I did the upgrade posted on here and now I can’t get google voice to call out.. I get the screen to select call out with google voice and it starts dialing but the phone takes over..
Is there a way to get Google Voice to dial out?
I had Google Voice voicemail working on my phone for months, now, suddenly, even though I have Voice set for voicemail, I only get it through Sprint -- but I don't get any notification.
I'm using SteelH's ROM that I modified. Is Voice dependent on any other apps? I took out the visual voicemail app, but I didn't think Voice needed that.
If I call my Sprint number, I get Sprint's voicemail prompts. If I call my Google number I get Google Voice prompts. I used to be able to call my Sprint number and get Google Voice voicemail.
I've cleared data and uninstalled and re-installed. Next is a data wipe and full install of the ROM again if no one has any ideas.

the description you give of the voicemail prompts after calling the numbers seem to indiciate the issue is beyond your evo 3d and more to do with you gv setup.
try calling your sprint number from a different phone. if you get sprint's voicemail prompts, then you need to setup your gv account again. the easiest way to set it up again is to disable sprint integration online in your gv account, wait a lil bit and enable it again.
the disable and enable codes gv gives you with the sprint integration essentially setup the conditional call forwarding for the voicemail.
hope that helps!
+1 on the conditional call forward, I think it is *28 then the google voice number (or your sprint number if integrated). Presto your calls when unanswered will be routed to google voice again.

I was having the same issue. I was too lazy to look it up so I uninstalled and reinstalled the google voice app. everything is working as expected again.
Does anyone know how to assign a phone number to the Fascinate. My phone has no service and I am using GrooveIp to make and receive phone calls on WIFI using my Google Voice number. I am unable to install Google voice to handle texts since the Google Voice number does not show up in the phone....
You have to add a phone number from the google voice website. It could be any number, home phone, friend's phone, make sure the number you add has service cause google voice will call it with a verification number. Once you verify the number on the website make sure you disable it so that when people call you it does not forward to that phone, keep it on google chat so groove ip continues to work. Then when you go to the voice app it will list the number you verified, select it and you will have a few options based on what you want the voice app to do for calls, I usually "put do not use voice for calls" skip the voicemail part and you should be able to receive text and voicemail messages with the app. Hope this helps!
Does anyone have experience using Google Voice without a data plan? My sister just bought a phone to use with Page Plus, and is porting her number to Google Voice.
Do calls work correctly without data? I read a while back that Google implemented a feature in the Google Voice app that downloads the direct access numbers for all of your contacts when you first install the app. How does it handle new numbers that you dial?
Is there a good way to text people without saving their Google Voice "proxy" number, and still have it come from your Google Voice number, without using data?
I use Sipdroid with Google Voice on my tablet.
Inbound and outbound calls over WIFI work pretty well for me. I just dial regular phone numbers.
I've never really used texting with Google Voice.
google voice pay as you go no data plane
Does anyone have recommendation on how to set this up to play somewhat reasonable all together.
I know functionality will be limited when no Wi-Fi is available but......
Text >GV>T-mob carrier>my phone
Call>GV>answer
- yes>got the call
-no> be able to see voice mail notification an call to check the voice mail
Got a question. Google Voice can essently take any old phone that is not activated on a cellular network, and turn it into a wifi phone... A phone that works on wifi only.
However, the Google Voice App alone won't work in this case. The phone will not ring. For the Voice App, I believe you need to forward an incoming call to your cell phone number for the phone to actually ring. If you are trying to have a WiFi phone only, you obviously will not have a cell number activated on this phone. The workaround was to use Hangouts! The phone will ring via the Hangouts app. There is a setting in Hangouts that allows voice calls to ring on the phone.
With the retirement of Hangouts next year, do you think this luxury of a free WiFi phone via Google Voice is dead? Will google be building this into the Google Voice App directly? Is there another work around?
Thanks,
