[possible mod] Android - Adding Bluetooth profile - HTC EVO 3D

Right now I have been reading up on talk about future integration of a HID profile that would allow for HID devices like keyboards, mice, game controllers ect to connect to android.
I have found a possible source that makes it seem possible to integrate into the roms. If cyanogenmod can integrate this into their rom, why wouldn't it be possible with the current roms.
I for the most part understand what needs to done and what is involved but with no knowledge on how to go about doing it.
Can this be done?....

HTC Response: Sense and Bluetooth?

Got the following response from HTC when I emailed them about bluetoothe devices that wouldn't connect (Wiimote).
"We certainly understand wanting to make sure you make the most of the device bluetooth functions. Unfortunately, we have no information regarding possible bluetooth updates for devices at this time. Also, the Bluetooth stack is only part of the equation when checking for compatibility. The other option you will need to look into is the bluetooth profile. The reason many bluetooth keyboards actually do not work our Android phones, for example, is the fact that Google did not include the HID (Human Interface Device) profile in the programming. Which bluetooth stack you have is also more determined by the operating system then the Sense interface itself. We apologize for the inconvenience and will document your concerns. Feel free to contact us again should you have any further questions. If you feel more comfortable discussing issues by phone, you can contact Technical Support at 1-866-449-8358, 6 am to 1 am EST, 7 days a week."
Does that make sense to anyone?

[Q] Help developing a simple Java Android App

Hey everyone, my name is Ian. I'm kind of new here, at least in a participatory role as wiki master of the Photon 4g's Sunfire dev team/collaboration. I have some talent in the world of web coding, but I'm useless at real programming.
I also have a rather nasty addiction to the world of flight simming, mostly as stand in for real flight time that I'm trying to orchestrate as I work towards a private pilot's license. Anyways, my program I use for flight simulation is X-plane and lacks in 3rd party applications that it can interface with, especially on the Android side. I would like to help to put together an Android app that can work with the sim and control basic functions. My current goal is to control radio systems and autopilot functions. To interface with the sim, I plan to use the Simulator Control System which is based on the CAN Aerospace protocol. This is cross sim application, so whatever works with X-plane will also work with Microsoft flight sim. I've been looking at the website, http://cross-simulator.com/, and I think that this seems like a fairly easy task. All the functions and commands are well documented and supported (there is even an example android code), I just don't know how to start. If anyone in this great community has some advice, I'd love to hear it because I really have no clue.
Thanks, and happy dev'ing
I would just download the example, import it in Eclipse and run it on the Android emulator (assuming you have downloaded and installed the Android SDK). Later, you can tweak the example code as you become more comfortable.

Official MotoDev plugins / resources, other sbf utilities etc

Hello. I've been following many threads here for some time now but only recently have been able to register due to my cell only connection. (thanks dishtv sat + biquad receiver mod for the 5+ mile wifi connection )
I was just wondering if anyone needed any of the official plugins for all the motorola devices.
These AVD's allow hardware emulation through the android sdk. Using these would help test out roms without actually installing them to the phone. I've also found some sbf extractors / decoders etc.
I am not sure if anyone is using these or if they are deprecated based on what the community is currently using.
Here is a list of tools that may be of use that I can upload.. or whatever depending on the feedback i get from this thread.
MOTODEV Studio
-Motorola's integrated development environment, based on Eclipse, offers unsurpassed workflow ease for creating Android applications.
Android Technical Library
-Resources include api doccumentation to the LTE network/bluetooth/event management/etc documentation.
PHOTON™ SDK Add-on: For handset emulation.
-Android virtual device.
and many others.. all of these resources can be found by registering at developer dot motorola dot com but if there is a need or interest maybe we could start a thread that lists all of these tools with download links.
There is also a Motorola SBF unpacker/decoder that was fairly interesting..
So.. uh.. would anyone find any of these useful? I can't post in the dev threads yet being so new so.. yeah.
Id be untreated in the sbf unpacker if its different than those available now

