Media not being found on ext_sd - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

I just flashed Westfire ROM 3.0 and the media files on my ext-sd are not being detected.
\sdcard\ext_sd\Music\song.m4a etc.
Or
\sdcard\ext_sd\DCIM\100MEDIA\ etc.
I can see everything in Root Explorer but neither Music, Google Music, or Gallery see the appropriate files.
Any clues for me?

Try this

Another option you might try is to use ES File Explorer or a similar program. Go to the folders where your pictures and the music are, and create into this folder a new one. Don't put any files in this folder! Just rename the created folder in .nomedia and reboot with fastbootmode ( in the energy settings) disabled.
I had similar problems once with an Archos 70 Internettablet, and this was the solution that worked for me.....

There's some mysterious bug regarding how the media scanner is triggered in some of the ROMs, I think... if you keep telling media scanner to run again and again, eventually it twigs that there's music.

i've never had this problem...until i read this thread...and then a day later it happened to me too
WHAT ARE THE CHANCES??

Pictures but no music - Evo View
I have an Evo View. I have about 3GB of MP3s on my sdcard. I've been unable to update my music library. I've tried creating a .nomedia folder in the folder where my music files are. I rebooted with fastboot disabled. But my library is still empty. If anyone has any other ideas, please share.

I believe the .nomedia file/folder tells android to exclude the folder from media players. So I'd delete this.
Then I'd unmount the sd card, and mount it again.
Go to file explorer, find your media and click a song to play. It should play fine.
On the mount it should recognize your media in the default music player. I just tried it and worked on my gingerbread rom. You might have to do a restart to get it recognized. But on HC or GB, this worked for me.
There's an app called rescan media on the market that you can run instead of restarting. Just run it after you mount the sd card.
I use poweramp to play my music and it finds my sdcard fine. It has different equalizers setup and sounds great. Plus you can choose where you media files are located. This makes it easy to setup your music files on the external sd card. But that costs a few bucks.

Maybe.
The problem is an incorrect link in the filesystem. Instead of link to a file, it link to another link.
The problematic file is sqlite3 in directory /system/xbin. You must find somewhere this file and replace the link.

[Q] Honeycomb music and photos not loading from ext_sd

I have searched through the forums and am not coming up with much. I just followed globatron's guide on installing honeycomb on my flyer and everything appears to be working fine. However when i go into either the music or the gallery app, it is not showing any of the music or photos from my SD card. Ive also tried flashing flyhoney v1.0 and am still getting the same problem.
When i run Astro or ES File Explorer, i am able to find the music and play from there just fine, it just never shows up in the lists inside each app.
Has anyone else come across this issue? If so what was the fix for this?
Don't think its a HC issue. I can't see my music on SD card with GB either, or am I just stupid?

Not sure, everything was working fine. Rooted and ran stock for a bit with no issues. then after updating to honeycomb is where i ran into this issue.
Im currently going through the process of reverting back to complete unrooted stock to see if that clears it up, then i may try again. In the meantime it would be great if there is a good solution to this.
kinda remember there is a folder scan stuff shall be changed in the apk
but i forgot rest of the story
I remember that I had the problem when I first installed HC with Gloatrons guide, Power Amps folder scan would not return any music files... I un-installed Power Amp, re-installed and all was fine.... also weird is on my Desire S running lastest MIUI rom when I upload a foto to Facebook it disappears in the Pic folder under albums... but still is there as a thumbnail using Root Explorer... just a weird thing, I guess!

Try going into settings and unmounting your external then remount . let disk scan. If it is still not showing then use a file explorer app and navigate to a picture and select. Once

Tried that and am able to see all photos in file explorer (both ES and Astro), still nothing in the gallery app. Same thing happens with the music app. I thought it may be something with the stock apps, but the google music app doesnt see the music either.
Been letting the tablet sit at the "searching for music. please wait..." message for quite some time and nothing seems to happen. Does anyone know if maybe there is a music storage database somewhere that may just need to be cleared?
After reverting back to GB it works, so i thought i would try going to HC again today. followed the guides exactly. even did a clean wipe both before and after flashing. Still the same issue.
I know my ext sd has occasionally unmounted itself on honeycomb.

music apps doesn't detecting songs except poweramp

I am encountering a strange problem.any music player except poweramp doesn't showing my songs.but using any file manager I can able to play songs individually it's annoying me a lot.has any one faced this problem?pls help me
Wait for a while then check again or try rebooting your phone. Btw, what rom are you using?
Moving your songs to a folder named 'music' might work too
Delete the double post too

Songs are in music folder only
Ok!, try to browse using root explorer, and show hidden files, and find ".nomedia" file to the folder where the music files are located and delete it. Now go to dev tools and selext media scanner.. that should do the trick..

Help with moving and downloading music to SD card! Not USB storage.

