I have searched through the forums and am not coming up with much. I just followed globatron's guide on installing honeycomb on my flyer and everything appears to be working fine. However when i go into either the music or the gallery app, it is not showing any of the music or photos from my SD card. Ive also tried flashing flyhoney v1.0 and am still getting the same problem.
When i run Astro or ES File Explorer, i am able to find the music and play from there just fine, it just never shows up in the lists inside each app.
Has anyone else come across this issue? If so what was the fix for this?
Don't think its a HC issue. I can't see my music on SD card with GB either, or am I just stupid?

Not sure, everything was working fine. Rooted and ran stock for a bit with no issues. then after updating to honeycomb is where i ran into this issue.
Im currently going through the process of reverting back to complete unrooted stock to see if that clears it up, then i may try again. In the meantime it would be great if there is a good solution to this.
kinda remember there is a folder scan stuff shall be changed in the apk
but i forgot rest of the story
I remember that I had the problem when I first installed HC with Gloatrons guide, Power Amps folder scan would not return any music files... I un-installed Power Amp, re-installed and all was fine.... also weird is on my Desire S running lastest MIUI rom when I upload a foto to Facebook it disappears in the Pic folder under albums... but still is there as a thumbnail using Root Explorer... just a weird thing, I guess!

Try going into settings and unmounting your external then remount . let disk scan. If it is still not showing then use a file explorer app and navigate to a picture and select. Once

Tried that and am able to see all photos in file explorer (both ES and Astro), still nothing in the gallery app. Same thing happens with the music app. I thought it may be something with the stock apps, but the google music app doesnt see the music either.
Been letting the tablet sit at the "searching for music. please wait..." message for quite some time and nothing seems to happen. Does anyone know if maybe there is a music storage database somewhere that may just need to be cleared?
After reverting back to GB it works, so i thought i would try going to HC again today. followed the guides exactly. even did a clean wipe both before and after flashing. Still the same issue.
I know my ext sd has occasionally unmounted itself on honeycomb.

I have had a persistent problem with moving around from one hc Rom to another. Basically on globatrons stock s off hc my system apps can see and access my external sd. I have a backup saved. If I flash a custom Rom and wipe my data I can not get system apps to see my external sd. If I do not wipe data they will. I have had this behavior flashing every hc Rom for the flyer.
Has anyone else experienced this and if so how did you fix it?

mcord11758, that's on my to-do list to look at if nobody get's it sorted before I get to look at it.
Ok cool just wanted to make sure I am not crazy or missing something basic. For what my knowledge extends to I have tried every trick I got. Not a huge deal as suitable replacements are available, just an annoyance

Don't ask me why, just installed alternate music and gallery apps. Opened the alternative gallery, then the music player. The music player has an option to dl album art that is missing. Did that. Wouldn't you know, my stock gallery and music app now see my ext sd. Do not know if this helps with a potential fix..... Go figure

I just flashed Westfire ROM 3.0 and the media files on my ext-sd are not being detected.
\sdcard\ext_sd\Music\song.m4a etc.
Or
\sdcard\ext_sd\DCIM\100MEDIA\ etc.
I can see everything in Root Explorer but neither Music, Google Music, or Gallery see the appropriate files.
Any clues for me?

Another option you might try is to use ES File Explorer or a similar program. Go to the folders where your pictures and the music are, and create into this folder a new one. Don't put any files in this folder! Just rename the created folder in .nomedia and reboot with fastbootmode ( in the energy settings) disabled.
I had similar problems once with an Archos 70 Internettablet, and this was the solution that worked for me.....

There's some mysterious bug regarding how the media scanner is triggered in some of the ROMs, I think... if you keep telling media scanner to run again and again, eventually it twigs that there's music.
i've never had this problem...until i read this thread...and then a day later it happened to me too
WHAT ARE THE CHANCES??
Pictures but no music - Evo View
I have an Evo View. I have about 3GB of MP3s on my sdcard. I've been unable to update my music library. I've tried creating a .nomedia folder in the folder where my music files are. I rebooted with fastboot disabled. But my library is still empty. If anyone has any other ideas, please share.

