Has anyone else experienced the power button not working? It works to put phone to sleep but when actually trying to power off phone kept getting a activity launcher FC which would cause the phone to reboot?

my first question to you is:
what mods did you install on the rom?
Not a thing...just recently flashed codeworkzx kernel...then rooted via paulyhoffman zip...unnamed was actually my first rom..I'm no noob as far as flashing via cwm or Odin...that's why I was so confused. I tried flashing it with and without wipe...still had the same issue
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
Just to make sure I'm not crazy and lost my knowledge of flashing i ended up restoring back to rooted stock then flashed cog777 R3...its been running like a champ...no issues

Ok cool. Sorry Sheathunderboilt wasn't trying to be a jerk. I was just starting to wonder if the confusing wording of the questions was intentional.
Anyway, I think your going to have to provide a little more info before anyone can be of much help.

Have you tried turning the phone off then holding volume down + power untill the bootloader screen appears and then manually selecting recovery? ROM Manager tends to have issues.

Yeah I did do that!& when i do the HTC pops up and goes right back to boot loader

reinstall rom manager and flash one ot the older cwm like the 4.0.1.5 not the 5.x.x.x
Try reflashing Clockwork recovery by following the instructions in this thread. It sounds like your recovery got screwed up or wiped out somehow. Use version 5.0.2.1. I think the version 5 issues are fixed in that one. If you still have issues try using one of the version 4.x ones.
Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt
Thanks guys I did it and got my phone and just FYI version five don't work on my tb so I will stay away from ROM manager!!!!! I still couldn't do a back up in recovery cuz it says error on restoring boot image ,once!again o beloved my SD card corrupt

My buddy screwed up in flashing his Rezound. Flashed something in recovery rather than bootlader. He is going to bring me his phone to try to fix so I was wondering what is the hard key press combination to get the phone to boot straight into recovery?

To get into the bootloader (which will then allow you to select recovery) do a battery pull, put it back in, then hold down the down volume button while pressing the power button until it boots up.
Oh, and Wreck 'Em!
You can't flash a bootloader file in recovery?
Maybe you should ask your friend to be more clear

From I gathered he flashed the volume wake mod into a ICS rom. Don't know if they are not compatible or what but he is a noob so I will try to help him out. We made sure he did a nand backup so if recovery is still there we should be in good shape.

Class of '05. txkorm is in this forum also and is also an Alum.
EDIT: Also, flashing a wake on volume should work in recovery for ICS. Not sure what happened with his.
There's no reason the recovery should be gone, just give him the steps to do a restore and he should be fine.
Got to fix his problem. He had a phgm type file on the root of his SD card that was keeping him from booting into recovery. Haha. He was freaked out.
Btw class of '93 here.

Hi everyone,
I have been using the F1 Galaxy nexus rom on my Galaxy s2 and have had a problem with it freezing on me a couple of times.
Today I finished making a Skype call and the phone froze as I tried to pull down the notification bar. It just sort of hung halfway down. After that it pretty much froze up apart from the fact that I was able to power off using the power button.
I am wondering if I have the right Clockworkmod recovery on my phone. I installed recently CF-Root XX_XEO-LPQ v5.4 as previously I tried out the official samsung Ics ROM XX_LPQ.
After this I flashed the nexus f1 rom using the same version of clockworkmod.
Can anyone advise me if this is the correct one to use to flash the nexus f1 rom or is there another version that is more compatible with this rom. I have read that you need the correct kernel to match your phone's firmware and that certain kernels don't work with certain roms.
Please excuse my general ignorance. I have tried searching for an answer on the forum but couldn't find what I was looking for
I did do a full wipe and factory reset before flashing the rom.

Have now siyah kernel installed. Did a full wipe with ultimate kernel cleaner before flashing new kernel. Still getting the occasional freeze although 90 percent of the time it runs just fine.
Shame because I really like this from and want to stick with it.
Was wondering if anyone else has experienced these freeze ups?

Having weird problems that others don't, do what other have done and you don't......
Full wipe, don't restore using titanium, keep it as is for a while that is no kernel changing and see how it works.
So I've recently been looking into testing tablet mode with my lapdock as webtop has been meh. I can't install anything besides GB roms for some reason. I've performed full wipes with th3Bill's wipe, with paranoid android aroma installer, with fastboot, with cwm. Paranoid android and epinters 10 both just hang on the boot animation, I've tried literally dozens of times with each of them and nothing will work. Does anyone know what's happening here?
Strange. Maybe try re-downloading the roms....
LāvLab / HostileSlothRecords
How long did you wait at the boot animation? I've had up to 10 min wait for the first boot but usually it's only a few min longer than all reboots after.

That sounds familiar. I had the same thing happen to me while trying to flash the ICS leak way back when. Even though I did everything I was supposed to do, I still came up with the same problem and never found out what caused the problem

Its all good, we've all been forum noobs before.
Anyways, i'm assuming proper partitions were wiped prior to flashing the rom?

And a factory reset???????
I know its a drag, but you have to do it.
when i go to a new rom i do
1.factory reset
2.format /system
3.flash rom
4.flash gapps
One thing I didn't mention before is that I was actually able to install ICS based roms this summer, and now nothing. I used jokersax's cm9 and the leak installed for me too. I honestly can't think of any reason why this isn't working. I've tried with CWM and TWRP, Like I said, I've wiped my stuff every way I could think of. I'm stumped.
ok, how about format /cache and /osh and dalvik cache as well?
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
So I finally got something working with a JB rom. I literally formatted everything I could and then install MIUI.US through rom manager and CWM. It installed but the launcher crashed every time it booted, ran th3Bill's options chooser and installed holo launcher, now I have a working JB!! Still working on paranoid but not feeling much hope for it. I'm currently just really happy to know I can install even just one JB rom.
I'm thinking of installing flapjaxxx kernel on my i717 running black star x, will this dump my current settings and contacts?
And what are the steps to do this (running cwm)?
It shouldn't. All I did was boot into recovery, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, then install from sd card.

Ended horribly lol. Phone wouldn't go past load screen. Had to reinstall the Rom. Oh well, after the wipe the whole thing seems more stable.

Glad you got it running. No telling what the issue was before
I bricked my phone, I want to know why
Hi.
First of all I apologize for my not so good English.
The thing is that I hard bricked my note i717 by flashing a wrong kernel and now I know that JTAG is my only option, but I want to know if they are going to be able to bring my phone back to life, I don't live in the US that is the reason why I want to be 100% sure before I send it.
I was experiencing some problems with the USB not being recognized by any computer, after searching and reading a lot of post it came dawn to an incompatible kernel (something to do with the fast-charge option) so I´ve tried to flash a fast-charge compatible kernel but I downloaded it wrong and BAM!!! my phone is just a brick now (kinda useful to hold the door)
Full info:
I had the stock AT&T rom, then flashed some other roms without problems until this one:
cm-10.1-20130304-experimental-quincyatt-m2, that's where the USB problems began... after that one I had pa_quincatt-2.57-20120122-201611 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1686320)
My question is:
Is it possible to connect the device(you know the JTAG method http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0SX3iDuIZc ) now that it is hardbricked even if it wasn't recognized before bricking?
I appreciate the responses in advance.:laugh:
