[Q] Rooted cm7 Not Recieving Calls!!! - HTC Aria Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Rooted my aria a week or so ago and have been enjoying the possibilities and freedoms!
A couple days ago, my phone stopped receiving calls. Someone please help me! I've looked all over at threads involving the same damn issue to no avail. Seems as if noone has a solution.

The first thing I'd try is to put your SIM card into another phone to see if you are able to receive calls. It could be an issue on the carrier's end.
If the SIM card is working fine, you can try taking a Nandroid backup and then doing a clean install of CM7, then rebooting. (Make sure to do wipe data/factory reset, format /system, and wipe dalvik cache before installing to make sure it's a completely clean install.) If the phone can receive calls after a clean install, then there's something in your software/settings that is causing it to not work. That can give you an idea where to start looking for problems (or you might consider just continuing with the clean install instead of trying to figure out what was wrong with the old install).
If the phone cannot receive calls after a clean install, it might be a hardware problem. At that stage I'd try reverting back to the original Android 2.2.2 ROM (unrooted) to see if it works with that.
Good luck.

Okay I did these steps but I installed a backup that I made earlier today. There is still no sign of phone receiving calls other than voicemail. I didn't put sdcard in another phone, I'm sure that's not the issue since I can make calls and send, receive texts. I'm guessing that I will have to erase all my apps and reinstall them one by one. Does anyone know of any apps that interfere with calling? I've already uninstalled Skype.

You mean SIM card, right?

Yes sim card is what I meant

I had this problem a while back. It seems to be AT&T's network in my case though. It rarely happens any more, but still happens from time to time. Try flashing another nightly. If that doesn't work, clean the contacts on the back cover at the bottom with a q tip and iso alcohol.

[Q] Phone Not Receiving Text Messages

Hi,
I have been having a recurring problem where my phone will not receive text messages and then randomly after maybe two weeks will receive them all in one go and then work for a little while and stop receiving them again.
I am running the latest official 2.1 release rooted and de branded with JIT enabled. This was also happening on my original 1.6 software and worked for over a month when I upgraded.
I called my provider (3) and they recommend a software reset which works however I don't want to keep doing this. Is there a way to reset the network settings or something or does anyone know a way to fix this problem even temporarily or permanently.
All help is appreciated.
Regards,
Vijay Pather.

this will remove only apps installed from the market and third party apps also your contacs it will not remove your photos videos and music from your sd card you can to make a backup from your contacts this way go to contacts push menu-import/export-export to sd card it will create a vcard in your sd for restore follow the same steps contacts-import/export-import from sd card and for your aplications you can use appmonster free from the market is very intuitive just select the app and it will shows a window and then select backup to sd remember the hard reset will not erase nothing in your sd card i hope that solves your problem
im having the same problem. i wasnt able to recieve any text messages, but the thing is, text is completely lost. its getting me pissed.
So does anyone know if I can reset the network cause if I put my sim into another phone it still won't receive them!

Have u checked the messaging number used by your sim card to send and recieve messages. I some how managed to mess mine up. But by putting the sim in a mobile broadband dongle on the correct network it allowed me to change the number saved on the sim card back to the correct message centre.

[Q] Can not recieve SMS, Can send

I'm unable to recieve SMS messages. I can't receive them under any circumstances. I'm currently on shostock2, but I've also tried Aberration and no luck there either.
As said, I can't receive messages, but I can send them. I also am able to use the data connection and make/receive calls.
The things I've tried are:
Delete mms app data
delete all messages
Send myself a message (doesn't receive)
Tried GO SMS app
Made sure auto receive is on in app
Factory Reset ROM
Flash another ROM
Tried the newest Siyah kernel
Also I've contacted ATT and went through the troubleshooting steps they want wanted. I obviously don't know what they were trying on their end, but nothing was working there either. They gave me a resolution date of the 22nd, which is a bit longer than I'd like to wait.
So, any ideas folk? I'd really like to get messaging back!!!
Full wipe + format system + format data.
Don't restore from TiBu.
And try...

Had the same issue earlier. What worked for me was taking out the sim and putting it in a different phone real quick then swap it back in. When I rebooted I had all my messages. Hope this helps

[Q] cannot send texts, make calls, or recieve calls

After installing the new beastmode kernel unsuccessfully and installing the crpalmers kernel that I was successfully running, my phone stopped being able to receive or make calls or send texts. However, I was still able to receive texts. I was running superhatka 2.1 and tried installing my backup to fix the issue, but the issue is still here. I tried installing the new superhatka 3.0.3. But the issue is still here, no calls or texts and texts report error code : 65535. FYI my data still works as well as the voicemail notification but I can't make the call to check the voicemail. I've searched the internet's for help and only found a couple similar problems, but no solutions. Tomorrow I'll take it into Verizon for a new SIM to try that (seems like the Verizon peopel are always more clueless than I am though haha). Anyone else having this problem? Or anyone have ideas for a fix?
There are similar issues like this all over this forum that I have read. One solution one person did was install the stock kernel and install a clean rom and his calling was fixed. Never heard the texting issue but I would try this before a replacement sim. Flash a clean rom and the stock kernel and see how it goes. Be sure to report back to us to see if this works out for you.

