Venue 2nd recovery ?? - Dell Venue

just read somewhere here about the vibrator menu can change which menu go want.
i.e. vibrator button up and volume down button after pressing power button.
then comes around 7-9 options,
my question is what exactly this do. i cant understand the options.

I can't understand what you are asking. What does "vibrator menu" (I have no idea what this is) and volume buttons have to do with recovery? And what is "2nd recovery"?

Vibrator butonn = button on left side which can get your phone on vibration
Try switching that button upside and pressing volume down button aftr pressing power button try it and let me k know

That thing is called Recovery.
For a casual user, this is mainly for an emergency state in which you messed up things, can't boot into the OS and had to do a reset. In rarer occasions, this is for offline OS update.
For a slightly more advanced and savvy users, a custom, non-official recovery is flashed (ClockworkMod most of the times), which allows far better management of the system, including: backup, wipe, flashing custom ROMs. Since user development for Dell Venue sucks, no, this isn't available for us now.
In this state, there is not much use of it for us right now.

[Q] Starting RSD protocol support issues

Ive been messing around with this for a few days now with no luck.
My was acting sluggish a few days back so i restarted it. Well low and behold Im getting the "Starting RSD protocol support" message on top of the dual core logo now.
I've searched around, and have have tried all i can think of. I have SBFed the phone multiple times, using the tutorial here, with no luck.
After SBFing the phone it just returns to the same state.
The battery IS fully charged, so we can rule that out. Maybe, just maybe, the volume toggle is stuck but it clicks up and down with no issues.
Anyone have any ideas? Ive been pulling my hair out on this one. Phone is on Verizon prepaid so its grandfathered in at 95/month UNLIMITED data , and they dont seem to willing to let me switch back to my Droid X or anything else for that matter.
Thanks in advance for anyone with ANY ideas or suggestions.
edit as a side note i have been rooted for 6 months no issue/and am on Eclipse. I had not changed any settings in a few months and had not installed any apps in a few week. This was pretty out of the blue.
My first thought (before I read you had this thought also) was that your volume up button might be stuck. Or the trigger inside anyway. If thats the case, you will probably have to find a way to get that button off but I have no idea if thats possible without breaking your phone. Other than that, I dont know what else could cause it. Especially if you SBF and it still does it.
Try this to see if you have a faulty volume button. Turn the phone off and turn it back on while holding the volume DOWN button. I forget what the first option is but it will say something at the top. first of all, if your volume button is stuck in the up position, it might start whatever the first option is. If not, press the volume down button until you get to Android Recovery. Then press up. If you do this, I'm guessing your volume up button is working as it should. Pressing up will start the recovery. When you see the triangle image, press volume up and volume down at the same time. try wiping cache and data and restart and see if that does anything.

Yeah, I should have included that, it wont go into recovery by pressing the down button while turning on. Guess it might be the actual switch. Anyone have any ideas on that?
edit And suprise if you hold the up button while turning on you get the RSD support msg! (if its working properly) Its gotta be something hardware at this point. i hope not...
Yeah, if you hold Up while powering on, it will start RSD automatically. If you hold down, it gives you other options to scroll through. It could very well be hardware related if that isnt working. Unless someone else has anything else to say about it.

[Q] i777 Power button broken - Stuck in Recovery

Pretty sure I overheated the phone last night, and now the power button doesn't work. I fell asleep with it in my pocket, I got a call from my wife early in the AM, after the call I found the screen wouldn't turn off. So today, I've tried an app or two to replace the power button, tried a 3 hour battery pull, and in a brief instance of idiocy, decided to reboot into recovery to try and wipe everything and see if that would do anything - now I am stuck in CWM Recovery w/out any working power button so I cannot even exit. I've tried pulling the battery again and it just reboots into recovery.
Any tips on how to get it out? I want to pull my pictures and info, wipe the phone then sell it on ebay - What would I need to do?
if it is a custom recovery you can use ADB while booted into recovery.
adb pull /sdcard
Has anyone had a problem with just the power button not working at all anymore?
My SII had the problem recently that the power button just does not work, so I can no longer wake the phone up after the screen has shut off. I'm guessing it is a hardware problem because I even restored it all the way back to stock.
Does anyone know how hard it is to replace the button if it is bad?
I had my power button fail for several days on me (it has since started workign fine again tho). I was in a similar place but when pulling battery, my phone would reboot normally so i could at least use my phone while on the charger. I know that pulling battery, holding volume up/down and reinserting will boot you into recovery so i'm wondering if your volume button is messed up too? can you navigate up and down in recovery with the volume keys?
I had to get my button working to position myself to avoid the issue but I'm now pretty much power button free and running siyah kernel (touch recovery) and i use the Stweaks swipe to unlock feature, rootbox rom with a power menu toggle, and a lock screen widget so i don't have to use my power button at all. Again, i had to get my power button working to flash the kernel though maybe you can push the kernel with odin then you'll have the touch recovery to try wipes and resets with?
edit: here is a link of tearing down a 9100. I think our power button is the same- unfortunately it looks like you have to solder the new one in.
I couldn't find the part# for the i777 (or confirm if it's the same as the 9100) but the power button for the 9100 is KEY FPCB-POWER KEY(GT_9100) GH59-10916A and is about $5 online
here's a vid of the breakdown, he's replacing the screen but browses over the power/volume keys too.

