yes, it is compatible.
Will all the special keys map to the function you want? Probably not all of them, but that's true for all keyboards unless the device has be specifically keymapped to your device. That is fixable in a rooted ROM.
I just bought the logitech tablet keyboard for $5 more. I posted a thread about it too.
It says it requires android 3.0+ to work, but I'm sure it will work on the Flyer. Otherwise, I'll just patiently wait for HTC to release HC or just root it if they take too long.

I bought a Belkin wireless keyboard (F8U1500), but the keyboard drivers don't work with Windows Mobile 5.
Does anybody have any ideas on a good keyboard that will work with the Wizard? I want to do some writing, and lugging my laptop around is a pain.

Why would you buy a wizard if you didn't want the keyboard. You should have gone for a JAM.
Well, first off, you can't actually type on that keyboard. You can peck, you can poke, and you can thumb, but there will be no writing of books or articles on that thing. It's too small.
Second, you can't buy a Jam or any of the other HTC handsets in the US. You get the two variants of Wizard, and that's it.
I could have gotten a WM2003 based machine, but there were specific features of WM5 that I wanted: the extended battery life and the non-volatile memory are at the top of my list. I've used Pocket PC's and Palm OS PDA's in the past, and I've always been worried about the batteries dying and losing my data - it happened once, and wouldn't you know I'd been using it heavily the day before.
Even at $500 (I didn't get an activation discount because of stupid recordkeeping on T-Mobile's part), the Wizard is still a good deal. I just looked up a Jam, and it's over $600.
Finally, I didn't know about the Jam, or any of the other HTC products until after I purchased the T-Mobile MDA. I like this product, and I wouldn't trade it for any other PDA I've seen - except maybe Cingular's variant, since I like their keyboard better.
Either way, the fact remains: I need a keyboard that's compatible with my Wizard, and giving me a hard time about what I "should have" bought doesn't help.
If anyone has any serious suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

I use the ThinkOutside Bluetooth keyboard and mouse with my 8125, and the Qtek 9100 I had before it. Work very well togehter.

They just released new BT drivers 4-20-06. So far it has seemed to fix the power button issue that myself and others have experienced. I really love this keyboard now!

I have an apple BT wireles keyboard.
Are there any drivers I can use to pair it with my Vario?. The Vario can find it, but doesn't offer any services to use.
(My apple wireless mouse pairs and is identified as a HID, but there is no mouse pointer on screen!!)
Anyone know if you can put the motherboard and guts of a hero in a G1 housing giving you the ability to use the physical keyboard of the g1 with the better memory ect of the hero?
it would get messy, the screens are a different size, ahah and if you kept the g1's screen it would take alot of programming i think to get it to work
i wouldnt say its impossible, but arnt there ways of using bluetooth keyboards?

Bluetooth keyboards are certainly an option. There are two commercial apps in the market which support them. One for SPP & one for HID (the two BT profiles, serial port profile & human interface device, which BT keyboards can use), so most keyboards should work with one or the other. As it happens, I'm waiting for delivery of a Freedom Pro, from Handtec, atm.
It's probably not actually impossible, but if you had to ask then it's not something you could do.
I'd say it's practically impossible in that no one would ever do it.
OT: The poster above mentioned 2 apps for using a BT keyboard.. what are they and do either support the original old freedom BT kb?
It's possible, but as far as I'm aware you'd need to write new drivers for communicating with the physical keyboard, and the older screen/buttons, etc.

BlueInput & KeyPro. Can't get either to work with the Freedom Pro on a 1.5 gsm Hero (they support many phones running 1.5). Hero seems to be lacking something under 1.5 that most other devices have.
I just read that Japan is getting a Bluetooth keyboard for the PS3 for about $63 bucks US (figure it will probably be about $75 or so once it makes it over here). Any idea if this would work with Vegan Tab GE? I'm particularly interested in the mouse feature. It would be great to have a keyboard/mouse all-in-one combo like that.

Does the Photon only work with the Motorola BT keyboard? I have tried 2 BT keyboards I already have and I cannot get them to pair with the phone. I tried both the 0000 and 1234 passkeys the phone tells me but neither works. Neither of my keyboards came with passkeys. Thanks in advance for any help you folks can offer.

Random note about pairing an apple keyboard though:
After the phone asks you to put in a pin number and you hit ok, immediately type the same pin into the keyboard and hit enter. Then it will pair fine.

Yup that did the trick. I am using the Targus tablet keyboard and I did as you said, I entered the passkey on the phone and as soon as I hit OK I entered the same number on the keyboard and hit enter and boom I was in business. Only thing though I don't know if your using SPb 3D shell but I had to uninstall it because everytime I connect the keyboard the whole SPB shell crashes. Anyone else using SPB 3D shell experience this?
Sorry, I'm not using that. Is it a launcher? I'm using launcher pro.

