I need a naming theme for my kernels. Ideas
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
You said that your name is based on joker as in a deck of cards right? Why not name your kernels based on certain cards of the deck?
Slow kernel could be something like Jack's Kernel
Then the fastest could be Ace Kernel.
And it could be further differentiated with suits, Diamond Ace kernel or something.
edit: I just re-read my post and it sounds pitifully lame, but there it is.
Not bad but ill need more choices. Atm i was thinking of random names to identify each setup, girl names for blur, boy names for cm7 and no names for experimental stuff. Then a number system to identity the version.
Like 1.4 newoc 240,350,300 blur would be amy 1.0.0 or something like that.
But i like the card idea

I would keep cm and blur in the name or the thread will blew up with.....wrong flashes.
Like the idea but....just sayin
I just googled "funny names" and there is a few web sites with some goofy stuff.
How about... Characters from Family Guy?

The webOS kernel guy, unixpsycho, names his kernels after planes like starfighter, harrier, blackbird, etc.
You should use names of things that go really fast.

I just would like to know a little bit about these ROMs. Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks as though there are 4 or 5 different ROMs with the "Einherjar" label on them in the DEV section. At first, quick glance it looks as though the only thing that seperates them is the themeing.
Can anyone who uses these ROMs explain to me what sets them apart from each other, and why you chose to go with them over Axura or Bionix?
Their team is large, different guys work on different projects. It's more than the theming, but there is only so much that can be changed from a user's perspective.
I LOVED the notification bar on Flagship (it changed colors depending on your app/background), and that rom was great... Been using Trigger for a little over a week and it's floored me... just amazing speed/stability.

yah so far it looks like Trigger would be the one i would go with.....ill give it a run later on....i loooove axura, but it can be a themers nightmare when switching between ROMs, and i care about appearance ALMOST as much as i care about performance
I'm a big big fan of Master and recommend it to many.... that said, Trigger is themed more to my liking and has been rock solid. Did you see the videos I put?

V2.0.1
V2.1.1
The best way to explain why there are both similarities and big differences in the EDT releases is to explain how we work as a team.
EDT Devs all have a project of their own that is their main area of responsibility. The roms are developed from a stock base - there is an exception to this when it comes to MIUI and the AOSP roms. This Dev has the support of all the other devs when something needs done - this explains the similarities, if one dev does the same thing on multiple roms. There is also members like white and behr who have their on special abilities and contribute to all of the EDT roms.
Duplicate post.

Stand by battery life is great, as good as stock. When using the phone it drains a little bit faster, your overclocking by 400 so its expected. Overall i would say its as good as stock.

That's a bit over-simplified. It is much more than just 2.2.1 apps on a 2.2 Rom. It does take more to doing that than just placing the apps in there. It requires re-mapping all the apps, replacing and including the necessary lib files, etc.
Please do not continue an arguement that has been settled now that EDT, TW and Devs4Android are no longer at each others throats.

Yes The Team Whiskey-/ Dragon and some of the Eugene kernels can over clock very well I had one 1.45 The problem with o.c is the battery drain
But any of those do well in the over clocking world.

It could just mean that the developers of Nexus S put a higher voltage at the higher clock speed, which also means that it kills your phone faster.
You don't gain something from nothing. Oh and I am not talking about battery life....

A newer device with (in all likelihood...this is a guess based on decades of experience with CPU's) a newer revision stepping of the Hummingbird CPU. CPU/GPU manufacturers are ALWAYS fine tuning their designs, primarily for higher yields and better stability. This plays out predictably in the desktop x86 environment with concepts like speed-binning and overclocking in that arena, so it should come as no surprise that this plays out in other areas as well.
Newer board layout with design experience gleaned from manufacturing a few million Galaxy S devices? Reduced capacitance and resistance issues due to layout changes, altering of support components, changing trace lengths...etc, so on and so forth. All of these things can play out for significant and measurable improvements in stability. Manufacturers learn as they "do", the same as we do.
In other words, there are all sorts of easily plausible reasons why.
These sorts of things all have a significant effect in the desktop/laptop system world, so there is no reason to assume they wouldn't carry over to the smartphone universe.
Hey everyone! I'm so glad that full root is finally out! Now all I have to do is install a ROM. I've narrowed it down to these 4. How would you rank them?

I suggest you flash every single rom that is available, as soon as it's available. Sometimes you may find yourself flashing 2 or 3 roms in a day, because a new one is released as soon as you just flashed one. But that's okay. You'll learn which developers you like, and which roms work best with your phone. You'll also spend way too much time with your phone, and make your gf/wife hate you...but that's okay...we all do it....sort of..

This is similar to what I got with alien, build 3. For some reason the java score was always low.
I just asked Faux123 that because of a screenshot he had showing low Java scores and I had seen that all the time too. He said that was because of blur.. and as soon as I benched on cm7 then my scores came back inline.

I'm sure most of you are familiar with HTCCLAY and his "super" series, he's been releasing them since the g1 days. I have the unfortunate displeasure of being on a different device than him, and thus , can't flash his roms. With his permission, I decided to fix that. I present to you SuperCm7 for the At&t Galaxy S II. Its a fully functional and optimized port for this device.
