Why am I not surprised to see it Android wide? Don't know about the other OSs, but Google has a pattern of invasive practices.
But this one sounds over the top. Enough that the justice department should be looking at it.

It's not Google. It's the carriers whom are customers of CarrierIQ. They are the makers of CIQ, the app/service/rootkit in question.

I've scanned QuikSense with Logging App test by TrevE and confirmed no CIQ on QuikSense
I've also scanned my Amaze with TrevE's Logging Test App and no CIQ was found.
Any carrier who installed CIQ is going to see an avalanche of lawsuits - and rightly so. CIQ is as invasive malware as it gets - it logs everything - passwords, encrypted data, emails/text messages. If you get access to CIQ data stream, you have access to everything.
I just wonder how much spyware the likes of the NSA have built deep into cellphones - probably got some zealous "anti terror" whackjobs willingly inserting malware to track people - all hyped as a way to get Bin Laden and cronies, no doubt. But in reality, ensnares Joe Consumer instead.
I saw many post regarding this CIQ fragmenting all over XDA's subforum. Instead if XDA Admin or someone with high reputation or even better TrevE himself open one single thread and unified everyone voices into one solid thread - it'll be much, much more powerful if we have to stand-up against those guy - proably with some kind of Big Brother backed them up just for their conveniences if ever their needs arise
IMHO, NSA wouldn't bothered to tracked every single citizens in this country but they would love to have some litle guy doing the dirty job for them - in this case CIQ is clearly is.
If we don't stand up behind TrevE we may ended up loosing the case. With their monies and ties with other organization's affluence, the worst scenario is they will send an patch OTA for us to opt=out and the rootkit still remained deep inside our property
Just my .02
EDIT:
Some user may say that I may have something to hide but this is about my privacy, my freedom, my property and my right. Nobody have right to take that away with or without my consent. Period!

The only listed item is for calendar entries that were force closing when they were being edited. Beyond that we have no information that anything else was included. The issue seems to have been enough to warrant a maintenance release apparently.

If you are who you say you are, any reason why this isn't unlocked? I mean, for real. Think about it... The devs on xda pretty much decide shoot to which phones are purchased due to the customability and let me just say, after 100's of hours of deving on the EVO, I will not be happy if the 3d isn't rooted sooner than later..

What information do you have on the (what I presume would be an) OTA that will address the crypto-signed bootloader that HTC promised to "unlock" for us?
...and if not an OTA form will it be an RUU? If not that, then what? This is a MAJOR ISSUE to all of us here...if it is not addressed to our satisfaction I don't think it is an exaggeration to say that +95% of us WILL return our phones in 30 days.
In summation, how will this issue be address by HTC and/or Sprint?

And a simple ota would solve all that. I'm sticking with my original thoughts. Seriously, how many people follow myn or virus and decide to get phone they use because of what team synergy is working on? Trust me, 2 million hits on rl5 alone for myn. Tmartin and myself watched 150k hits in a couple days when we ported the first sense 3 to the EVO.... Before kingdom... My understanding, one feature of CIQ essentially a keylogger. So it can log otherwise encrypted info like credit card numbers, passwords and other personal info. Worst case scenario, hackers or other unsavory characters find a way to exploit CIQ and get this info.
This is my first HTC device with CiQ. Any links? Searching takes me all over the web but not what I want. Thanks.

This is TrevE's thread about it, he's the dev that initially pointed all this out.
[DEV|APPv7] CIQ / HTC & Google Checkin / HTC loggers / Tell HTC Info & Removal
And here is the app he created to check for logging features. I've purchased the license for my EVO 3D and it also works on my BB Flyer. All logging is gone now.
Logging Test App v7
FWIW, I installed hc (provided by globotron) and treve's app did not detect ciq on my wifi only flyer.

Right. But that's for the international One X with a tegra processor. This one is for the US variants with a snapdragon processor. Sure, this probably could have fit in that thread but it's not a "repost".
Anyway, to stay on topic: As much as I want to be excited, this is for the One line and I know our devices are pretty similar but until I hear it from HTC I wont be holding my breath. I'm sure we will also get the update, it's just comforting to hear it straight up from them.
HTC's quote doesn't say anything about the AT&T and T-Mo variants specifically...Just that the One S, One X and One XL...all of which I believe also exist out side the US.
Now that's not saying that I don't believe we will eventually get some JB love.
But also, our phones are different from the One series and it still doesn't mention us.

You're not much of a reader, are you?
The article from Engadget was referring to Telestra. An Australian network that just so happens to have the dual-core S4 processor version of the One X, dubbed the "One XL." It also mentions this:
If you happen to own a non-LTE, Tegra 3-based One X, then the absence of that handset on the list doesn't mean much -- that model simply isn't part of the carrier's line-up.

Correct, on the other article. This release came just now (looking at Engadgets post time). Reason would dictate that this IS for the US variants. It would seem strange for HTC to announce the same thing twice. Not to mention that Engadget also made two articles about it.
Regardless your attitude is unwarranted. There is no need to be a jerk. You don't know if I read or not. I did. The above is what makes logical sense. "GG" What is that even about? There is no competition. I shared my opinion, if you can't be nice about it, don't reply.

