Hello my Fellow XDA Members.
Just bought my Amaze yesterday and I am using Hotmail in my mail app.
BTW, I got mine at Brandsmart USA (MIAMI, FL) for only $49.98 after a $50 mail in rebate. Total cost of $106.98 with taxes (for new contracts or eligible upgrade).
I am running some problems hoping someone could help me.
Sometimes when I go into my mail app it appears as all my emails are gone and show "NO MAIL" on screen. If say I go into it couple a minutes later they are there but sometimes it starts downloading them again.
Even yesterday a couple of times when the screen was blank I got the error message saying "I have exceeded my login with POP server in 15 mins" not words exactly cuz i cant remember.
Here are my settings, which I am not sure if I am doing right. But feel free to comment.
Days: Mon to Fri
Peak time Start: 8:00 AM
Peak time End: 6:00 PM
Peak Times: Every 5 Mins
Off Peak Times: Every 15 mins
for Download Options i have: By days-ALL
Never really understood what all the above means....

Wow, you must be draining your battery like a hell with that setting. Hotmail doesn't allow you to login that often through POP. That's why you're getting the error message. Also, if you access your Hotmail account from the web page and/or Hotmail connector on Outlook, you may get strange problems. In my case, my 'read' messages came back as 'unread' each time the phone accesssed Hotmail.
If you are a serious Hotmail user, why don't you try 'Hotmail' by Seven Networks from Market? It has many needed features such as 'push' delivery instead of 'pull', access to all your mail folders, and contact and calendar syncing from Hotmail account. You can also delete Hotmail emails on your phone, which is not possible with other email apps.

I just flashed to DCD's 2.2.6 ROM yesterday. After flashing my ROM, i opted to not put all my email info onto the device as i wasn't sure when the new ROM would be out, and i didn't know if it'd be a matter of hours before i reflashed. Anyway, i tried to add my yahoo email to my Mogul out of boredom at work, and the next thing i know, my friend from California texts me saying that she just got 10 texts with a whole amazon confirmation of an order i'd placed back in November. Tracking number, payment method, the whole 9 yards. The email would have been on my HOTMAIL email account and wouldn't have had anything to do with the yahoo email i was setting up, yet when i check my hotmail account through my PC, that specific email that she got split into 10 texts, is magically gone from my account... and i never delete order confirmations till about 6 months after i get the product.
Talk about a HUGE security threat... I thought maybe she was messing with me and somehow got my email password, but she forwarded me back the texts and sure enough, it was the exact email i remember reading when i placed that order.
There is no way that she'd ever know my passwords for anything as they're randomly generated numbers and letters both in upper and lower case, and i have yet to even CHECK my hotmail on this phone with the new ROM. I also have my security settings on the "Reset Password" function of hotmail set to a random date (not my birthday, as it asks for), and the security question and answer have nothing to do with eachother.
The only thing i can think is that when i first got my phone i logged in with windows live and it downloaded all my hotmail stuff, and i backed up originally with SPB Backup. Since then, i've run custom roms without MSN's junkware, and have used SPB Backup to do full backups on my device.
Is it possible that somehow the backups have carried over those hotmail emails that were backed up, and that info isn't really locked down, as it doesn't have an email address on the mogul to attach those backed up emails to?
This really has me freaked out.. i've never seen anything like this before...
It's got me scared to the point where i'm gonna flash back to the ORIGINAL Rom with the bad BT just to keep my ish secure.
Does anyone have ANY CLUE why this would happen?????? My girlfriend doesn't even know my passwords to ANYTHING.
Thanks guys, any help would be appreciated!
Honestly, does anyone have a clue why this would happen? Has anyone else even HEARD of this happening?
If it was a freak incident, i won't worry about it, but still it's definitely an issue that it's possible right?
I havent heard of that happening to anyone. I'm using no2chem's 6.1 rom and its been flawless for me. I cant think of why an email would be sent to annother person via text.
freaky or not it happened to me, however a bit differently i sent an email to someone through my phone around 9am
i sent a text message (after sending other emails and text messages) around 5pm and it sent the text message plus the message i sent at 9am to that person.
Hi all,
There doesn't seem to be an option to switch off repeat notifications. Whenever I receive an email and I don't read it immediately, I'll get a repeat notification sound every 5 minutes or so until I acknowledge the email in some way.
I have looked to no avail, so am hoping that someone can point out where this option is. I have set up quiet time from 10PM - 7AM, but this isn't helping outside these quiet hours.
Hope you can help.
Thanks..
I think its a gmail bug. Except for me I get the messages report in winmo. Even if I delete them they come back. Fu!$&ng annoying. Even though I don't use winmo, I still see them if I have to do a restart or something
I've never bad this problem at all...

I'm using an app called Improved Email. Not syncing to Gmail, but internal mail app grabs corporate exchange, improved mail to another exchange server and also a hotmail account. Still don't see an option to disable the repeat notifications..
Are you having this problem with Gmail, or a different mail app? Because there are a few bugs ive noticed with the Gmail app like mattfmartin said. Sometimes I wont receive an email in WM but the moment i boot up into Android i start getting notifications from old & new emails.