Thanks for a quick response! I did see a few similar issues, but none that were receiving texts I think. Anyways, I just clean flashed the new superhatka 3.0.3 which now has the ota kernel which is the new stock I think so I think I have basically flashed stock kernels since I can't flash the pre ota stock kernel without reverting to an older baseband right?
Also the dialer isn't force closing. I just tried to make a call and it Said something like "call origination failed due to immediate signal loss." I looked this up and saw found that people with this issue had towers down in their area, but I have been using another phone without issue so I don't believe that's the case. My mobile internet works fine unlike others with the same signal loss message
Fixed
Took it into verizon and it took them about a half hour and 2nd level tech support to refresh all service connections with the phone on their end. Problem fixed now
Yeah that happened to me when I ran a samsung continuum as my daily phone I flashed a new leak and my data was gone they had to get me to level 2 support and refresh to get my data. I'm glad that was all they had to do and you didn't need to get a replacement. Glad to hear your back up!

My Xperia Z2 suddenly cannot make or receive calls unless i'm on GSM

Hey Guys,
Desperate lurker here saying First of all thanks for all the guides and everything that the devs and everyone that the community has done. I've search all of google and xda but i can't seem to figure out what's wrong with me Xperia Z2 .D6503
. T mobile carrier.
Basically since yesterday, I noticed that my phone couldn't receive or make any phone calls. but data internet, wifi internet and text messaging was working fine. Whenever people call me, i would just get a voicemail notice. At the time I was on the Marshmallow Existence rom. Ive done a lot of troubleshooting since then and still I can only make a call on GSM Mode.
Here's what i've done.
Wiped data and "reset" my phone on the Existence ROM - didn't work.
Wiped everything and flash Resurrection ROM - didn't work still.
Used someone else's sim card , couldn't receive calls either.
Use my sim card on a different phone - that one worked (SO IT'S NOT THE SIM CARD'S FAULT)
Placed back my sim card in the Z2 and reset flashed the stock rom from this page https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/stock-t3355768
but that didn't work either.
I've also manually put the Tmobile APN.
Basically calls only work when changing it into GSM mode. but when i put LTE/WCDMA/GSM. Calls made under LTE/WCDMA/GSM Won't even make a dialtone when I make a cal. It basically just ends after a few seconds
I'm starting to think it might be a hardware issue because no matter which ROM i put, no matter how many factory resets and data wipes i've done. I can only make calls on GSM Mode.
Does anyone have any other ideas or should I just cry and buy a new phone.?
I suggest you to flash your phone with flashtool v0.9.18.6 and flash 291 ftf and wipe all
@whatsadophone
Have you try resetting APN for your SIM card when on your device?
thanks to everyone who tried to help. I don't know what happened. but after i tried putting the sim back in the Z2 to check my signals using Signal Spy, It suddenly can use LTE again. Only problem is since i installed that stock ROM, I lost my recovery mode and can't get it back. But i wont push my luck and just keep it like it is till i buy a new phone.

No sound on VoLTE and automatical hang-up on WiFi Calling

Unlocked phone on T-mobile, US.
I'm not sure when this gets started, but I've noticed it after the April update. When on VoLTE, there's no sound for incoming or outgoing calls. When on WiFi Calling, it auto hangs up as soon as the call is picked up.
Any input is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I had an issue recently where all calls I made (wifi calling or though the stock dialer app) would auto hangup and never go through. Incoming calls seemed to work fine though.
I did a factory data reset and set everything up back from scratch, that was the only way to fix it. This maybe something worth trying if you haven't done it already.
If you do a restore of any backup data (i.e. smartswitch, google backup) I would suggest using the google backup and not the smartswitch this time. I made a smartswitch backup before the factory data reset, but ended up not being able to use it. Everytime I did a restore with the backup the same thing would happen. I had no problems with the google backup.
Also if the problem persists (or if you opt to do so anyways, maybe worth trying anyways) I would call T-Mobile support and ask them if there are any problems or etc. It maybe possible they are working on the towers near you, as one time my service was being a little quirky and it was due to them doing some low/mid band additions on nearby towers. They may just need to refresh your phone on there end or send you a replacement sim card in case a problem exists with the one you have..

Thank you so much for the input! I'm going to factory reset this evening. And if it still persists probably call Tmo. But I guess the chance is low, my other device works just fine with Tmo (both wifi calling and volte)
Let's see! Have a good one!
