For Android or any Linux distro, kernel image and files are located in /boot partition. Using a root file browser you can navigate to the boot folder under root and see what's in there. You can flash different kernels but if you don't know much about kernels (like me) then stick to the flashable zips that the kernel devs provide.

Ok...so I have seen many people asking how to convert nandroid backup to flashable zip. HERE IT IS
1. Download yaffey.zip
2. Run yaffey.exe
3. Open the system.yaffs2.img from the nandroid backup
4. Select all and export to a new folder.
5. Now install dsixda's Android kitchen... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
6. Use the kitchen to cook a flashable rom.
OR
6. Download a any flashable zip for your phone, delete the system folder in it AND place the nandroid extracted system folder in the downloaded zip.
THATS IT!! YOU ARE DONE!
Hit Thanks If It's Usefull!