There's nothing I need to be nice about. It's a repost. That's the problem with these threads. For some reason, everyone seems to think that there's only 1 page of threads started, and completely ignore the autosearch when creating a new thread. Someone before me posted saying it was a repost, then someone called him an "a hole," and said it wasn't a repost. Then I post, with a link for proof and explain, and all of a sudden it's, "Well, that's the Tegra 3 version" (Which it wasn't). What does it matter what version of the phone it is?
Are we going to have a new thread started when they announce that the One X for AT&T gets confirmation? Then the one that's for Vodafone? How about creating a new one as well for when O2 gets confirmation? Then one for Rogers...
Do you see where I'm going with this?
No need to get at each other's throats guys. In all fairness explicits thread was first but this threads info is technically new and (official). The original article posted yesterday was based on Telstra's support website. All articles that were written based off of that info assumed since the One XL (equivalent of ATT One X) was getting it as well as the One S to expect the Tegra 3 One X (International One X) to get it as well as other variants. This article is HTC officially confirming that the (International) One X, One XL, and One S are getting it.

Trust me I get that, but we all know what happens here on XDA. When new articles pop up people look at the first page and if they don't see anything about it make a new thread. Some will agree, some will not. If you don't you can just report the thread and mods will deem whether it should be closed or merged.

Assuming they want stock android yeah

Yeah some people just want stock AT&T Sense. Anyways, I believe it's AT&T fault for not rolling out the update. HTC leaves it up to the carrier to when they want to release the update. I could be wrong because Tmo and Sprint hasn't released 4.2.2 either. I have a feeling that The Verizon HTC one will be released before we see an update.

I've been on 4.2.2 for a little over a month now. Everything just works, and no AT&T bloat. Also have the AT&T OTA radio flashed and the build.prop tweaks needed for the new channels.

Very true, I hadn't considered that. I'm not sure HTC Sense will be "worth it" for me...

Where is the up the 4.2.2 update for the US? HTC needs to stop spending money on stupid marketing and develop the 4.2.2 update for ATT. Hurry this change! I think it is time to send a message to HTC on its Facebook page. Start posting and let them know your displeasure.

Hahaha like it's all HTCs fault... International has it and there is basically no difference between international and AT&T software besides stupid bloat, so go complain to AT&T if you want. I'm sure they'll send the OTA to your phone right there on the spot.
Posts/threads like this are way to common and a waste of space, I just don't get it.

yeah what's up with this? didn't XDA used to require like 50 posts before you could start a thread? this is why we have androidforums.com. regardless, HTC needs to spend more on marketing so that more people will buy their products and ATT will have to prioritize the updating. this delay is not on HTC...it's almost 100% on AT&T. ATT had the HOX JB update for like 3.5 months before they pushed it out to people, and their own customer service isn't even made privy to the status. this is what the purchase of subsidized phones and contracts gets us consumers. if it's REALLY a problem for you, then you're at XDA for the solution. this isn't a place to complain. if you want stock sense, that's fine, I can totally appreciate it, but you dont come to, and sign up for, a Dev website to ***** about the lack of a stock OTA from a carrier known to take (queue Sandlot) FOR-EV-ER to update it's phones.
Interesting. Thank you to everyone for your thoughtful comments. I have rooted a lot of phones and wanted to see why the update was not moving forward. The extra colorful comments are welcomed as well. The only issue with forums is I could be gaining advise from experts or middle school students.

I think the snide replies are rooted in the fact that the basic sentiment of your original post has been stated an overwhelming amount of times on this website, especially with regards to AT&T and HTC issuing an OTA for major - and even minor - software updates. Many folks get tired of coming to this site to read the same thing, hence the increased likelihood of getting a snide reply.
Truthfully, the update probably is moving forward, it's just that AT&T is about as transparent as the Bush administration so we never have any clue where things stand with regards to actual delivery of the updates. Yes, forums is probably going to be hit or miss with regards to quality of advice. But the way you're delivering your comment here makes you seem like you should be in forums, and is probably going to get you some colorful responses from non-middle schoolers.
If you've rooted as much as you claim, you probably know that we almost never know why carrier updates are not moving forward....or if they're moving forward at all. Many come here to find technical solutions and workarounds to that exact ongoing problem, and often get annoyed seeing the same thing posted again and again in each subforum. I think the general assumption here is that many of us are, in fact, frequently posting complaints/concerns/comments on carrier and manufacturer websites, social media pages, forums, etc. We're all on the same boat, or at least many of us.
We welcome rallying for a cause here, but it's possible there's a better way to go about starting a rally for this issue. In the past, folks have posted the actual interactions they've received from customer support reps and techs, feedback responses, etc, and discussions have ensued as to the best ways to get in touch with the companies involved with regards to really displaying the distaste of both the developer and general enthusiast consumer. The AT&T/Rogers/Telus HTC One X forums is a great case study, in particular, the rally around getting the original JB update RUU, source, etc.
I've had a few interactions with HTC and ATT with regards to future updates, but have gotten absolutely zero information from them. Sadly, they mask their lack of sharing as ignorance all too well. Even more sad is that CSRs and technicians are probably not really lying at all when they claim to know nothing about the updates. Again, we're hooked into contract, not to mention that the vast majority of their consumers don't realize the potential benefits of upgrades, and in many cases aren't even aware of their potential existence. That's where we'll probably really see the change, in getting more people familiarized with the beast we are burdened to deal with; not here, but in the general public.

Oh haha you just wanted to see why it wasn't moving forward is all?
Strange, then why didn't you ask WHY it wasn't moving forward? Instead you complained that its taking to long and then blindly blamed HTCs new marketing campaign for the delay? Doesn't make any SENSE (pun intended).

"adj: So great that any other word employed would be woefully insufficient, and would serve only to limit the sheer magnitude of the greatness intended as a descriptor."
For those who aren't familiar with the word.
