PRL Changer? - Motorola Photon 4G

I know one way to do it is though the diag/qrt mode, but is there a way to do it from the phone without a computer? I was on the EVO forums and they have come up with a way by using ##775#, but a apk is required, i could not download it cuz their link was old, just trying to see if anyone knows?

I was wondering the same thing too. I would like to change my PRL as well. I think the first step is that you need your MSL number from Sprint.
EDIT: I tried the ##775# (##PRL#) method but it doesn't work.
EDIT2: I was able to flash my PRL successfully to an older PRL by following the steps in these 3 threads.
1) You need to get your MSL code from Sprint or follow these steps in this thread to get your MSL code.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19744060#post19744060
2) Go to this thread first to read an introduction on what to do and to download the QPST program that is needed to flash your PRL file.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1211157
3) Step by step with pics for Evo 3D on how to flash your PRL with QPST program but the steps are applicable to Photon as well starting from steps 8 and onward.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145111
4) I posted the VZ 3G roaming PRL 11115 for easy access.
Just post if you run into problems. I got it working on the first try. Now to do some speed tests to see if it makes a difference.

bump just for those interested in this.

thanks for your help, but i knew of that method, but i wanted to know if it was possible without a computer? As this would negate the benefits I get if i am already in good Sprint coverage, i usually go the mountains and there i am roaming but only get 1xrtt, For for EVO, you are able to change it on the fly.
Basically if i employ this method I can flash the Verizon PRL before i leave my house, and just do prl update to go back to stock (srpint), but I would not be able to revert back to a verizon one without a computer.

Bell 6800 Roaming / No Data issues !Please Help!

Hello,
What I have done:
1. Unlocked with Olipro 2.40
2. Upgraded Radio to 3.35.4
3. Have flashed with several roms DCD3.0.1 Bell, DCD3.1.1, PPC Kitchen.
My problem:
At some point I must have carelessly flashed my phone with a sprint firmware. I am now stuck in Roaming and have no Data connection.
More Info & what I have tried:
1. I have read ogrins81 post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363693&highlight=FOR+BELL
This appears to be my issue, but I am not exactly sure what he did to fix it, what is the PRL file for and how can it be used? I tried DCD3.0.1 Bell hoping that would fix it but it does not.
2. ##778# - Works but it as me for a unlock code I do not have.
3. ##111111# - Does nothing now, this is what I used before.
4. I have run the Bell.cab from DCD3.1.1, didn't help
5. If i goto ##778# then view, MSID is correct but my ESN looks wrong, its should be my phone number as well shouldn't it?
Any help you can give me, I would be very thankful for, I have been on these and other forums for hours looking for a fix. And so far nothing I have found seems to work.
I'm not sure how Bell works with their MSL, but you need to do one of two things.
1. Your MSL (unlock code) is 000000.
2. If it isn't 000000, you need to use GetSPC and plug in your ESN in HEX (case sensitive) to generate your MSL.
After that, you need to get the latest PRL, put it on your phone, then use EPST (in edit mode) to manually select it.
Thank you very much that seems to have brought me one step closer. However it is still not working properly.
What I have done:
1. Used GetSPC to successfully recover the code and enter EPST
2. I went to View Info>PRL> Update PRL file, and selected 0TM31398.030 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=363693&highlight=FOR+BELL&page=3
3.Rebooted as it instructed to do so.
New/Continuing Issues:
1. My phone is no longer in roaming however it says I am with SprintPCS Now
2. Still have no data.
3. In EPST the NAM Name = SPCS, should this have not been changed with the PRL file?
That does not look like a PRL to me. I could be wrong because I dont know much about Bell...but PRL's are usually 5 digit names...all numbers...for example the Verizon PRL is 51020.prl. I bet if you get the proper prl and update using the same method as you used..youll be ok
The question then is where am I going to get a Bell PRL file, that link was the only one I could find. I also tried the "0000EPST.004" located inside "dcd Titan Carrier - Bell.cab" with no luck. Now I am trying to manually change PRL settings but it wont even let me change MNC to a 3digit number for bell, it wants 2 digits.
Things are kinda looking bleak Any one with a PRL file or a bell phone that could get me the PRL settings?
That IS a working PRL file, download it and use total commander to remove the txt extension and update your PRL
After reading up on Bell PRL's, the file you originally tried is the PRL for bell phones. You MUST make sure to get rid of the .txt extension on the end of it before you import it. DON'T just rename it. If you don't know how to do that, then let me know.
I tried it, and removed the .txt, it seemed to go in, but it didn't do anything. Most recently I have relocked my phone and flashed Bells firmware. Now it says I am bell again and calls work, but I still have no data. And the MNC still is just 00, maybe that is correct though?

