I know, right? Well, I've been an iPhone users for 4 years, so I know well how they think. Will keep replying for the lulz - it's not really hard to counter the arguments either. I've been using them for years!
I don't defend. Just got sgs2 today and gave I4 to lil cousin.
Lol that was defiantly worth a read. Compare any Apple product with a superior competitors product and you will NEVER get a Apple fanboy to admit its better. Ever.
I've never had an iPhone (because I hate apple, iTunes, and their closed ecosystem), but from what I can see the iPhone 4 is still a great phone, and has a few advantages over the SGS2 :
-It looks better IMO (maybe that's just me but I think MOST phones look better than SGS2, I ordered a Zenus Carbon case hoping it will hide some of the ugliness while protecting it lol)
-It has better games
-It has a few apps that android is lacking, or apps that are better on iOS
-I think the battery lasts longer and the screen has better outdoor legibility, but I did not test that personally so it might be distorted ^^
Anyway, I don't think there's really an argument here : Both phones are very good and very expensive, the SGS2 is probably the best android phone available and the iPhone 4 is the best iOS phone available. So people who want iOS should get the iPhone 4 and those who want Android should get the SGS2, simple as that
Without wanting to start a flame war (especially as in this case, I do prefer the SGS II), surely people blindly defending Android is just as bad as those people blindly defending iOS?
People have their reasons...if you think people can have hundreds of apps which they have paid for, it can make switching platform a costly decision regardless of all the other +'s and -'s.

I get that, there is making an objective choice for whatever reason and then there is rabid fanboyism on all platform. I've always been a bit nomadic when it comes to technology, especially since I work in IT I need to know stuff about all things IT and deal with technology from all over, but I can proudly say that I've never owned anything sold by apple and that's just because I can't stand the fake image of class, pseudo-intellectual facade and bloody ignorance displayed by the morons who fall for the marketing campaigns apple employs.
Oh yeah, I particularly like the one where someone I know got an iPhone 4 when they were released and started to brag about the free iCondom they got to "fix" the reception issue. That made me lolz.
I always like the "Yeah its more powerful but I don't need power so why would I buy it" argument. I dont need a Ferrari F430 Scuderia, but I damn well want one. The only reason I would buy a Honda Accord or something like that is because the Ferrari is a lot more expensive. Here we have 2 phones, that cost relativly the same. So if you could have a Ferrari or a Prius with each of them almost the same price, you would take the Prius because you dont "need" a Ferrari? Fool proof argument there...

Oh yes, absolutely. I've been defending iOS for years, and I only started defending Android last night.
I don't think I've ever been 'blind' in my defense though. The iPhone 4 is honestly a very good handset for its time, and a lot of hate it got were unwarranted.
It's always fun to see people blindly defending for anything, like this case here. There are a few intelligent people in that thread though, so it won't be pure lulz. But there are sure a lot of 'mindless zombies'.
Im a apple fan, had all there models and must say iphone 4 is a nice phone. I sold mine to get iphone 5 recently but cus they delayed i got sgs 2, i like both devices and will still buy iphone 5 when its out, only cons for apple is less customization and horrid itunes. And for me with android its just the apps are not as good in my opinion. So im half and half really i like both, carnt stand windows7 phone !!

Nice... I think you summarised it well.. there is no point in comparing apples with oranges
iphone 4 is garbage....I bought it the wife....all I hear from her is complaints.
It drops calls...it doesnt load all webpages (flash)...the main home button doesnt work sometimes...blah blah blah.
I spend a fortune getting the "bigger GBeeez" (32gb) one for her. Once the SGS2 comes to NA, I will give her my SGS1 and sell the icrap4.
The only things I like about the iphone4 is the screen and the camera quality. I even jailbroke it for her and loaded a bunch of apps...still crap!
All apple fools are idiots....I have soo many friends that only buy apple products...I dont understand why!

