I am looking into buying a new phone outright at full price and was wondering what are everyone's opinions on this debate.
I was looking at the Nexus and the biggest advantage seems to be the larger HD screen, that and the fact that it has a stock ICS build on it, without Samsungs TouchWiz that I hate so much. But, after looking at the F1 GalaxyNexus rom, I am almost turned more towards the S2, despite the fact that it has a lower resolution screen.
Now, does ICS with F1 GalaxyNexus on the GS2 perform just as well if not a little better than that of ICS on the Nexus? Overall, the GS2 has an 8mp camera, also, from looking at review and whatnot, it seems to be slightly more responsive than the Nexus despite very similar if not the same specs.
Basically, all I want is to get a few opinions on which you guys would choose, GS2 with F1 GalaxyNexus or a stock Galaxy Nexus.
Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
i would say go with galaxy nexus if you cant be bothered with bugs and want timely updates(though s2 will get it once xplod completes his kernel)
go with gs2 if you want a powerful phone that can handle future apps and games without a problem
winner : GS2

I am switching to Android as I currently own a Samsung Focus with Windows Phone 7.5. Don't get me wrong, Windows Phone 7.5 is a great OS, but it is not customizable even in the slightest. I previously had an HD2 and LOVED putting different ROMs on it whenever I got bored with how the phone was. So, what I am saying is that I'm getting into Android simply for the ability to customize and tinker with anything that I want. So bugs will not really bother me. Thank you for your reply!
good to have you here
here are the remaining bugs that team hacksung is currently working to fix
the usual stuff is working http://teamhacksung.org/wiki/index.php/CyanogenMod9:GT-I9100:Nightly:Known_issues
this is the cyanogen mod 9 thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419102
i would suggest that if u want a aosp rom stay on cm9 because bugs are fixed on it first than the other rom makers patch their builds
As its a question its in the wrong forum . Buy a Nokia .

I'm actually pretty happy with my current phone, but I'm thinking about getting a new one anyways, if I can find one that suit my needs. Could someone give me some input on which phones to look at from the wish list below?
Hardware keyboard is a plus, but not an absolute must
Approximately the same size as the HTC Desire Z ((119 x 60.4 x 14.16 mm) a little bigger might be okay, but not any smaller. Small bezel is a plus as it need to fit in both big and small hands)
Fast! Good CPU and GPU is a must
Stable daily driver Android 4.x available. Big developer community is a huge plus.
Must be easy to root and flash (I still have nightmares from when I tried flashing my girlfriends Samsung Galaxy S and had to manually repartition the internal phone memory and I still hate Sony for the ****ty X10i mini pro)

Sorry about that. Forgot I wasn't in the Q&A forum anymore.

Galaxy S2! Need I say more.
Or S3 if you don't mind the cheapness build feel.
After reading the comparison on the link below, I think the HTC One S might be more of my kind of phone. What do you think about the two?

Hi guys
I currently have a SGSII t989 and I love it except for little things I noticed, one is this behaviour [1], I'm planning selling it to buy another cellphone with similar specs. What I'm looking for is:
- 1.2 GHz processor or more
- 1GB RAM
- TV output (via MHL or dedicated port)
- [Desireable] Removable battery (I know Droid Razr doesn't have it)
- MicroSD slot
- Screen range: 4.3" - 4.5"
- Good ROM's support
- Price range: US 250 - US 300
I'm considering buy one between Motorola Droid Razr, SGSII i777 (AT&T's) and HTC Rezound and want to know your thoughts being Droid Razr owners. I have some questions for you:
- Is this device bootloader locked? (I had a Defy and it had that issue)
- Is the non-removable battery an issue for you?
- Have you tried GTA Vice City? In my T989 it doesn't work apparently because of processor-chipset combination. I want to use the most of games that the device can support and this is one of my favorites games
- Will you recommend this phone?
- If you use CM 10.1, does HDMI out working?
Thanks in advance

- BL was locked, but no need to worried about that.
- Not an issue actually,if you buy a RAZR MAXX,you can use for more than 4 days with D-WIZ ROM.
- Almost every game works.I tried GTA,Real Race,MASS EFFECT,Tample run,doodle jump,Angry brids,Fruit ninjia,they all works perfectly.
- It's a great phone.
- HDMI seems not working with CM10.1,but you can use both STOCK SYSTEM and CM10.1.No need to be worried.

