Is it possible to load fonts from your computer to the DX2? I would like to try a few but I am stuck on how to load them. I have copied them to the SD card. I will keep searching, but any help will be greatly appreciated!!
Also, how do I stop messing with this phone!! I'm becoming addicted to it!! I will soon need a 12-step program!!
Haha
I used ROM Tool Box to change the font, it already had the font I had. Have you tried nandroids? That helps my flash addiction

I have ROM Toolbox & used that to change my fonts, but I'm not too happy with their selection. I wanted to load another font (Hester) from my Win7 computer onto the phone. I read elsewhere that you can't just copy it (it will mess up your phone).
There's an app in the market that might work, I think its called font changer. I don't know if it will work with fonts from your computer, but its free so it might be worth a shot. It doesn't come with any fonts, it just allows you to change them.

root tools by jrummy also has some fonts available ...not sure if it has what u looking for or not...
u mean u don't want to try and put webdings or wingdings or whatever its called on ya phone? I thought EVERYONE knew how to decipher those symbols
I used Font Changer from the Market. Just put the fonts in the right folder, selected and installed them with the app, rebooted and was good to go. Havent messed with any crazy fonts yet though.

As title says, just a heads up to get a great kb for our NC for free today only on amazon appstore
(if you get it and want to thank me you can by sending me the apk since the appstore doesn't work in Canada!!! (arggh)
Just downloaded and testing now. Had been going between the Gingerbread and Thumb Keyboards on Froyo, but Swift does seem to be more accurate so far. Think this might be my goto keyboard.
HOWEVER, the stupid Swiftkey icon pops up on the notification bar. It won't go away-- any way to get rid of this?
The free Swiftkey app from the Amazon AppStore doesn't seem to be a tablet version. It also seems to suffer from the white on white problem.
if someone can send me ?
I would like to try it.
The tablet version is in beta so i imagine once out of beta this can update to it
Not able to see predictive words
I installed on my rooted Nook and it doesn't have the same capability as it does on my phone.
The thing that makes this keyboard so nice are the predictive words above the keyboard. The predictive words aren't showing like they do on my phone.
Are others seeing the same thing?

Canadoc, there's no point sending the apk to you. amazon is drm'ing their apps, so it is locked unless on the same registered device and linked to the amazon account used to download it. i've alredy experienced this fate several times, using the family account to start with, then switching to my private account. have done it several times, with both free and paid apps. the apks are there, but they keep giving errors like "you are not the owner of this apk". perhaps i just need to delete the amazon appstore after the download?
I use it both on my phone and NC. Great keyboard!

Did you download the language pack?
I downloaded the SwiftKey KB, but I'm having trouble with the initial setup sequence. After I hit Enable, the screen goes back to the Welcome page instead of the screen where I'm supposed to check the SwiftKey box. Any help?
Thanks.

Here's what I did to get swiftkey to work:
Using root explorer I made a copy of
com.touchtype.swiftkey.apk
(found in data/data)
and pasted it in system/apps
then rebooted
After that, choose it as your keyboard either in NookColor Tools
or longpress a text field and pick input then choose Swiftkey
Hope this helps
Confirmed doesn't work if installed on device it wasn't purchased from. Oh well.
sign up for the beta and download tablet optimized version. much better IMO.

It'll work if you install the amazon appstore and sign into your account.
Unless you're just doing it for piracy, then you're a huge douchebag.

Clearly I am a complete and total moron. I have just spent an hour with three different root file system apps trying to make this work. I cannot do it. The file simply will not copy to the system/app folder no matter what I try. I can copy it to every other folder it seems, except that one.
Root explorer - can't mount the system folder at r/w. I press the button at the top, but nothing happens. The system remains r/o.
SUFBS - Mounts the system folder as r/w. I can create new folders and files in the system folder with no problems. Can't copy the folder from data/data or anywhere else.
Super Manager (hey it was free and I was desperate) - same deal as SUFBS except it did copy the file finally. Gave me an error that I was out of space. I don't see it listed as an APK. I'm clearly f***ing up something ridiculously simple.
WTF am I missing here?
ok gotta resurrect this one.
i paid for the tablet version recently from the android market and it doesnt install on my rooted NC - i rooted my NC using Manual Nooter.
i also cant seem to locate the apk file. anyone know where the apk file is installed once the app is downloaded from the market?
Has anyone had any luck? The romtoolbox apk has this option but it doesn't work.
Supposedly Snowball mod has this. (I say supposedly only because I have not seen it myself.)

I can confirm that snowball does this. Nook is changed to the word hack.

