Anyone know if it is posible to root a Samsung Infuse 4G on Mac OSX? I know how to root i just dont know if you can root this phone on this Mac OSX because it only shows that you can root with SuperOneClick (Windows Only). Thanks in advance!
Well since superoneclick can run on a mac, then you could try it. See post #6 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=997475. Make sure you have mono installed: http://www.go-mono.com/mono-downloads/download.html.
Anyway to root it without SuperOneClick?
Like can i use the fastboot commands from the android sdk to unlock the bootloader? And then flash Clockwork Mod with
Code:
./fastboot-mac flash recovery (image here)
? Then of install superuser and the infused ROM. Would that work? Or is superoneclick my only option?

Hello,
I just swapped form the Evo to the Photon and i am wanting to root the device. I am reading through development section and I am a little lost compared to what i dealt with my Evo. I see Root and Bootloader. Can I root the phone and not unlock the bootloader (I am wanting 4g). Or when I root i will loose 4g. Thanks for any information you can provide.
No if you root you WILL NOT lose 4G
But IF YOU UNLOCK BOOTLOADER YOU WILL LOSE 4G
and you CAN root without unlocking the bootloader ...
follow this guide..

its the method i used it was pretty easy ...

but in order to flash a custom recovery and then rom, bootloader needs to be unlocked correct? Just trying to grip on if i will lose 4g if going to Alien (which shows 4g in screenshots) or Laser.
Yes download dolphin browser HD download the photon-torpedo.tar
Make sure u do this all from ur phone not computer
make sure u download the file to internal memory of phone, settings storage change to internal
download terminal emulator from market. MAKE SURE U DOWNLOAD SUPERUSER FROM MARKETB FIRST AND BUSYBOX AND BUSYBOX INSTALLER ...NOW..... follow the root procedure people use for terminal EMULATORmethod ,IT TAKES 45 SECONDS IF U SEE FATAL ERROR DURING PROCESS THIS IS FINE YOU HAVE ROOT BUT AFTER U SEE THAT GO TO BUSYBOX INSTALLER AND INSTALL BUSYBOX...THEN TEST ROOT
BOOTLOADER STAYS LOCKED NO ROM FLASHING JUST TETHER AND ROOT APPS WORK
1. I'm new here. Xperia Mini is first Android. I really have no idea on what should I do.
2. I've just read trough all replies in
Revolutionary - zergRush local root 2.2/2.3 [22-10: Samsung/SE update]
And I'm wondering, does this way of rooting affect the DRM and TrackID, and all that stuff, as SE site says? I really don't want to lose any functions permanently on my phone, but I want root access, so I can mod small things, and especially install apps like WifiKill.
So, does this root break stuff , as said on SE unlock site?
AFAIK, unlocking the bootloader can erase the DRM keys. Rooting is a different thing. Originally, you could only root after unlocking the bootloader. Apparently this new method can bypass that? But I'm not 100% sure.

Okay, I'm downloading ADB at the moment. Since either it works or can't do any harm, I'm glad to try it.
TrackID works, i don`t use FB so i can not confirm that it works too.
My BL is (re)locked with S1 Tool and the phone was fresh flashed with .335 by wotanclient.
And, yes, by the way, my firmware is 4.0.2.A.0.42 (Android 2.3.4)
And I'm unclear with this:
The binary is available from here: zergRush binary.
The exploit source is available here: Revolutionary GitHub.
Usage:
You will need adb shell to execute this exploit. We need shell permissions.
Push the binary onto /data/local/ and execute these commands in a shell:

1. is binary any different from exploit source? I guess we don't need exploit source at all?
is ADB shell same as ADB? How can I get shell permissions?
why do you not use this script:

? everythis is automatic.

Wow, this seems alot easier!
I guess I still need ADB (it needs adb drivers) ?
Wow,running that batch file, I have SU, does this mean it's rooted?
So ive got my One X+ but im looking for a way to root it and maybe unlock the boot loader. The only problem is there doesnt seem to be a way to Root on Linux. Ive tried this method but had no luck might be due to it being for a normal One X. Is there a working tool for Linux or a tool that can be run in Wine/Cross-over that someone has used
Im running 4.1.1 with software version 1.17.206.1 if that any help. Rooting is my main priority as i want to get rid of the massive bloatware etc and since HTCDev doesnt seem to be working today. Any help is greatly appreciated.
1. Download and install android sdk
2. Follow instructions on htcdev to unlock bootloader.
3. Flash twrp or cwm recovery
4. Flash superuser
5. Profit
I don't think you mentioned which version of the x+ you have, AT&T or international. It is important to make sure you flash the appropriate recovery. And on htcdev, the x+ isn't listed so when you go to select your device, you have to scroll to the bottom and select "all other supported models". Good luck. Google is your friend.
Its the Internation one I believe as its from the UK, I tried HTCDev but it get stuck at the OEM Token part (step 8 I Believe) at waiting for the device in the terminal
Make sure you've installed the necessary drivers (just install HTC Sync and then quit the installation after it says the drivers have been installed)
EDIT: herp derp you're on linux, give this a try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1119507

Thanks for sharing. This is actually very helpful sometimes it's better to see it done on a vid than reading about it.
Too bad after unlocking the bootloader it voids the warranty.
What up fellow Android Power Users,
I am hoping some one could be savvy enough to help me out.
I am working with an HTC One M8 and I have rooted it, unlocked the bootloader, ran an exploit to turn S-off, and flashed a custom rom called SlimKat 4.4.2 also flashed ClockworkMod recovery as well as Busybox binaries.
SO my adb works just fine via USB on my Ubuntu Linux 14.04 laptop as far as rebooting into the bootloader but when I try to run as root, i get the reply "adbd cannot run as root in production builds."
Also, when i am trying to use Fastboot USB to run a command to change my CID ( I have a T-mobile CID and I want to SuperCID my phone in order to flash a Google Play Edtion 4.4.3 ROM ) all I get back is "waiting for device" and nothing else happens. HELP. Btw I am not a noob but I am seeking answers from users a little more experience than me. But Don't do me with layman's terms, please. What is a production build and why can I not run as root ? I am baffled.
Thank you for your time.
