Ballistic Galaxy Phone Case - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Hey guys
I have ordered a Ballistic phone case for my Galaxy S II. At first I was like this case is gonna suck. I work as a bouncer in a night club on the weekends and needed something that was gonna work and they were all out of the otterbox at the store I went too.
All I have to say is the case is amazing. After dropping it a few times and getting roughed up at the club the phone has survived without a scratch. I would recommend this case if you wanna check something out if otterbox is out of stock.

Sorry if my message is a lil strange I am on some major meds from being sick.

great protection. looks hideous.

I have one and love it. Actually looks pretty nice on the phone

they do look ugly. i bought the blue one and it doesnt look that bad. the bumpers on the side work amazingly well for something like it is.

I've got the blue... I stopped using it because it is way too bulky... And i don't wear skinny Jeans

I got a red and black one for my work phone. Don't really care about ugly but wanted to protect it. One thing I've been looking for is a case with a lanyard attachment of some kind. I ended up using a hot needle to poke all the way through both the red and black and fished regular lanyard type nylon through, attached that to a small clip that is between the phone and black. Voila!
Sure I may look like a dork with this hanging from my neck but I haven't lost, dropped or forgot my phone yet since.

Got mine yesterday and I love it. I often don't remember to pull it out of my cargo pocket before putting on my bunker gear. While I'm not worried about it getting wet because of the gear, I thought the phone looked quite a bit flimsy. Now, I don't worry about it. The screen stays next to my hip, and the shell protects the phone from flex.
+1 from me

Care to post some pics please?

Got mine in Black. I Love this case! Great protection (as good as otterbox)
The thing I like the most is the feel it gives the phone in my hand. Without the case, the phone feels too small and fragile.

Looks intense. I'm sure that's just as effective as any otterbox lol.

Is it bulky like the otter cases? That my biggest issue but the protection is what really matters..
Post pics please

It does look kinda big...

Had an otterbox on my captivate, the defender series, have the ballistic on my sg2. The protection is, if anything, better than the otterbox, but it is nearly as bulky.

I have a red and black one it is a bit bulky but I work in a warehouse was very hard concrete floors and heavy machinery and I A lot safer having this case on I think in some ways it is better than the otterbox

I had one of these (both models) for my infuse. It's actually a funny story. On my drive from San Diego to Montgomery we (my wife and I) stopped in Lubbock, TX. We (meaning she) decided new phones were necessary. I found 2 brand new in box infuses on craigslist and bought them (it was quite a feat to get to town late at night, find a hotel, get internet, get on craigslist, find 2 of the same phone, go buy them, go buy dinner, sleep for a couple hours, get back up, and drive to Alabama). Anyways, both were brand new and came with a ballistic case.
Yeah yeah, off topic but I had to tell somebody.
On topic, I like the ballistic case. It sure provides good protection. I'd like to try the trident aegis sometime though.

I just got one 2 weeks ago and it's a great fit, got the black/red.

I received one of these cases when I purchased my Galaxy S II about three weeks ago, and thought I'd do a quick review.
The case is definitely bulkier than the phone. I've found that to be a good thing overall, as it makes it easier to grip and makes the whole thing feel more solid.
The rubber is definitely high-quality. I've dropped my phone a couple of times, and it's been as happy as a lark. No complaints there. The corners are rounded outward and act as bumpers.
In addition, I used the rubber as a spot to grip the phone with my teeth when my hands were full trying to unlock my door earlier.
The holes for the camera, headphones etc are plenty large.
The button covers for the power/lock and volume buttons extend out quite a bit, which makes them easy to find and use. I haven't had too much of a problem with accidentally bumping them, even in my pocket where I routinely turn on any flashlight I happen to be carrying.

I have the Ballistic case and the otterbox commuter case, I find the commuter case to be the better one, looks much better, feels better in the hand, and looks like it should provide enough protection for my phone

Best case out there for I777, although a bit to big lol it's great protection for our phones.

