I think you're looking in the wrong place. If you go through the google checkout link after you add the item to your cart (and are signing up for a new account), it takes $10 off. I bought only this item and it ended up being $11.95, since I selected free shipping.
It says this when you click the thing to sign up for google checkout:

OK NEW UPDATE: with tbird.hokie and crpaulino's generous donations and the rest of us all pooling together, we're at $330!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's insane, honestly, that's literally almost enough to buy someone a tablet at this point.
Is there a way for the developer to know for sure that they will get the money? If they spend $400 and buy the tablet and the people "forget" about the money, they would actually lose money.

Which is why, honestly, it would be better for somebody to send me there device for a couple of days to mess with. Blind developing root is possible its just going to be harder.

Well, if trust is the issue, why would someone mail their tablet to a stranger? I think what we're all hoping is that someone has their hands on a tablet and has dev skills and could mess around with it. You're right - blind rooting is close to impossible; we just want to say that we'll contribute $15, 20, 50, or 100 each once someone can successfully provide us with root. I'd part with my device if it was someone local, but I take it with me everywhere now and whether or not it gets rooted I'll use it just as much, I'd just like root for a lot of fun things I'd like to do with it. That being said, if anyone wants to send bubby323 their tablet, he stands to make over $300 if he gets root and s-off on the tablet S!!!
Can someone access using ADB "/cache/ota" and/or "/cache/download" and/or "/cache/recovery"? If you can, please make a dump of these folders (the ones that exist). Also see if you can write to these folders. If you can read these folders, there a chance I know how to root it. If you can write to these folders, there's an even greater chance.
Also, if there's anyone who knows how to use adb, add me on google talk or something. I need someone with access to a Tablet S for some of the stuff I'm doing with the Play that I want to test.

was close to $38 bucks. (it's not a super special deal at all)
So what's the point since we can buy the same thing, same brand
at AMAZON.COM for the same price of $38.15 including shipping
and no tax.

I work for a ROM Team, LiquidSMOOTH, and one of our developers (hiemanshu) is looking to get a Touchpad to help bring it another AWESOME ROM! But he is a little short on cash. I found this listing for a TouchPad in India http://bangalore.craigslist.co.in/sys/3410712948.html, which is approx $200 USD. I don't think that is too hard to save up, so why don't we try and get this for him!
Any donation counts, nothing is too small!
So, if you're wanting to donate to this cause, post below with what you pledge. Be prepared to pay what you say you will. Once we reach $250 USD (to have some wiggle room in the price if it changes, I would like to reach around $400, as that is the normal market price in India for a Touchpad), I will post his PayPal link so you all can send him what you pledged! The "$20" shipping takes a month to reach and a has lot of chances of package getting lost. FedEx/DHL/UPS take 3 days on the other hand. Trying to get one local if I can.

Doesn't matter to me. I'll donate mine, as long as shipping is covered. You guys are welcome to pick whichever shipping service you like. The only things I insist on are insurance and signature confirmation to confirm the delivery. This way it doesn't just get left on the doorstep or something like that.

Secondly trying to find someone with a FedEx account or something so we can get it shipped for real cheap about the same price as USPS but 3 days shipping instead of the 3-4 weeks USPS takes to get here. (Its not usps, it the local post offices being bad at handling stuff)