Hi 我顶你个肺隔膜,
i have even the opportunity to by an razr droid.
Actually i use my HD2 since 4 years nearly. There was a very huge dev community. And i got everything to configure.
Now my question:
Is there a rom without the motorola implemented stuff, like a pure android rom without modifications of motorola, which runs stable?
(On HD2 i had 100s roms but only some roms worked without problems and with all functions and features.)
Go for iut

For the specs you need. I'd suggest it a go..You can buy it and won't face a problem.
As for your questions,
Yes.! The BL is locked but that ain't an issue for me.
Non-removable battery doesn't cause any problems.
Yes.! And it works..so does most of the games.
Already answered.
CM 10.1 is in development state right now so many things might not work. You gotta wait for a stable build.

Hey Guys, not to thread-jack, but I've also been considering the Droid RAZR and, like OP, had some questions so I thought I'd just post them here.
I was wondering if there are any general hardware problems with the phone. For example, I used to have the T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant, and it had a hardware bug where the GPS basically never got a solid lock, I also had a Motorola Defy, and I heard some people had problems with the earpiece sound quality, although mine didn't have that problem. So I guess my question is, are there any flaws in the design of the phone that can't be fixed by software?
Also, how do AOSP-based ROMs run on it? I saw that CM10.1 has a couple bugs, of which the random reboots is the only one that worries me (though I'm sure the devs are hard at work on it!) but is there another version of CM, like CM10 (ICS) that runs better? Are the reboots actually often?
Finally, is anyone here using the XT910 on AT&T? if so, is it detected by AT&T's system as a smartphone? I'm using a Lumia 710 right now that doesn't get detected, so I'm not being forced into getting a data plan, and I'd like to stay that way .
Thanks a lot in advance!, and sorry for the noobish questions, I'm still relatively new to the Motorola scene.
PS: Is there any reason why I shouldn't consider the RAZR? I'm just trying to get the best bang-for-buck that works with AT&T 3G without requiring a data plan, so top-notch performance isn't really my goal.
phantomsniper773, your questions are more than welcome in this thread, it can help me too for choose my next cellphone (already sold the S2 Hercules). Right now I'm thinking more in HTC Rezound that in Razr because of few reviews and the battery thing, I think that eventually in some time (1-2 years) the battery become useless and there will be no replace (worst scenario) and I'll have to sell the phone for a very low price

Ah, well I can't speak for the Rezound myself, but a friend of mine had it and hated it (he exchanged it for a Galaxy Nexus). He said it had really choppy performance and felt too bloated, even with a Custom Sense-based ROM. Of course, this was before they had S-OFF and AOSP ROMs, so I'm sure a lot has changed since then. I just thought I'd mention it.
Hello everyone,
I know there are many question similar to mine. However, I did my research and I'm still confused.
I am using a galaxy s1 i9000. I wanted to get the nexus 4 but I was shocked when I found out that the Asus padfone 2, which has almost the same hardware, scored higher in benchmarks with stock android without heating up or reaching a threshold, so it was hard to choose a phone that required modding and development to work at its best.
So, my question is, which phone is the best when it comes to:
1- android development support.
2- gaming (without the need to tinker with the phone)
3- (not so important) looks.
PS: I know the s3 is good, but it's too plastic-ish and doesn't feel right. And the new HTC one is really ugly.
I wouldve gotten the padfone 2 if it had some android support, but it doesnt.
Thanks and sorry for the long post.
