if it is being disabled.. battery consumption would be increased isn't it?

I don't think the Streak even has that function... that would be a question for TheManii or n0p maybe

we do have deep sleep though
If Deep Sleep is what the OP is referring to, then the answer is No. It is built into the Kernel.
one way not to get into deep sleep is to use the hpa version of WiFi on DSC , that way you will lose battery much faster thou.

Is there a way to have the 3 hardware "buttons" stay on anytime the backlight is on? I switch between devices often and it can be a pain to remember which button is which at night.

This seems to allow a full range of screen brightness adjustment but doesn't seem to offer any option to keep the buttons turned on when the screen is on.

sorry to hear that.
I am on streakdroid 1.9 and when i have that option checked + setting the brightness in that app, the buttons do stay on for me
Anyone else have an idea? I flashed streakdroid 1.9 just to see if the above suggestion worked. Still no go.

Quit quibbling about that... what is a forum for?
I run a Corvette forum and don't jump someone for asking the same questions, especially new members. After awhile the new members figure out how to search...
You also must press the set button.

Still no go. Used both the brightness and the timeout set buttons. Button backlight only stays on for about 5 seconds.
same here.....
At first I didn't like the light not staying on either, however after about a week, it was pretty easy to remember which the 3 buttons are and where... even in the dark. Now I don't mind at all.
Tip... touch lightly anywhere on that side and it lights up.

Is there any app, Xposed module, mod, etc to get the "double-tap to wake screen" feature like LG phones have?
I tried an app that woke the phone by waving in front of the proximity sensor, but that was a battery hog.
Would like to be able to wake phone without power button.
I'm running PAC ROM which does have double-tap to sleep.
Thanks for any suggestions!
2nd this.
This is typically dependent on the kernel. It also needs to have support by the hardware, otherwise there is massive battery drain. I'm 99% certain our phone does not have the proper hardware for it.
We have douple tap to sleep. But not wake.

You just echoed the OP .
What can be done to get wake on tap is my question.
You would have to start by removing tap to sleep.
Can't have both. Its doable but as said earlier it would cause drain issues.

Why can't we have both like LG?
I would prefer double-tap to wake, since I already have icons/apps that can put the phone to sleep like Green if click on an icon.
How does LG do this without battery drain problem I wonder?

Still doable. Not sure what all can be done to reduce drain. Its like Google now voice detection. Disabling that increases battery life as well. So it really boils down to what you are willing to sacrifice for a particular function addition.

Implementation with a disable switch solves that. User can decide turnoff if too much battery drain.
Yep. Would only make sense to be able to disable it. If I couldn't disable Google now voice I would delete it all together... Handy tool. But I enjoy my battery life way to much.
Yes, Gravity screen

Thanks! How long did you use/try the app for? I tried one that uses the proximity sensor over a few days, but it was using 10% of the battery.

Since CM Preview (MT2).
I have Tasker (paid app). So I even disable CM's double-tap to sleep function.

I don't get your point? What does Tasker have to do with double-tap?

I meant Display/Lock in Tasker instead of double-tap to lock the screen (Screen Off).
Screen On can also be set with Tasker, functioning exactly the same way as Gravity Screen.

I use it every day, all the time. I liked it so much as to pay for the it, not using the demo, which is sufficient. No, it doesn't drain the battery.
Probably a dumb question, but every single notification I get seems to wake the screen and I can't find a setting that explicitly disables this. I'm using a KIW-L24 running marshmallow.
Would any of you know how to stop this behavior?

Go into settings. Select Screen and passwords.
Turn off the option 'Notifications turn on screen'.
I hope this helps you. Take care!

Check this, go to Motion control => Pick up => Wake up device
If available in your device then might be similar.
Using third-party app is not recommended, can cause battery drain.

sorry but no , seems you didn't read the OP, he's asking for the tap to wake up feature which the p20 lite doesn't have instead he got referred to the pick up the wake feature which again wasn't what he asked about in the first place and so when he replied his phone doesn't have that feature he was referring to the tap to wake up feature

The only one I used a long time ago was KnockOn (you can find it on XDA) but I don't know if it would work on this device.
Or perhaps going for Tasker, maybe it has something to allow wake on tap.
Just for the kick, is the feature important for your daily use? I personally find the raise to wake more functional
There is no DT2W option. Just FP sensor for that.
P20 Lite does not have touch to wake. Only stock alternative is pickup to wake.
i find this, https://www.xda-developers.com/enable-double-tap-to-wake-on-huawei-and-honor-devices/ . anyone try it?