The standard bootanimation process will not work on the nook tablet. For some reason, they decided to dump the bootanimation into the framework-res.apk, and it will not load up any other version.
If the /data/local/bootanimation.zip exists or /system/media/bootanimation.zip exist, then the /system/bin/bootanimation binary will see them, and attempt to load them, but they will not actually DISPLAY anything, even though they are actually running. This results in a black screen during the bootup process.

Has anyone tried replacing the one in framework-res? I've replaced a lot of .pngs in there without issue, wondering if that will cause issue.

As someone noted, snowball-mod has been doing this for a long time.
However, I don't know if changing it from the 256x256x24bit pngs that they are will break anything. So, I would stick to that.

I would suggest giving it a try to see what happens.
Then you could create a cool batch file that will allow the rest of us to do it the easy way...please?

Short of installing a custom ROM, there is no way to make it work "the easy way".

Well what I perceive as an 'easy' way so far is using NinjaMorph to open up the .apks live on the tablet, replace the files I want to replace, which has been simple icon .pngs so far, then restart the Tablet. I usually dump the files on the sd card with dropbox since they're never large.
I use apktool to dump the original apks on my pc so I can see what I want to change and start with.
I am trying to download an app called Comic Strips by Vasken http://market.android.com/search?q=pname:com.vasken.comics and I am on CM7 so I thought it would work but I can't get the app to show up. It's a free app but it is protected so I can't back it up from my phone and install it. So my question is how can I get it installed? Can I edit my build.prop file? If so how?
There's a thread in the apps forum on modifying build.prop. But did you try just copying the apk out of /data/app on your phone? That has worked for me before.
Sent from my Nook Tablet using Tapatalk
Well I have figured out that it is because the app is protected/private but the better reason is that when I got the app installed following the advice to just pull it from /data/app/ (it was actually in /data/app-private/ though) it ended up being in a little box about the size of a phone screen LOL funny looking but it is useless due to the size I might as well just use my phone for it.
Searched "rom toolbox" from xda app and got nothing. EDIT: found xda on TV? YouTube video on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLxRRscFLjs&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Anyone got this app? I've had it for awhile but only used it for 1 function, I just realized all its functions are equivalent to the dozen or more apps I use and not lesser in quality.
Its functions all match what I've set them to with my other apps, its smarter than I gave it credit; its over a dozen apps in 1. Including TiBu, SetCPU, apps2sd, SD boost, root browser, ad away, rebooter, font installer, a little overwhelmed by its plethora of functions

I use ROM toolbox a lot. It is a very useful app.
Search from xda app or tapatalk app don't work.
I just found this program then, this thread.
Yes it does seem like it can the place of quite a few programs!
Including titanium backup!
I can't find what it "can't" do!?!
I'm gonna give it a couple of days to see how it runs.
If it runs without problems; then I'll be cleaning quite a few apps!
If anyone knows anything or has a bad experience, then please post!

Changed my mind on this one! I do not recommend for the SGS2. For one: to use a lot of the rom flashing features, it requires "rom manager!" (We all know what "rom manager" does to our phone!
A lot of the other features only work on other phones such as the "Droid"
I did not try the overclocking feature. I just don't mess with overclocking my phone.
Forgot to mention I paid for the full (pro) version.
There is a Font installer, but it did not work. There is a lot of font choices, and I was disappointed!
The only thing I was able to successfully do was change the boot animation. There are several pretty cool boot animations available. You do have to use
the paid version to change boot animations.
So no go on this app.
I do recommend "darky ota." I've had a lot of success with it, and everything works.

I am asking what to change.
I thought there was talk about changing the dots per inch or LCD density, but I'm not quite sure. Will edit this post if I find it again.
But I need to change it so I can have more of a selection in the market and to trick some apps I don't care about the LCD density but thanks anyway. WhTever you can do to help me is greatly appreciated

please read up on 'LCD density'. it "is" how the ( google ) market categorizes you as a phone or tablet. so... ya... you do need to toggle it.
.
and there are additional setting too.
Is this what you are looking for?

Yeah, you need to actually try to look things up and understand, you know? Instead of just getting directions from people and changing things. That way you know what's going on and have a better chance of fixing it when you gets stuck.
Use the files in fullboogies post and change the first several lines to be like the others they link to. To change it on your tablet use es file explorer and go all the way up then go to /system and click build.prop and use es text editor when it asks, and you can change what you want. I made mine look like the nexus 7, but there were bugs. Oh, and make sure system is r/w and root access in the settings.

OP - I used the method in the post I made above and have successfully swapped build.prop files many times to get access to new stuff on the market. It is a really easy process once you read, read, and re-read the thread I posted. Just make sure you have backups of the stock file, and make sure you keep track of which build.prop file is which.
Personally, I give them a unique name when I'm not using them, then change the name to "build.prop" when I want to swap for another one. Again, just make sure you keep track of which is which. And keep a backup copy of the stock one on your home computer, just in case.