The App Breakdown
Faceniff
FaceNiff is an Android app that allows you to sniff and intercept web session profiles over the WiFi that your mobile is connected to.
It is possible to hijack sessions only when WiFi is not using EAP, but it should work over any private networks (Open/WEP/WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK)
It's kind of like Firesheep for android. Maybe a bit easier to use (and it works on WPA2!).
Anti
ZImperium LTD is proud to annonce Android Network Toolkit - Anti.
Anti consists of 2 parts: The Anti version itself and extendable plugins. Upcoming updates will add functionality, plugins or vulnerabilities/exploits to Anti[
Using Anti is very intuitive - on each run, Anti will map your network, scan for active devices and vulnerabilities, and will display the information accordingly: Green led signals an 'Active device', Yellow led signals "Available ports", and Red led signals "Vulnerability found". Also, each device will have an icon representing the type of the device. When finished scanning, Anti will produce an automatic report specifying which vulnerabilities you have or bad practices used, and how to fix each one of them.
Droidsniff
little brother of DroidSheep
Droidsheep
is an Android app for Security analysis in wireless networks and capturing facebook, twitter, linkedin and other accounts.
fling
???
UsbClever
takes google chrom passwords
WiFi kill
Well, with this app you can disable internet connection for a device on the same network. So if someone (anyone) is abusing the internet wasting precious bandwidth for a Justin Bieber videoclips you could just kill their connection and stay happy with a full bandwidth just for yourself.
NetSpoof
Network Spoofer lets you change websites on other people’s computers – from your phone
Droid Sheep Guard
DroidSheep Guard runs silently and monitores your phones ARP-Table. As long as everything looks normal, it will be invisible. But in case it detects suspicious entries in your phones ARP-Table, it will pop up and warn you. If you want, the WiFi connection is disabled immediately to protect your accounts.
EvilOperator
Prank call
Shark App Pack (shark & shark reader)
Shark
Traffic sniffer, works on 3G and WiFi (works on FroYo tethered mode too).
To open dump use WireShark or similar software, for preview dump on phone use Shark Reader.
Shark reader
Application for reading pcap files
SMS Combo
The SMS Combo allows you to send a simple SMS by touching a single button. This is a lightweight and simple application. You can send multiple SMS by touching the button many times in a row.
It’s very useful for voting to support your favorite candidate with multiple SMS!
WARNING: This is not a SMS bomber or flooder, so don’t comment anything about that.
SMS Retaliator
How many of us receive lots of unwanted messages on a daily basis? With the “SMS Retaliator”, you get to have unique features unlike any other app. This “SMS Retaliator” is a one of a kind Android application that is well tested and easy to make use of for the end user. It does following items:
SMS Block List – This is the first feature, from your smartphone, this feature is going to help you block the unknown/unwanted message sender. All you need to do is update the number in your contact list, and then click on the “SMS Retaliator”. Update the “SMS Retaliator” and you will no longer receive a single message from that particular number. Once you block this person the messages sent by them will not be displayed in your smartphone anymore. These messages will be hidden from your view, as long as you don’t deactivate the contact from the list. Every time you activate or deactivate a contact, you will need to select the “SMS block” button to confirm. Usually in such applications you will be able to block all the messages or bar all the calls, with the “SMS Retaliator”, you get to personally select and blacklist each number.
Reciprocate SMS – This is the second feature, with the “SMS Retaliator”, you can send to either loved one or bothering one with the same message as many times as you want and at any time interval you want. All you need to do is select the “Reciprocate SMS” button, and you are good to go. If you want to play a harmless prank or give the person bothering you a taste of their own medicine, you can make use of this feature.
This application is simple and easy to download from the Android market and effortless to set up. The application is fully secure and all the messages sent are done so only after your personal consent. The application is very fast to use, and is completely trustworthy. There is not a single number that will be blocked on its own, so you can rest assured that you will be blacklisting only those messages that you don’t want to view. Once you install and set up the “SMS Retaliator”, you will realize how effortless the entire process is. Our future versions have a ton of other fantastic features that are sure to make your life problem free, so make sure you keep an eye out for them as well. (The cost of sms depends on your service provider)

