Fortunately Three didn't do anyof that, nokia blue is still present.
Another route instead of flashing is to be a developer. This is how I got rid of T-Mobile Branding on my Omnia 7 by flashing the Mango Beta. I assume they will release a Tango Beta in the same way to developers and you'll be able to flash that to your phone and have a generic rom.

Thanks for the info, I still have the "Blue" theme unless there's 2 blue colors on the generic Lumis 800 ROM?

Yeah there's blue and Nokia Blue.
AFAIK there's room for 1 custom colour. Nokia have used that space for Nokia Blue but if networks want their colour on the phone the only option they have is to replace Nokia Blue, default colours can't be replaced and they can't add another one.
I suspect that Phoenix will do. At the moment there is no cracked Phoenix, which supports the RM-801, RM-803, RM-809, RM-819. You have to wait and see.
There's a Debranding app I think if you're chevron unlocked. Take a look at that.

There is a discussion in the Lumia Development section about Debranding. There is a version 5 of Nokia Care Suite which is supposed to allow flashing of Lumia but for some reason the software isn't allowing us to...

Nokia Care Suite is a poorer version of the Phoenix. I always used to use Phoenix to such things. It seems to me that the Nokia Care Suite, you can only upload the firmware for the phone Product Code. Otherwise, the program doesn't see the firmware.

Okay fair enough.
Is this version working? (Phoenix Service Software 2011.46.002.47246 Cracked & Original)
No. This version of the Phoenix still doesn't support Nokia Lumia 710/800. We have to wait until January or February and then to be Phoenix, which supports Lumia

So I have the UK version which is the 801, it clearly states 900/1900/2100 UMTS bands. Just wondering if I can get a known firmware version with 850 band support and flash it on the UK version i have. could it possible allow the 850 band to work? Seeing how I dont think nokia would opt to manufacture two different hardware version of the Lumia 800

I'm pretty sure they are literally different hardware models so no I don't think you could flash another type of firmware.

Just curious what is your reasoning for why you believe it's different hardware?

Hello everyone
I will probably buy a nokia lumia 800 in malaysia during my holidays and i would like to know when i will be back home ( in france) if i will able to upgrade the firmware of my nokia lumia with french version without brick the phone .
At the first time, i wanted to buy Samsung galaxy S2 but i have seen that there are some problem about firmware upgrade .
Thanks you :cyclops:
I bought mine in India and using it here in Germany. Even updated to Tango. I guess the update is device specific meaning mine is RM-801 tied to India. Irrespective of whichever part of the world you are only if the update is released for the country of mobile origin (in my case India) you can update
BTW i force updated my Lumia 800 to Tango using Zune

Hey everyone
I just received my Lumia 920 today. Phone is amazing!
it came with the cv-HK firmware (country varient Hong Kong?) since I ordered it through mobicity.com.au and they get their stock from Hong Kong :S
I have flashed the latest Australian stock ROM (cv-AU) and was wondering if I will receive updates in the future?

Who knows for sure.....but....I've done Navifirm flashes before and this has never prevented updates from taking place. I'm sure if it had, others might have posted this before. You should be ok....

I was pretty much wondering the same thing. I think my 920 is unbranded but I don't want to wait 'til Feb to get the updates so I was wondering about using Navifirm as soon as suitable firmware appears for my phone.
Does anyone out there know if this will mean I'll always have to manually update in the future or will I get notifications like everyone else on the firmware I install?
Thanks.
Edit: Turns out my phone isn't unbranded. Now I'm tempted to de-brand. If only game saves could be backed up.
I'm intrested too with this.
I bought my 920 in Italy and flashed using navifirm with the world fw unbranded. Now i'm in Brazil and not getting the update.....can't tell if because it's not available here or because i flashed.......any opinions?

I just realised, that when I had my Lumia 800, I flashed the unbranded aus ROM over the Telstra one, and I received updates straight away.
So, it shouldn't be an issue when an update is released.

Yeah Nokia have only released the new Portico update for certain carriers in certain markets so far. They also said it would be available across the globe in February 2013 (which I believe is an under-promise) and should be available around January sometime.
Trust me, if you have flashed a different region ROM, you will still receive the updates. I have flashed and re-flashed the crap out of my Lumia 800 and 900 last night and they both keep receiving updates. Lumia 920 will be no different. Once the update is available in the region of your ROM, the phone will get the update.
I shelled out £640 for a developer edition when the 920s were exclusive to EE in the UK. Now I'm considering selling it, and I would like to know if there's any chance of it being worth any more than a regular 920, maybe due to the true pentaband thing?
If not, I guess I'll have to settle with it or accept the 300 odd depreciation, haha.