Seriously, what's with these "reporters" trashing devices they've never used?
http://www.slate.com/articles/techn...g_new_trend_toward_enormous_smartphones_.html
All that negative talk about the note while admitting:
"The Note hasn’t been released yet, and I haven’t tried it out"
He gives himself away in the last portion of his biased rant:
But I will point out that the iPhone remains, by far, the best-selling smartphone in the world, and it has never deviated from its original dimensions. It’s time for Apple’s competitors to take a lesson from this success and realize that bigger isn’t necessarily better and that a phone’s utility decreases as its screen inflates.

Right, and when the iPhone finally gets a screen size upgrade all these trolls will talk about how great the new size is, how it doesn't feel bulking with little baby hands, how it's not at all awkward to hold up against your head. Christ, they probably shoot a premature load when they find out their new 8" tablet makes phone calls.
I'm currently an iPhone user. Have been since the day they came out, but that will be changing once FedEx knocks on my door on Friday (tomorrow would be even better). I have always loved my iPhone. It has been nearly perfect for what I've needed it to do except in one specific area: Screen size. Sure, I could have made the jump to a 4.x" Android phone but there weren't any phones of that size that I was interested in, and with the push to 4G/LTE there were even less Android devices I was personally felt were captivating to me. What really pushed my decision to leave the iPhone was the release (or the announcement I should say) of the iPhone 4s. Wow! What a disappointment. I didn't find the move from the 3g to the 3gs to be all that spectacular and I certainly wasn't overly awestruck by Siri. Sure, there was some increase in performance but there were no improvements in the area where I wanted it, the screen size. 5.3' is big. There is no doubt about that, but I have big hands, and as much as I've enjoyed each and every iPhone I've ever owned I have always had a problem fumbling around with the virtual keyboard, even when in landscape. My kids on the other hand, they love their iPhones. They use the crap out of them for what they do, and they love Siri. And you know what, that's fine too...
I can't stand how 99% of the reviews for other phone find need to even mention the iPhone. Review the phone your reviewing and stop swinging from apple's nut sack like Tarzan its pathetic to say the least...

I'm so frakin sick of apple. I hate the way they do business I hate the way they make phones. And yes I have owned plenty of Apple products. Apple treats the world like poo by trying to hold every patent available and trying to sue and banish anyone that even tries to do something with mobile phones. Frak u apple. Just Frak u. It's funny how in this piece Farjad writes that "When you go back to a normal phone after using something so large, you wonder what on earth you were thinking." While Engadget says "After a few hours with the Note you'll very quickly become accustomed to the size, and once you have you won't want to go back."
I don't see how he can justify that the utility of a phone diminishes as it's screen size increases. So long as it is pocketable, and increase in screen size will always increase utility. More screen real estate means more room for your fingers, more room for enjoying media, less zooming, and much less eye strain. I absolutely despise anybody that brags about the fackin 'retina display'. At 3.5", holding the phone a foot away or more makes small text unreadable anyways. Yes, our ppi is slightly lower at 285 I believe, but hell, you can at least read text from a foot away. Also, if you move an iphone close enoygh to make the screen appear the same size as the note, or the note far enough away to seem the same size as the iphone, guess what? The note has higher resolution. Bam. Some people are just too stupid and ignorant to accept the fact that the note destroys the need to carry a phone and a tablet. Yes, readability on an iPad is probably easier with the large display, but it's still an extra device that you have to carry, and it really cannot be held comfortably for extended periods of time anyways due to its weight to size ratio. The note will have a great weight to size ratio, making enjoying media for extended periods of time rival that of the lightweight kindles and nooks. Plus it makes calls. It's sad when people are so loyal to a brand that they fail to realize that other brands make superior products. I would take my current infuse or my old cappy over an iPhone any day of the week. And my old cappy is two years old.
The other thing that apple lovers fail to realize is that fragmentation isn't a completely bad thing. It gives you options. You have phones from the size of the HTC aria or xperia mini all the way up to the infuse, galaxy nexus and note, and everywhere in between. You can choose the device that suits your needs best, and aren't locked to a single size, incrementally update phone.
Also, I hate when apple fans bash the rate that new android phones are released. That hate is fackin stupid. It allows you to get the latest and greatest smartphone whenever you are available to upgrade, not just once a year. It also promotes competition that has driven the quality and technology of android devices at an unbelievable pace. Yes, your phone will not be the latest and greatest shortly after you purchase it, but you still have a top of the line phone that is every bit as good, if not better in my opinion, than an iPhone. Fragmentation pushes manufacturers to try new things that will bring great phones to the market much faster than one phone per year. I guarantee that if apple made multiple versions and screen sizes of the iPhone that their market share would not increase. Instead, they would have fewer people per each device, with roughly the same number of people.
People like having choices, and until apple realizes that, iOS will forever be behind android.

