Battery time of a EVO 3d? - HTC EVO 3D

I have an HTC Evo 3d, but I'm really disappointed of the time of the battery. I barely have energy for one day...
Could you tell what is your situation to see if this a common thing for this device or is only my phone...

Stock or Custom ROM?

freeza i am so trolling you right now... its on

I use a stock ROM.

adjust your autobrightness settings and set it to manual/fixed mode.
if you are making it through one day with moderate use on a stock battery, you aren't doing too bad.

welcome to evo...
I get around 16hrs. dual core constant, FB, words with friends, texting, winamp with bluetooth headphones.

Do you have that sync enabled in the background, that drains power.

Three things turn GPS off when not using turn auto brightness off and dim it down till you are happy.. Also make sure you don't have any 3rd party apps keeping your phone awake..
I can get about 24hrs of use outta my phone moderate use or more.. Calls, texts, xda app,youtube.. Anyway I am also on stock kernel... I use a Seidio 1900 mha batt slightly better compared to stock batt. Stock battery I could get about 18hrs with moderate use... If your on your phone playing for 6 to 4 hrs str8 that may kill your phone quicker lol.. Display is the main thing eatin up the juice...

In almost every bad battery post I always see bad signal. Turn off turn off the 4G unless you are actively using it.

This is what pisses me off about HTC phones lol. In battery threads all you see is "turn off, turn off, turn off." We've come so accustomed to it that we actually feel this is routine. It sucks.

Its all on the rom and how much you use it. I'm using mean 1.5 and i get a day easy, if i don't use it I'll get 3,4 days of standby. Screen brightness all the way up GPS always on doesn't effect me at all.
So if your oced and consistantly streaming video or playing a game yeah there is no way to help you besides get a laptop

freeza has ramdisk mods that help with battery life (old and new base)
my kernels also get great battery life (old base)
(depending on apps installed on ur device)
both these options help a lot, without disabling stuff
on warm 3.5 build 116 and my r14 kernel, default settings - i get 26-28 hours between charges with light to moderate use
heavy use - abt 14-16 hours (with over 70% of battery going on screen-on - lcd backlight will drain battery FAST...nothing to really do abt it except lower brightness)

Surely GPS won't actually be doing anything unless it's actively being used by Android, even if it is 'on'?
BTW... that guy on the first page.. under 4 hours and his battery is almost dead? Seems a little weird.. that's not right unless it's constant usage?

Faulty battery?

Hi guys,
I bought EVO 3d about 4 days ago and I'm really not sure if I have faulty battery or not.
I had wildfire,so maybe I'm little bit spoiled with its good battery life..
For example I'm now browsing and using tapatalk only, with brightness on lowest setting (even capacitive buttons are turned off via screen filter) and after 1,5 hour phone takes 20% of battery!!
Sys info showing that 90% is consumed by display.
Is it normal or not?
It doesn't look like ok to me..:/
I can still return EVO and get desire s instead,if it doesn't have battery life issues...
Thnx for replies
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D using Tapatalk
So after this day I have 17 hours without charging, around 5 hours of using dispaly (4h on lowest bright. set. and 1 hour of 60%) this drains 70% of all consumed power
Rest is wifi, some cpu time etc..
Is it ok or not? I had wildfire and battery life with surfing and reading books was unstoppable..
I can also switch this phone for Desire S, but I have no idea how long battery life it has..
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D using Tapatalk
Get another battery. Also are you rooted and overclocked?
no, everything is stock, unless bunch of apps.. but ia I said, everything is consumed by lcd.. another battery on 4 days old phone sounds really bad [and hurt my wallet ]
how long you can go with yours ? how many hours can yours display handle on one charge ?
I really needsone help here. When I charge my batt. fully (green light) put out charger and turn it off and on again I can charge it again for really long time (for example 30+min) and I can do this multiple times.. charging time is shorter each time..
I tried this procedure twice and seems to be same..
I need some battery reset or something, I read some topics about it,but I'm not sure what to do. And i don't have rooted phone.
What should I do in this situation, without rooting device? (which I have never done before and I'm afraid of bricking my phone )

I get about 14 hours on a full charge man if I do lil to nothing such as text some youtube and xda and what not I can go a day without charging.
Anyways haven't had any issues.
I can get all day with small use too, but I wanted to know the real number of hours with turned on display, the value from default battry usage application which counts time for display separately.
I have had the same issues as you with battery, I'm rooted and on a custom ROM (steel rom) and battery life has been much better, also they sent an ota update by HTC that is supposedly going to make battery life better

oh.. maybe its not battery problem but it's standar behavior :/ thats why I asked if is there huge difference between evo and desire S, which I can get insted of evo,[for the same price] I know desire is worse in many aspects [and dispay is really small, comapre to evo] but what is the point of having superb phone, when I have to switch off every auto function and half of widgets only to have one day of use because of crappy batery life...??
I'll gladly have worse piece of hardware [which is not that much regards to normal use - web/mail/phone] if it can stay alive twice as long. But as I said I have no idea how are other smart phones capable to stay alive these days..
I had only wildfire, and it was good.