22.Spy kit universal mailer
One mail to spoof them all!
A tool you can use to send e-mails from any address in the world. And sometimes get back an answer.
This is what your briefing for today will be about, agent.
As you know, e-mail communication has become an intrinsic part of modern life. It is present in the lives of all, from teenagers to presidents. As such, it can be a very powerful tool in the hands of a capable agent.
Therefore, I would like to introduce you to an important tool of your Spy Kit - the Universal Mailer.
There are similar civilian tools called Fake E-mail, Fake Mailer, Fake Mail, Anonymous E-mail, Anonymous Mail, False Mail, and others. These emulate some of the functions of the Universal Mailer. However, the Agency cannot guarantee their success rate.
With this tool, you can take the e-mail identity of whoever you want, or simply make a new one up. For example you can send someone a mail from Rovio, asking them to help in making the next Angry Birds, or from Tony Stark, asking for some upgrade ideas for the Iron Man suite.
After choosing your sender identity, you can use the rest of the tool as a normal e-mail application. It even has conveniences such as Cc and Bcc, as well as a contact list which automatically stores any new addresses you enter. It's quick, easy, and convenient, and may just be the thing to turn your mission into a successful one.
The tool also has a powerful function called Reply To, which allows you to get responses for the sent e-mail. Basically, it sets a return path for any replies. However it is a tricky function to use, that can sometimes create more problems than solutions, so be sure to read more about it by touching the switch in the Reply To field.
When you start up with the Universal Mailer, your e-mails are limited to 10 per day, in order to prevent misuse. However, as you use the tool, you will level up, and your limit will rise more and more.
This completes the briefing on the Universal Mailer, agent. I would like to add just one more thing. You are solely responsible for the use of this tool, however, always take the time to consider the possible negative consequences of every e-mail you send. And make sure not to use it for negative motives since you will surely be discovered and caught.
Dissmissed!

Unrestricted Touchpad Support [Tutorial / Source / Apps]

Now that framework modifications are no longer working in newer Android versions, a lot of the research I have over the past few months may be of use in maintaining touchpad support.
The Sony example apps use NativeActivity and the event ID from the native side separates the event (since touchscreen events use the same handler). The trick for an app dev getting it to work was just a matter of returning a false motion event to Java and handling the input natively with a second interface set up for touchpad events. This did not change in later versions of Android. The only real change was the key layouts. In later versions of Android, they added a separate key layout for the gamepad instead of appending the default one. That is why the circle button is no longer alt + back. Instead, you have to check the device name for zeus-gamepad and then handle it as the standard back KeyCode.
You can see the code to handle touchpads in a standalone library I put together to add to reicast. This library is built independent of the emulator and allows handling the touchpads through a secondary NativeActivity that has the methods OnNativeMotion and OnNativeKeyPress handling input identified as coming from an Xperia Play.
https://github.com/reicast/reicast-emulator/blob/master/shell/android/jni/src/XperiaPlay.c
The touchpads no longer dispatch a TouchEvent because a TouchEvent was the catch all for touchscreen, touchpad, mouse interaction. When GenericMotionEvent was added, it allowed better classification of touch and move without all the extra checks and conditions.
Trying to find a workaround from the user end instead of getting the developers to use the proper code is why older apps end up broken in newer versions of Android. A lot of the developers have since moved on to other things and left the app with the hack code. Now that it is no longer possible, it may be too late to get an update with the code that works.
GameKeyboard uses the touchpad support methods and acts as a middleman to convert the interaction into something the app can handle using standard methods. A system modification would be something like that merged with something like tasker to detect when the gamepad was opened. Until that modification exists, GameKeyboard and Tasker are a fully-functional alternative.

hi,thank you for starting this thread, it's nice to se that someone is still interested in the xplay, it's still perfect for my use. i do heavy retrogaming with retroarch, plus all the new game, the walking dead, gta sa nova modern combat ecc. i'm on super jelly bean 8 with lupus 13, oc to1.4ghz for gaming with the touchpad fix,and touch pads lag as hell and make any game unplayable..
unfortunately i'm not a developer, but i will be testing of corse if you need..
This isn't really one of the threads where there will be a build or mod to download and then post error reports about. This is one of those threads (like xda used to be flooded with) meant to show people how to do things so they can add them to something or gather all the parts and build something else. It's source, instructions, and good ol' fashioned information. It's a little late, but it's all the stuff that should have been here when the games were being developed to prevent the support situation currently being faced.