How did you go about removing the .txt extension?
I have tried the file as both 0TM31398.030 and 0TM31398.PRL
renamed it in windows, I have my own computer company the file was renamed correctly

I am not doubting your expertise...but humor me..
did you let the customizations run after you installed the sprint ROM?
your phone was programmed with the sprint ERI. you need to get the bell ERI. I am not yet sure how you would do that...
I downloaded the txt file, two slow click to rename, removed the .txt extension. I have have "hide ext for known types" unchecked.

Yes I believe that is what happened. Would have thought re-locking and re-flashing with bells firmware would undo that? But it doesn't look like it did.

Anyone able to give this guy a copy of the Bell stock extrom?
Would this help at all? Got no idea about how bell operates...but I was fishing through some files from their Maintenance Update on 5/8 and found it.
Also, what would happen if he tried just flashing the bell ruu executable? No dice?

i guess i for some reason thought a bell ruu wasnt available. it should flash the extrom, which should fix his problem.
that cab you posted may be the fix anyway..
No luck, I am going to try and flash the firmware with one that the Bell Support suggested then run the patch again.
Try flashing this

I'm seeking some assistance, for a friend. he has the HTC 6800 as the thread title would imply on USCellular. I have a Samsung SCH-i760. I am trying to get him set up with WM 6.1 or at least threaded MMS.
Scince he has US Cellular he maintains that he cannot do this and or use the GPS.
any help is appreciated
BTW I searched USCellular, windows mobile 6.1 and some others and came up with very little.
so sorry for the Noob Question
BTW I was going to get the touch PRO... but VZW has implemented new policy that would charge me for a service I don't want, so it's not that I don't like HTC devices.. I'm just stuck with my Samsung.

If the acronym of your carrier is USCC try the dcd's titan ROM 3.3.4
You both have to post more infomation in what ROM and Radio your Titian devices currenty have.
Look at the compatible Roms/radio/Bootloaders wiki and you should be able to determin your next step should be. PM if you get stuck.

Ok, to start off where do I find that info at? I figure its under the device info but all it gives is the ROM version which is 2.17.557.0 and for the radio it is 1.64.00....If this is not what you meant then where can I find that information. Thanks for your help by the way.

Thanks man didn't really know where to start.
Using a rom like DCD is probably best for USCC customers since it's similar to their rom to begin with.
However, this is the key part for USCC customers, use QPST to backup your phone's programming, and go into EPST and write down the values from the HDR values, and after flashing the phone, use QPST to write back the values, and then go into EPST and verify your HDR values didn't change, otherwise you can lose data and/or EVDO access.
I did see that USCC put out a 6.1 upgrade for the 6900/Vogue, so this gives me some hope that they may eventually release one from the 6800. If they do then we are a lot better off because we could flash to this if the phone ever acts up and be guaranteed of warranty support. Right now, as soon as you flash the phone, you take a chance that USCC can claim you voided the warranty.
Do some research on how to use QPST and remember to write down the values in EPST and you should be fine, just take your time, and find a guide that you feel comfortable with.

Where can I find some detailed instructions for using DCD's stuff to update my USCC phone? I have looked in Q&A and on DCD's site and can't find any info. Thanks!

Look into getting a copy of QPST, use it to read and store a copy of your phone's programming. Once you have done that, than any of the wiki's that have walk thrus on how to flash your phone will work, once it's flashed, then use QPST to read your backup file and restore it back to the phone.
Then you are all set.
If you are in SE Iowa, drop me a PM and maybe I can assist you in person.