OK guys! Now don't hate me. I know this has probably been asked many times before. So don't hate me, just looking for help. I download a lot of my music from the app called " mp3 music downloader". My question is " all my songs are being put into my USB storage not my external SD card. I have a 32 gig SD card that I want all my music to download too. Well one is how do I move all my music files from my USB to SD storage? and 2 how do I set it up that whenever I download music it automatically goes on my external SD card? Thank you to anyone that is willing to help a newbie.

I believe in the USB settings you must select, "mass storage mode" when connected
When you plug your note into your computer- if you run windows autoplay should recognise 2 seperate forms of storage. Usueally drive," I: " is your external SD
You can open both and simply recognise the difference between the two and your computer will recognise the amount of storage on both there is. So it should be easy to identify your external SD
For your sake, if your transferring music or anything for that matter organize it on your computer into folders- although generally the note recognizes the entire card with or without orginization; I just prefer not to mix my music with my backups in the same place
If you have any further questions feel free to PM me!

Wait nvm there's an easier way. Go to the ssettings of the app and change the directory to your external SD
From your phone download an app called astro file manager
Fine where your music is, cut and paste it to your external SD
What I described above is for the transfer of files through a computer but you can use your phone! Ignore my first post

Thank you so much for the quick reply. I did want to know how to do this from the phone only. I also went into setting under my music app mp3 music downloaded. There is no selection. Probably a ****ty app. But works great. I will try astro file manager. But does this mean every time I download a song I will basically have to do a copy and paste deal?

Well I checked the music app I use. Under settings there's no selection for where the music fies are downloaded. It automatically puts it in usb storage. I'm going to have to try another music app. Thanks for the help. But I did move all the files to the external SD card. Using Astro file manager. I'd like using this music app because it has the american billboard chart I can just pick the songs rather than typing and thinking of the song or searching.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
I use that app and Your right there's no way to change the file location. Once a month I just do a cut and paste to my SD card. Its the only solution I've found.

Your devise cannot play any media with stock media player while media scan is running ( small sd card sign at notification bar). Let it complete to play media files like music and videos. Once scan completed you can play any media.

I have this exact same problem. I don't mind playing my music/videos from a file manager, but this also disables my freaking CAMERA. Trying to open my camera/video recorder just gives the same "Try again after media scanning complete" error message, even though the media scanner is not running.
Do I need to create some more folders on the SD card? Probably just going to try formatting and trying again, but I am so sick of doing that with this phone. If LG didn't make it practically unusable by default, it wouldn't be necessary D:<
Well guys i switched my internal and external sd and my phone scans at boot. At this second im going to try and run stock media player and see if my music shows up.. brb
Update.. my stock media player is Sh*t now and just scans usb.. im guessing cuz i switched my memories? One thing i havent tried is putting my sd card music files onto my internal sd card music folder. The only reason im not pressed to fix the issue is because the media player i downloaded is better than stock player and soon JB will be out for p769 so ill have to switch internal/external memory again. I think then my stock player will play. Its weird tho my stock player should simply scan for music files on device and sd card. Idk whats so hard about that

Can you post the forum/thread where you got your information about swapping external with internal sd. I want to know because i might be able to help. I know of two threads, and i combined information from both and everything has been working fine.
Sent from my LG-P769 using xda app-developers app
I got mine working without a format. I was using RemountSD and a script running from SManager.
I had to go into RemountSD and change to the settings posted by arman4o in the "App data on external SD" L9 thread:
arman4o said:
Try RemountSD
ICS Settings:
Interne SD - /mnt/sdcard
External SD - /mnt/sdcard/external_sd
Target external SD card - /mnt/sdcard
JB Settings:
Interne SD - /storage/Sdcard0
External SD - /sorage/Sdcard0/external_sd

These settings in RemountSD took care of my media scanning issues (as soon as I rebooted the media scanner started up, when before it was freezing), and now I can use my camera again.
Unfortunately now my 32gb microSD card is no longer showing as my primary internal storage. In fact, it's not showing up at all. But at this point I already have all the large games installed to the microSD that I needed (and even though it doesn't show up under storage, the games still work), so I am just going to wait until a JB 769 ROM before I mess with all this crap again.

Poweramp music folders with 4.3 based ROMs

Ever since going to CM10.2 several months ago, whenever I try to specify music folders on my SD card (internal and external) in Poweramp I just get a never ending scan and the folders never show up (see screenshot). This also happens on any other AOSP 4.3/CM10.2 based ROMs. Anyone else out there using Poweramp have similar issues and did you find a fix? I tried the fixes suggested on the app developers site like reformatting the card or upgrading to a newer build but no dice. The autoscan will eventually find the folders so I can play music on my phone but it also incorporates ALL the folders and files on my phone that have any kind of media files which I don't want.
Edit: can't seem to upload the screenshot. Just a spinning circle in the dialog box. Sure your imagination will be sufficient.
