Media link OTA update - AT&T HTC One (M7)

Fyi, I went to check for updates manually just now (settings>about phone) and there is an update for media link to fix tethering bug. I'm at work so can't test it atm. Please advise if working!

Can confirm it works, no issues in the couple of minutes I played SSG2.

Nice job HTC.

Anyone that's unlocked and rooted applied this update yet? Want to make sure it doesn't mess anything up.

Mine still says there is no update, but I installed the tethering hack and it works perfectly with that.

What version of the HTC Media Link HD software is on your phone? (Settings-->Apps-->All). The update from yesterday is 3.0.557193.

Yup stock rom. Shows version 3.0.557193
Only other thing I can think of is that I changed my wireless routers encryption from TKIP to AES. I can change it back to see if that's what the issue is, but I am getting much faster wireless speeds using AES over TKIP (20-25 mb down on TKIP 35-40 over AES).

Try resetting the Media Link (press the button on it for about 5 seconds). It's probably trying to use the previous authentication information.

I tried resetting several times with no luck..
But I went into settings > apps > all > HTC Media Link and deleted all setting, data etc in there. Connected right away after that!
Thanks.

Yes, please. Does anyone have the APK? I had to do a factory reset and this update is not coming up when I check for software updates. I'd like to side load the app if possible.

[Q] Help! My X10 Can't Detect Wifi...

My X10 can't detect my home wifi... What can I do? It can detect wifi anywhere but not my home wifi... So, I guess it's the problem with home router. Btw, I'm using Innacomm W3400V wireless modem... Thanks in advance!!
What ROM r u running because some ROMs might not not have wifi working if its in early developmental stages or u dont have the latest update?
Sent from XDA Premium from my X10a rooted running 2.2.1 CM Rom from Rendeiro2005
Check your router settings it might have something to do with the isolation setting I can't think of the name of it but I will hopefully
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
A lot of the newer roms are also having issues with any router using WPA2 encryption (can't say for sure with WEP, since I don't have any to test with). But if you're open (no encryption) it'll connect just fine, but WPA/WPA2, it'll have some connection problems. Lots of people are having this issue, there's a few fixes that work for some, but not for others. Search is a great friend for that.
try making a second ssid for your phone on ur router
If all else fails and you need a new router...
save a few bucks on a router and use this instead.
http://www.connectify.me
I use this on several USB dongles on the end of some long usb leads.
Gets me wifi everywhere.
even use this on laptop in my car, wifi hotspot any where "we play dota after work"
Reset your wi-fi password if u hav 1. Otherwise check if your phonevcan detect other networks, and check if other people can join your network. good luck.

ok, should be your router's problem then. Sign onto your ISO's account settings if it only allows commuters to connect. Some router's default settings are configured like that. Can other devices (not computers) connect to it home wifi?
Like I said, if u hav security code, reset it.

Wired tether

I've searched a bit and can't find an answer: is there a simple way to get the aosp wired tether feature working without flashing a new rom? The apk would be appreciated if anyone has it

If you go to settings> wireless & networks, there is a usb tethering option. It's built into Sense already.

I've tried that out---it lets you use it 1-2 and then tells me my plan doesn't include tethering...did I miss something or should I try it again?

The wireless works fine over 4g without running that script. I've had no wake lock issues. Are you in a 4G area?
Also, one of the current roms said to have the wired and wireless tether unlocked. I'll peek around and see if I can find which one it was.
EDIT: Here it is, it's MikRoms. See the first thing in the Changelog

Change Log:
v0.9:
Hotspot hack with usb tether working also
Reboot menu
3D Homescreen Display setting
Browser settings unlocked
Browser tabs unlimited
Native Sceenshot (power and home buttons)
Mms no compression and max mms 5mb (default)
Added hidden quicksettings
Removed GPS icon when not in use
Removed usb debugging icon
All bloatware removable in settings menu
Probably a few more things that we forgot.
Oh wow thanks! I am unsure how to get that working without flashing the Rom. Would I just crack open the Rom and pull an apk or is there another way to do it?

