[Q] How to go from Bonic Boostrap to Razr Bootstrap? - Motorola Droid RAZR

I rooted my phone using the bonic bootstrap for my droid razr. Although everthing worked out correctly I want to install the razr bootstrap so I can backup and restore my phone.
Does anyone know how I should go about installing the razr bootstrap and deleting the bionic bootstrap?

You should just be able to follow this...let the OP verify however.

.
can any one else help me with this? i followed zedomax and installed the bionic bootloader to root. i would like to install the modded version for the razr

Are you referring to boostrap recovery app?? There is no access or root of the bootloader as it's locked up.
After you rooted your Razr did you install the Bionic bootstrap recovery? If you're refering to the recovery app then uninstall the Bionic bootstrap app, delete the clockwork mod file on your sdcard and then install the Razr bootstrap. I think this should update clockwork (if it's different) and then place a new clockwork folder on your sdcard.

[Q] Help with CWM Recovery

Hi All,
New to the XDA forums and newly rooted my Droid Razr Maxx on 2.3.6.
I've followed the instructions for installing the CWM Recovery as highlighted here, but am running into troubles. I have moved both the .apk and .zip onto SD, installed the .apk but when doing the reboot it reboots normally and doesn't give me an option to install from .zip. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong here?

Find the safe strap apk for the RAZR online, download, install, install recovery.
DROID RAZR MAXX
You access CWM recovery from within the app tray. Click on the Razor Bootstrap icon, click the Bootstrap Recovery, get success and then click the Reboot Recovery.
Thanks for the help guys I was able to get it working using the Safestrap.apk
Any suggestions on good ROMs for the Razr? And guides? I'm kind of new to this scene, I just kept my old Droid 2 stock and slow.

Cannot boot into CWM recovery to install custom ROMS

Pardon me if this is a noob question. I am new to Android. I have recently restored back my Razr to stock using RSD lite. After that I used EternityProject's EasyRootICS package to root my Razr. The rooting went fine and I checked thereafter with Root Checker and found that my Razr was rooted. However on installing CWM Touch installing the recovery and trying to reboot into recovery, my Razr gives me the first moto screen and then goes black. I am now unable install any custom ROM but have to be stuck with the stock one, which runs buggy for me. Please help.
Dont use the cwm touch. Its a mistake.
Get safestrap 2 or bootmenu instead.
Cheers

How to remove Razr Clockworkmod recovery 5.8.4.5

I have the Verizon CDMA razr on ICS rooted and installed the Razr clockworkmod recovery on this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751826
I see that it has issues and that safestrap is the safest option, so I want to uninstall it and install safestrap instead.
Researching through the forum, I found that to remove it, I need to run droidrazrutility 1.82 and fastboot restore. Is there another way to do remove this recovery and install safestrap?
Thank you guys in advance,
Have you tried the installation in reverse order using the apps you used to install? There should be remove buttons in the apps.
try uninstalling the application from menu, install safestrap from hashcode, install recovery, uninstall recovery and uninstall safestrap..

Using Matt's droidrzr utility is the best option. It wipes out EVERYTHING, puts you back on the ota path and keeps root. Then just google How To SafeStrap and hashcodes page should be the very first hit. Download the apk and then click Install. Reboot and enjoy touch screen recovery.
Edit- If you need help using his utility I would be more than grateful to help

[Q] Recovery flash = no luck

Hey guys so I'm trying to root and flash a custom ROM on my friend's x2. I have it rooted and i used the bootstrap method. When i boot into recovery it comes up with some severly outdated CWM.. I get into ROM manager and flash the newest recovery but whenever i boot back into recovery it still goes to the outdated one.. I wanted to push the recovery.img via adb/fastboot but can't for the life of me find JUST the .img, it's always a flashable .zip for some reason. I've read a hundred tutorials on how to do this but no one really has had issues with this specific thing of course.. not that i've seen anyway.
Thoughts?
In other words, how do you flash the latest CWM and BOOT to it? Whatever methods i know of obviously dont work for the x2
The Droid X2 only uses one recovery and that is the bootstrap recovery. There is no other recovery that will work for it. So that "outdated" recovery is all you get.
EDIT: be carefull with ROM manager. Some stuff may mess up your phone. Dont try and use it to flash a rom or anything. The Droid X2 has a locked bootloader so the only tools it has are custom made tools that work only for the DX2.
EDIT 2: Also, the droid X2 requires certain steps that other phones may not need. So maybe tell us where you are right now. What version of android is it on, what ROM you want to flash, etc.
Just download bootstrap recovery for the droid x2 (search in the forum) and download it, we are limited to what our phone can use because we are on a locked bootloader, also if you want to get into bootstrap recovery again after you install a rom like cm10 or cm7 you have to download bootstrap recovery cm7 I hope I helped :fingers-crossed:

[Q] Droid X2 with CM10.3

Hi,
I recently purchased a Droid X2 for use with Tracfone. I installed CM10 Alpha3 (20130112).
1) I installed the modified bootstrap (system recovery) .apk from Rootjunk.com named "Boot Strap Recovery patched for cm7, cm9, cm10".
When I run it, the phone remains in bootloop mode. I have to remove the battery to start up the phone. Is there a different bootstrap file to use?
2) The speaker volume is low. I read something about a kernel that needs to be installed. Where is this file and how do you install it?
