[Q] CheckROM RevoHD™ V3.1.1 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi i was trying to download that rom from checkrom.com/threads/checkrom-revolutionhd-v3-1-1-xwkj3-rock-stable.208/[/url] and after download i Checked MD5 and they are different from those that are on dl page.
MD5 of file I have dl is 8A84E918EFE8861F9F5102EF7F2A7928
and MD5 on pages says that is shoudl be ce1af2d87feaa5a10da0a6948c95bea8
Any one can tell me where i can dl correct rom with good md5.

Ensure you antirus software is disabled as corrupts the files due to "false positive" detecting SuperUser app inside.
Try re-download again and as I suggest above

I tried that at work but md5 remain the same with av disabled. i will try to do that at home.

Problem has been solved by dl it at home.

[Q] Can somebody please help me with the md5 code

I am a newbie but i just wiped my brother's x10 mini pro and installed MiniCM v6.0 Final Release | for CWM (big thanks to doixanh) MD5: E4B8A514D72034DDB0BC53B08F4142E. I know not what to use or how to use the md5 and what to do with it. phone giving md5 error. Help!!!!
Compare the md5 of the file you've downloaded to the md5 in the first post of the slade miniCM 6 thread. If there's a mismatch, download the file again. Though, I probably wouldn't install v 6.0 on a wiped phone, since it takes ages to boot. Read more in the above mentioned thread.

please pardon my ignorance, i'm a web developer but what exactly has md5 got to do in this? is there anything dat i have to do before installing or any other app i need to download?
I don't know exactly (actually, I have no idea...) how the md5 is generated, but from what I can understand, it reflects the integrity of the file. If the file is somehow corrupted during download, the md5 differs from the original one and if I recall correctly, slade included an md5 check in the installation script of his latest rom to avoid unnessecary phone-bricking. So, my advice remains, download the file again. There's no need to download or install anything else. I'm not a developer of any kind, so if you really want to know what the md5 is, i suggest google or wiki, but I'm fairly sure I've understood the use of it in this setting...

[Q] What is MD5 Sum?

I see this a lot here lately. What exactly is it and what do you use it for?
Very basically MD5 gives a value of the file it is referencing. If you see a file with a MD5 sum next to it you can download that file and check its MD5 sum to ensure the file downloaded properly. There are different programs for it.
Certain Odin and other files will be signed, for lack of a better word, with a MD5 sum. When Odin runs it checks for that signature and if found it runs a MD5 sum check. If the signature and check don't match Odin will fail.

Thanks for the clarification.

Did you download the entire package ? it may happen if the download got interrupted mid way ......... in that case you'd have a zip file of a lesser size which can't be opened ....... try extracting the zip if you get an error you've got to redownload the package....
also ensure that the package is not read only (just incase)

ok... package is not read-only... it's -rw... so it's good....
how do i check the md5 checksum in multiupload?
i m downloading the latest version now... hope it wont get disconnected...
Find an app like MD5Summer (Windoze) to check the MD5 sum once you've downloaded the package.
Also, you can use pretty much any archive program (7Zip, IZArc, WinRar) to test the archive once you've finished downloading it.
If it comes up with fail for *any* file, don't flash that package/download it again. You might have to try downloading it from a different PC/internet connection like I did a while back when I was having probs downloading roms from home without them being corrupt.

no no... i mean before i downloaded the package.... is there a md5 checker tool so that i can compare wit the one that i downloaded?
ok i will try to download using another pc..
You have to finish downloading the rom/package before you can check the MD5 sum as there's nothing to check if you haven't downloaded it (obviously)

yes i know... what i meant was,... is there like a website that tells me the md5 cs in multiupload, so i can compare to the one that i had just finished downloading...
anyway.... thanks to the above poster.. i deleted it from my phone and then transferred the file again... and now it works.... weird,... i transferred first to my microsd, then to phone... i guess that method doesnt work... better to transfer it directly to phone...
thanks y'all!!! been a great help... very nice community here
The MD5 checksum is usually listed next to the link where you download the archive wherever you're downloading it from. Honestly, it's not that important. The most important thing is you get the entire file. And if you "test" the archive in 7Zip/IZArc/WinRar & it comes up all files OK you should be fine.
I've never had a problem flashing a rom/kernel where the test in IZArc has indicated all files contained within are OK/the archive isn't corrupt.

ic.... oh well.. thanks anyway .... ohh 1 last question.. so if i want to revert to the stock rom, i just do the same thing but with the stock rom i can download from samfirmware?
Why not download the stock rom from here ? I wouldn't know about files from Samfirmware as I've never downloaded anything from there.
If you want to go back to stock, download the rom from Intratech's thread, flash it in Odin, done. Again, test the archive integrity in IZarc or similar to make sure it's OK (given you seemed to have had some problems downloading an archive that wasn't whole or corrupted).

Or you could use Mobile Odin and keep your root intact even when stock

[Q] To MD5sum or not to MD5sum?

Hi all..
I have been using the Zip files, via CWM to update my CM10 versions.. All is well..
But I see the md5sum files that one can flash with ODIN there as well..
So my Q is: Do I need to flash the MD5's as well? If so, for what point and purpose?
Regards
T
Md5 files are checksums for the file you are downloading. Its basically a way to verify you have downloaded the complete file and that its the file that it says it is.

Solved

Hi guys,
I'm trying to set up ota updater centre for my rom. When I'm registering the rom, it needs the MD5 sum of the rom. I have downloaded "MD5summer" but i cant check the md5 sum of all the zip file, only for the folders inside it.
What i'm doing wrong?
If i'm right, what code should I take (system or Meta-inf)?
