Hi, i find this very weird, my T-Mobile G2 Touch (HTC Hero) lasts easily 2 days with 1 charge. I'm now using a ICS 4.0.1 rom made by '
Glassmacka'' and i'm verry happy with it. Before this I tried several Gingerbread roms and the Cronosproject rom was the fastest and most stable one for me and my phone lasted 2 and a half day with that rom. So I advice you to try those roms.
Cheers.

I'm using decked too n i get 2-3days battery sometimes, wat i realised is battery, drains faster when mobile network is on,so i leave it off most of the time....

Have you tried reducing the max CPU speed in perf. settings? Higher CPU speeds increase performance at a cost of lower battery life

I've tried several gingerbread roms (Decked X, Cronos, Elelinux-7.1, Ligux) and they all drain the battery in less than 1 day. It's not terrible when my phone is just sitting there (e.g. overnight) but when I start using it the battery gets drained by about 1% each minute or two. When I look at what is using up the battery, Display is always the biggest user by far. I have brightness set to the lowest setting.
I tried a few different kernels, LV 0.5 and 1.0 and FlyKernel 13. I have the latest radio installed, 63.18.55.06SU_6.35.17.03.
I have tried different min/max CPU frequencies but they haven't affected the battery life substantially.
Right now I'm using the Elelinux-7.1 rom with ONDEMAND governor (245/576MHz), JIT enabled, surface dithering disabled, 16bit transparency disabled, and Compcache RAM disabled.
Your help is appreciated

yeah what your saying spot on. i generally get about a day and a few hours with the decked rom. but yes there is a horrible battery drain when the screen is on. i also find that sometimes the battery will go down as much as 2% per min or two which i'm sure can't be normal
however, in standby mode the battery hardly depletes, with the decked rom i find that when in standby the battery will only deplete by maybe 1% or 2% overnight. on a few occasions i've woken up in the morning to find the battery at exactly the same percentage i left it when going to sleep

I installed EleLinux 7.1 with the last Radio, used Swapper2 and partition with Swap my Sd Card.
The battery now is 48h before charging, with normal use and 3G always connected.

WOW
Wow, nice battery life you got there... 3G always on?... I need to tinker my hero again, I guess

Finally I didn't install LasVenturas Kernel. Looks like it will realy improve my battery life, but I read about it and it saids that USB is in beta and could fail several times.
Anyway, Data mobile connected 24/7 and 48h.
Just amazed about EleLinux nice work!!

Decked here (though, HabaDecked version) and my phone has: 1d, 20h, 16 mins and still 57% battery remaining. My display was using the most battery (40%) followed by Cell standby with 22%.
On topic:
You don't need to flash roms like crazy or change them because your battery life is poor. The rom entity doesn't have direct effect on the battery as the kernel has.
Leave your current rom (or install any rom you want - wipe everything), give your phone time to 'swallow' the new rom and 'settle' with it. Basically you did said that the battery is new and the battery isn't fully calibrated (which will settle down in 2 or 3 days), therefore the battery stats displays erroneous data!

Anyone else getting -crazy- good battery life?

I don't heavily use my phone, maybe medium usage. However, I usually get over 20 hours of battery life every day, if I don't charge when I hit 20%.

Is this... Normal, or is this... Accurate? I haven't timed the actual hours, only went on the time given by the battery usage app. I -have- calibrated the battery correctly after flashing to CM7.1 nightly (not after each flash, just the first flash).
My old phone (3GS) had about 6-7 hours less, I'm very impressed.
I'm experiencing similar battery life ever since installing Cognition + Entropy and using battery calibration. The battery died fairly quick when stock though.

I admit my usage is pretty light, but 14h to 60% is poor for my usage patterns.
However there seems to be a lot of awake/screen-on time for you...
As to battery calibration - doesn't do anything on our phones except possibly make the fuel gauge COMPLETELY wack out, triggering the fuel_alert wakelock bug. (next kernel will fix that bug though - not the root cause of the fuel gauge wacking out but at least the perma-wakelock it causes.)
I'm stock and getting 18 hours of battery, 5.5 hours of screen on time. This its with live wallpapers, Facebook widgets, etc.