Love this comment. Completely agree. It seems nearly impossible yo read a phone review without mention of an iPhone. And why?!!
Constant mention of it is probably the only thing that keeps the iPhone relevant (in any way that it is). Is apple paying all these people!? Jeebus! iPhone is crap compared to even my 2yr old Evo 4g. And I've got ICS on my Evo lol. Would apple ever ALLOW THAT? Hell NO.
Hey, "reviewers", listen carefully,...there is no need to mention iPhone unless you are REVIEWING an iPhone (once a year). Try that, and see what happens to apples market share. I guarantee it would stagnate. You currently are just providing free, unwarranted, press for apple. And looking a fool

While I agree that it is stupid for so many reviewers to talk about the iPhone, that is not "the only thing that keeps the iPhone relevant." Millions of people have and will continue to buy iPhones even if new Android phones are not compared to the iPhone in reviews. The reasons the iPhone is popular are legion, from people who are clueless, to Apple cultists, to people who legitimately prefer the feel of iOS to other mobile options. The clueless people are the only people who might be influenced by lack of iPhone mention in reviews, but I sincerely doubt that many of them have ever read a review of Android device online.
They gave he galaxy note a 2/5 stars slamming it for its size then complaining that the s-pen is too small. Seems if the device was too big, the s-pen should have been perfect. This is the best phone I've owned and I've owned a BUNCH. 2/5? Hell no.

Gawker sites have been dead to me for awhile.
That's absolutely ridiculous. That's one person giving a heavily opinionated rating. They fail to realize the usefulness for a lot of people. For a Guy like me that has huge hands and large pockets, a phone this size is a no-brainer. Also, for women with purses, this phone is completely great when used with two hands. Also, even with my huge hands, I had no problem using the S pen. Did they also forget about the S pen holder if you think it's too small?
Lately I'm really disappointed with the lack of unbiased reviews on phones. Reviewers should take an unbiased viewpoint and point out basic facts about a phone, then suggest their own opinions. Not stating their opinions as fact and downrating a great device.

I definitely hate apple for that reason. They were definitely not the first ones to make a rectangular phone, and they definitely weren't the first ones to make a rectangular tablet. You can't patent a rectangle. And apple knew that. They were just trying to create a monopoly or at least drown out as much competition as possible. The galaxy tab was the first real challenger to the ipad, and they tried to eliminate it. Same thing goes for their proposed injunction against the galaxy s...it was the first series of phones to directly compete with the iphone. Yes, the legal system is incredibly screwed up to even allow it, but I hate apple for even trying in the first place. Also, trying to sue for the use of a gridded system of apps. Ios devices clearly weren't the first ones with that, but when the first truly competitive device has an app drawer that looks like their whole os, out come the lawyers. Legitimately every picture I saw of those court cases only showed the app drawer on the galaxy tab. Ridiculous! There is so much more than the app drawer to android. Also, I think it's ridiculous that they photoshopped the galaxy tab in their presentation to match the aspect ratio of the ipad. And the judges that couldn't tell the difference from 20 feet away between the two are some luddites that seriously need to check out this technology called eyeglasses. Maybe apple can patent those too and supply them free of charge to bribe them a bit. Wouldn't put it past them.
Don't get me wrong, I loved my iPhone 3g while I had it, and I can't argue with the fact that apple devices are very visually appealing. However, android phones and windows computers suit my needs more. Though I don't imagine any of you defending apple and calling me a troll, haha, I am not trolling; anybody who knows anything should be upset with the way apple has done business as of late.

