[THANKS DEVS] **Don't Stop the THANKS** - Motorola Photon 4G

Thanksgiving maybe over but that doesn't mean you have to stop giving out the THANKS.
Ok people let us give THANKS to our DEVS.

the2dcour - Dockless Root
yay4juggs - SBF's
kennethpenn - roms and boostrap
seanzscreams - roms

+10! Thanks to you all for making this device better!

a BIG thanks from me also! I would be so lost and helpless without yall, and id have a slow boring phone too.

Yes, Thanks to all the developers who burn that "midnight oil" to get us a better MoPho experience!!!
Hat's Off for a job well done! Keep up the good work!

i wanted to stop in and say a quick thanks, more often than not its the crappy **** that gets in the way of the people who actually care. so +1 to this topic and thanks to everyone who has contributed in android every where at any time. while i may have brought some cool features to this phone it was someone else who came up with the original ideas whenever/whereever

Hey all,
I wanted to give thanks as well. This forum, consisting of geniuses who purchased a Photon, has been nothing but fun and helpful. I hope to contribute more and more as I become better at themeing!
All the best, be safe and eat a ton!
K

Where would we be without devs! I would actually have to pay attention to my wife instead of flashing roms. Thank you so much. She is a monster! But seriously, thank you all for your hard work.

Over 250 views that I hope translated into 1000 THANKS to our Devs

We would be no where without you guys! Thanks for the big help!
The Photon would not be as awesome without you guys!!!

I also would like to express a genuine Thanks to all the Developers, Themers and participaters that are willing to answer questions. I consider myself to be a slight step above a noob, but no where near as qualified as a developer - so I often times have questions. The people in the Photon Forums have all been very awesome in answering my questions and guiding me to the right links and answers. Kudos to you people as well. Big Kudos to BearW815 for this thread and for answering my questions as well!!!

Thanks to our devs I'm rooted!!! Haven't tried anything else yet cause I don't wanna loose 4g and the stock rom runs great as it is...
But I'm thankful there's people willing to help and share with us!!!

id also like to have a shoutout to Dees_troy, yall may not know him but he is part of team win. he has twrp (teamwin recovery project) already ported to the photon, fully working and official. reason why its not public? cuz they havent release 2.0 yet

Theme Idea(s)

Hello Fellow XDA'ers
Let me start by saying that I am by no means a dev. I have taken it upon myself to learn how to theme. This will take me some time as I am just learning, am working 1 full time job and 2 part time jobs and I also have a 2 year old at home. So please do not ask for ETA's. I will try to release themes in stages. Please look at the poll attached to this thread as it will help me decide what colors to start with. Also iff you have any apps you would like to see themed please leave a comment in this thread of that app you would like to see themed. FYI first theme I will come up with will be bluish in color as blue is my favorite color After that I will start with the #1 color in the post poll and work my way down the list.
I am currently running alien ROM on my phone so I will be using that ROM as a base. If anyone would like to help please let me know. REally need someone who is great at photoshop or GIMP. Also will need tester's also.
Thank you in advance. I will help test...might want to look at homebase 2.1 with 4.2 update as the base it has been really stable for me..
THIS is the way the dev forum should be. "I don't see what I want so I'm gonna make it myself!" instead of whining that less than ten people are working on useless 'upgrades.'
I'm more than competent in Photoshop and I'd be willing to test for you. I'm also familiar with the Android system having messed up a few for myself. I like blue as well.
Good deal. I'll help you test it out.

Even though Alien is nice, it's a few updates behind and dead (most likely forever). Might I suggest Yay's 2.3.4-4.5.1A-1_SUN-198_7-CM Deodex. Either way I'll be happy to test.

CM7, the latest stock deodex and UbunTop are perfect examples useless. Especially the dumb UbunTop thingy. Wish we had some real devs in here.

I'm alright at Photoshop, and can try to help. Just let me know what I need to do, file settings, etc. specific details and I'll try my best. Probably good to crowd source anyway..