I'm on CM7.1 nightlies. They're amazing. I have tasker running, turnning off wifi and bluetooth and 3G/HSPA+ when not in use. But seeing that people are getting similar or better battery usage is crazy. I can't believe it to be honest. When my 3GS was brand new it didn't get close to this.
Very impressed overall.
I'm lucky to get 2 hours of screen time...

2hr phone call, 5 hours of local mp3 and another 2 of Pandora on 3G, and some gaming and I'm at 41%. My N1 with CM7 would have died long ago.
i am getting horrible battery life if the average is 14 hours of moderate use... eitehr that or i am a heavy user and dont realize it
Hi, I'm new to XDA...
I have the i777.
How can so many hours of battery life be achieved? I have stock everything. Does CM7 really make the batter life last much longer?
I was getting terrible battery life using the stock ATT build but since switching to CM7 its been a lot better. Sitting at 13 hrs with 26% left. I am trying to figure out why the Android system for me seems to run really high (70% or more). I have sync turned off, no GPS or BT and only use Wifi when needed. I will say that looking at CPU Spy since moving to CM7 my phone is getting into more Deep Sleep which is good. I notice that Google Maps runs a lot as well as the NFC service. Its confusing because NFC isn't even enabled on the phone? Any ideas to lower Android OS would be appreciated.

Interesting. For me on stock, the Display is always the highest percentage.
"Normal" usage, I get at least 24 hours. Haven't tested it since I rooted it and installed UnNamed ROM yesterday...

Those are the correct stats.
One of the main contributions CM7 has to battery life is plain and simple debloating.
For those that have unexplained drain issues, the following technique is useful:
Install CPUSpy
Get ADB up and running on your PC - for Windows users, Droid Explorer is usually the quickest route
Charge your phone, take it off the charger, reboot (this resets all stats)
Reset CPU timers in CPUSpy (menu->reset timers) - they're often bogus on boot
Let the phone sit for a few hours
Check CPUSpy for deep sleep percentages - when a phone is idle in moderate signal, it should usually be 90-95%. On wifi you can potentially hit 96-97%.
If the deep sleep percentage is very low, collect data using ADB:
Code:
adb shell cat /proc/wakelocks > wakelocks.txt
Post wakelocks.txt here for analysis.
I got JuiceDefenderUlt and I actually think it's well worth the $. I used it heavily today during for about 5 hours and it didn't dip below 80%, very suprising when bfore JDU it would be at 50-60%. I think I can probably go 2 days without a charge and it might survive.
Everyone 's definition of "medium" or "high" usage is different. Need to post some display numbers.
I think my best one was 95% battery to below 5%, 4 hours and 30 minutes of screen on time, 16 hours on battery.

I love this phone to death, but the battery life is unaccepatable by anyone's standar

