Just recieved my phone. Instructions are pretty clear about ensuring that the battery is fully charged before turning on the phone. I don't see any instructions that tell me how I should know when it is fully charged. The notification light on the phone started off as an amber color that slowly turned on & off. It then quickly changed to a solid amber color. Does this mean it is fully charged, or will the light turn green or turn off when it is fully charged?
Thanks.
Green when fully charged.

So yeah my x10 turns its screen on after it is done charging but still plugged in, and I can't find the setting to change that anywhere in the settings. I'm using 2.1, any help?
That's normal isn't it, to let you know the phones fully charged, then times out.
The problem is, it doesn't time out, not for 4 hours or so
Actually I have to agree...kind of. It's a SMARTphone... Not very smart to keep on the screen for that long as the screen drains the battery a lot... I can't confirm your statement though as I always charge at night and my screen is off when I wake up in the morning.

But the notification LED stays on after 100% is reached and so charging the battery at night is not an option anymore but the LED with drain the battery...

LED in contrary using very small amount of electricity
If the led drains my battery I will buy another phone, to my knowledge this led is using almost nothing from your battery. I always charge at night, and most of the time it is at 100% in the morning, sometimes 99%..

I am on CM9 stable rom, Siyah Kernel 1.5.
There is a customisation in CM9 that allows us to enable/disable Battery lights, where we can change the LED colour for Low Batt, Charging and Fully Charged. I noticed that whenever my phone is charged to 90%, the LED turns to green, which is my fully charged colour. Is there anyway to ensure that the LED only turns green when the battery is really fully charged at 100%?
And also, the status of my phone says "Charged" once 100% is reached, however we all know that when it reaches 100%, the phone will still continue charging for a while before it is really fully charged. Is this a bug?

Led turning green at 90% is AOSP behavior. You cant do anything about it.

There is no blinking LED update for this phone on stock ROM.
If it blinks alternating orange and green (or green and orange for that matter) your phone is overheated and should be allowed to cool before any more attempt at recharging. This might also indicate that your battery is shot.
It can overheat by running lots of data over wifi, or other cpu-intensive tasks on low battery such that the battery is constantly charging/discharging trying to keep up with the demand. The battery can cook itself into deterioration after too much usage/heat, and may be swollen in the middle. If it is swollen in the middle, you can probably stop right now and test the phone with a different battery. Even if not swollen, the battery could be too old to work properly any longer.
If not swollen, you can remove the battery and let the phone and battery sit for 30 minutes in a cool place to allow them to cool, then re-insert the battery and attach the charger cable, but do not turn the phone on. Observe if the flashing orange/green begins again, and if so, I'd recommend trying a different battery/charger, as something is shot--most probably the battery or charger. If it flashes solely orange, the battery is completely dead/discharged--see if it goes solid orange after 30 minutes. Do not turn the phone on while doing this, so you can make the determination without other factors interfering. If it goes solid orange within 30 minutes, continue on to see if it goes green after maybe 4 hours, and if so, I think it's a safe bet the battery and charger are working, and it would be safe to turn it on and observe what happens then. If it doesn't go solid green within 4 hours but is solid orange, with a good battery/charger it would probably have sufficient charge to power on.
If it's blinking solely green you have a notification and the screen is too dark to see when you press the power button.

Thanks a lot for the detailed answer.
so this orange LED is more on a battery issue and does not indicate a hard brick of HTC Amaze ?

You'll know much better if you try what I told you.
Hello there!
I have bought a black one from ebay, mine when i plug it in the voltage socket the led indicator goes red , orange , green, and then stays red. No matter how many hours i leave it plugged the led never goes green so i dont know if the battery is charged.
I mean the led indicator has the ability to turn green why would they not make it go green when the battery is charged?
I left the battery charging for 3 hours and it did not turn green but the batterry was fully charged .
My question is, is this normal or mine is faulty? Thanks so much for your time!
When my phone reaches 85-80% battery my screen starts to flicker and my phone turns off. When turning on i only have 1% battery left.
Battery is only 1 year old. Do i need to buy a new one?
Or can I fix it?

You can calibrate the battery like this before you decide to buy a new one
Fully charge the battery with the phone on and when the phone is fully charged, unplug the charger and turn it off.
When your phone is off, plug it into the charger and let it charge to 100% again. The green LED light will indicate when this is done.
Next unplug the charger, turn on your phone and set the option to ensure that your screen doesn’t turn off, if you have this option. Then reconnect to the charger and wait for it to charge again to 100%.
Once loaded to 100%, unplug the charger again and do not load until the smartphone turns itself off after reaching a 0% battery level. Once off, fully charge it again and it should work properly. The screen setting can put back to normal again (meaning turn off after a certain amount of time).