Ok, now the question is, how do I use QPST to backup the settings? I have QPST 2.7 build 264, but all it has is COM ports, and no USB. I can't find any help or directions on how to backup the settings. I am in SE Kansas by they way, so it would be a bit of a drive. By the way, if I use this to back up the settings, do I still need to use ESPT to write down settings too?

You have to load the drivers for the phone on the PC, I will link you an article that has info on how to do this.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=36377
This is a guide to set up aGPS, but it does include instructions on how to use QPST to read the phone. Basically you just need to save the settings after reading them from the phone, and then after you are done flashing, read from your saved file and write to the phone.
FYI, this guide for aGPS works perfect on USCC, so you can get your friend hooked up with even better GPS if you follow the rest of the instructions in the guide. Tho do the rest of the steps after the phone is flashed.
As far as the EPST settings, the only things I have had to change are the HDR login and password, the password defaults to your ESN (correct), however the login defaults to your phone#@uscc.net, when it needs to be [email protected] (In HEX, not DEC)
For PPP login and password, it should be your phone#@uscc.net and phone# as password.
Without making this change, then EVDO won't work if you are in an EVDO area.

Ok, tried it, but when I tried to read the phone settings, it says that 000000 is not the correct code. Also, what info do you put in for USCC where the IP address and such goes after unchecking the boxes? I found all the other providers, but not USCC. Thanks!

As for the SPC code, do a search for BAFMSL, and be sure to have compact .net 3.5 installed, it will show your MSL/SPC. As for the IP, use the one he gives for Altel, it works on USCC as well.
Follow all the steps for Altel.

Thanks for all the help. I got everything upgraded and now have GPS working. The only thing that seemed to be wrong was the login for data had the wrong domain name. Changed it to .uscc.net and it works great now. Now I just need to figure out how i can add themes to it.
Anybody have an themes info?

Flashing Droid 2 Global To Cricket

Hello, I have a Droid 2 global that has already been flashed, but not under my number, I just got the phone activated in my name, so I have talk and text going on, but I am told I need to fully flash the phone again, since there arent really any guides on how to flash the droid 2 global, I have been looking at the regular droid 2 flash methods(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881883) an droid X methods because someone on this forum suggested either way im having problems finding the files (Autostart.sh & U2nl files, CRICKET PRL for your area) for the first guide, im on the 45$ plan and rooted already if that makes a difference, any help suggested is welcomed

You will actually need to have someone flash your phone again because you need a program called CDMA workshop, you need to write your NV items (which can be obtained from a website), and you need to know how to modify your APNs to use with Cricket. I work with Cricket and I'm one of the store's techs so I have experience in flashing all kinds of phones

I flashed the original fix that was posted a few days ago and it worked great until today. I got my first radio interface error since the pri downgrade. Does this mean if i want to fix my issues completely i should go through these new downgrade instructions? I don't really care about a banner (or even roaming at the moment), since i am assuming an official sprint firmware update will come very soon. The only thing that i need right now to work is my texting. Any suggestions on doing the bare minimum to hold me over till the official firmware is released?

Never assume. Just because VM has a different firmware, that doesn't mean that Sprint 3d's will too. We do not fully know what the differences are between the 2 devices.
Thus the reason for this and other fix threads. I would suggest trying this fix, and see if it helps, and hope that there is a firmware fix in the future.
I will tell you how I restored my data. I first downloaded the following stock rom.
Stock 2.08.651.2 With HTC/Sprint Spyware Removed
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285975
After flashing to the stock rooted rom above I then went into my dialer and typed in ##my MSL number# (Example: ##000000#) To get your MSL number simply download MSL reader from the market. I then clicked on edit and then edited my MDN with all zeros and MSID with all zeros. I pressed the menu button and then pressed reset. After the phone rebooted the phone activation screen came up when I unlocked the phone and it was able to automatically activate it and I got 3G data.

no, i have data ussually. I have found though every once in a while my sms messages will not send (with a radio interface error). This is the issue some are having. I would say it's because of the VM firmware we flashed. Did you try the PRI version downgrade that takes you back to 003 even though it shows 005? or does yours still say 004?