I've done almost everything to fox my battery life in this thing - you name it! I did Jug's 1% battery fix, I calibrated it by draining the battery and then unplugging to get the Question Mark battery symbol and charged from there, I got a fresh battery from Anker and charged it 24 hours prior to use, I flashed numerous ROMs in full battery charge, enabled JuiceDefender and underclocked my device off screen, and YET I STILL GET 3 HOURS OF BATTERY LIFE ON SCREEN. It's probably the most frustrating technological thing I've been through in a portable device.
My radio is 1.77.30.
I'm completely tired of this phone and its battery. Should I reflash the radio? Does anybody (from ALL these amazing stories of battery life of 7+ hours of on s screen moderate" use
post their setting of ROM radio and clock to better detail? I'm desperate for anything even if it comes to complete replication.
**edit**
UPDATE: I flashed Alien the other day. It's only been two days and I'm experiencing 4 hours and a half of on screen time on a single charge.
I carry an extra battery since their so damn portable. So in total I get 9 hours of continuous use doing anything (14 hours in call.) Not bad.
I'm looking for an atrix with 2.2 (froyo,) though. It's my last measure against battery health and this phone is the best beast of a phone I'd have.
I don't use Juice Defender, nor do I truly overclock at all (besides off screen). Syncing is off. Everything else is normal. I'm thinking of applying the SuperCharger update thing. It'll probably give me a slight extra boost and I'll have 10 hours of moderate use. (real moderate use, not in pocket for 10 hours)
So yeah. Underclock to 312 mhz Max off screen using CPU Tuner and use only one core. Manually enable data by using a widget on screen called Data Enabler instead of using that program Juice Defender. Flash Alien v4. And you're done. (oh, and use Supercharger script) - which I'll do later.
Yup, i've just flashed back to complete stock and am going to try all of this over again.

The battery life is ridiculous, i shutdown wifi.....forever, 3g that i need so much for my business mails....shutdown...got SetCPU to undervolt stuff and in the end i always get the same result: less than a day of IDLE phone plain simple IDLE!!!
I got "watchdog" from market and it checks threshold of apps against the cpu, removed google+ app that was going over 20% cpu on idle, same with 2 more apps, removed.
If i power use the fone i get what, 2 hours less than if i just use it normaly...thats bad bad.
Pls post your results, i am on Orange France with faux kernel (d00 something, the international one).
What rom are you using? Mine's on Alien and I can take 2 days straight on idle. And still have 20% batt left.
I'm on Cherryblur 1.4d right now. I've been through Alien, Darkside, Ninja Speed Freak, CM7, Red Pill and stock gingerbread. Basically, I'm a ROM whore.
Hmm.. is the battery on your alien better than cherry blur?
maybe you should calibrate your battery by discharging it fully till it offs, charging it fully overnight then calibrating it using the software called "batery calibration" from the market.
For me battery life is one of my favorite things with this phone. Although to be fair I decided to stay on Stock Froyo to keep it that way. Still waiting to see how ICS will play out...

If you are constantly switching Roms like I am assuming you are doing. The battery life is going to be bad until you let one of them "Settle". I had the same issue with one of my phones getting crap battery life until I stopped switching roms constantly and the battery got used to what I was using. Once I did that the battery got quite a bit better over about a week.

I figured that to be happening, but then I never really thought it would help even if I did stock with one. I mean, what can change within a week when a ROM follows the same patter or algorithm. But ill give it a try.
What rom do you use?
Probably you thought of this already, but do you maybe use a specific soon on all the rooms roms? Maybe that app keeps your phone awake and used battery. What does the battery manager say about usage?
Darkside was what I was using before I switched over to the ATRIX 2. Don't get me wrong nothing wrong with the og I just like the size and build a bit better on the a2.
batterylife really depends a lot on the roms. even with calibrating the last cm7 nightly sucked the hell outta my battery overnight (~25% in 5h doing nothing but sleeping).
unfortunately mod-kernels don't work on cm7 b2 yet
I use Aura or The DarkSide for a ROM and I can usually get 1-2 days of battery with consistent use before I have to charge it again. It also helps battery life to not OC. I've used other ROM's, but these two seem to be the best for battery life, functionality, and speed out of all the ROM's.
Do you have any apps constantly running? Check your battery stats and see what uses the most battery. JuiceDefender has actually been reported to use more battery than it saves, especially if you're already using a ROM and/or MOD's that are suppose to help your battery life. Maybe it's just your individual device, though. There's always going to be faulty devices when it comes to technology. If you can't find a fix, I would try getting it replaced, if possible.
Then I'll stick to a ROM. I'm not sure which one I'm going to stick with. Maybe Darkside. Red Pill, however, offers some of the best comments for battery life I've heard. To choose, to choose...
And no, no constant apps running. I try to keep everything as simple as I can until I fix this problem.
my battery life has gotten a little better since i went to the Alien ROM, now getting about 10 - 12 hours before a charge. I do use my phone really heavy throughout the day though.
Huge improvement with mine. Just flashed the new cm7 and decided to give faux's kernel a try.
I don't have a problem with my battery. The massive problem is when you have LWP running. I'd get 12 hours a day during normal operation.
Form is temporary but Class is permanent. I love Liverpool FC.