I honestly have no idea how you would do that. I know that if you wanted the hotspot, you could just pull the hacked hotspot apk out of the rom and roll with that....but I don't think that wired usb is tied into that app, and I'm not sure what hits that. My suggestion would be to flash the rom, and see how it goes. I've never had anything but good experience with any of aamikams roms.
OK thanks for the help----on phone now so ill click thanks later

The (only) interresting part of your link, also in the RootzWiki original thread :
"HOW DO I CLEAR OUT *ALL* MY WIFI SETTINGS AND START FRESH?
If you find that your wifi is "strobing" on and off, or you wish to completely wipe out all wifi settings, you can do this in one of three ways:
THE "RIGHT" WAY (USING ADB):
adb shell rm -rf /data/misc/wifi && reboot
(this will remove the settings and then force a reboot)
THE "I-DON'T HAVE ADB INSTALLED" WAY:
From the Terminal app.
# rm -rf /data/misc/wifi && reboot
(similar command as above. The # is a prompt-- don't type that part. If you see a $ prompt instead, type "su" (no quotes) and it should become a #)[/INDENT]
THE VERY DRAMATIC "I DON'T MIND LOSING *ALL* MY SETTINGS" WAY
Boot into clockworkmod recovery. Do a factory reset. This will remove your wifi settings... along with ALL your personal settings and apps. Only use this if you understand that you will effectively be resetting CM7 to the first time you ran it."

then try changing it to channel 1. the point is that sometimes the channel gets really congested (as in everyone in your apartment area is using the same channel) and sometimes it just refuses to work.
Mine was originally at 11 and it took forever to connect. i swapped it out to channel 1 (i think) and now it's a snap

Eternety rom Wi-Fi teathr

I just switched from dad bamf 4.9 to eternity 8-4 on my HTC Thunderbolt. When I try the Wi-Fi hotspots it shows the network is connected, but won't connect to the internet. Is this a known bug that has a fix, or do I have to keep switching roms to use the hotspots?
Also, is there an over locking app to boost the processor?
Thank-you

What are your wifi hot spot settings currently? If you're restoring the settings from tibu that could be why it doesn't work. You may try updating the app.

Edit: Ok So I downloaded an app called WiFi Tether v3.2 from
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list
there's other versions, but I got the newest. It opens and says it's operational, but on my Kindle, it just keeps saying "obtaining IP address" and won't connect... I have the credentials the same as they were in the stock hotspot app.
You probably need to change the device profile. I don't know whet the kindle uses but try setting it to Google nexus one. Also make sure routing fix is checked

I set the device profile to "Thunderbolt (CDMA/LTE)," changed the channel to 10, and clicked the "Routing Fix" radio button. It's working! However, it will stop working after a while, then I have to reboot my phone to get it to start again. Thank you so much for your Help, disconnecktie.
Are you currently using the Eternity InfectedROM? If you are using it, or are pretty familiar with the ROM, I have a couple more general questions about it.
Thanks Again.
I ran it for about 2 months. I prefer the r248 build over the newer ones. What's the question? Oh and make sure you change your wifi sleep policy to never and that might help with the connection issues you're having.

[Q] unable to get wifi tether to work

I'm running the viper rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2124391
I've tried using 4 different tether apps including foxfi, the spring hotspot and wifi tether 3.2 pre2
None of them work. At worst the wifi connection doesn't even show up in the list of wifi networks. At best it starts to connect and if i have no encryption, says it's obtaining an IP address and never gets past that (the app shows a connected device at this point) or if i have encryption enabled, it doesn't get past authenticating.
I also saw a post about editing the build.prob to have ro.ril.transmitpower = true - tried doing that as well to no effect.
In the wifi tether app i tried using the two generic ics profiles. I tried it with mms clamping and route fix on and off - no good.
Can anyone please offer me some suggestions on how to fix this or at least narrow down what the issue is?
Thanks
Try this version

oh well - no luck. tried running this one under a couple of the available device profiles, including both generic ics profiles and auto - it wont even show up under the list of available networks no matter which profile i select.

I had to do a full wipe of my phone and reinstall the rom - i wish i knew what it was that messed it up so i can avoid doing it again.