What I like about the Note is that it fills the void that jb0nd was talking about -- between a smartphone and a tablet. When Apple released the iPad, which was supposed to be the middle ground between computer and smartphone, these biased bloggers refused to complain that it was just an oversized iPod, and that it would be a failure. No, they supported the idea full-on, gave it a 10/10, and convinced the public that it was the product to buy.
8 hours battery life hahahahahahaha
I mean the other specs are a bunch of crap honestly...

But what do you guys think?
It can download up to 100 megabits per second. Single chip, single radio, dynamic antenna, a slide shows. It can switch antenna connections beetween different networks when needed.
This display has 44 percent more color saturation than the iPhone 4S display. “This is the most acfurate display in the industry,” Schiller says. It has integrated touch in the display, which makes it 30 percent thinner. Now, it has ultrafast wireless technology too. “We’ve built in GPRS, Edge, EV-DO, HSPA, HSPA+, DC-HSDPA, and yes LTE,” Schiller says
10:17
All of Apple’s software is being updated to take advantage of this display: Keynote, Pages, Numbers. iLife software too like GarageBand and iMovie and iPhoto.Apps run at the same size as on previous iPhones, with black borders above and below if necessary, if they aren’t optimized for this larger display yet.
10:16
“This display is simply amazing,” says Schiller. They’ve added a fifth row of icons to the home screen — the better for those hundreds of apps you’ve downloaded. The calendar shows more events, email shows more emails, Schiller demonstrates all this with a few slides.
10:14
The iPhone 5 is the thinnest and lightest phone Apple has ever made: 7.6 mm thin, 18 percent thinner than the iPhone 4S and the world’s thinnest smartphone. Its 112 grams, 20 percent lighter than the iPhone 4S. It has a 326 PPI Retina display. The new screen on iPhone 5 is 4 inches, 1136 by 640 pixels with a 16 x 9 aspect ratio. “A phone should feel great in your hand,” Schiller says.

First, Apple has been releasing new phones every year, not 6 months.
And every single industry does it. Not just cell phones. Computers, tablets, cameras, cars... Everything. It is consumer's choice to decide when to spend.
Carriers carry a multitude of phones. They can't train their employees to fix everything.
At least iPhones have Apple stores to fix them. If my Note broke, I have to find a service center which is alot more inconvenient. If anything, Apple has this the easiest for their users.

you cant argue these facts...I would MUCH rather take my phone back to a manufactures "store", than the 3rd party service centers or send back to the factory option that we are saddled with as Android users..For this, I give Apple kudos for..
And, I agree with an earlier poster, about IBones having their "place" in society for the non techie hordes...You dont sell all those phones that Apple does, unless there is a really strong demand from SOMEONE for them..
Apple ....uh....(sorry, I threw up in my mouth there for a second )...
I guess what gets my goat ...is the level of high mindedness that apple users often have toward the android community in general.
Several people I work with are absolute azzhats about it.
They presume that they hold the greatest level of technology ever created in the palm of their hand, and scoff at any android device.
When in truth, the device is a few years behind the latest device in terms of software advances, and hardware as well.
I guess it might be the denial factor, or maybe the lack of freedom to do anything with the device other than turn it on or off and put a case on it.
Regardless...the latest device is still the same as it always was.
An iPhone, joined at the hip to it's Creator, and ever so badly needing it's users to understand that truth.
Folks can buy and use what they like, but I would "Never " buy a device that had to answer to anyone but me ....g

there's no shortage of azzhats in the world, is there?
love the barf comment in your first sentence!
I know this is a little off topic,. but thought it should be seen. Here is the article that i copied and pasted with the URL below to the story, thanks.
There has been lots of action in the mobile industry this week.
First, Samsung is launching a much-anticipated new smartphone in New York this evening--a phone that many observers think will vault it ahead of Apple (AAPL) and the rest of the smartphone industry.
The existing version of this phone, the Galaxy S3, has already put Samsung on a par with Apple, with many phone buyers preferring the Galaxy's large screen to the smaller one on Apple's iPhone 5.
Samsung's new phone, the Galaxy S4, will be even bigger, and it is also expected to have several other new features that may make the iPhone look old and boring in comparison.

