Solved - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm trying to set up ota updater centre for my rom. When I'm registering the rom, it needs the MD5 sum of the rom. I have downloaded "MD5summer" but i cant check the md5 sum of all the zip file, only for the folders inside it.
What i'm doing wrong?
If i'm right, what code should I take (system or Meta-inf)?

Clockwork Mod MD5 Error

Went to install a backup made with CWM today. This is the first time I've done a restore on this phone. Went to restore and am getting an MD5 mismatch on all 3 of my backups!
I have not moved the files or changed their names. They are right where CWM put them.
I've had trouble with the newer versions of CWM in the past that use the TAR files instead of an image file.
I deleted the MD5 file and through terminal did a md5sum *.* > nandroid.md5 to create a new MD5 file but it doesn't work. Is the *.* a proper way to wildcard all files in the directory under linux? Is this the correct way to do it or is it just one of the files I should be doing the MD5 for?
Thanks for the help!
Mike
Can't believe no one has an answer for this.
I did answer my question about the proper syntax for the MD5, it's: md5sum * > nandroid.md5 in case anyone wants to know.
I did finally get my phone to restore. I removed the RAZR bootstrap and reinstalled it and bang, it installed just fine.

Can you say exactly how you did it? Would be quite interested to know.

First be sure there are no spaces when you renamed the file. Then you can check out this post on repairing md5 sum errors. I think they get corrupted when copied from PC to phone.

You have to rename the file back to its original name.

[Q] To MD5sum or not to MD5sum?

Hi all..
I have been using the Zip files, via CWM to update my CM10 versions.. All is well..
But I see the md5sum files that one can flash with ODIN there as well..
So my Q is: Do I need to flash the MD5's as well? If so, for what point and purpose?
Regards
T
Md5 files are checksums for the file you are downloading. Its basically a way to verify you have downloaded the complete file and that its the file that it says it is.

Need help with restore!

I backed up my rom with Clockworkmod v6.0.1.4 and when I went to restore it, it said md5 mismatch checksum. I checked in the advance restore options and it shows the default restore format is .DUP instead of .TAR so it saved it in the .dup format. Now, when I went to check up on the folder on my SDCARD it never showed an md5 file because it never created one. I read all of the " 20-second md5 fix " posts and I created an md5 file and made them blank off of a YouTube video and I also installed RapidCRC to attain md5 checksums from the img files in the backup folder to add to the new nandroid md5 file and out in the backup root folder and I even tried the SDCARD root, but to no avail, they all failed and I still get the md5 mismatch error. I have attached pictures that show my folders and files. I need some help on restoring please!

Help zipping a custom rom please

I have followed every step of this turtorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2746044
Not sure what is going on. When I try to flash i get this message: Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found (next line in red) Failed to map file '/externel_sd/Root Stuff/TestRom.zip (next line in red) Error installing zip file '/externel_sd/Root Stuff/TestRom.zip
Just out of curiosity I unzipped a known working ROM and rezipped it with winrar and get the same error with a known working rom. So it is something in the zipping process that is making it no work, I just dont know what. Any help is appreciated.
Note I have also tried Z-zip to zip my rom and get the same for my custom rom and also a known working rom that I extract and repack.
