I've noticed that since going from my Captivate to the GSII for AT&T, the internet is really slow inside buildings. Sometimes I will have full bars on 3G and HSPA+ and I can't download anything from the Market. I'm running CM 7.1. Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix the issue?
I would hit up the search button. It seems like a lot of people just have slow data speeds on the sgs2, regardless of the ROM. There's a bunch of different fixes some have used, just search and see if any of them work for you.
Flash a different modem. This helped tremendously with my data speeds.

This is the thread.
Thanks for the help guys. I flashed a new modem and that helped.

Hey Guys,
I've got my Vibrant on AT&T but I seem to have a problem with the Vibrant modems, whenever I'm on the 2g/3g mode it'll stay on 3g until theres low reception then it'll drop to 2g. The problem is that once it drops to 2g it won't go back up to 3g, no matter if reception increases.
I saw a post in the development section about I9000 modems working on the Vibrant on the CM7 ROM, I've been trying the modems on the latest CM7 nightly, but even though they install fine I'm getting truly horrible signal. I've also tried a couple Captivate modems but I'm unsure whether they're meant for the CM7 ROM on the Vibrant or not, nothing I've tried seems to work well.
I'd post in the development section but I'm low on posts so I'm not allowed:
Would anyone know if I9000 or Captivate modems would work better on AT&T?
And possibly where I can find the modems that would work on the Vibrant with CM7?
Thanks, this problem has been bugging me for awhile already..
In Chicago area I have very strong 3g signal so it does not drop to 2g. On the other hand, when I was in Florida my phone stayed on 2G most of the time, but it would switch to 3G in more populated areas. I use KB5 modem.
Hi guys, sorry if this isn't the place to post this, I don't have the post count yet to ask in the CM7 thread in the development section.
Anywho, ever since I flashed CM7 on my phone, I haven't been able to get a good HSPA+ connection. It keeps wavering from H+ to 3G. And if I do get a connection to H+, it is dead slow (did speakeasy speed test and got .4 down .1 up).
I also did the ATT data fix, but that seems to not work either.
Any help to my problem?
Mine seems to jump between 3G & H but I never thought to blame it on the ROM. Speeds are solid on both so didn't see it as an issue. Also I flashed CM7 right when I pulled it out of the box so don't know if it did that on stock or not.

The only reason why I think it may have something to do with CM7 is because before I was unrooted stock rom, and I had consistent H+ signal, with 6-7 down 2 up. Ever since I flashed, it has been very sluggish. Even my old Desire had consistent H+ signal in the areas tested. Not sure what's going on. Maybe it's a setting that I need to tweak or turn on? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have an SGSII on Telstra running darkyrom XXLPQ with KH3 modem. I've got an issue where data works fine on H+, but whenever the phone drops back to 3G I get absolutely nothing. I've tried disabling fast dormancy etc, but that just seems to reduce how often it falls back. Is there a modem I can use or a tweak that will let it get data on 3G as well as h+?

I think you are better off on T-model modem, like DVKF2 by telstra as that will work on your I9100T model best.
I have the same problem on stock 2.3.4, xeu. But it just about never drops back to 3g in Melbourne. So haven't bothered with telstra modem yet.

I have a feeling you don't understand this very well and if I'm wrong I'm truly sorry. Either move to an area that you know does not have hspa coverage (otherwise known as 3g+ or 3.5g or h+ or 4G in North America depending on the phone model, manufacturer and provider) but rather only 3g and test there and come back to us or disable hspa in hidden settings (phone control/nas control/hspa control/choose r99 hspa off),which should disable hspa/hsdpa and hsupa and test and come back to us. That should give you data while 3g symbol is lit at reduced speed of course.
Right now all you seem to notice that when you engage data it is h+ and when it falls back to 3g, the symbol is only for voice over 3g therefore no data arrows.
Yeah, I'm talking about when I'm I'm an area that has poor hspa coverage and it drops back to 3g. Btw, my old xperia had no problem getting hspa in these same areas, so my radio performance is generally pretty bad with the sgs2.
Try all the I9100T modems until you find one that works well for you; they do generally work better with the I9100T than I9100 modems. And if that doesn't work, then you might as well try all the I9100 modems.
I've got an I9100T & found there's 2 or 3 I9100T specific modems that I get great signal strength/data speeds with (and granted 1 I9100 modem), and the rest are ordinary for me.
There is no simple fix for this. It's a trial and error thing. Unless you want to spend hours on the phone to your telco for probably zero result ?

Threw me off, because of mentioning 'fast dormancy'.
Good that I apologized in advance then.
I would still recommend testing it the second way I suggested just to see whether it works at all. I also sometime end up in an area that while seeming to have full strong signal, due to a congestion at a peak and other factors, has no or very little data throughoutput (this being in canada).
As suggested by others, testing other modems may help as well.
Don't even get me started with sgs2 and nokia's regarding radio.
I have had my sgs for about a week now, and i have been getting really slow download speeds here in Houston. i mean a constant 1.3 or lower and .3 for uploads
is everyone seeing speeds this slow, i figured i would get at least 4-5 Mbps with this phone. nothing mind blowing but the network seems really slow.
just want some others experiance and if there are links to modems yet, i may just need to flash something different, but could not find threads/links to any.
thanks for the help in advance.
Which network?

Hi guys,
I'm running I9300XXEMB5 but have been noticing poor data performance, phone constantly goes down to 3g mode even in places I know I have good signal, I assume this is a modem issue? How do i go about finding the right modem? If I install modems I notice no difference in speed, and at my house signal is great so it always stays in H. but its when im out and about I start noticing it, but I don't want to have to keep trying different modems for days on end to see which one is "maybe" better.
Phone is New Zealand based 2degrees model, anyone have experience with this?

There is only one thing you can do: test the modems, you can find flashable files in the General section's modem collection.
Another thing you might consider is that certain providers turn down e.g. H+ to 3G or whatever while you are not using mobile internet, but well that is provider related. (called fast dormancy if I am not wrong)
