Just read some reviews and the dock's trackpad was mentioned as a problem. Apparently there is no toggle to disable it, causing accidental cursor moves and such? I do that all the time with notebooks and such already, kinda disappointing that there won't be a disable toggle. That should be possible to rig up in ROMS though, I assume.

Reading the official manual, the dock has a key to enable/disable the trackpad (Page 9-11)
and i bet there will be some skilled xda dev that makes a program/hack to automatically disable the trackpad while typing ;-)
You can always use the keyboard shortcut button to disable the trackpad...same as the first gen transformer
thanks, I was having trouble believing there was really no way included to disable. Stupid non thorough reviews! (Engadget)

I dont know if this is possible within the framework of Honeycomb, but I was wondering if I was possible to add gesture control using a root-access app?
Personally, I'm only looking for one feature: WebOS style task switching. I love the way Honeycomb multitasks, but I wish I could just swipe up from the bottom of the screen (starting on the bezel below the screen) and have it open up Honeycomb's app switcher. For reference, WaveLauncher implements similar WebOS-lite utility with a similarly implemented gesture implementation.
And just for the hell of it, I think it would be great if there could be an option to open the task switcher horizontally across the middle of the screen. I know I know, "Go buy a touchpad!" I'm just saying I think it would be awesome, and I'm certain others would think so too.

there's this app call dock4droid. you can find it in the market. some member post about this app some time ago here. I am using that app now. it works great.you can choose to put it on left/right top or down, anywhere you like. it will show recent app, and you can customize what app to appear on that dock.
sorry for my poor explanation. download it and have a try, it should fits what you want. I think. There's a free version of it.
p/s : i never touch the multitask button ever since i used this app it's kinda lag for me
I am I afraid there is no good solution, and each app that overlay your screen like this one will make your tablet lag :-(
Normaly I switch betwen 2 apps, it would be nice being able to one click switch between them

I agree. Just a "Quickswitch" button that switched between the last 2 used apps would be awesome.

I was thinking more along the lines of an individual button next to the task switcher. It's surprising how much quicker & intuitive things feel when there is only one action needed to be performed (one swipe, one button press, etc.).
Anyway, I'm just sorta spitballin' in this thread. I've been using an Android phone for over a year now, and my tablet for a few months, and I still haven't been able to get over missing WebOS style multitasking. That's not to say I'm dogging on Android's, it works well, it's just not the absolute best.
Is there any minimize button? It wold be what I need

The home button
This is a great idea, but may only be possible on rooted phones with custom ROMs. I am going to look into an implementation that does not toll performance or battery. Perhaps a simple widget at the bottom of the home screen? Then again that would require going home first, making the widget redundant.

So exactly like the blackberry Playbook... that's exactly what it does ... swipe from bezel to open multitasking
The only thing I miss from IOS is ACTIVATOR.
So many options.
You could hook any action/gesture to any app.
It was awesome.
Sometimes is cumbersome to hit the home button located at the bottom when I'm holding the tab with both hands on the sides.
Would pay money for an activator equivalent.

Yes, and just like the TouchPad/WebOS.
A swipe gesture from the bezel is inherently easier than almost any other single input option because when holding the tablet there is at least one digit within an extreme proximity to the bezel & screen. I would say over 90% of my usage patterns are with me holding the tablet in at least one hand, and a large majority of me holding it with both hands. In my case, gestures like that are accessible from any direction and any side of the screen, and would be superior than having to click a 20x20 pixel button in a single location that isn't near either of the places where my hand naturally holds the tablet.
Again, for other people their usage patterns may dictate a better option. I just happen to think most people use their tablets in a manner similar to mine, which would make these gestures extremely useful.

So about the whole Honeycomb issue where it disables the physical buttons. I was playing with Lenovo's Thinkpad tablet and noticed that, in fact, it has physical buttons in Honeycomb just fine. They feel good and the fact that they are both on the screen and in physical form doesn't seem to be an issue, besides it being a little redundant. Anyone else noticed this?
Honeycomb, the OS doesn't disable anything, HTC made that decision on their beta HC. What are you asking? The Acer tablets running Honeycomb have physical home buttons. The A100s home button was redundant and really annoying due to placement. I wish they had left it off.
I'm not asking anything. There was some speculation on the physical buttons being incompatible with HC entirely. Clearly that's not true. That's all.
I think you misunderstood, what was being speculated on was whether it would be allowed to get rid of the on screen buttons and only have the capacitive buttons because the on-screen ones take up space on our smaller screen. If the answer to that is no, then I probably would have made the same choice as htc did in the beta if it was up to me.
That's a good point...
Sorry I misunderstood your post. GlobalTron is right, the notification bar buttons are an intrinsic part of the Honeycomb OS. It is possible to hide the entire bar however, some apps that require full screen display invoke this feature.

I meant permitted, in terms or the normal UI, hiding within an app may possibly be different.
Okay so I have a few ideas for ROMS (I know Its a little early but still) In no specific order
1. The ablity to remap the 16 shortcut keys on the keyboard to whatever you want! (kinda like the quick toggle widgets but for the dock keys)
the reason I want this is because I keep pressing the arrow keys while typing and it keeps messing up when im typing! Can we disable these just like you can disable the mouse!
A list of shortcuts I would love to be assigned to the dock!
*All of the stock ones
*A wake function
*Ability to map application shortcuts (Market, browser ect.)
*Mount/Unmount SD card Micro+Full
*Pull up the quick toggle/notification bar! (also add more toggles in that menu)
2. A better dock to tablet charging policy (multiple governs)
3. Hide the on screen home back keys when dock is attached! (kinda like when you watch a full screen youtube video!)
4. Get rid of the SD card notification
5. Switch to a password unlock when the dock is connected (instead of pattern?)
6. Optimize the GPS
7. Disable all of the dock keys
Add any of your other Ideas below and I will add them to the list!