How much screen on time did you have? how long has it been since you flashed your current set up?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA App
sorry forgot that shot....i rooted and flashed on either Sunday or Monday this week.....now i do use bluetooth for work so i'm thinking that kills the battery big time....
That is kind of good battery life considering you got almost four hours of screen on time. If your really worried then you should get one of the 3500 mah batteries. I have this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21589969. This battery gets me through at least a day and a half of heavy usage, and it works great for the price.
yeah i wasn't sure...i always keep reading about people getting 1.5-2 days on a battery...it's a new toy so hopefully when the excitement wears off that screen won't be on so much
That's exactly what will happen. You have new phone syndrome. I did too, when I first got my Galaxy S2. Except that I, unlike you, was running stock unrooted, and my battery life was more like 8 hours. I'm now running stock rooted with Entropy's kernel, plus I don't use my phone as much, and I get between 15 and 20 hours.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
Yeah...with almost 4 hours screen on, and mostly on cell data (assumption based on your 2.x hours of wifi on) that isn't too horrible. Your total awake time is about an hour more than screen on, so assuming you had phone calls, music playing, or some other screen off background task to account for some of that, you're doing pretty good...

LOL so I'm guessing the best way to really conserve battery is to keep the screen off. Just outta curiousity (which I will test tonight after full charge) what is an acceptable drop rate when phone is fully asleep for say 8 hours or so. Like what 1-2% an hour?

2%/hour idle drain I consider bad - that's why I haven't released a kernel since 1/2/2012 - I have a power management regression that pushes drain to a bit over 2%/hour when connected to wifi.
I strive for 0.5%/hour and get very close to that frequently when in a good signal area. In a weak signal area (like at my desk at work), it's around 1%/hour.
4.5%/hour or so is the idle drain you'll get if the phone is unable to enter deep sleep.

(q) Ics severe battery drain. any fixes?

So I've gradually been trying every ics Rom on xda including stock ruu leaks. With 4g off no CPU monitor or manager. The max I've gotten is 6-8 hours with less than 1 minute of screen on time on some occasions. My gb battery life is great. People are saying the latest leak is gonna be the ota if so how am I supposed to get greater or equal battery life to gb?

I'm not sure, maybe you keep getting bad installs? Maybe you should try to RUU to the latest so you can get the better radios, Idk.
I get essentially the exact same battery life on ICS as I do with GB. I posted my stats in the battery stats thread, but I can get about 24 hours off the charger, with 3.5 hours screen on with 4G on, when I'm in an area with it, on ICS and GB.
Also, by RUU are you having it flash everything, including the radios? Or are you just flashing a zip of a rom based off of an RUU?
I made sure I flashed with the ruu in hboot. And on any of them I get a fraction of my battery life. It's very frustrating. I'm s-off too. Ics just hates my phone I really hope the ota works for me. So anyone have any idea why I can't use any leak ? Should I ruu back to to stock then maybe ruu the New Ics leak?

you say screentime may be low, but does it show that your phone stays sleeping or is there a lot of awake time compared to the screentime? There might either be a rogue app or something that keeps running and wont let it sleep. Might try installing a battery monitor like Battery Monitor Widget to see what is draining your battery so much. BetterBatteryStats is a much better app, but costs $3. Bit pricey for something I might rarely use

I bought betterbatterystats a couple weeks ago cause I was hoping that is was just a rogue app draining juice, but my awake time was pretty normal I dont remember the exact stats. The latest leak I just flashed turned off 4g lowered brightness and screen timeout. I didn't even install any apps so I could give the battery life a test drive. My battery dropped 15 in less than an hour without use. There's gotta be some reason why its sooo much less on ics than gb. I'm thinking about ruuing stock gb then hboot factory reset the newest ics ruu and con Rom. Anyone think it would help?

anybody can get that with an extended battery. reason it's idling that long is because you aren't using it. if you'd manage 2.5 days with over 5 hours of screen on time then I'd be impressed
It's not screen on time, but streaming Pandora or slacker for 8 hrs a day, facebook, web browsing, texts and calls throughout the day all with 4g running
I'm getting a replacement phone tomorrow so I wonder if that one can handle ics.

I had hell with ics on my phone was getting crappy battery life and some heat issues. I was getting upset because I couldn't get it to work. Finally got it up and running with good battery and hardly any heat. What I had to do was flash the ruu, go back to fastboot do factory reset, flash again, another factory reset and its now working. Most people say flash twice and do a reset but that didn't work so I did a reset between flashes and so far its doing good.
Edit added some pics. Those stats are with extended battery.

