Damn, had to look cos' I've been flashing back and forth between Faux and Clemsyn last few days. Currently rocking the following at 1.0GHz:

So, does this keep AT&T from detecting it and force you into a tethering plan?

It's a better solution than using the APN method, but nothing will ever be 100% fullproof.

quick question.
i don't tether nor do i intend on tethering any devices my phone. i did, however, enable tethering to use my lapdock using this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1160452
is this something that AT&T would be able to see?
and, if so, is there a different/better alternative so that i may be able to use my lapdock?
thanks in advance.

I do this also, I wonder if anyone has been flagged using this method. All I want is to be able to use my data on the lapdock, and not get busted. I barely do it anyway, but sometimes the need is there.
Maybe a dumb question... but whats the difference between this and using the built in feature with CM7?
Thanks!!
If you use an APN method the carrier can see the extra hop you take through packet sniffing. All network traffic has a TTL, (Time To Live), which is different for mobile devices and laptops. You carrier receives packets from your device, but since the packets come from your laptop, then pass through your device, they can see this packet difference. It is possible to "modify" the TTL, and if I understand correctly apps such as WiFi Tether are in effect showing the packets as coming from your device, so the TTL is seen as normal by your carrier.

To be honest, if you got it from AT&T, I would wait the 30 days before unlocking the bootloader. Test out the phone and see if you like it and see if you would rather have the Atrix 2 with the bigger screen and 8mp camera (no tegra 2 though) or another phone.

I would recommend this as well. Just to be safe.
Otherwise I use Darkside 4.4 and the 2.3.6 Webtop with Firefox 8. Both are found in the development thread in separate threads.
Darkside 4.4 with 2.3.6 webtop works best for me as I haven't found anything better yet.
If cyanogen had working webtop I'd be using that though, but at least they have the fingerprint sensor working.
I saw someone mention the Atrix 2, and I think that the lack of fingerprint scanner kind of sucks, but 8MP is nice I'm sure. Also the original lapdock is better than the new one IMO because of screen size and thickness, although it does take up more area. Not to mention the bottom of the phone is not obfuscated when it's sitting on it with the lid closed as just a regular dock.
I bought the phone off ebay so not too worried about the bootloader.
I just want a rom that works great with the laptop dock.
I will try Ninja and darkside.
Thanks again.

I don't know about using the dock station, but here Aura Rom is working pretty well. It's fast, very stable and everything works good. Battery life is booster and I think WiFi is also boosted. I've already tried CM7 and still think it will be the best rom for Atrix, but it's not stable so far. That's why I recommend Aura.
I will check it out. Thanks.

Quick question. Time warner cable live TV app doesn't support rooted devices, which mine is. I removed root last night to try the app but haven't had much time yet. I assume the app searches for system/bin/su and superuser.apk. can anyone think of a way to either rename the two so it can't detect it but still have root, sort of a toggle without the need to reflash from recovery every time I want root back.

I'm serious. Like I just said it authenticates with your cable modem on your home network. You would have to find some way to fake the cable modem on 4g. Which isn't possible.
Set up a VPN connection between your phone and a home computer. Then it will see your computers ip and not your phones. That might work but would require good upload bandwidth on your home connection.
What is Crackle? Seen people on it from Xbox Live.