Samsung, the Korean TV giant, has come out of nowhere over the last few years to become the world's largest smartphone seller. This rise has surprised both Wall Street and Apple. Apple's stock has tanked. And with Samsung now poised to leap past Apple, Apple executives are suddenly on the defensive.
This week, in a surprising move that has rubbed even Apple fans the wrong way, one of Apple's senior executives, Phil Schiller, gave interviews to The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg in which he trashed the Android operating system that powers Samsung phones.
"When you take an Android device out of the box, you have to sign up to nine accounts with different vendors to get the experience iOS comes with," Schiller told the WSJ. "They don't work seamlessly together."
He went on to say that "Android is often given as a free replacement for a feature phone and the experience isn't as good as an iPhone."
The points that Schiller made about Android--that it is fragmented into different versions and that it's not as simple to use as Apple's operating system--were reasonable. But coming as they did on Samsung's big launch day, the comments seemed defensive, classless, and even desperate.
Apple's founder and CEO, Steve Jobs, was famous for trashing his competitors' products. But Jobs' picked his spots carefully. His criticisms came on Apple conference calls or at Apple events. He didn't try to steal competitors' thunder on their product launch days.
Also, in the days when Jobs was ridiculing the competition, Apple really was miles ahead of everyone. But it no longer is. So the sudden show of bravado seems even more tone deaf.
The last big development in the smartphone industry this week is that the executive who has built Google's (GOOG) Android operating system from the ground up, Andy Rubin, is being replaced by another Google executive.
Google appears to want to "unify" its two operating systems, Android and a laptop-based operating system called Chrome. This move makes strategic sense: In a world in which "mobile" is now a continuum between laptops and phones (with tablets in between), it's silly to maintain two separate operating systems. And it looks as though, in this unification, Google has chosen between two executives and decided to have the new combined effort led by Chrome boss Sundar Pichai.
In a trend that is reminiscent of the PC industry in the 1980s and 1990s, the Android operating system has become the dominant global mobile operating system over the last several years.
Apple's operating system, meanwhile, iOS, has been reduced to a niche player.
In "platform markets" like these, in which third-party companies build apps and services that run on top of these operating systems, market share is very important.
So if Samsung's new phone is a big hit, and Google's Android continues to gain global market share, Apple's challenges are only going to increase.

This is probably in the wrong section and will probably be moved. but i call bull**** on this! Samsung smokes apple out of the water, and im just talking about the Note 2.. And i came from an iPhone just last year!
I love the iPhone and I love android. Both for different reasons. The iPhone always "just works". Which is fantastic and boring at the same time. Android works great or needs help working great which is all the fun we do

Well this is my first android phone where it "just works".. on top of the freedom that comes along with it, by far, the best phone on the market. It's already awesome!
Wrong section . People fail to realize that Android statistics include the cheaper, lower end phones. Samsung caters to those who want the high end devices as well as to those who seek a low-cost for, while apple does NOT.
So they are comparing their ONLY phone which is their HIGH end to a variety of androids from the GN2 to some android phone you can pick up for pennies on the dollar. Those who I have spoken to that talked bad about androids were talking about phones I've never even heard of. What they should do is compare the satisfactory ratings for specific phones and see which one comes on top...oh wait...already done that and saw the results
So many editors are so quick to jump the gun and publish an article with HORRIBLE sources and populations in which the statistics were gathered from.

So if this is off topic why would you for any reason think it goes in development? I mean you've been around since 2010..... come on man! Reported.

Thread has been moved, and unfortunately I am going to have to close it also. All talk of "iPhone vs. Android" or "Apple said this" tends to get ugly fast. Trust me I despise Apple just as much as most of us do, but this isn't the place for it.