Alternative to Otterbox (lint)

I recently got the Otterbox Commuter case for my SGS2 and like the fit and feel of it but the rubber attracts alot of lint and dust. It collects around the earpiece and front camera and around all the exposed rubber; it's annoying quite frankly.
Does anyone else have a recommendation for an alternative case. I like how the size isn't crazy thick but that it still gives me good protection. I am outside alot and have 2 young boys. I kind of considered the thicker Wrapsol skin as well, anyone used it? Any help would be great.
Try taking a look at the trident aegis, I have one for my Inspire and I don't get as much lint as I do with the otterbox commuter on my s2, though it does it still, I haven't noticed it anyway

hmm those look interesting, have you tried them?
I may have to try out an Aegis, I do like how it doesn't have the part covering the top front of the screen like the Otterbox; I see where they were coming from but I've considered trimming it off. I've been dealing with the lint and such lately, I don't like it but maybe I can convince the wifey to let me try the Trident one out
aside from the lint on the aegis, how does it grip the inside of your pocket when you take it out? is it really grippy like the otterbox is?

Has the one with stand, little bulky but does seem protect the phone well.
I had the Otterbox on my cappy and liked it ok but didn't realy want to spend that much again when I know I will be upgrading every year or so. I did some searching here on XDA when I got the SGS2 and found a link to "Acase" on Amazon. I have no complaints and it was under $10.00 when on sale.

Just finished searching for the Acase on Amazon and I get nothing but iPhone results. Added the SG2 in the search and it returns nothing but battery stuff or some ballistic style case that is just gawd awful.
Would you mind sending or posting a link, I have been looking for a light case for my Sg2 but cannot find anything that I like that will keep it close to its original thinness - dont want to bulk it up by adding a thick case
Thanks in advance

It doesn't, but you can't tell
If he can tell there is no cut out just by looking at some pics, I'm sure staring at your phone w/ this case on it will be very much noticeable.

+1 for the Aegis, I have been using for about 10 days, love it! It does collect some lint in my pocket, and since I am a landscaper, some grass too! Not a big deal to just rinse it off and let air dry and put back on. The reason I went with the Aegis, is because it has a screen over the speaker phone, unlike the otter box, I did just order the otter box to compare, Ill let you know, but now I am looking at the Acase. The screen protector that comes with the Aegis is pretty weak though, not sure what to do about that, I hate the orange peel, Invisashield.
-nevermind the Acase, doesn't cover port and plugs a must have for me!
You are right no covers for phone jack or usb and the mic hole is off a bit but I just made a new hole with a drill bit. works great

I would have a switcheasy case on my S2 if they made them. I've had a neotouch case on my itouch since the day I got it and the thing looks almost new when I pull the case off. Super-awesome.

I bought a red one from ebay for 8.99. The plastic fishbone is smooth but the rubber inside is kind of thin. But together they work pretty good. I also bought the HTC versions for my husband and son.
Got one of these last month. great case, easy to hold. I got blue hoping it would go good with the ICS theme I am using. It looks great.
been debating on one, how much thicker and heavier did it make the phone.
thanks
Looks nice. Thanks for sharing.
It does give a little weight too the phone, but it makes it feel sturdier. With the case on my phone, it is about .250" thick. It protects the camera lens nicely. I have attached some photos of what it looks like on the phone and off. Hope it helps.
Are they as solid as an otterbox? I have the commuter right now and I'm real happy with it but I could go for some color
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA App
No, I don't think so. They are more protective than a TPC case but not an Otterbox.
The problem I have with this kind of cases is all of the lint that attaches to them. I wish they could make these with coated silicone or tpu instead. Lint makes it look terrible.
EBay search link? Case looks cool. I got a tpu and the sgp Neo hybrid. My sgp silicone backing has stared to sag due to gaming >44°c I figured if it gets bad I can turn it into Neo hybrid ex. Haha.

[Q] Pocketability

So, after a weekend or so with the device, what do you guys think of its pocketability? I really want to get the Note, but I'm worried after putting a good protective case on it like the Seidio Active that it will not be very fun to put in my pocket. That would be a deal breaker for me. I just played with one at AT&T and it just kills my Aria.
I wear nothing but carhartt work pants and I have zero issues. This phone is the perfect size for me. I see no issues with a case unless you use a rubber one. It will stick to your pocket.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk
I have a minimalist case and have no issues with pocketability. No problem with one-handed use, either, and I'm average height (5' 11") with equally average hands.
Can't say how it would fair with a bulk protective case, but I've never liked bulky protective cases. That's what insurance is for. Why spend $60 on a bulky case when you can get two years of insurance for $99 from Ensquared.
It fits in my hand well it fits in my pocket well. I'm a small person. The phone is great. Not too big actually
Sent from my SGH-I717M using xda premium