Wish you luck... I wanted to do a theme myself but been so busy... that I fear I could not give it the time required. But glad you are stepping in to work on it.
I can contribute by making icons... this is what is floating around as im currently expanding them.

I like that you have taken the initiative to do this, I could help with gimp/ps work (was head of LinuxMint art team) as well as testing (still a Mint dev). Would love to get into android theming and dev as well, if there I s anything I can do to help, just let me know.

I'm in no way a PS/Illustrator expert...I can do a couple things here and there, and get by, but I also have access to a creative team at my work and maybe we can work together on some stuff!
This is turning out to be great. Everyone pitching in. I am glad to see this. This is how xda should be. Thanks everyone. When i get this in full swing i will try to get everyone involved.

Finally had sometime to sit down and study. This seems easier them I originally thought it would be. I am going to start writing up a plan of attack for this project.
Also if people could start replying with what they look for in a theme (i.e. battery meter, transparent notification bar, themed apps, etc). If you want themed apps please list what apps.

Excitement! OFFICIAL "THANK THE DEVS" THREAD (AOSP threads discussion) +others
"OFF TOPIC" discussion welcome here
Latest thread regarding AOSP builds here :: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1393779
PLEASE :: NO SPECULATION ON KERNELS, BOOTLOADERS, CPU OVERCLOCK, ETC.. IN THAT THREAD.(((if u must ask something similar to that do it here. But be weary. As those questions have been answered countless times lately so a quick skim thru the pages will get u an answer. Don't get mad at somebody if they get frustrated at you for asking about the danged kernel/bootloader ))
Please keep it uncluttered by thanking/discussing related.posts here in this thread
Okay I just wanted to start this thread since I know im not the only one DIEING to express my excitement for the work going on with 2nd init.
It seems we have ourselves some VERY dedicated devs working on this. Even dragonzkiller stopping in here and there to add info and help out.
that thread has been very fun to read
Especially since it is almost empty of posts like this clogging it up LOL
So I wanted to give a spot for anyone reading that thread to come and express how they're feeling so we can hopefully leave that think tank thread nice and neat with informative posts only and none of these "thanks! Keep it up" posts. THAT is what this thread is for so please keep em here. I am sure the devs working on this will stop in now and again to see how everyone is feeling.
PLEASE THANK THEM BY POSTING HERE.
OR BY PRESSING THANKS BUTTON TO THEIR POSTS IN THINK TANK THREAD as requested by them. Please don't go there and post "thanks"
So who else is excited as hell?!
12/5/11 EDIT::
I am noticing MORE & MORE off topic posts and "thanks this is great" popping up in the 2nd init /AOSP part2 threads.
I edited the title to make it pretty obvious what thus thread is for.
PLEASE EVERYONE ----ANY DISCUSSION THAT ISN'T DEV RELATED(this includes "yay kernels, bootloader comments, let's hack it" IS MUCH BETTER SUITED IN THIS THREAD.
P.S. --- it would be REALLY awesome to see the posts unrelated to the dev in those threads to get edited away to "de clutter" so that others aren't so inclined to respond to them adding more clutter. Thanks if u do this. And I will thank your posts as well after u edit out the clutter.
Im just hoping to see a nice smooth thread where we can see what's going on exactly without needing to "wade" through things looking for the devs posts. Thanks for your time.
And again...this is getting even better EVERY DAY. Im loving this.
Me for one! Thanks for the thread, great idea! Now we can talk about what's happening openly.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
Well the progess that they are doing is GREAT I can't wait until it's complete. Only question which I didn't see in the other thread was that this 2nd int is to be a full functionality one that would allow the removal of the kernel and switch to a better one?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
thank you guys! you guys are freakin amazingg! keep up the awesome work!
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Im loving just watching these guys go back and forth on the irc...
And please if u come there to watch...try to keep the "chatter" down so they can focus...
If they ask something off topic or talk yo ya go ahead and respond....but when they are doing their things just sit back an enjoy
If ya wanna talk with someone while in the dx2 channel do a private query to them
Thanks
Nice they're in irc too. Every time I went in there nothing was happening.

