Has anyone else experienced the power button not working? It works to put phone to sleep but when actually trying to power off phone kept getting a activity launcher FC which would cause the phone to reboot?

my first question to you is:
what mods did you install on the rom?
Not a thing...just recently flashed codeworkzx kernel...then rooted via paulyhoffman zip...unnamed was actually my first rom..I'm no noob as far as flashing via cwm or Odin...that's why I was so confused. I tried flashing it with and without wipe...still had the same issue

Just to make sure I'm not crazy and lost my knowledge of flashing i ended up restoring back to rooted stock then flashed cog777 R3...its been running like a champ...no issues

Hi guys,
I got the ICS update from Samsung a month back in India. I am not too happy with it. It is not as smooth and it takes up a lout of ram. Of late I have been getting very little battery backup. It gives me only 3/4 of a day with light use. What could be the reason? Are there apps that I need to delete or remove our make some changes? Please help.

So I guess you are using a stock ROM. Can you tell me which version?
One of the problems (or not) is that when you update via Kies all the user data/apps remain the same. That's why I would prefer doing a wipe before upgrading so that my device will not be clogged with lots of processes.
How much screen time do you get? If you can, post a screenshot of the battery consumption.
What's your modem/baseband?
Yes you are right. I am on stock rom. Haven't had the guys to root and instal custom rom on such an expensive phone. As you say I didn't do a wipe out before I upgraded on Kies. I am on 4.0.3 and base band I9100DDLPA.

I am having the same concern now, not like the stockics very much, it is slower( scroll list in system settings..), hot after a while. Maybe we can consider to choose cm9 or other custom roms.

Guys two days ago I got s2 with Samsung exyonus cpu . That's great!
But I had random black screen to get arid of it I had to reboot.
Happened once with original ROM I think after a call...and now happened just out of nowhere with custom 4.1.1 ROM from xda...
Ideas?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
I think for now most, if not all 4.1.1 rom available for S2 are not stable yet. So either go back to earlier version or get use to it.
I did found on google some ppl had it on stock as I had too... any ideas?

I bought my s2, unlocked version, 1 month ago and a week later, it started shutting off when the screen was turned off or when I put it in my bag and moved around. I searched around and found it's called sleep of death. But none of the solutions worked. My phone is on ICS 4.0.4 and it is rooted. So far, I have tried 1. the clock app trick
2. disabling sumsung apps
3. load monitor app installed with wake lock on
It still goes into deep sleep only revivable by long press on power button. What is worse is that the battery drain, which was only one to two percent becomes a massive drop from 80 to 20 percent. It only happens when the phone is left unused for a while. No intereference with phone calls and messages yet. Service and such are also unreliable in myanmar. Anyone here has any suggestions? I'm at my wits end. Will a manual update to Jellybean solve this problem?

Did a hard reset. Still doing OK.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
You did a hard reset on 4.0.4?......
That, fella, is a bit like playing with a rattlesnake......see emmc brickbug...
Just be careful.....

Thanks for the warning. Still going well though. I was just so fed up with random shutoffs.

I don't know if you want to stay "stock rooted", but my advice is to get as far away from 4.0.4 as possible.....
You have a number of options....
If you want to stay as close to stock as possible, get Moblie Odin pro from playstore and flash a firmware...either 4.0.3, or something newer than 4.0.4....
Or.....
Go the custom route....
Download cm9, cm10 or cm10.1 and a compatible kernel....Siyah, Dorimanx or Philz....all available on XDA, and use CWM (if it came with your root) to flash the kernel (first), do your required wipes (second) and flash your chosen cusROM and associated GApps (third). Just get away from 4.0.4.....fast. And for your phones wellbeing, just DON'T wipe data while you're on the 4.0.4 kernel....the brickbug may not have happened this time....but that's not a guarantee it won't happen next time......

Didn't realised I've taken such a huge risk. Thanks again for the details. Will try stock jb.

It must have been fun tho

That's what I'm currently running....if you do get mobile odin pro (paid version) it will inject your root privileges into the stock firmware and perform a safe wipe as well.....

Not to sound too ignorant (but I am an absolute novice), what happen to the old root? Will the phone become unrooted on upgrade? I don't mind rooting again. Just not too sure about it.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
You will lose root when flashing a new stock ROM.
The only way to "keep" root is by flashing a pre-rooted ROM or by flashing via Mobile Odin Pro.
Sent from the little guy
Yeah....if/when you use M.O.P to flash the firmware, make sure that the "everroot" option is ticked and root will be kept.....
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Xparent Green Tapatalk 2
Thanks. I thought rooting might somehow interfere with the upgrade. Silly me.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Well, as I said, it'll "keep" root.
Both pre rooted ROM and M.O will root the new ROM while flashing it.
So yes, your guess was right, you'll always lose root when flashing a new ROM, these ways we mentioned gets you rooted again.

Flashed stock JB yesterday. So far no sod. And the battery is running fine. Hopefully this will be the end of my problems.

How did you get on with Stock JB and SOD? I'm using RootBox, and it seems that no matter what i try i still get an occasional SOD.
I am still doing fine with stock JB. Wish I could give you a better answer but I'm not very good with technologies myself. Hope you find a solution soon.

Hi guys,
Having some problems using Bluetooth on my sgs3. When I flick the switch it immediately switches back off again.
Here's the logcat from the point that I try to enable BT to the point where it stops complaining:

Can anyone help me out with this? I have searched around for about 30 mins.

Sorry, first post was a little sparse.
I am using Xylon v4.2-2.7.3.
Android version 4.2.2, kernel 3.0.6.4-CM.

Take a nandroid backup then wipe data via recovery. Test bluetooth. This either rules out or identifies the cause being the rom. If it works (and its not the rom / kernel) then its your data.
This is definitely the best first course of action imo. Cuts the field down the middle and narrows it by half

Thanks for taking the time to respond.
I wiped the data area and no dice, so I'm flashing the latest PA to check if it's a problem with the ROM.
EDIT --
Flashed PA and Bluetooth now works with no problems. Then just for posterity I went back and flashed a clean copy of Xylon and it had the problem right from the start.
It's a shame, I really liked Xylon. But looks like I'll be using PA from now on.
Thanks for the help everyone.
At least you've identified it. Paranoid android is good though. My current favourite
