The (only) interresting part of your link, also in the RootzWiki original thread :
"HOW DO I CLEAR OUT *ALL* MY WIFI SETTINGS AND START FRESH?
If you find that your wifi is "strobing" on and off, or you wish to completely wipe out all wifi settings, you can do this in one of three ways:
THE "RIGHT" WAY (USING ADB):
adb shell rm -rf /data/misc/wifi && reboot
(this will remove the settings and then force a reboot)
THE "I-DON'T HAVE ADB INSTALLED" WAY:
From the Terminal app.
# rm -rf /data/misc/wifi && reboot
(similar command as above. The # is a prompt-- don't type that part. If you see a $ prompt instead, type "su" (no quotes) and it should become a #)[/INDENT]
THE VERY DRAMATIC "I DON'T MIND LOSING *ALL* MY SETTINGS" WAY
Boot into clockworkmod recovery. Do a factory reset. This will remove your wifi settings... along with ALL your personal settings and apps. Only use this if you understand that you will effectively be resetting CM7 to the first time you ran it."

then try changing it to channel 1. the point is that sometimes the channel gets really congested (as in everyone in your apartment area is using the same channel) and sometimes it just refuses to work.
Mine was originally at 11 and it took forever to connect. i swapped it out to channel 1 (i think) and now it's a snap

When does the WiFi turn off? Immediately after the screen does, or 15 minutes after that, or after a few hours?
There is a trade-off between keeping devices like WiFi on and extending battery life. Android prefers the latter and tries to go into suspend mode if it can. If you want to keep WiFi on all the time, you'll have to keep a wakelock active using some of the apps from Market which are designed to do this.
To see what I mean, try this:
Start the default Android music player and set it to play something in a loop. The default music player will set a wakelock and prevent the system from going into suspend mode. This should keep your WiFi active as long as the music plays.
Thanks.. Any suggestions on a app?

I never use such apps, so I can't recommend any. You can, of course, also set a wake lock from the command line. Install the Superuser app from Market, if not already installed, and then inside a Terminal Emulator window, type:
To set a wake lock:
Code:
$ [B]su[/B]
# [B]echo user_lock > /sys/power/wake_lock[/B]
To remove the (same) wake lock:
Code:
$ [B]su[/B]
# [B]echo user_lock > /sys/power/wake_unlock[/B]
The "user_lock", above, can be any word you want, but, you have to use the same word for both setting and then unsetting the lock. Ie., don't use "user_lock" when setting and "xyzzy" when unsetting. Also, only type the stuff in bold.

How can i fix's that? I like cyanogenmod much but i need wifi because i only have 100mb each mond of mobile data
You should try flashing different basebands. Search for modem collection on the developer subforum.
Try changing your regulatory channels in wifi settings> advanced.
I flashed another baseband but it dind't work
P.s. I flashed the baseband that was working for me on other rom's
P.s. It stucks by Get ip addres

Yeah, I've had those wifi problems too. But the wifi works after a while. How? I don't know. And I have no idea whats causing the problem either.
this is a general problem with CM7. If you press the wifi icon sometimes it won't get an ip but if you long press it again it takes you to wifi settings menu and for some weird reason it gets conected. This does not happen all the time but bottom line is that wifi is working.
Sometimes the above method doesn't work, you hane to disconnect and connect again. Flashing different basebands will not do the job as I tried this before. It's just a small issue.
Fyi, I went to check for updates manually just now (settings>about phone) and there is an update for media link to fix tethering bug. I'm at work so can't test it atm. Please advise if working!

Yup stock rom. Shows version 3.0.557193
Only other thing I can think of is that I changed my wireless routers encryption from TKIP to AES. I can change it back to see if that's what the issue is, but I am getting much faster wireless speeds using AES over TKIP (20-25 mb down on TKIP 35-40 over AES).

Try resetting the Media Link (press the button on it for about 5 seconds). It's probably trying to use the previous authentication information.

But I went into settings > apps > all > HTC Media Link and deleted all setting, data etc in there. Connected right away after that!
Thanks.

Yes, please. Does anyone have the APK? I had to do a factory reset and this update is not coming up when I check for software updates. I'd like to side load the app if possible.
Just got my 64 gb version from online order. Brand new, no rooting what so ever.
But the weather widget (on top of the blinkfeed) is not able to find location. Just says "current location".
Trying manually to refresh, it says "Unable to contact location services......" Kinda annoying.
Anyone else got this problem?

Funny though, I downloaded the AccuWeather App and that gets a location in no time.

This one worked!! Thank you very much!! :good:
Thank you all for your input!!
I'm running the viper rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2124391
I've tried using 4 different tether apps including foxfi, the spring hotspot and wifi tether 3.2 pre2
None of them work. At worst the wifi connection doesn't even show up in the list of wifi networks. At best it starts to connect and if i have no encryption, says it's obtaining an IP address and never gets past that (the app shows a connected device at this point) or if i have encryption enabled, it doesn't get past authenticating.
I also saw a post about editing the build.prob to have ro.ril.transmitpower = true - tried doing that as well to no effect.
In the wifi tether app i tried using the two generic ics profiles. I tried it with mms clamping and route fix on and off - no good.
Can anyone please offer me some suggestions on how to fix this or at least narrow down what the issue is?
Thanks

oh well - no luck. tried running this one under a couple of the available device profiles, including both generic ics profiles and auto - it wont even show up under the list of available networks no matter which profile i select.

access control was off - even if it was on it should give me a prompt to accept the connection or not.
I had to do a full wipe of my phone and reinstall the rom - i wish i knew what it was that messed it up so i can avoid doing it again.