Refurb handles ics like a champ. 6 hours on battery and at 89. Old phone would have been at 60 on gb and dead on ics. Looks like a lot of issues I had on the old one weren't normal. Like flickering led for flashlight and USB port disconnecting if I moved it just a little, also my proximity sensor didn't always work. So far I'm happier with this phone.

Mine seems to wear down faster than it used to (not nearly as fast as the BAMF leak). I wouldn't call it twice as fast, just faster. What I have noticed is it also charges quite a bit faster than it used to. I like the faster battery charge, unless it's just giving us a false reading when it's not really full, which might also explain the quicker wear down.
I use the extended battery so wear down is less of an issue for me.
Make sure you check the battery menu under system settings. The first time for me the light turned green but under that menu it said it was still at 78 pct

I'm running liquid's ics (jmod) public beta 2 with the combo radio and my battery life is awesome. I haven't run it down yet, but it's easily lasting twice as long as my old gingerbread rom which could go a day without a charge and light use. When it's idling in ICS, the battery life seems to hardly drop at all.
I think I figured out why my battery wears down quicker. I've always kept LTE turned off. It's been on lately, so that would account for my additional battery drain.
I set battery percentage to show up on my lock screen, so it's easy to see the battery percent without going through the menu.
I got over 13 hrs. today. Most of the day I put the phone in CDMA evdo auto which helped a lot. I work in a lot of areas that don't get 4g so it drains my battery super fast searching for a signal all day.

I don't know if I accidentally did that while playing with all the settings, or if everyone else's is doing that too. Either way, I'm pretty sure that will affect my battery life as well.
Edit: A reboot seems to have cured my backlight issue.

My battery life has been horrible for months. I can leave my phone plugged in all night and it will only charge to 52%. If I turn it off and charge it for a couple hours it'll read 72%. That is as high as I can get it to go. No fully charged. For about the last 3 weeks it'll drain in about 2 hours. I've been running the new radio recently and still see no change. I even turn off LTE and still don't see much of a difference. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Drain it and charge 8 hours with it off then reset battery memory.

[Q] Battery Degradation/Battery Life Question

Over the course of the past month I've appeared to have a drastic decrease in battery life. Just wanted some opinions. I've switched between AOKP, Neo-AOKP, and Rage (which I am currently on), and there seems to be little difference (or at least, nothing is making it significantly better). I always do full wipes before installs. All GPS features turned off, brightness around the 30% mark, no task killer, JuiceDefender running on default balanced settings. See screenshots below for additional information. From 100% to the time of these screenshots I've done about 15-20 texts, 2 phone calls that were both less than 60 seconds, 5 times or so on Facebook (just scrolling through feed mostly), and a total of 5-10 minutes on the internet. I guess what I'm wondering is: Is it possible that my battery has somehow degraded over the past month? And, should i be getting better battery life than this? I am on the stock/standard Rezound battery. Thanks!

thanks! i might have to give one of those two a try as there jsut doesn't seem to be a culprit for why my battery life has been so bad on aosp regardless of what kernel/gov setup i've tried using. maybe the apps/setup i have doesn't work well with rage and all it's tweaks.

I used to run juice defender. It doesn't seem to play well with AOSP, causes lots of wakeups. Try uninstalling/disabling and seeing if it helps, particularly overnight. I don't have any proof but my battery seems to be lasting longer without. (About 5.6 pct per hour during the day, 1-2 pct per hour overnight)
Personally, I use setcpu to make profiles for screen on and off. Screen On, I use Intellidemand tho Neo swears by Lazy. For Screen Off, I set max clock speed to 700 ish mhz and put governor on Wheatley. I can say one thing for sure, Wheatley makes the phone deep sleep very well, assuming you don't have a sync issue or frequently updating widget interfering.

There seems to be a discrepancy between your battery usage monitor and your GSam monitor. Your battery monitor is showing 7 hours plus while the GSam is showing 3 minutes plus since charged.
For the 69% on screen, how long was the screen actually on? Touch the screen percentage to see how long your screen was on. Right now, I am at 13 hours plus with 50% left. My screen is at 65% and has been on 1 hr 53 min. Indoors, I also keep my brightness at 20%.
It seems that some folks have also said they find juice defender to use more battery than it saves. Try uninstalling it and see what happens.
I am using Nils' Business ICS4.0.3, Sense 3.6 ROM and having great battery life with the standard battery.

umm.. i don't use jiuce defender. it's terrible and usually ends up causing worse battery drain than without
Snuzzo - it seems, for now, that your recommendation to go with a vanilla CM9 seems to be the trick. I'll have to monitor over the next few days to be sure, but with the same setup i was running on rage, where i would lose about 3-4%/hour with the phone just sitting and going to sleep, i've only lost 1% in the past 2 hours while on your most updated (10/16) build with your 1.5 kernel..
would i be able to run more recent versions of your kernel on you 10/16 build?
I haven't done 1.8 and 1.7 has the minimum frequency voltage fixed plus a couple extras. Don't try running 1.6 as it was very experimental.
