check if there is a .noMedia file created in your root / sub folder/s where you have placed the music. System tends not to scan those folders where this file exists and hence skips them every time it scans for media.

I'm using same ROM and I can play without problems the music stored on the external SD card (32Gb). Check if the Media Scanner is getting the info of the music store there as the above user suggest. Also you can force it to rescan with a Market app or doing a copy/paste of any file in a file explorer inside the phone.
Also I have my music above the root of the SD card, don't know if that could also make the phone not to recognice it. In my case I have them in /sdcard/external_sd/Music/[Albums Names].

Hey Guys ..
I am playing around with my G-Tablet and for some reason I am unable to access and play/stream the music that I put on my External MicroSD card.
The only way I could listen to them is if I copy them to the folder called "sdcard/music".
I am currently running VEGAn-TAB ROM BETA 5.1. I tried the regular music program as well as Winamp .. and neither let me play the music straight off the micro sd card.
PLEASE HELP!
thank you in advance!
Strange, I have a similar problem in that music copied from a Flash drive to the sdcard/music folder will not be recognized by the Music App.
GL wit a solution
Make sure you do a reboot with Vegan-Tab after loading music. It won't show up otherwise. Also, if you added the .nomedia file to protect the data, it seems to prevent the tablet from scanning the SD Card.
Ok .. Im confused .. This is what I did ..
1) Copied my music to "SDCARD/MUSIC" folder .. unit had no problem playing the music.
2) After it was still on the external sd card under "SDCARD2/MUSIC" I removed the music that was copied from original internal memory (see #1) folder and then rebooted and music player or winamp would not read my music!
Ok - so basically my unit doesn't recognize the music from the external sd card! please help !!!
HMMMM .. wait .. I just rebooted again and for some reason its working now !! I think my G-Tablet is Possessed .. No matter, Im returning it to Woot anyway because I have a pixel out .. They are sending my new one Wednesday .. Hopefully I don't have this issue with the new one!
Thanks for the help!
I found that if you unmount the SD and then re-mount it the music won't show up until the tablet is rebooted and then it shows up again. I'm also useing Vegan 5.1.1 and that's what I've found. I also noticed that after mounting the SD card that the settings for performing this change to unmount in progress AFTER I have selected mount the sd, very odd
I put a 32GB microSD card in and although i can browse the files using es file explorer they do not show up in either the music player or the gallery app. I even installed playerpro and it still did not see the sd card. if i copy some of them to the internal storage they work fine but internal storage is not large enough.
The only thing I could suggest is to make sure your media card is formatted as FAT. Also, you can try separating them in subdirectories and see if that improves the reading (assuming they're all in one directory).
they are all in separate folders and the card is fat32 as that is required over 4gb
I fixed it. I backed up the card to a hd using a computer (by the way I go a consistent 10MB/s mounted as a drive) then I formatted it using the phones formatter and copied all of the music back and presto it worked.

i saw this post in the tmo forums..lol
I am not sure if this has been posted before but I have a galaxy S4 running Cyanogenmod 10.1. I have a scan disk 64gb card and the folder selector in Poweramp is showing /storage/sdcard1 but it does not have a tree to select a specific folder on the card, so I put my music folder directly in the root of the sd card but Poweramp won't find my music. I have selected the sd card with a check mark and rescanned with no luck. I have rebooted as well with no luck. Apollo and other music apps work fine but I want to use Poweramp.
Poweramp worked fine before I installed the ROM.
If this is a bug please let us know so we can wait for a fix, or is there something we can do to get it going?
Thanks,
Steve
FIXED!
I figures it out. You can use a 64gb card but it must be formated to Fat32. You can google how to do this on your windows pc.
Till Yesterday My SD card is detected by Gallery and Play music and From Today Onwards Gallery doesnt show anything that are in my sd card and shows the photos that are present in my Internal storage and google play music also doesnt show anything present in my sd card and when i play music from my sd card using ES file manager the music plays and photos are also showing..anyone knows how to solve the problem ??
if you have done these steps before plzz do them again
Power Off your Moto E
Remove the SD Card
Put it back again (ensure that its put correctly)
Switch your Moto E On
And... TADA!
Maybe a media scanner app would work just as well as rebooting. I don't own this phone but I have had the same thing happen on my HTC desire C so I downloaded an app called media scanner. All it does is rescans the sd card for music, videos photos etc then all my media showed back up.

Hello XDA.
This is my first time to come here and register, i heared that XDA is the best android developers website so i came here to request your help.
Lately i bought Lenovo Vibe S1 that comes with 2 Nano-Sim slots but if i'm going to insert a SD Card then there are 1 Nano-Sim slot.
I have a 4GB SD Card. I inserted it to the phone. The problem here that when i copy/move files to the SD Card it doesn't show in the apps. Like, moving Photos from internal storage to SD Card it doesn't appear in gallery. Same as songs, when i move them from internal storage to SD Card they doesn't show up in 3rd music player apps. Unless i unmount the SD Card from the settings and remount it. But it is a pain to unmount and remount when i move anything to the SD Card.
So, any help to fix this?
PS: I don't want to root, flash or install ROMs to my device.
Thank you for taking your time by reading my thread.
I started a Thread before but it was in the wrong section.
Brother what Android OS has your phone? If it is higher than 5.0 backup your files on the Sd Card and then format your Card in your Phone. After that put the files back on the Sd card. This worked for me on Android 5.1.1.

It is 5.0. Anyways, i will try your method and inform you if it worked. Thank you.
I did the method. It worked in Gallery while moving the photos from Internal Storage to SD Card it appears in gallery. But in ****ing music app it doesn't appear.
Which music app are you using? There is sometimes an issue with apps that don't use the sd-card an option called ".nomedia" filter or something like that is checked. Try to find it in your app and uncheck it. I hope that will work.

I use MusiXMatch. And i check my music in Google Play Music to check that it is not MusiXMatch's problem but the same thing. My music aren't in .nomedia. When i unmount the SD Card and mount it again i see the songs.