Atrix stuck at Boot Logo - no fastboot, no status light

So I've had my atrix unlocked for some time and have had Epinter's android 4.2.1 running on it smoothly. One day I tried to turn it on and it would only go to the boot logo screen (Motorola for stock) and i cant enter fastboot by using the volume keys. Further, the status light never lights up. This may have happened about a week after installing winterboard (port from iOS) probably a dumb choice, but.
can anyone advise if this is bricked, or a way i can get into fastboot and wipe the thing? any advice is appreciated
no input?! I just read somewhere i may be get it into AP fastboot by holding down both volume keys and power button. would love to get this phone working again!

So if you read something, why haven't you taken the initiative to try it out?
I have. And no luck. just says unlocked and will not toggle through options (fastboot etc). I included it in the post so it wasnt a lame 'bump' post. but thanks for your lame bump post.

Just so we are sure, you were holding down the 'Vol down' key while simultaneously pressing the 'Power' button and the text 'Fastboot' didn't show up, is that right?
Also, did the phone have CWM installed?
Yes. clockwork is installed. Yes I held volume down and power.
If you notice when you cold boot your phone a status light appears before the splash screen, and then turns off. Mine.. Doesnt ever turn on.

^ Unfortunately, that does not sound good at all. Did you have the 'fastboot' options (and the other menu items) enabled before? Would you happen to know exactly what made it go away? Because without that support, there's very little you can do.
You could try charging the battery separately, but I'm not so sure. We might need to know what was done/flashed to get into this state.
Press power + volume up, does it do something?
yes I previously had the option to go into fastboot and the other options (bypass motoblur etc) neither volume up nor volume down get me to the other options - it only stays at saying 'unlocked'.
Maybe the volume keys are broken?
I did install Winterboard by Saurik and that may have caused this problem.
I have used a different battery/charged the battery separately and still nothing.

[Q] Volume down button broken - boots into HBOOT

The volume down button isn't doing anything on my son's Nexus 9. This wouldn't be a big problem in itself, but when rebooting he is put into the HBOOT recovery. I can move through those menu options (fastboot/factory reset/etc) with the volume up button, but can't select any of the options. Maybe the power button has broken too, I don't know.
I see that the volume buttons on Nexus 9 are causing problems for people, but can't find anyone with this kind of trouble.
Does anyone have any advice on what to do next? Is there a way for him to reboot properly, without going into recovery? How can we get it to boot from recovery without those buttons doing anything? Should we just send it back?
Thanks for any help.
-tim
It sounds like the vol down button isn't broken, but stuck in the held down position. When you boot android devices with the vol button held down, it tells the device to go into recovery/fastboot, which is exactly what you are seeing. There is no way around that. You have to open up your N9 and unstick the button (or, as you mentioned, return it for repair/replacement)

That's what I was thinking. Thanks for the confirmation.

[HOWTO] Force a reboot in TWRP

So the dog tried to eat the phone, thus the bottom part of the screen is dead so there are no software buttons to use.
Now where the problem comes in.
You go into TWRP to see if you can make a more resent backup but you can't see enough due to the strips on the screen and since the software buttons are gone you're stuck and it will lock itself and you can't even swipe to unlock. Since newer phones don't allow the battery to be pulled you're stuck until you run it down which will take days.
TWRP and any other recoveries should reboot when the power button is held down IMHO but obviously they don't. Few things are more annoying than something electrical that you can't turn off.
I found that if you hold down the volume up and volume down buttons then press and hold the power button it will force a reboot.
Forced power off is holding power down and power button: https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-215164/
This is also provided as a popup instruction when you first boot the phone after setup. So, there is a way to force it off, just not with a single button as you might prefer.
You may have found another option with the reboot process.
I can confirm this procedure worked on my Redmi Note 4 (MTK) stuck in TWRP after I executed "/sbin/recovery" from adb shell, which killed the touchscreen and USB connectivity (??). The standard way (volume down + power) did not work, but this volume up + down + power worked, strangely enough.