I believe the .nomedia file/folder tells android to exclude the folder from media players. So I'd delete this.
Then I'd unmount the sd card, and mount it again.
Go to file explorer, find your media and click a song to play. It should play fine.
On the mount it should recognize your media in the default music player. I just tried it and worked on my gingerbread rom. You might have to do a restart to get it recognized. But on HC or GB, this worked for me.
There's an app called rescan media on the market that you can run instead of restarting. Just run it after you mount the sd card.
I use poweramp to play my music and it finds my sdcard fine. It has different equalizers setup and sounds great. Plus you can choose where you media files are located. This makes it easy to setup your music files on the external sd card. But that costs a few bucks.

Maybe.
The problem is an incorrect link in the filesystem. Instead of link to a file, it link to another link.
The problematic file is sqlite3 in directory /system/xbin. You must find somewhere this file and replace the link.
Hi, Im pretty new at the whole rooting thing but I believe I have most of the simple parts down. I am running the stock thunderbolt rom with S-off and rooted, also debloated. Everything has been running smoothly but when I flash new ROMs to test them out, I've noticed each time a new one is flashing the text when it is flashing displays how much space my SD card has left on it, this number has diminished drastically sense I flashed my first ROM. I was wondering if this is normal or should I be concerned, looking for a fix for this?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Download and install esfile explorer.
Run goto menu ,settings about 2/3 down the page check root explorer, I leave mount system unchecked until I need to write to it.
Go back to main page
Click menu then manager , then sd card analyst. It will scan sdcard and sort by size largest down.
Hope this helps.
Warning: Flashing Roms while under quillie suit can be hazardous to you health.
Thanks for your Service.

That worked! Looks like HTC sync was making duplicate copies of my music each time I was syncing it. Deleted Music and installed doubletwist, problem solved!

Hey guys, I'm having issues with the gallery in epinter's CM10 rom. I've done some searching and it seems like other people's is working but everytime i open it up it shows no pictures. I've cleared its settings and cache but it still shows nothing. The only reason this bothers me is because it appears that Google+ won't instant upload pictures unless they show up in there. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm using the 8-11 release but it gave me the same issues in the release before that. Also, I'm using internal storage with no sd card if that matters.

bump
Just download quickpic.
I've been using quickpic for several months now, but Google+ uses the gallery app (from what i can tell) to share pictures and detect new pictures for instant upload.

I'm having same issue. Also no music. Tried moving files to external and back, format both cards. Nothing I've tried has worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
MB860 Peace
I have this occasionally, but don't use G+ so it doesn't really bother me as quickpic always works. But to help with the question, I thought I read that when the Media Service is running, things like the Gallery, Maps, and a few other google apps (that use the service) might act like they're hanging, but it's because one of them is using the service. You could try force closing it, or let it finish on its own. Also, try clearing the cache on the media service/gallery/camera/maps. On occasion when the camera stops working on me if I kill the service it sometimes then starts working. This might not be the best option, but something to try.
im having the same problem... apollo dont recognize any music someone can help?
Well my camera has always been laggy on all 4.0+ roms even though some people say it works for them. Anyways, I tried clearing the data and reseting maps/gallery/camera but it still doesn't work. I'm wondering if the media service is actually just borked and I've been misinterpreting what other people have said.

Look for and delete a file named .nomedia from the base of which ever card you have these images or music on. I heard that this was something a ROM Manager update did.

I had the same issues with my pics and music. Looks like you've chosen reboot option from power off menu. For some reason after reboot pics and audio can't be recognized. Try to power off your atrix and trurn it on after few sec, this worked for me, hope will help you too.
Didn't work. Thanks anyway
MB860 Peace
Well I kinda figured out what's going on with the Gallery. It appears that a media scan won't show media already existing on the device. However, if you take a picture it will show the new pic in the gallery correctly. I've also verified that I have no .nomedia files.
I'm guessing that when a photo is taken it explicitly adds an entry to the media table, but there is a problem when a full scan is triggered which makes the gallery blank.

Ever since going to CM10.2 several months ago, whenever I try to specify music folders on my SD card (internal and external) in Poweramp I just get a never ending scan and the folders never show up (see screenshot). This also happens on any other AOSP 4.3/CM10.2 based ROMs. Anyone else out there using Poweramp have similar issues and did you find a fix? I tried the fixes suggested on the app developers site like reformatting the card or upgrading to a newer build but no dice. The autoscan will eventually find the folders so I can play music on my phone but it also incorporates ALL the folders and files on my phone that have any kind of media files which I don't want.
Edit: can't seem to upload the screenshot. Just a spinning circle in the dialog box. Sure your imagination will be sufficient.

Titanium your Power Amp settings and then wipe the app's data and cache. See if that helps
