I have a WiFi only 10.1 Tab. It came with Swype installed, and since I love Swype on my phone, I switched to it. It works for some things, but when I enter an address in the browser window (both the included browser and Xscope), when I type the period between words, it deletes the last 2 letters so entering "mail.google.com" gives me "ma.goog.com" . I've played with a bunch of the swype settings and nothing seems to help. Any ideas? Is anyone using Swype successfully on the 10.1 Tab?

Yes, but you have to remove libswype.so by hand before updating

Yes had same problem, I used es file explorer and mounted system partition as read/write and removed swype.
Then download latest Swype beta installer.
Cheers

same here on mine and my co-workers fascinate. Both running ukb
Edit: out of curiosity, would the swype from the GB leak work or does that fall into the "ukb has special swype" column?

It happened to me running Comm Rom 2.0. It was still an issue after applying the 2.1 patch.
Update: I fixed the issue by following these instructions to install the latest beta version. Though, it's not the same version (3.x instead of 2.x). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128986
Happened to me at exactly 12:00 AM...
I got the same on Com Rom 2.0 with a themed version of Swype (from v2.75 Steel Blue). Putting Swype 3.0 did solve the problem.
Fascinate users are legally allowed to have Swype obviously, according to http://www.xda-developers.com/android/official-stance-from-swype-inc-regarding-its-distribution/, however the Swype version must be the same that was pre-installed (stock). I'm guessing a lot of the current ROMs are putting in newer versions of Swype, causing these license disagreements.
Thanks guys I did end up putting swype 3.0 on and I thought we were allowed to have it but someone cleared that up too.Thank you

I downloaded flext9 from Amazon when it was the free app of the day a little while ago. Finally have an excuse to try it out. I kind of like it, to be honest.
All I did was delete swype using titanium backup and downloaded beta by going to swype.com
Working fine now and I think I like this version better

That's what I did too. After uninstalling in titanium backup you have to REBOOT. 3.x rocks. It's more accurate and also has words above the keyboard

Mind elaborating?
Use titanium to uninstall the swype included stock, then use the beta installer.
Now available in 3D
I can't get tb to uninstall it completely.
EVO 3D - BAM!!
Worked for me...using the keyboard right now. Used titanium backup to uninstall stock swype then used the swype installer from the beta site to download and install 3.0. Id thing was the new swype installer started it was overwriting a previous copy but it installed correctly

I was able to get it by re-requesting the installer from the beta site.

The regular typing on the beta is night and day better than the default swype on the 3vo. The default one is horrendous at regular typing and predictions

You can also use Root Explorer, go into /system, search Swype and delete the two files that come up. That was the only way I was able to get Swype Installer to work.

Never having done this before I just want to be sure I understand... On my Rooted 3D, use Titanium to "Un-Install" and then load the Swype-Installer.apk on the SD card and install it like any other .apk?
Thanks in advance.

If you would still like to try to uninstall Swype on a production devices you will need to delete or rename /system/app/Swype.apk and /system/lib/libSwypecore.so before installing the Beta. I will stress that this is NOT SUPPORTED in anyway. Some firmware has other framework customizations by the carrier that will cause further complications if these files are removed. If you try to uninstall Swype from a production device and break it the only advice we can give you is to seek instructions on how to reload your device with the stock rom.

Here is a method for getting the new Swype that will servive a reboot. I did it and have rebooted several times and it keeps the swype beta.

Except that it isn't, because you have to disable the currently installed Swype in order to install the new one. You can't do that without deleting it, which in turn requires that you be rooted.

I did read his post. I also read your post. I actually comprehended both of them. My reply was intended to point out that you do, in fact, have to delete the old before you bring in the new, which was entirely missing from your concise list of rock 'n roll.

Oh, just for anyone else doing this you also need to delete libSwypeCore.so from /system.lib
I used root explorer to do this. Swype forceclosed on me when I did a reboot but had not deleted the libswypecore so I'm hoping this was the problem.
So I removed the stock swype from the Photon because well it just isnt the one I like. So I got the new 3.0 and installed it. It worked perfectly until I restarted. Then I got force close after force close until I disabled swype. Not sure why this is happeneing I did this when we just had root and it did this originally but I reinstalled and got it to work fine after reboots. Any ideas?
Thanks

Same thing happened to me. The new 3.0 worked great until a reboot, then I got a ton of force closes. I uninstalled 3.0, trashed the new lib, and reinstalled. She's been solid through several reboots since.
Prob not what you want to hear but on the Swype site on the 3.0 download page it says that if your phone came with Sywpe 3.0 beta will not work on your device.

You have to delete the Swype that came with it before it will even install 3.0.
I had similar problems. My solution was to disable Swype 3.0, uninstall (using manage applications), then reinstall. As stated before, I've been solid through several reboots since.
When you remove the included swype you also need to remove /system/lib/lib Swype forensic

Where are you guys getting the new swype from? The official website says the beta won't work if your device came pre-installed with swype. Is there a non-beta version available?

Just figured that out before your post, but thanks anyway for the help.
I froze Swype with TB and installed the beta. now it says its updated and works fine.
Night and day between Swype 3.25 beta and the one that was installed 2.7. Loving 3.25.
For a while, I thought it was my phone that was having issues, but I happened upon the issue noted in the link below. Also, see attached screenshot for sample of the issue. Tested Swype with stock browser and it works fine.
I use Swype as my primary keyboard and have gotten so used to it that I can't imagine using anything else at this time.

I use Swype all the time as well as chrome on my note, and I don't have this problem. I'm using a custom ics ROM black star currently, but even with other ics roms, still haven't had this problem in the URL bar. It has happened to me in the captcha input box on this page though on the second word...
Are you using the version of Swype includes with the build or the latest beta from their website?
I'm using the newest beta and don't have this issue.
Incidentally, the new beta can be loaded alongside the pre-installed version now.
I use SwiftKey and whenever I type on chrome it works fine the first word or two then it starts duplicating the same word over and over again until I close out of the keyboard and reopen it. It drives me crazy!

I actually don't use the actual swype feature, as I just like the keyboard for the ability to long press keys to get punctuation, and symbols. Swyping in a text box does help fix the problem for me though!