Hockey, I have not seen this issue yet on my rom, PM me if you want to try mine, and let me know if you see any difference. I wonder if some of the SMS issues have to do with the ICS rom itself. Thanks, but I think we have everything we need at this point. I'm writing code right now for the patching part of the process. Not that I have everything that I need just yet, but at least getting that part out of the way for when I do have the correct information.
I've located everything that I have to change in my own partition to fix it (All the differences) next I'm going to compare these offsets with those of the partitions that freeza gives me and see if they line up the same... there's going to be some major coding needed for this, because it did manipulate some of the "flow" I think in the way it lists out certain information in the file, like rom name, and phone number and stuff...
I'm not the fastest coder, but I have basically all I need at this point for my own device... I just want to verify that it's similar code on others' devices as well before I get too far ahead of myself here and have to backtrack. I'm actually going to re-code the downgrade tool to make it part of that, probably rename it to a "multitool" of some kind and simply put it into the already stickied thread, and have closeone update his cd with it so that people can do this with ease.
The best part of this all is that the bricking process isn't going to be a stupid timing thing like it is when downgrading... a single command can brick an already S-OFF phone the way we need it. So no confusing timing issues with this one! Just a nice easy set of instructions. Phew.
Short and sweet basic steps right now:
1.) Nand Backup
2.) Brick
3.) Run "multitool" Plug unplug, yadda yadda.
4.) Boot phone back up to 1.40 S-ON
5.) Run 1.13 RUU
6.) Revolutionary S-OFF
7.) Flash 2.17 Firmware
8.) Flash recovery
9.) Restore Backup
10.) Drink Beer
More details to follow.

I've been asked by lots of folks on how to convert the HTC 10 unlocked US version into a full-featured Verizon version so I figured i'd write an all encompassing guide on how to complete the process.
After following this guide, your phone will effectively be a fully-functioning Verizon variant. IMS, advanced calling, wifi calling and all other Verizon features will work flawlessly!
Note: I am purely compiling this information. I had no part in discovering this process, I simply followed multiple guides and other random posts on XDA to accomplish this! Credits go to @jcase, @beaups, @dottat, and any others that were involved with testing this process. Please make sure to thank these guys for the work they've done.
Step 1: Unlock bootloader and acquire s-off
In order to modify the CID/MID and change the radio, we must first acquire s-off. The easiest way to do this is to follow jcase's well-written guide.
[FONT=Hind, sans-serif][Guide] Root (Optionally s-off) and Keep your radio working[/FONT]
Move on to step 2 after finishing the above guide to completion.
Step 2: Change CID and MID
2a) Download this link, and extract into your directory of choice
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24545065934258327
2b) Boot your phone into download mode via the button combo (down + power) or by using adb reboot-bootloader with USB debugging turned on and then selecting download mode
2c) Issue the following command while in download mode:
Code:
htc_fastboot oem writecid VZW__001
2d) Issue the following command while in download mode:
Code:
htc_fastboot oem writemid 2PS650000
2e) Reboot phone back into download mode and verify the CID and MID have changed and are correct.
Step 3: Flash Verizon RUU to phone
Now that we have s-off, unlocked bootloader and the proper CID/MID on our device, now we just need the Verizon stock ROM and radio on our device. The Verizon RUU will handle both of these for us in a relatively hassle-free manner.
3a) Download the following .exe file to your local machine (big thanks to @dottat!)
Verizon Stock RUU exe (dottat)
3b) Boot phone into download mode (or Android OS w/ USB debugging enabled) and run the executable file
3c) Follow onscreen instructions and wait for process to finish
3d) Reboot phone (it may take a while to boot so BE PATIENT! mine took about 4-5 minutes if I recall)
After your phone boots, it will be a fully functioning Verizon phone. At this point, you can go activate your phone and it will work. You will be able to take Verizon official OTAs and it will behave identically to the true Verizon variant due to the RUU re-flashing stock recovery and an unmodified system.
OPTIONAL -- Step 4: Re-root phone
The RUU that you deployed on your phone was an unrooted system image with stock recovery. In order to get root back, you will need to re-do steps 1-10 in jcases's Root/s-off guide from step 1.
Here's the link again in case you're too lazy to scroll back up
[FONT=Hind, sans-serif][Guide] Root (Optionally s-off) and Keep your radio working[/FONT]
Reminder: your phone already has s-off so you ONLY NEED TO DO STEPS 1-10! Running Sunshine again will likely just report that your phone already has s-off so no worries if you accidentally do the entire guide again.
Step 5: Activate your phone
This step can be very straightforward or a moderate pain the ass depending on what you have available to you.
There are two ways to activate the HTC 10 now that it's running stock Verizon firmware/software:
1) Pop an existing, activated nano-SIM with your current phone number on it in the device and reboot. Voila!
2) Take your device to a Verizon store and convince the employee that your phone is in fact, a true Verizon phone.
I would highly suggest using an already active nano-SIM if you have that available. I, unfortunately, did not as I was coming from the Verizon LG G4. I had to go three different Verizon stores to convince them to finally activate the device. Your IMEI on your unlocked 10 will not show up in Verizon's IMEI database. The store clerk actually had to pull an IMEI from a display model HTC 10 so that she could get the nano-SIM activated for my 10.