no unless it is a rom or kernal it belongs in the General Check the stickies in the development section

Not sure if this is possible but i would love (and send donations to) a developer who can get rid of the MTP and allow USB Mass Storage connection with my desktop.
Once we get the botloader unlock/custom recovery I do believe I can accomplish most of these
sent from my Atrix via XDA premium
Another rather specific feature I'd like to have is to deactivate the dock.
Sounds strange?
Well I'd like to deactivate the dock in order to use it only as the perfect stand for Prime. Together with those charging policies that could be kinda useful
Some of these I might be able to do for ya even though the bootloader is still locked, we can still mod this thing.

this may sound crazy but when I use Elixir2 to check out specs and details of the Prime, it tells me USB Mass Storage is already enabled on it. its a free app.
Oh and something really important: The ability to automatically switch between keyboards when you dock/undock the dock.
I need to use the ASUS software keyboard because of my german dock layout, but I don't want to use ASUS' keyboard when undocked....
one main thing would be re-enabling that developer overclocking mode to allow 1.5 or 1.6ghz overclock. Or even higher. Also since Tegra3 supports 3d display and sound, maybe making a virtual tab to enable it or turn it off and on when you want. Maybe add even more USB host capabilities/drivers. Once windows 8 comes out later this year on tegra3 chipset port it over to the Prime. Dual boot capabilities.
Sounds wonderful viperboy

Thats because the Prime is MTP. Essentially when you plug it in, you see the drives right away on your computer. It is different than phones.

First in my list is that dev mode overclock (described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431886). That would be amazing.
Allowing the microsd inerted message to be dismissed after its displayed would also be nice, as I usually leave my card in.

the link to it is right underneath your post. it was seen that that developers Prime had a mode called developer mode that enabled either 1.5 or 1.6Ghz. The OP of that article went to sine release party n saw it. he posted pix up of it also. The developer there said Tegra3 could easily be overclocked higher than 1 4Ghz. so it can even go higher than the dev. overclock.

Easily doable, just need kernel support
That may be not configurable
Doable
Never put SD in, so ill check on that hahaha, but any notification is ususal removable
Most likely no-go unless we create a custom app to remove the original lockscreen setting (which only allows one at a time). but it is doable
in the works
I wish I could use light sensor to turn on or off screen
Get rid of the sd card mount icon. It's so easy to hit accidentally.
Any chance of adding a Tun.ko module in the ROMs? I'd really want to use OpenVPN for securing my WiFi connections.
Yeah that pesky icon is so annoying same with the icon when docked!

This is absolutely annoying and hoping if there is a way to disable the double click function on Spen. Find when I writing notes my fat hands sometimes click the button on the Spen bring up the shortcut screen menu. Is it possible to disable this?
(edit: typo)
Any luck with this? I really like the tablet but I'm getting REALLY frustrated using the S-PEN because while I'm writing I inadvertently click the button and then a full page menu shows. Really wish I could disable this.
probably not the solution you're looking for, but I got around this by buying a different kind of spen that didn't have a button
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B077699C23/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I think to disable the button requires some rom or kernel level tweaks, so would need a DEV
Hi there,
I am using an app called trackpad on my poco f1 which is running on Miui 11 Global 11.0.6.0. This app is not so popular (i think). But it is an awesome app. After using it for a while now it changed how i use my phone. Basically what it does is, it brings up a cursor just like a mouse pointer on screen and we can move it around and tap anywhere on screen from the bottom part of the screen itself so we dont have to try and reach our fingers to the top. I was using this app on miui10. But when i updated my device to miui11 a weird issue is happening. There is a tracer to the cursor. This tracer is a temporary coloured trail that follows the cursor wherever it go (purely for aesthetics). But now when i dismiss the cursor this trail is not completely going away. It persists as a faded trail on screen. It goes away when the screen is switched off and turned back on. I tried to contact the devoloper and they are not replying and there is no app update till now. I know this may be an app related issue and probably not related to the device. I dont know if i can ask this here. But if anybody have any solution it will be really helpful as i cannot find any other good alternative for this lifesaver app.
I am attaching a screen recording. Thanks in advance.
The trail is from the app itself as I saw in the reviews. I'm the developer of Quick Cursor, an alternative to Reachability Cursor and Trackpad. You can try Quick Cursor and see if it suits your needs.

Usually the trail disappears after a second...there is an option for tweaking it too. But now it disappears but leaves a faded mark on the screen permanently until the screen is turned off.
Going to try Quick cursor
Thank you.

Hi.... i've been using your app for a while now...... its a solid app.... very good job..... trackpad can be completely replaced by quick cursor...... i've some suggestions as well.
1. Can you make the tracker more dynamic? What i meant is, as per now the distance between track pad and tracker is fixed. It would be good if the tracker can flow freely in the direction of movement. So that we can easily reach more area without lifting the finger much.
2. Because of the nature of the app, providing limited time trial with full features would be a great idea than providing free app with limited features. Because currently, the users trying out this new app have no idea about the full capability of the app like gesture control and customisable triggers and trigger area. It would be more appealing in my opinion. (Only my opinion ?)
Any way good job brother..... Keep up the good work. All the best for your effort.

Sorry for the delay in replying. What i meant is, using this app, while moving the cursor vertically upwards, the distance between tracker and cursor remains fixed. i have to lift my thumb all the way up to the middle of the screen to touch the tracker. I dont know any technical side of it, but what i am suggesting is when moving upward try to move the cursor 'more in distance' corresponding to the tracker so that the user can still use the tracker at the bottom of the screen itself. I hope you understand what i said. (Sorry for my bad English). I think trackpad had this feature if I remember correctly.
Thank you.