flash homebase(blue chronic) with blue chronic 6.2 update and then use titanium backup to freeze gmail and all social services. also calibrate your battery by completely drain your battery and charge to full, you might need to do that a few times. with this setup i usually get 36 hours of phone idle and 2-3 hours of screen time and thats with the cpu clocked to 1.3ghz. everything is fast and smooth with this rom.

I get around 16hrs. dual core constant, FB, words with friends, texting, winamp with bluetooth headphones.
Do you have that sync enabled in the background, that drains power.
Three things turn GPS off when not using turn auto brightness off and dim it down till you are happy.. Also make sure you don't have any 3rd party apps keeping your phone awake..
I can get about 24hrs of use outta my phone moderate use or more.. Calls, texts, xda app,youtube.. Anyway I am also on stock kernel... I use a Seidio 1900 mha batt slightly better compared to stock batt. Stock battery I could get about 18hrs with moderate use... If your on your phone playing for 6 to 4 hrs str8 that may kill your phone quicker lol.. Display is the main thing eatin up the juice...
In almost every bad battery post I always see bad signal. Turn off turn off the 4G unless you are actively using it.
This is what pisses me off about HTC phones lol. In battery threads all you see is "turn off, turn off, turn off." We've come so accustomed to it that we actually feel this is routine. It sucks.

freeza has ramdisk mods that help with battery life (old and new base)
my kernels also get great battery life (old base)
(depending on apps installed on ur device)
both these options help a lot, without disabling stuff
on warm 3.5 build 116 and my r14 kernel, default settings - i get 26-28 hours between charges with light to moderate use
heavy use - abt 14-16 hours (with over 70% of battery going on screen-on - lcd backlight will drain battery FAST...nothing to really do abt it except lower brightness)

Surely GPS won't actually be doing anything unless it's actively being used by Android, even if it is 'on'?
BTW... that guy on the first page.. under 4 hours and his battery is almost dead? Seems a little weird.. that's not right unless it's constant usage?

ICS 4.0.4 and Razr Maxx battery life?

I had the Galaxy S2 Sprint version before this phone and when I upgraded it to the ICS the battery life dropped because of the UI using more power. I'm guessing that when the official ICS comes out for this phone it should drop too...and that's the main reason why I like the razr maxx is because of the ridiculous battery life.
Even w ics on 3g I was still getting 5+ hrs screen on time. Its really not an issue as far as battery is concerned on the maxx. Its very good

Good for who? The battery life since the ICS 4.04 update on my device 2 days ago, has been cut by about 50% ....on 2.3.6 GB i was getting 30+ hours on a full charge with moderate usage, now the same usage renders my battery dead at 17 hrs. while it blows away my Tbolt I am concerned that over time this device will prove to be a battery Hog like every other Android Device.....Goodbye ICS, I need battery not eye candy!!
Under GB, my total Android System and Android OS battery usage was always under 10%. On ICS, my total is currently 16%. So I'm losing at least 6% with ICS. Nothing major, but it is a decrease.
I've had the OTA upgrade since Saturday and I haven't seen any appreciable degradation in battery life. I use my phone a lot for calls, texting, email, and streaming media
I have the Maxx and was getting great battery life on GB... I could easily go 2 days without a charge.
I keep it on 3g only most of the time...
On ICS, using the thunderbolt radio switcher to keep me on 3g, I went from 100% to 70% battery in 30 minutes!!
I don't have any crap apps hogging battery, nor am I still playing with all the new features.
Something has got to give... I'm hoping some devs can figure this one out soon.
Hi.. I'm from Malaysia.. I received my official ICS update for my RAZR Maxx about a week ago.. And the battery performance compared to GB is the battery life decreased..
On GB i would last 1 day 12 hours plus in my normal use.. Now with ICS i can only go for average 20 hours to 25 hours max. For me there's a huge differences compared to GB.
I tried factory default reset from the OS and even from the bootloader and fully charged my handphone to 100%. But still.. The performance is still the same.. Some say we need to wait until a few cycle for the battery to improve the performance and so far i didn't see any significant improvement..
Anyone can give my any other suggestions for this problem? And i hope Motorola will come out fixes for this issue..