Good catch, thanks. I updated the links.
Tried this twice, both times my phone gets stuck on 'Preparing your phone...' after flashing and rebooting on the setup wizard.
edit: worked fine after removing SIM. Run through the setup without SIM for anybody having issues. I know this isn't explicitly stated in OP but if you're having issues, make sure you try this.
If anyone is having connection issues after putting in your SIM, you have to change your Preferred Network mode from Global to LTE/CDMA.
Other than that, everything's working great! Even comes with free VZW bloatware
anyone receiving "Htcdm has stopped" on their phone all of a sudden .... i just downloaded a few things, changed the bootanimation, setup my hotspot, and then bam - popups randomly.

How would I revert back to the stock values and a stock unlocked RUU? Can you put that in the guide with a link to a stock RUU?

I'd *think* that you just do the opposite of this guide.
Write MID/CID back to UL (UnLocked) Variant version along with then flashing the UL Variant RUU.
I agree it would be a good idea to add the return to stock either in the OP, or possibly a link to another thread explaining how.

Looks like all the stock information, RUUs, roms, and recoveries are here.
Has the MID/CID for stock there as well. Hope this makes it into the OP.
When I have access to a desktop/laptop I'll update the guide. Thanks for the suggestions.
After following all the instructions, I got to the end where the phone reboots and is supposed to be Verizon. When mine reboots, however, it comes up with the decryption screen asking for my password. Any ideas?
I think I might have figured it out. I did a factory reset/wipe and it looks like it's coming up now.

Yep that's the fix. The vzw ruu does not wipe.

I did.
It's prepared to be sent to Mr. @beaups when they are back doing devices again on May 22nd.
(In my signature below, in green are the devices I currently own, and the ones striked out are previous devices I had but are sold).
Just an FYI, I followed instructions on this guide, did everything without SIM card in and I do not have any advanced calling features. Signal drops to 1x when on a call and there is no Wi-Fi calling option in the advanced calling menu within Android. My guess on the cause is that I flashed TWRP and side loaded SuperSU before I put my SIM in the phone. I will try again from scratch and activate the phone prior to root and recovery and report back. Is anyone else having similar issues?

Did you activate those features on your account using the menu on the phone?

What menu are you talking about? I went to take a screen shot of my advanced calling menu in settings and now Wi-Fi calling is showing up.. I didn't change a thing, very odd. However, my signal still drops to 1x when placing a call. And my device says non-VZW device when I login to my account online. I'm guessing that is part of the problem.

Here is my advanced calling menu with Wi-Fi calling now showing up. Haven't tested, but it seemed to let me set it up. I have Wi-Fi tether enabled via default.xml edits. The one feature I'd really like is LTE on call. Had this without problem on my M7 but I think thats because it had multiple radios and didn't have to share a radio while on call. My noob guess anyways.
Maybe it's a setting in the hidden dialer menu *#*#4636#*#*? However, when I enter that into the dialer, nothing happens, the entered numbers just disappear and nothing happens. Thoughts?