Over at Canadagsm.ca I found under Nokia they're selling the unlocked pentaband Lumia 920 for C$399 which isn't bad at all compared to what eBay sellers are asking. What I can't find is what exactly defines the Developer Edition? I am aware it is subsidy unlocked, has all the varying carrier radios in it but is that it? Currently as of this typing I own a HD2 and two Titans which are HSPL and what I really, really enjoy about those phones is my use of the Windows Phone 7.x SDK's Application Deployment which allows me to install programs outside the Marketplace which include Homebrew and 3rd party apps. I find answers that go both ways on this DE and would like to have a more definitive answer in regards to whether it too accepts the Windows Phone 8 SDK's Application Deployment...I realize it might not accept Homebrew apps but do we know what those restrictions are; thanks!
I own a developer edition and never had any problems.

1. No, except if you want review with other Non-Nokia Windows Phone devices. Nokia has more OEM apps than HTC and Samsung. For an example Nokia Pro Camera, City Lens etc. But anyway there are alternative apps for other phones.
2. Only dependent from carrier and country from where you bought your phone. Some carrier phones doesn't receive updates (Branded Phones(Carrier review it.)) and second your country phone will receive update but later.
3. You couldn't change firmware to any other. First if you have branded phone, must debrand it. Nokia Service Center will do it for you. Next you can install later for your device specific unbranded firmware thats it. Nothing more. If you install wrong firmware on device, it will be brick. (Im talking about you can't install Nokia 920 RM-801 firmware on you Nokia Lumia 920 RM-902 for an example.)
Could you please answer this questions?
1-Which Firmware/ROM gets updates earlier.
2-Manualy D-branding possible or not?
3-Do you know any source that completely talk about how to do this stuff eg: Unlocking, D-branding, Hacking, etc...? (I do not care about warranty or what ever)
Thanks in advance...
No special ROMs which gets updates earlier. It is only just luck.
I dont think so.
You can unlock at your carrier provider. Debranding in Nokia Service center. Hacking what you mean? Install custom roms? No way. WP8 has secure boot.

He could be asking for customized ROM like I was able to have Nokia ROM on Samsung phone. Was kinda cool running Nokia Maps on Samsung device
Search for Here Drive in Marketplace.

You can flash an unbranded rom yourself with NCS.
To download any version of any ROM you can use navifirm+ which is a customized version of old navifirm.

there are "better" and worse firmware out there, as example Vofafone Germany cuts out the Data Sense features. and some others cut out the LTE. i use an "open" firmware which is only an country variant do its not branded the country variant is labeled by "CV" in navifirm+ or nokia care suite. and if you change your phone from lets say Lumia 920 (820) to the same lumia 920 (RM-820) firmver then you can not harm your device. but there are some out like lumia 920 (RM-821, RM-822, RM-867). But these RM i think are only geographical codes for USA, Europe, China... but there are differences to, in Chinese ROMs i think there are not all languages like in the European ROM. there are some missing. and all they work the same because nokia and microsoft build them. the difference is just how the "carrier" disables or modifies some values for their own needs. thats all.

It is best to take a firmware of your region/country.
It is also best to take a firmware unbranded.
What else ...
For camera quality, use portico.... Nokia broke the camera with amber and black
I am from Norway and got my Gear S as a gift at the Samsung Developer Conference. It was locked to AT&T. I unlocked mine using cellunlocker.net. I received the network lock code less than an hour after submitting the order and it worked like a charm.
However, here in Norway we have GSM 900/1800 and the AT&T device is only GSM 850/1900 from what I can find on the net. Which matches my end result of not being able to connect to my network even after unlocking.
I should probably have thought of this before spending 29USD on an unlock code, but anything less than Quad-band on a phone just seems so '90s. As I do not have a compatible Samsung Phone either, the device is pretty much useless for me without GSM. I have Sony Z1 Compact (great), iPhone 5s (meh), Lumia 920 and 1020 (great), so buying a new phone is not an option at the moment.
Is the GSM-bands controlled by firmware or are there hardware differences between the US and European versions?
Does anybody know if it could be possible to load a European FW and get GSM 900/1800?
I'm fairly sure that's hardware controlled. Sorry
I also wish these were quadband.
You could try to sell yours on Ebay.com (I see they are currently going above suggested retail price), and buy one in Europe. They are, however, a bit more expensive there, EURO 390 in Germany including tax, for instance, but they also don't have SIM lock there.
