very slow copying files to SD or EXT-SD - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Is there a big difference with copying files with to this from the PC? My Nook Color with CYG7.1 is as fast as any phone, but with this, copying about 200megs took nearly 45 mins (where the other took 45 seconnds). I have the correct drivers, it's rooted, etc. Any ideas, or this just the way it is?>

Fastest ive got it around 4-5mb/s on internal and my sdcard.

Activesync and downloading

I've used DVD-to-Pocket PC to shrink some of MY dvd's into .wmv files and they are ready to load onto my Expansys 512 card - the only problem is that when I copy and paste onto the memory card using Activesync, it stops copying after about 3 - 4 mins and starts again, although it never actually finishes. I know the obvious answer is to use a card reader but I've several already and really don't need another. Is there any way of using AS and the cradle to copy something like 250mb - 300mb??
try use a memory card reader to copy over
to see work or not
I have successfully copied 374MB (WIKI Encyclopaedia in TR format) via AS to the SD card. It takes a while, and even though the blue bar seems to restart it is still actually transfering data. Check the memory usage and watch it changing to confirm data is being transferred.
Regards
Success
I followed Flintanis's advice and bingo - straight on. I opened the storage card on Active sync and watched the memory counter go up, it took about 20 min but I'm not bothered about that, just so long as the whole process works. Cheers.

[Q] usbStorage weirdness

So as I've read, usbStorage isn't really a folder. The weird thing is, I copied some files to the usbStorage folder 'successfully' at work. Well, it didn't give me any errors while copying the files anyway.
Before copying I checked if I had enough storage space because I had to copy a couple hundred MB's worth of wav files. When I got home there was nothing there which, as I know now, was to be expected.
The problem is I DID lose the storage space... How am I ever getting that free space back!? Can't very well delete non-existent files.. Confused :S
Some extra info: Running WanamLite 10, custom rom, rooted ICS.
Thanks for reading,
Rajiv
What are you expecting to happen? The usbStorage folder is for USB OTG (i.e. something plugged into the micro USB port, like a memory stick or hard drive), nothing else.
Uhm, yeah. I've read that.. After encountering this problem, obviously.
So what was I expecting? Regular folder behavior of course..
What I would have expected to happen, knowing what I do now, is an error message along the lines of not being able to write to that particular folder.
Neither happened though and now I'm missing a couple hundred MB of storage space... Any ideas on that?
Not having had this problem before, I would copy all folders on to a PC, format the SD card then copy the folders back in.
Might want to copy the folders over one by one.
Edit: have you checked to see how large you 'lost.dir' folder is? Long pressing on any folder then selecting details will show you the size of that folder.
I regularly delete the entire folder. I deleted it for a friend last week. His was 2.4gb worth.

[Q] Transfering Files to ExtSdCard

I need some help.
I had a 16 gig sd card in my phone with several nandroid backups on it. I copied the contents to my computer so I could then transfer the files to a new 32gig card. I connected the phone via usb and every time I tried to copy the files it would give me an error that the files could not be copied. It would start the transfer and then stop and give me the error.
I understand that I could use a card reader but I don't have one and I haven't needed one before. I usually just use the usb cable for transfers and I have never had an issue until now. It almost seems that it won't let it transfer large files and just times out.
Any help would be appreciated. I need to get the files transferred to the new card. Oh, I also tried to copy to the internal first so I could then transfer on the phone but I got the same error.
Thanks!

Airdroid or MyFiles
Try using the program airdroid. It is an awsome program. path to your sd card should be /mnt/extSdCard
if not push the files to your internal storage then use the My files app to move them to your sd card.

Are you copying the whole folder or contents of the whole folder and trying to do the copy all in one shot? If so, try breaking up the copying process into half or even 4 parts and see if that works. I have done exactly what you're trying to do with no problem.
I tried both ways and I think it has something to do with the file size. Small files transfer fine but larger ones time out. I actually used the Kies Air program that comes with the phone. Interesting program/concept. I ended up transferring the files separately to the internal and then moved to the extsdcard. It sucks we can't just transfer there like a normal disk drive.
Thanks for the responses!

Tried AirDroid and it doesn't recognize the extsdcard. Just the internal. Thanks though.
I read about someone using adb to do this. If someone wants to doublecheck this first try adb pull /mnt/extsdcard PLEASE double check before you do this, I just started experimenting with adb and I'm not by my computer to try it first.

[Q] Memory problem

Hi, I was copying some files from my computer to the phone via usb. In the process I accidentally deleted the sdcard and mnt folders, I do not know if what happened is related, but my entire phone memory was wiped out. Thankfully I have a backup of everything.
The issue is that I tried to just copy back, but I noticed that the available storage was like 9 gb less than before, that is the size of all my data approximately. So well I decided to do a hard reset, but the missing space is still missing.
I got almost 9 gb used in the Other category. I do not remember how much space was available for a new phone, so if anyone could bring up that number it would be very helpful.
I have read other users missing also around 9 gb of memory but I am sure I had 54 gb free using 6 of music and around 2 of photos. If I copy back everything I only have 45 free.
Is there anyway of seeing if somehow the old erased or missing files are around using space?
The phone is a european freen version.
Thanks.

Sdcard problem

I use a 64 GB sdcard on Slimkat rom for HTC one max. That is, I try to use it, but with no success. But the problems I describe below are true for my previous sdcards as well.
I formatted the sdcard on the phone, on my previous phone Galaxy s3 and on the PC win 8. Whatever I did, every time I lose my files and I have to reformat again.
The problem is, whenever I copy several files onto the sdcard, they always get corrupted. I copy let's say ten movie files with different sizes (700mb-3gb), but at one point some of them are suddenly being listed as zero sized files and lots of new files with non-ASCII characters in the filenames appear. Sometimes they appear directly in the Lost-and-found folder.
Sometimes I just get a "sdcard is corrupted" notification, so I can't access the sdcard at all.
Then after waiting for a few days, without doing anything, the card gets recognized again and everything works perfectly again, without the need for reformatting the sdcard.
On previous phone Galaxy s3 and previous sdcard I got lots of "preparing sdcard" notifications right after waking/unlocking the phone.
This is my 5th or maybe 6th sdcard. Sometime the sdcard lasts for a few weeks before going corrupt, sometimes it starts within a few days after formatting.
In short, I try to use the sdcard as a secondary drive but with no success.
I'm on Slimkat Rom btw.
In the past I used 16 gb, 32 gb and now 64 gb sdcards, from different vendors (Samsung class 10 currently).
One thing, I use different adaptors for charging, sometimes 500 mA sometimes 2000 mA. Could that lead to a corrupted sdcard?
Is there anything I could do to find the cause of this?
What would you do?
Any help is appreciated!!
