How can I change the CPU frequencies in a kernel? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is the specific type of file I have to change?

Are you talking about changing the frequencies (overclocking and undervolting) or the frequencies (and levels) built into the kernel?

The ones built into the kernel.

It depends on your processor. See here: http://code.google.com/p/milestone-overclock/wiki/SmashingTheAndroidKernel (for OMAP).

New oc kernel?

I was wondering if anyone out there is thinking about developing an overclocking kernel that would allow the vibrant to overclock to 2ghz. I have seen a new kernel for the mytouch 4g that allows them to overclock to 2.03 ghz. Which to me is pretty impressive.

2.2 Kernel w/ Smartass?

I think I'm aware of all the Froyo kernels available but just in case I'm not, are there any kernels with Smartass? I think DragonModz does but is that it?

[Q] Overclocking the SGS 3!

Which tutorial do y'all prefer when it comes to overclocking? Has anyone tried SetCPU?

Setcpu is all I use and seems to work fine.

What scaling do you use? Change anything else?

I use smartassv2 on ktoonsez's kernel. I've underclocked to 1026MHz, and have a profile for screen off and battery <30%.

SmartassV2 has a built in screen off profile with quick wake, so a setcpu profile for the same is redundant and could cause issues...

Right now DSB is trying to get rid of sod, so he got rid of some of the tweaks and I don't think it has gpu oc in it right now.
Then it looks like beastmode also had it.

Overclocking Troubles

So my problem is that no matter which ROM/Kernel I flash on my Vibrant, I can't seem to OC above 1200 without an RR. Anyone have a solution to my dilemma?
I'm currently running Hellybean and Cyancore 2.6

Do I bump the arm voltages, the int voltages or both?
