Xperia Mini Pro SE pc companion updates after unlock & root - Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini, Mini Pro, Xperia Pro, A

Hello, I would like to start by saying a big thanks to everyone in this forum for their effort and their great work.
Model name: SK17i
Firstly i upgraded to 4.0.2.A.0.42 from SE using pc companion and then i followed some guides from the dev section to unlock the boot manager and root the device.
1) i used doomlord's script to root the device
2) i decided to unlock the boot manager for future CM installation
I was thinking if it is possible to get SE upgrades using pc companion without bricking my phone.

Hello I would also like to get an answer to this question.
My girlfriend owns a SE xperia mini pro (model SK17i) and have unlocked the bootmanager and also rooted it with doomlord's script.
I want to know if I will be able to upgrade it using PC Companion without the risk to brick her phone (I have read different posts about phones that got bricked when bootmanagers were unlocked)
Thanks

[Q] r00ting guide for X10 Mini Pro?

Hey peeps,
I have read the quick guide in terms of rooting the X10 mini via a '1 Touch Rooting Method' but is it safe to use this guide when rooting the X10 Mini Pro? So that mods are aware I did use the search tool first to find guides on how to root so that I can install custom ROMs but I couldn't find anything on the X10 Mini Pro, some other similar links were dead too.
I just bought this phone today from the Car Phone Warehouse and I don't want to brick my device, I have successfully rooted both the HTC Desire and Wildfire before and installed custom ROMs so I have some knowledge, but any help from you guys would be much appreciated! Thank you...
Search for z4 root dude cant post links from phone dude

You cant "brick" any of the xperia phones since the bootloader is not cracked. Worst thing that could happen is that you have to reflash your phone using flashtool or pc companion/seus.

[Q] need help on updating my x10a to 2.3.3

Hello, I am very new to smartphones and I need some help about a few things. I tried to find some answers on the forums first before posting, but the amount of new information is quite staggering and I got confused in no time. If I missed any important information for newbs like me please direct me there. I do have good knowledge of PC and programming in general, but so far nothing at all about smartphones.
I have an unlocked Xperia x10a, not rooted, originally from Rogers in Canada now using Fido. I'm running Windows XP SP3 on my PC. I just found out that a month ago Sony Ericsson released a new android update for it that's 2.3.3, but mine is still 2.1.1 and PC Companion says there are no updates when I checked today. Does anyone know if it's officially available in Canada yet?
1. "Carrier-Free"
While I was reading the Sony Ericsson blog about the 2.3.3 upgrade, I noticed it mentioned that the device must be "carrier-free". Is this where "debranding" comes in? I found a link to a website about it:
An easy guide to debranding your handset
but most of the recent comments on there are saying it no longer works. The author made and update that mentioned another way of doing it entirely using the PC companion's "repair" function. Can anyone confirm if that's still a safe way to do it? If not, what's the most common and safest way to do it, and is it absolutely necessary for getting the upgrade?
2. "Flashing"
Is it harmful to my phone by any chance? I'd rather not touch it if there's a good chance that it will break my phone. My understanding so far is that if I want the update or to root my phone this is required? Is the Flashtool found HERE still safe to use today for updating to 2.3.3?
Sorry for the long post, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. Thanks in advance as I try to cram the beginner stuffs in.
Using flashtool is probably the best way for you to get Android 2.3 on your phone.
All you have to do is download and install flashtool on your computer.
There are a numerous number of guides on here that can help you.

Simplest way to do is root your phone using flashtool, then ask permission and install Xrecovery.
Then flash your decided custom 2.3.3 ROM via Xrecovery.
All you have to do is read, read all instructions related rooting 2.1 and flashing new rom on X10 android development carefully.
Just ask me if you need some help.

Yay the 2.3.3 update was released on PC companion today for my phone, so I guess no need to go through the flashing process now
But I guess I will still try to root the phone after the update finishes, so I can get rid of those annoy carrier-bundled apps that keeps running no matter how many times I try to stop them...

Xperia Neo Rooting

Hey guys im new in this forum,i have been trying to root my neo with the assistance of easy rooting without flashing( by the way my android version but on 2.3.4) but it always says failed and unable to copy superuser and other essential files i mean do i need to unlock bootloader in order to root?
Im realy sad plzz help this Out.
My recomendation is to unlock bootloader using testpoint method (if you're doing using SE official method, you'll void warranty) install CWM and then flash rootxperia.zip
Please use search function. This information is already published in this forum and there is no need of a new thread for same questions. Thanks

Ok, I have that, I tried to root and unlock it the same as I did with the x10 it didn't work. Do I have to flash anything in flashtool? Follow the official unlock method (from Sony) or do something els?

I think you unlock x10 using something like easy 1 click similar stuff.
That method is not available with xperia s. As of now, the only way to root is to flash a pre root image. In order to do so, you need to unlock bootloader which also means, you will lose the DRM key.
You can get the full tutorial in the development section.
I know, I followed the instruction only to get stuck at step 13.
if I do this My PC says He couldn.t find any comparable drivers.
here is a screenshot, mayb someone can see where I did What incorrect?
everything worktoud wit an other link for the xperia arc files,
just flast doomlord's latest kernel, looking for wifi files and then I'm ready