I recommend going there..
And leaving a window open or just minimizing it and coming back to check.
When its quiet but they there they usually working on stuff...
Then all of sudden they start lighting it up wit a bunch of conversation ....then quiet again for a bit and so on...
Just very interesting stuff to read
Ash good job on making a different post for the average person to say thanks to these guys without filling their post with cludder. Everyone should just kick back and enjoy watching them work and say thank you here.
I might have to make an appearance in IRC tomorrow night.
Im glad that this is getting off of the ground. At least we can all see that the dev phone isnt going to waste. I'm never one to complain about waiting. I only complain when updates aren't being provided. So what if all of your attempts failed? At least we know you're trying!
Good work guys.

Very excited on the work that is going on in that thread, gives us hope and possibly getting a port of ICS in the future since I highly doubt we will get an official update.
They got it working. They started a new thread on rom development. Thanks to our great devs!

And the excitement once again comes to the x2 dev forum....I feel like when we first got eclipse
Very exciting news!!! Im very grateful for all the devs & themers putting in their own time to make our misfit phone a better device. Still think this phone has lots if hidden potential just waiting to be released!!! Thanks again guys!
Thanks ash! I was gonna post and say "thanks for the hard work guys" in the thread, but felt that would've just clutter it up. Thanks guys!!!
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
I am super psyched to see developers working on this device. I have been following what devs like aceoyame have been doing on both droidforums.net and here. I finally created this account simply to thank the devs. However, I can not find the thanks button, weirdly. Anyway, here I am thanking all the developers for their efforts.
Great idea ash! Thanks to all the x2 devs!!!
Eclipse 1.3 RC
I love this community, and I can't wait to see what will be coming over the next couple of weeks. This is surely a great day for the Droid X2.
As far as I know, this 2nd-init will allow us to load custom kernels on top of the stock kernel as long as the boot sequence can be hijacked and told not to panic.. Only time will tell.

Its for when CM9 merges I imagine. The x and the rest are framgented because they werent united for 7 (hence why GB is still unofficial) I think theyre trying to avoid that now.

A Thank You to the Devs

This is probably the most pointless thread that you will ever read on the Rez forum, but I had to post it. When I first got this phone, there wasn't much going on in this forum. Around Christmas, when we got the phone unlocked, this forum just blew up.
I just wanted to give a huge THANK YOU to all of the developers, themers, modders, testers, and trouble shooters who are making this phone so amazing. I know that what they do isn't easy. They don't do it for the money. They certainly have other things that they could be spending their time on that would be considered more important. They have lives just like us. They just do it because they love to do it, which I think is awesome.
So if you have a second, give an extra thanks to all of the devs, themers, and modders that are making this one of the best phones on the market right now. Maybe even toss them a couple of dollars for their hard work.
Another huge thanks for the work with the ICS leak. Now we have amazing ICS ROMs for everyone to use. The devs are seriously outdoing themselves. Make sure you donate or at the very least hit the thanks button on their threads!!! Doing that is free and it shows that you care that they're working their a**es off for you.
I concur. I am so grateful for all the time and effort the devs have put in to make our Rezounds the best it could be. When I get the chance I will definitely put in a donation to help the cause :-D
Sent from my Rezound
We need to show more appreciation to developers. Too many times do we as a community demand stuff from developers. I am sorry for any trouble I have caused and I hope developers see this thread as I hope it grows. I hope to support others to get involved too so we will never run out of stuff to do. We all need to be more open also. The more we say you can't use my work the more we look like apple. I understand people need to give credit but using work when giving credit should be smiled upon and will only result in better roms all together. So thank you to all who work on android phones.