Fits just fine in my slim fit Levi's...a little big for one handed use but that doesn't bother me
I'm coming from a Dell Streak with an Otterbox Commuter case, no issues here
I have no case, but it feels fine in pocket. Im coming from Skyrocket. I love this phone.
Humans were made to adapt, this is no excuse. But in all seriousness, youll be surprised how quivckly youll get used to it. Heres hoping we can be note brohers!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA App
I had a Skyrocket also and the Note really hasn't been much different in my pocket or in general usage. I have even made a few calls to my ear and I never thought the phone was too big. I even use the Speck Candyshell case, which is fairly sizable. However, I can understand people with small hands having issues.

Seriously. . . My iphone already feels and looks like a joke. Every LCD screen i look at now seems like its from the stone age.
Reminds a bit of Stone Brewing Co's Ruination IPA. There's a blurb on the bottle about how it will ruin your palate for other beers. That's what this phone has done: ruined my palate for other phones.
I'm a small 5'5 guy that occasionally wear skinny jeans. My suit pants is also skinny.
ZERO problems whatsoever. I think a lot of people really exaggerate on how the big phone is assuming that it will not fit the pocket.
Yes it is BIG .. but it fits the pockets perfectly.
My only problem is using it with one hand.
Since picking my phone up at BB yesterday at noon, I haven't stopped playing with it long enough to see how pocketable it is.
I have an aluminum bumper on mine and it fits in my jeans, cargo pants, sweat pants, dress shirt pocket, basketball shorts pockets, and pretty much everything in my wardrobe. I'm an average size person, but i got big hands.
And i had an aria too. This is ten times better.
Thanks guys, or gals. Hand size isn't the issue. In fact that's why I want to get the Note, it will be perfect for my hands. I just didn't want to have issues with portability since it will be a phone for me. The tablet aspect is just a bonus.
6'2" - i forgot the phone was in my pocket... used to my evo with 3500mah battery being in there... this is lighter and thinner...

Samsung OEM flip case.... Thoughts?

So I'm looking at the flip case made by Samsung and noticed the back cover is substantially thicker than the one that comes on the phone. It also looks like you could snip off the flap that covers the screen. I know, kinda defeats the purpose but at very minimum, you'll have better protection on the back....
Anyone actually like this case as is? I find it cumbersome for most situations and only see its value for covering the face while in a pocket. I'm thinking to chop the front off and use it just for the back.
Bring on the OtterBox!
As a side Note, the flip case back is also textured and does provide a grippier feel.

Returning mine
I bought mine at the AT&T store. The back of the case is the best part, it is superior to the provided battery backing supplied with the phone.
I feel like the flip cover can get in the way of certain actions, particularly talking photos. It makes holding the phone feel a little unnatural whether you leave the flip cover open to the side or folded against the back. For those two reasons I've gone back to the standard battery back and will be exchanging it for another case or a refund.

I've noticed the same while using mine, especially while taking pictures. I originally purchased one from at&t but have since returned it due to Best Buy giving me one for purchasing the device from them ( saved me $50). This is definitely a temporary case until new cases become available.

Man I went to Best Buy to check this case out and for $30 bucs its about the biggest POS for a case I have seen..
Theres ZERO protection on any of the sides..I'm not even sure how it provides any protection at all really..

Yep... this.
I like the way the brown one looks ont he white but the front is pretty flimsy and they didn't put too much thought into the overall design. The fact that it replaces the back was a nice thought and helped keep the thickness down opposed to a lot of the journal/folio cases you see on Amazon though.
I'll still probably end up replacing it with one of the aluminum bumpers that looks really nice and offer some more protection.

The edge of the flipcover came apart on me today. it is peeling open. the edges are just heat sealed material around a thin plastic slab. have been using since launch day. i have Best Buy's GSBTP so if i drop it and it breaks, i'll just get another Note - so i am not too worried about the protection factor from drops. i like the idea of the flip cover, however it does get in the way of the camera and can make using the camera awkward.
i think the lines / grooves that show in a zagg shield would bug me...
hopefully i will find something i like...

Ok, I worded that really weird. When I work out, it's unavoidable to sweat, so using my Infuse, I would always have to wipe it down after I talked on it. Yeah, it sucked. But I would rather wipe it off of this, than my screen.
Is this the same one???
I got it for $9 and it protects the corners of the Note. Little flimsy but I thought it was worth the cost and am still using it after 4 days.