Hi, I don't use gmail at all. I don't have a problem receiving email either, its just that when I do receive emails the notification sounds keep sounding every 5 minutes until I go into the mail application and read them which I don't often have time to do so the repeat notification sounds become quite annoying after 15 minutes or so, especially at work where they annoy other work colleagues as well.
my phone beeps one time, then the orange light stays on until i check it..
this must be build specific.. perhaps post in the build thread.
I dont use gmail either. And I get the notification repeats for everything. It's especially annoying for voicemail, and it doesnt matter if I have new voicemail or not, I check all the messages and then the notification comes back 5-10 minutes later, then I check again and there are no new messages... It's just annoying really though, not that big of a deal...
As in the when an e-mail arrives, Gmail's servers send out a message to the phone, and the phone updates, vs. the phone actively going out to the servers every set amount of time to pull e-mails?
Assuming you don't get like 50 e-mails in like 5 minutes, wouldn't instant updates be better for battery, since if you have it to check every 15-30 minutes, and there are no messages, that was a waste of battery?
Hi Everybody!
A week ago I finally received 3.2 to my Galaxy Tab 10.1 WiFi only. Right after that I found that IMAP client stoped working - it is downloading folders list but not any messages. Does anyone see such things? And it looks like WiFi wake-up issue didn't fixed as well. Here is my tab params: kernel - 2.6.36.3, build - HTJ85B P7510XWKL1
Greetings!

same tab, same update but not these same problems.
Kernel: 2.6.36.3, Build: HTJ85B P7510WXKL1 to confirm.
Thanks for your input!
I just made hard reset but it seems didn't help. Also after this update home screen shortcuts became too sensitive - they try to move to 1st or 2nd screen instead of just move to another cell on the middle screen. Wierd.

Maybe bold, but going back to factory settings? If the problems keep on persisting that is.
Already did - nothing was changed Probably should talk with local support
I have had the same issue after the update. I tried getting Samsung support but no luck, they just said check with your network admin for the correct parameters. Wasted 40 minutes trying get the support person to understand the problem and gave up.
IMAP Email issue on Android 3.2
Grrrrr! I Spent 10 minutes on phone w/ GoDaddy to verify IMAP settings...They are right (big surprise). Spent 43 minutes on phone with Verizon w/ both tier 1 & 2 tech support....Nothing! THEN spent another 50 minutes on the phone with Samsung...again NOTHING! They ALL say, "haven't heard of this issue", even though a quick Google search shows...LIAR!! My inlaws are VERY mad, they spent $700 for something that worked great for a month, then the update came and now their emails do nothing, and email is one of the main things they wanted a tablet for...they travel in an RV a lot.
And the strangest thing is tht I can send an email from the tablet IMAP email account in the native Android "app" and it does go...it's just not showing what's in the folders.
I downloaded email apps which work fine, so for everyone to just throw their hands up and say nope not my problem is NOT ok! These people (my inlaws) are about to go to Verizon and have a WORD (meaning my father-in-law will yell....a lot!) I kinda don't blame him....$700 for something that I have to use a "bandaid" on to view email...IS rediculous.
Come on Samsung/Verizon/Android just admit there is a problem and fix it already!
If anyone figures out a workaround other than an app please email me.
Hi,
I have updated my device two days ago and have the same problem with IMAP, I can see all of the folders but cannot see the body of messages!
Any hope to fix this?
Thx
Is the IMAP problem with the stock email client? I've never had any luck with the stock email app and IMAP, beginning with my Droid Charge back in May of last year. I've used K9 (free app) and currently have nine IMAP accounts (IIRC; including two Gmail accounts) set up. No problems with them getting push notifications of new mails.
I'm not a huge fan of K9. It works flawlessly for the most part, but occasionally clicking "show pictures" in emails doesn't work (ok, more frequently than 'occasionally'), among other things. Still, for reliable IMAP notifications and sending, I can't complain...especially for the price. Still, I wish it were a little more polished. <shrug>

That is frustrating, same issue with native email client after upgrading to 3.2 - IMAP will not show any messages in the folders. I hope ICS upgrade will fix it.
Today I chatted with Samsung Tech support. Here was my issue:
"Wifi Galaxy Tab 10.1 GT-P7510. After geting OTA for Android 3.2 the Samsung "Email" app would not show any messages for the IMAP account that I have.
So far I have tried removing and re-adding the account, clearing out data from application but that does not help. I can see folders created under my Inbox but no messages will show, just "Load more messages 0/0" which stays the same after refreshing. If I create folders via webmail those will show up on tablet, but once again without any messages in them.
Following last support agent advise I have done a factory reset and then a Hard Reset but issue is still there. "
here was reply from Samsung:
Augustine: As you have performed all the troubleshooting steps it needs to be isolated at the service center. As we performed all the troubleshooting steps and issue still persists, the device needs to be serviced. Let me provide you with a link where you can file an online service request. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/request
Just would like to contribute to the nerds repository of information. Now that I've had my phone running for literally days without having to charge. I just wanted to share how I managed to do it, and I still am notified when new email is available..
In case if it hasnt been mentioned before, here's how it's done
1- Turn off syncing of google mail..
2 - Create an account on IFTTT.com
3 - Create an IFTTT rule to send your phone a Text Message with the Subject of the text message as the subject of the email when new email becomes available within GMAIL.

Something is clearly wrong if your having battery problems and you need to turn off sync. Are you on your phone every minute of the day? I'm sure there's alot more you can do besides turning off sync, but whatever floats your boat. My battery has been fine on my S4.
sounds like he is turning off wifi, and using this text system for email notifications instead of wifi connection
