I'm searching and searching Android market for a program that can backup my files from selected directories to my USB flash drive. Has anyone discovered a program that has this functionality?
Yes... its called a PC.....
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
If I can get this to work I won't need a PC anymore. That's where I'm coming from with this.
A file manager seems to be the most obvious idea.
Sounds a bit manual to me. I want to select the directories/files just once and get it to backup those directories/files on demand.
rsync backup for Android
Anyone worked out how to set it up?

So you asked for an application with a very specific function, now you found it, and cant figure out how to use it? Come on...

I know, I don't know how to use it. That's why I asked. Your reply did not fill in the blanks and just made the string 1 message longer that people now have to read through and take up more time from their day.
Has anyone had any luck configuring rsync?

thanks dude, this is a sweet way to sync when im doing stuff around the house
When I tried it, it constantly locked up my machine and don't dare try to touch the app at all while its syncing on your PC. Freeze City.
i had no issues with install or sync, your computer might need a nap
Do you guys know where it saves your files to? I cant find them on my PC anywhere...

Sorry, didn't see the link. I need something that saya "Click here"
Looks so cool!
doesn't look like it has Linux or Mac support.
I have tried Kies Air and Android Manager but they don't work.
My wireless ip that the apps say I should register is 192.168.2.14, but when I do an ipconfig, only 192.168.2.13 shows up. I can't ping 192.168.2.14.
I've tried reinstalling my wireless card drivers and resetting my computer.
Does anyone have a USB-based solution?
Okay so I'm trying to get an app to autorun whenever my phone boots. More specifically the app "Screen Filter".
So far I've found the app "autostart.apk" that claims it will autorun the file /data/opt/autostart.sh
Basically I'm asking how do I make this autostart.sh file and place it in that directory?
If it helps, here is the 'receiver' info about Screen Filter
- com.haxor.ScreenFilterWidget
--> android.appwidget.action.APPWIDGET_UPDATE
--> com.haxor.ScreenFilter.ACTION_FILTER_TOGGLED
- com.haxor.LocaleReceiver
--> com.twofortyfouram.locale.intent.action.FIRE_SETTING
Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I believe you would have to edit the AndroidManifest.xml for the app and use the BOOT_COMPLETED intent.
I'm not sure if there's an easier way to autorun apps after booting.
Are you able to guide me to the details on this? I understand what you're saying I just am clueless on how and what to do
I've never done it before. However, you might want to try this link as a guide:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1056570/how-to-autostart-an-android-application
Wow that is thoroughly confusing. Where do I get these files that I need to edit? I am rooted by the way

Oh wait. The example I linked to earlier is more development-level information. To use that with an existing application, you'd have to decompile, edit, and then rebuild, sign, blah, blah.... Sorry about that.
Not too sure on how to use 'Autostart (Root),' though. If I can figure it out later, I'll add to this thread.
Have you tried emailing the creator of 'Screen Filter' (https://profiles.google.com/bslatkin/about) to see if maybe he'd consider adding a launch-on-boot option to his app? It appears he works at Google, and the app is small, so he might be persuaded to do a quick update.
I have been using Tasker for over a year now on my Atrix and would love to load it on my touchpad, but it appears it is not suppported according to the Android Market. Has anyone gotten it to install? Is this just a matter of the Market or the app creator not being caught up with the dev done on the touchpad?
Maybe copy your tasker apk form your Atrix, than use it on TP?

Sounds almost too easy, if I could only find it on my phone I would... Anyone know there it would be stored by default when downloaded from the Market?

You can use an app called bluetooth file transfer. Once paired theres an option to send apps from your phone to the touchpad. It works great...

/data/app/
You can just email it to yourself and install from the attachment.
If you can't find it that way, you can download app monster, and manually make a backup of Tasker, then navigate to app monster folder and email it from there. This is what I do when apps dont show in the market. Hell, Im bored ill try right now.
and yes Tasker works beautifully.

It shows up in the Market from my TouchPad for me. I've had it installed since the first day I switched over to CM7, but I haven't really done much with it, except to verify that it does recognize events and execute tasks.
So I tried coping it from my phone, but when I ran the apk it wouldn't install on the touchpad. In the market my device is greyed out unfortunatly, I am using MIUI... Guess I will have to try the backup route
Maybe a MIUI vs CM issue?
(Before anyone starts shouting at me I have used the search!)
I have managed to accidentally delete my camera folder and another folder from the gallery whilst trying to delete just two images.
I thought it would be pretty straight forward but I've ended with an app called DiskDigger that seems to be taking ages to scan.
Can anyone recommend a different/better way to get the folders back please?
If they were on the external sdcard, you may be lucky. You can remove the sd, plug into a computer and use pc software to scan. I have a free one I can link you too. However you'd be very lucky to get the data back.
These android apps are crappy IMHO. If it was on internal sd, you're stuffed (sorry).
Lessons learned though. Use dropbox to auto upload pics, or foldersync to backup all folders to cloud or a computer at home that's always on.
I've answered this a lot so I'm surprised it didn't turn up in search.
Please ask questions in Q&A

so here's a google search for your thread title:
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Need+to+recover+deleted+folders+android
with all the solutions.
And there's a help section for help
Search for "recover deleted files" came up with 3 out of 5 results even on tapatalk but only when initiated from The Q&A section.
Just goes to show how much difference understanding the forum layout makes

Dude I don't know if you are genuinely trying to be helpful or maybe I needed to more specific. The fact you offered me a 'lesson' in how to do a google search makes me lean toward the latter.
I had already done my search on google thank you before asking the question here.
yes, be more specific. what do you need? you asked for a tool for data recovery, that search brings up like a dozen of them

Maybe, just maybe he is asking for this one, or should he be googling "rootSU's free file recovery tool he said he could link me to, but Glebun, who is unable to read told me to google it"
Because that came up with nothing, here see for yourself http://bit.ly/ZVQQCx
so why are the ones from googling not good enough? you really lack logic
i did a search and someone asked this about 2 years ago, and the answer was that its not possible. But maybe there is a way now.
Im wanting to install 2 instances of the same APK
The app is: Star Wars Force Collection
Reason im wanting to do this: Once you install the app and login to your account, theres no way to change accounts without uninstalling / reinstalling and logging into new account.
Looking for a way around this. I have a rooted Nexus 5.
Thanks for any help

Clear data will help
Or get multiple profiles (by custom rom or app)
Press thanks :good: if I've helped :highfive:

ive seen an app that does multiple profiles but after reading reviews its not that safe and can corrupt your main profile / or prevent you getting back to it.
Still looking for a solution here, must be possible

you could unpack the apk and rename the package name... I'm not sure how to do this as I'm no Recognised Themer, but if you did get an RT to help you then I'm sure you could install the same app twice if Android thought it was a different apk when it isn't, unless it'd bugger it up by having the same app loaded in ram at once. I'm no expert but this is the only way I can see of doing it.

Sorry to bump such an olf post but im looking for the same reason as op. Running multiple instances of the same app would make life much easier. Im running lollipop so all the guides iv read thus far havnt had any success. Can anyone help?
I would like to only run 1 instance of the same app ,different versions though
Sure, this is possible via Lucky Patcher (I know, we don't love Lucky Patcher here). You can use the clone app option. I'm not sure how they do it. They change the last digit of the package name, I don't know if they change anything else. If it needs to be different versions, I don't know how.