Best product I have seen for portability/functionality: Logitech diNovo Mini
In theory, should any keyboard that properly implements canonical Bluetooth HID work with the Photon (at least, well enough to work properly with Connectbot, including cursor keys)? Or in more concrete terms, has anybody found a Bluetooth HID keyboard that worked with Cyanogen, but DIDN'T work as expected on a Photon with stock firmware?
(by the way, I'm also open to suggestions for a keyboard that can be non-awkwardly pocketed, and is suitable for both panic-stricken sysadmin work with Connectbot involving bash & SQL *and* casual web browsing while eating at BK. I could almost deal with one that's "phone-like" as long as the center-to-center key pitch is at least as wide as the Epic, it has a number row, and the symbols are in the right places... but with more empty space surrounding the keys so I won't have to press with my fingertip to avoid pressing an adjacent key. I'd totally kill for the folding Jorno KB I saw on Wired & Gizmodo, but it looks like THAT one won't actually be available until 2012 even though they started sending out press releases and demo units last year).
Update: does anybody have an opinion (good, bad, awesome-if-it-worked-but-it-doesn't, etc) about this particular keyboard:

It looks like the latest incarnation of the 4-way folding keyboard design that's been around since at least the Palm V (now, with bluetooth and USB-recharged lithium battery). I really like it (on paper, at least), because it's the only keyboard like this I've ever found that has all the keys I care about in the right places. I've been lusting after a keyboard like this for literally years, but it seems like my phones have always been one version away from compatibility with it (sigh). Now that I have a phone that literally knows how to deal with proper Bluetooth HID out of the box, I'm dying to finally buy one the moment I have an excuse to believe it's likely to work ;-)
I picked up the Official Moto Keyboard at Target for $48 - Normally $69.99 - it was marked as clearance - couldn't pass it up
Connected and works very well with the Hacked webtop

That worked with the CE Compass Mini Bluetooth as well. If only the documentation had mentioned that critical step.
The CE Compass bluetoothhas a mouse ponter control, uses AAA batteries, and is cheaper than Logitech but probably not as robust.
It is about half the size of an iPad. So it could go into a big pocket.

Well, for what it's worth, I've successfully paired and used both a DiNovo keyboard and MX900 mouse. I haven't bought a pocketable keyboard though. At the moment, I'm trying to find an app compatible with the Hero that can emulate a real, honest to god Bluetooth HID keyboard and Mouse (99% of the apps in Android Market don't emulate HID, and require a special server app that doesn't work on phones/tablets at the other end). If I can get the Hero to work and pair with my Photon as its keyboard/mouse, I'll be psyched... I already own it, it's just sitting in a drawer anyway, it's half the size of actual pocketable bluetooth keyboards with mouse capabilities, and I can do Graffiti on it instead of fumbling with keys scaled for a midget

the first one is the cheapest. i believe the other ones are just a lil newer. just make sure u order bluetooth and not 2.4ghz.
Those look nice but don't need a touch pad tho. I never use webtop not found myself ib a situation to need to use webtop since my laptop is always near by. I'm just looking for a mini keyboard that will work.

Same here... The rii micro keyboard is pretty sic.. and it comes with a free usb-bluetooth adapter. Combine this with Ubuntop hack and u have yourself a very savage machine!!
As far as I'm aware this isn't a duplicate thread, because all the gamepad-related threads I can find are about using existing controllers with the NP. I don't own one.
The official gamepad is sold out everywhere but eBay, for which I would have trust issues, and I don't know that an Xbox 360 controller is the best option for someone who doesn't already own it. I'd be getting a $50 controller with a $20 receiver, the official version of which I can't find from any Canadian retailer, and I'm getting mixed opinions on how well that setup even works.
So I'm wondering if there's a third party controller I'm missing. Bluetooth preferred, though I have an OTG adapter if needed. Or maybe the 360 is my best option, in which case I'd like to know if anyone's tried any of the plethora of third-party wireless receivers on Canadian Amazon. I once bought a crappy OTG cable based on user reviews that barely worked and eventually broke, and now I'm leery of accessories that aren't from a known brand.
I'm using the steelseries stratus xl and i love it best android controller out there, works for every game and you don't need to mess with the button layout all the time.

Prior to receiving replies, I ended up ordering the Tronsmart Mars G01 despite knowing little about it, because it was a cheaper option yet specifically claimed to support Android TV. It's not Bluetooth but it comes with its own wireless dongle. I haven't tried enough Play Store games to definitively state whether it's an out-of-the-box replacement for the Asus gamepad, but thus far it seems to get the job done.
And I really hope I don't have a compatibility issue with any one game, because if I do, I'll be scouring their website for a "game controller app" that I can't find for the life of me, nor would I particularly want a random proprietary apk file that requests root access. But hey, I haven't needed it so far.
This is what i'm using http://www.8bitdo.com/nes30pro/ works great, I have a spare 120GB SSD hooked up that I use as adopted storage and have tons of console/arcade emulators set up on the device I also have all the zen pinball tables I own installed (though some have to be installed through the play store website, I also use ARC Browser to sort and manage all of my roms and act as a launcher for apps that don't have proper android TV icons, I also have messed around with some native apps such as soul calibur and Minecraft and it works great for all of them, the build quality is good and feels very much like an NES/SNES controller, battery life is decent as well. there is an app for mapping controls on games that do not support it but I have not tried it on the nexus player yet.
