Does this mean potential for custom roms?

Yup, another step closer to custom roms.

Is ClockworkMod available for the Walmart Optimus One?
If it is rooted, search for a thread by ciaox. It's called flashable recoveries. The latest cwm is 5 something something. Or you could find the recovery and flash with flashimageui or rom manager

Lol, I was reading this, and clicked on your link to the page about why it's not possible to flash it with any p500 firmware, and it made me giggle to see that it lead to my own post. ^.^

Screen Off Animation

Well as we all came to experience the amazing circular screen off animation introduced to us by LG, it is actually removed in the PORTED Stock Jelly Bean release, which is currently working smoothly on AT&T LGs (given the fixes), however, I really do miss this little feature. So I am asking if anyone knows how to locate and change the screen of animation preferably using es file explorer, if possible?
I have read a couple of articles saying that you can add the CRT screen off animation to an apk called framework-res.apk which is found in the /system/framework folder but I really don't want to tamper with that just yet till I find out if that is the for sure file to change on our phones.
If maybe we can find the screen off animation file in the stock ICS rom, we could possibly add it into the JB rom and fix permissions and bam! We would have the awesome LG screen animation! If only it could be so simple!
So if anyone knows anything about this, please let me know because I don't even know if I'm on the right track!
Thanks guys.
i for one, would like to swap out my LG off animation for the CRT one, didnt see any way to change it in the forum
..not to derail your thread or anything.

Drewman294,
You are indeed on the right track... it is in the framework.res.apk. Got a lot on my plate at the moment but as soon as I can I will give this a shot.
It would indeed be too risky to copy the apk from stock rom and try it on JB rom, it will take a decompile, edit and recompile.

Aosp or N4?

So, will our AOSP be based off the Nexus 4 conversion? Or will there actually be a AOSP ROM specifically to this device? I know patience is key, just didn't want to rely on a hack to get aosp. I bought a LGOG instead of a Nexus 4 for a reason. I tried the hack with no booting luck.
Will there be a NATIVE AOSP ROM? Or will it all be based off the nexus 4 conversion?
I really that having to do the conversion just for a aosp. I don't plan on finding a native aosp ROM tomorrow. But will it happen without the need to rely on a n4 conversion?
Thanks in advance. (;
From what I've read, it will happen without the need for a conversion.

I hope so. I really don't like relying on the conversion. Just not for me. Thank you for your information.
ASOP for the LGOG should be coming in the near future from what some of the devs have been hinting at. Like, the next couple of weeks near future. Also the ability to run N4 ROMs without converting. Good stuff is right around the corner.

I did the conversion within the first few days of having the device. It's been working wonderfully. As long as you're not a complete newbie to Android modding/hacking/what-ever-you-call-it, and have a reliable computer and electricity (so it doesn't disconnect/turn off while flashing) you should be fine. However, the long term effects of the conversion are not yet known, but I doubt they could be that bad (if they even exist at all). I'd go for it. :good:

Like I said, I'm pretty tempted especially now that they've gotten the 16GB working. Thing is, I'm still pretty new to this (even though I've probably flashed everything else in the development forum at this point) and I'm not in a place to afford a brand new phone off contract if something happens to go wrong and I end up bricking.
Especially if the ability to run N4 ROMs without converting is just around the corner, my gut instinct is telling me to just be patient...

When i tried it hung on the boot animation. I flashed twrp to maybe flash a ROM but it would always say ENTER PASSWORD upon entering recovery. EVERY TIME. I even flashed a different recovery and everything. I tried to fast boot -w but never wiped anything. And if I tried to factory data reset in recovery I couldn't because it would always say FAILED since I couldn't enter a weird password when I first booted into recovery. Any ideas?

For me, I didn't even bother with unlocking, etc, I just went directly from stock to the N4 conversion. It didn't boot at first but I got into fastboot from the bootloader and entered fastboot -w, rebooted, and it started up perfectly. It was really simple and painless, at least it was for me. :victory:

I followed the instructions to the T. After it got to the boot animation it hung for 30+ minutes. That's when i flashed recovery and tried to flash a ROM. Yet the recovery was asking for a weird password. Like my phone was encrypted or something.
So I just flashed back. Weird thing is. My stock at& boot loader menu is EXACTLY like the nexus 4. Says mako and everything. Just doesn't have the picture of the android guy laying down.

I don't know why, but I seem to be having trouble installing Ubuntu on the fascinate.
I flash the first zip (cm10.1 unofficial) and it reboots me into clockworkmod recovery with an ubuntu logo replacing the cwm logo
when I flash the second zip (saucy blahblahblah) it shows an error for the zip file. I tried downloading both files multiple times and the same error happens.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Maybe new KK recovery soon?

So with the KK update LG changed the way the G2 is locked down. Been messing around with some stuff and just was able to get around the standard recovery and was able to boot into the more normal Android recovery. I think from here I can build a custom recovery that may work...
Who knows if it will work and not sure when I will be done with it so don't ask for ETA...

Stock recoveries will be allowed through the 4.4.2 bootloader check. Custom recoveries are not allowed because they pass through the aboot and if they are not 100% stock you are dropped into fastboot. Sorry man, this idea won't work.

I am not an Android Dev but how much work would it be to just create a g2 framework package that would overlay on a source aosp rom? Lg ui isn't some mystical New rom is just an overlay. Very involved but I see other people exporting the Sony ui to other roms. It might be easier than trying to find an exploit that might not exist