I use Bootmenu to access recovery. From recovey you perform the wipes.
I use Juice Defender Ultimate to help monitor and control/toggle some phone behaviours. Information is power, use the GSam battery monitor to help you detect apps that are battery hungry. Certain adjustments can save you both battery and data. I use Friendcaster instead of the android client for Facebook. Friendcaster consumes way less battery and data than the Android client. I was aware of this after a face to face between them using both GSAM for battery and Onavo for data.
My ROM (Epsilon 3) allows for HotplugX governor, I set my governor using Setcpu.
Finally for calibration I use Battery Calibration.
Hope it helps you! :fingers-crossed:

does the samsung galaxy s3 have signal and battery issues ?

hi everyone this is my first thread and i am glad to be here
i have a question
i am thinking of buying the samsung galaxy s3 but i read that some people are complaining about the signal and the battery and i wanted to know is an issue in the carrier or from the phone itself ? and is it a problem on all of the samsung galaxy s3 phones ?
Well this S3 is the smartphone with the longest battery life I ever got.
I would say it is twice the nexus one or LG X2 I had before and 4 times my older Basic Galaxy.
Reception is very good and Wifi is also the best I have ever seen.
Battery life is fantastic and signal strength is also fantastic (both better than any other android phone I've ever owned). I've found wifi strength can be a bit lacking but not to the point where it becomes a problem.
Same as above, no signal or battery issues. Battery is very long-lasting.
Only issue I've had so far was a wakelock keeping the phone awake all night and draining it, but that can happen on any device.
Good reception and battery life. Gotta be happy with 6 hours screen time.

very impresive man..btw my s3 doesnt have any signal or battery issues
i think my have battery problem, it don even last me a day and i dont even use it that much and also mine gets very hot when charging it
Believe me after coming from a LG optimus 3D i would say the battery life is awesome. LG optimus 3d battery life with heavy usage 3 hours no usage 5. S3 with heavy usage 15 hours or more, no usage i have no idea last time i left it on idle to check it was almost 2 days..
That is comparing a dual core to a quad core phone the battery is simply amazing and the signal hasn't dropped for me at all it is excellent..
I'm having battery issues. Cell standby seems to use a crap load of battery for seemingly no reason.
This pic is just over night. I went to bed with 100% battery and woke up with these battery stats:
Battery life is not a issue in this mobile..its awesome..even signal strength is also fine so till now no probs at all ..
So I'm having major battery issues. After 2 hours of light use my battery is down to 84%. Tried to post screen shots of the battery usage but can't upload .png file. Basically the android system is consuming almost 90% of the battery. After 4 hours it is almost half dead and by 8 hours less than 20% left. Very frustrating. Power saving mode is on.
Ok so i was able to attach an image showing a screenshot I took yesterday showing the terrible battery life.

My problem exactly. Cell standby is giving my battery a hard time. On Voodafone now.
IMO High Cell standby power drains suggests your signal is weak?? chaning your wireless network settings may help Eg: 4G on or off, roaming etc. High Android system drains suggest unnecessary systems always running. I would try turning off any unused apps, GPS, etc & lowering display brightness. I think I'm going to get this phone tomorrow.
