweaks ), Sound is ok..comes rooted
Cons: No bluetooth, only 1Gb of RAM (but with some tweaks its pretty good) cannot install some google apps like talk, google plus (however, Onda Sent me a note stating that they are looking into that.
There is a guy at ARCTABLET that has done a custom ROM based on Onda's and removed alot of the bloatware.. Also you can try to supercharge it (search SuperCharger in XDA forum) and it will speed it up.
heres the link: http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/onda-v818/
Personally i installed the APEX launcher and removed the stock launcher.. and it runs smooth..
is 1gb of ram really that bad, I am using onda v972 now, it is kind of too big so thinking to change to a v818 or ramos x10 pro.. but both have 1gb of ram anyway. ..
v818
please can df186 post details of the tweaks you made - very disappointed with the tablet using v2 firmware trying new update tomorrow from arctablet otherwise I'll try and return - my TP with cm10 is awesome compared to this - just a bit too heavy for the wife . lol

Hello everyone,
I know there are many question similar to mine. However, I did my research and I'm still confused.
I am using a galaxy s1 i9000. I wanted to get the nexus 4 but I was shocked when I found out that the Asus padfone 2, which has almost the same hardware, scored higher in benchmarks with stock android without heating up or reaching a threshold, so it was hard to choose a phone that required modding and development to work at its best.
So, my question is, which phone is the best when it comes to:
1- android development support.
2- gaming (without the need to tinker with the phone)
3- (not so important) looks.
PS: I know the s3 is good, but it's too plastic-ish and doesn't feel right. And the new HTC one is really ugly.
I wouldve gotten the padfone 2 if it had some android support, but it doesnt.
Thanks and sorry for the long post.