Found a tough case at a great price

Got this case off of EBay delivered for $32. It's called a PEPKOO ULTIMATE. I think Love Me and possibly another company makes some almost identical. They are aluminum with Gorilla glass screen protector, screws together instead of snaps like an Otterbox and doesn't get all the dirt and trash around the sides of the screen. I've been using mine for a month now and thought I would share my review of it. It's tough, cool looking and I have no complaints. Don't forget it was $32.
uhm, good!
From the reviews I have seen, the S-Pen is Damn near impossible to take out, and the sound is horribly muffled.

You could have gotten it cheaper too on Ebay. It's the same case as the Love MEI series. Those are $23 on ebay.
Also your cell reception just took a dive by half because of the aluminum. I only use mine when I go snowboarding. The extra weight adds to my balance, lol.
I saw after I ordered it about the s-pen complaints and I don't have any trouble. I'm always somewhere the signal is great so that hadn't been an issue. I would have loved the even cheaper priced one but compared to an otterbox, This case is king. I've had an otterbox for every phone I've had in the last 6 years, starting with a blackberry and had to constantly take it apart and clean dirt and dust out of it. I never have to do that with this one. I stand firm and recommend this case or an identical copy over otterbox any day. If I paid $ 40 I would still be satisfied.

Yeah I definitely recommend it to anyone who can put up with those things. I like the comments I get when I whip it out(no pun intended). People always ask in amazement if it's a phone and what phone it is. Then again I have the original model so it's even bigger than the new slimmer ones which I might get soon.

I just have a question, where exactly did you see this for so cheap? The only link I can find on Amazon is for $69:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00HFMUVG4/ref=dp_olp_new_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=new
I got it off of eBay. I work in the oilfields of West Texas and we have some rough weather, especially dust storms. With the otterbox I was having to take it apart every couple of days to clean the dirt and dust that would make its way inside it. Then the abrasive dust rubbing against the plastic screen protector would have it scratched up in a mater of a month or so. I haven't had to take this case apart yet to clean it and that dust isn't going to hurt the Gorilla glass. I put a couple screen shots of the add on eBay so you could see the seller and the product.
It's awesome

Got this case off of Amazon delivered for $32.

Nice yeah like It .
I'm sure it's a great case if your going to throw it down a mountain, but in my opinion it's way too bulky.
Bulk
If bulk is an issue, then I would suggest an Iphone, I think they still small enough to fit in a matchbox. But all jokes aside, it still easily fits in my back pocket and as I stated before, I need my phone protected from the elements. I never said this case would suit everyone but if you wanted a case that was built for hard core protection, I recommend this one. I have now had it for two months and I hope I can always get one to fit future phones.
How heavy is this? Do you have issues with sound? Have you waterproof tesed the case and how did it do?
Same here,
If a case makes my devices useless, well then it's useless. I can see the draw to a waterproof solution as I hit the lake often during the summer months and don't do much out there other than check things on the screen from time to time. But for that there are cheaper solutions, none of which I trust completely anyhow.
Lets hope that they up the IP rating on the note 4.

LoL this in is not the waterproof version. Its the water resistant version. Love Mei adds some water proofing in there. There is a difference this one, Lunatak's and Love Mei's. I think they all have the same base manufacture. My Dad has the Lunatak's case for the iphone, his signal doesnt take a hit, also it makes the phone feel like a brick. AND I really mean a brick.
You guys want real waterproof head over to the red pepper note 3 thread.

I had purchased a similar metal case for my Note 3 from Love Mei. It looks cool but I dont like it.
1. I made my phone to look big, almost the size of Tab 7.0.
2. Its non ergonomic for long time use, you'll not be comfortable holding it while text messaging.
3. Not to forget that it adds weight extreme weight to your phone. Trust me, you can't answer calls for more than 20 minutes due to its weight.
4. Since its a water proof version, the sound ports and receiver speakers are covered with thin membrane of some material (sort of rubber or plastic). Thats make the sound to be scatered and unclear
5. The glass protector will have the rainbow effect on screen when it touches the phone screen.
These points are based from my experience. I sold my case to another guy.
Currently Im with Trident Kraken AMS, and I love it to the max. It saved my phone without single scratches falling from the height arnd 6 feet.