Thanks devs for giving me something to fill my time with so I can avoid doing all the stuff that needs to be done around the house! That is not as fun as geeking out over my phone.
Here here, to the devs! We definitely do appreciate all of your hard work.
Thank You!!! Loving the work.
No, curse you for making me waste so much time reading the forums and tinkering with my shiny new phone!
Heh, yeah thanks all.
I agree a thank you is much needed. My phone is more awesome than HTC ever imagined due to the awesomeness of the developers. Thanks for everything

Big Thanks
Yeah definitely a BIG thanks. I remember around thanksgiving time we were all almost at each other's throats, arguing and bickering about S-Off. After the HTC-Dev unlock and ROMs started sprouting, the conflicts drastically decreased. Mainly in part to the Devs dropping ROMs for us to flash, and to our wonderful MODs keeping us in check. Once again thanks for all that you guys (and gals) do!!
Everyone should tweet at jcase and tell him you guys appreciate what he does. His twitter is @teamandirc

Bump for updated OP. ICS FTW!!!
A huge Thank you to all the Devs ! They work tirelessly for the love of android and developing, but its nice to send some donations their way for all the hard work. After seeing the hours that were put in on bringing us ICS and still maintaining a life and work it is amazing at what they do !
I am new to xda and HTC phones , before that I had an OG droid which I am finding was impossible to mess up compared to S-on Devices so its a learning curve. I have seen so much help amongst posters and devs that I have been able to learn on the go and avoid any major mistakes !
Thank you
Mike

I also applaud the patience and professionalism displayed under the pressure of unreasonable demands and rudeness put forth by the unenlightened!
My hat is off to all of you!

Nope. Glad to be here.
Yep, I'm really impressed at how much the developers have accomplished in such a short amount of time since this device released! It's been like, what, a little over 2 weeks? Yet we already have root, an unlocked bootloader, a way to get back to factory stock, and a bunch of custom roms! This dev community has helped to create a bright future for Verizon's Note II and I can't wait to see what else they have in store!
For me this site the awesome work done by so many devs here is why I run an Android device, who wants a walled garden or a phone everyone else has when you can be as custom and crazy as you want to be. Thanks to all who make this a great community to be a part of.

My thought to the ETA guys is "if you want it done so fast then do it yourself" I think the team working on the note are some of the best out there...I mean this thing has been out 3 weeks and beanstown106 has already kicked out like 3 ROMs. I mean these guys could punch out roms faster but theyd be buggy as crap. Personally if im putting my name on something its gonna be right. Its crazy. We are just scratching the surface of the dev/mod potential of this phone I think. This is my first Sammy and I'm so glad I made the jump.
I've been following this community since the day it was posted on xda. I've been following everything going on and even donated here and there. I've read and studied every single page lol. I won't be getting my note till after Christmas, but it's okay I feel like a Odin pro by now. Lol. I too wan to shout out a HUGE Thanks. These devs deserve every bit of it.

Open letter of thanks

Hey Peeps-
Just Saying thanks for all your work on the DNA. This is my first smart phone and when I saw the specs on it I knew it was the one for me. Once I realized I could do it I rooted it. It took many hours but I persevered without bricking it. I managed it with the wealth of info on this site and Hansoon's DNA kit, I couldn't stand all the bloat that was on it and wanted to get rid of it.
That empowered me to start trying other kernel's and ROM's. The One I used most was Torrented's (I think his first) ROM. Then Newt came out with his Sense 5 ROM and with that I got to use Zarboz' Beastmode.
I want to say, to everyone on this site, "Thanks much. I truly appreciate the work and help you all have contributed."
I further would like to thank those folks in particular whose technical/creative output was so freely given, that I have used and has made my experience with my first smart phone a great one.
Special thanks to:
• Hansoon
• .Torrented
• Newtoroot
• Zarboz
• Micromod777
• xdadevelopers.com
Thanks much!!!
Sincerly,
-Jannock
Don't forget jcase and beaups who got us to unlock and s-off our phones :good:
Dsb for the unsecure kernel; zarboz, elkay, crpalmer, and Dsb for providing custom kernels.
Nitsuj for the two roms he made.
