Hi guys,
Background:My streak came with 347 ROM.
I've been jumping back and forth between the custom ROMs without any problems.
But problem arises when I try to flash 360 ROM. I'd flash 360 recovery and flash the 360 update.pkg. But then it restarts and get stuck on the Dell logo screen. (
When I plug out the battery and restart the phone, it initiates emergency recovery and goes into 347 recovery. :S Not sure why/how it can revert to 347 recovery even though i flashed 360 recovery just a short while ago.
And retried this with several other stock ROMs, even 345 as well. Same story, will get stuck in Dell logo screen. :s
Any one who can help?
Managed to stumble upon an answer to the problem I was having.
What I did to solve this:
Flash stock 360 recovery
Reboot
Hold Volume buttons
Option 2 - Recovery mode
Install stock 360 rom.
Fastboot
Flash streakmod
Hold Volume buttons
Option 2 - Recovery mode
wipe cache partitions and dalvik cache
Reboot
Hold Volume buttons
Option 1 - Factory Reset
and then 360 loads up nice and clean.
Even though you've fixed it:
It takes ages to boot up for the first time. Are you sure you left it long enough?
Dikos,
I thanked you on your meter. I've wasted countless hours on this. Was able to get to 407 olleh once by accident. Flashed recoveries, basebands, update.pkgs at least 50 times. Even did QDL to 305. Was able to switch to 360 stock in 5 minutes using the above method. Do you have to use streakmod clear cache/ dalvik every time, or just to get out of the 347? I'm sure I'll figure that out soon enough, dont really like the 360 rom that much, lol.

Yessir, a couple of hours at times waiting for something else to appear apart from the Dell logo, but no luck. But yeah, the first boot does take longer, that I'm aware of.
Though, I would think that wiping dalvik and cache partition PRIOR to flashing stock recovery and stock ROM "should" result in the same outcome, but I've not succeeded.

Glad it helps others facing the same issue. The clear cache/dalvik was done just once, after fresh installs of ROM just to get out from 347.

Good to know, I switched back to 407 with the above method. No problems.Maybe the mods can sticky this answer for the 347 stock roms

OK i have to say i m not a noob anymore. And i m pretty confident.
Having said I am coming from Vegan 5.1 and tried many times to download the new Vegan Ginger. But each time I got stuck at the "birds" screen.
And yea I do all the same steps for when i was ROMing to Vegan 5.1
So my questions are: why isn't it working this time?
Do i have to be on Stock Rom for it to work?
Any suggestion?
Thank you
Its always a good idea to start from stock and then going to custom rom. I suggest you use nvFlash to go back to stock, then flash cwm .8 and then try to follow your steps to install it.
enjoy
Best way to flash a new rom is to fully wipe data cache dalvik ect ect do that in cwm then install zip from disk. Works every time and usely it take like ten minites to fully install. If you need help just look around or ask.
Good luck
Awessssoooommmee
You guys are awesome
I just Nvflash and Install the ginger edition easily
Thank youuuuu
I'm having the exact same problem. Even fully wipe data, cache and davik does not help.
I noticed that, when ClockworkMod Recovery showed that it was installing update, the progress bar stayed grey, not changing or moving at all.
Guess I'll have to try nvflash.
Yeah do that

Yea do that, cause it looks like this ONLY works on stock rom. And after that just do your usual process, and you should be good.
Everything went so well that my first boot took less than a minute
For the past 6 hours i've been trying to load a custom flash on the vibrant, i tried simple honey and vibrace and always have same problem. The installation seems to go fine but after reboot I cannot get passed the lock screen as i get spammed with errors that need forced closing, the thing is i can see things working good in the back ground, from what i read online about the errors, it has something to do with fonts and templates.
I need help as im going crazy, this is stressful . Btw I flash through the recovery method and i downgrade to 2.1 every time i try to do it over. If needed ill redo another one just to take pics of the error messages. Thanks
edit:
heres a screen
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
reboot into recovery and wipe data/fact reset
wipe cache
i have tried that and nothing happens, still get the errors at the lock screen, can't drag the puzzle piece or the screen to unlock because of constant force close pop ups
factory reset go into Mounts and format system, then reflash the rom over itself, most of those roms require you be on a Gingerbread OS prior to installation.
Ok, thank you i got it to finally work with your help, was about to start pulling my hair out.
i had the same issues..
my remedy
Odin to stock JFD...
flash GB boot loaders
Flash SH via Odin
wait 15 mins
Flash SH 5.0 and you should be good to go...
TLDR = Flashed new rom, can't boot into recovery or anything, not sure where to go from here.
I'll start off by saying that I am fairly new to this, but have flashed several roms over this past year, but I have limited knowledge when it comes to problems.
The other day I decided I was going to flash from a CM9 rom back to a gingerbread based one so a couple apps I use wouldn't crash so much. Minor thing in the grand scheme of things, but didn't think much of it. So I booted into recovery, cleared my cache, wipe/factory reset, then flashed Neutrino's rom.
I am currently running, what I believe is the standard version of CWM. The rom I tried to flash states to use Rom Racers recovery, but did read in the thread that some had flashed it with the one I am using.
Flash went fine (to my knowledge), then when I went to reboot, it just boot loops at the "Dual Core" screen. So I was thinking something got messed up, I'll just boot back into recovery, try one more time, and if it doesn't work, then consider other options from there. All I have done is flash a rom, and I was thinking that it shouldn't effect my recovery in any way. Am I wrong in thinking that?
I have been unable to boot into Recovery, Fastboot, nvflash, or any other option that I am presented with. Holding the Volume up and Power results in "Starting RSD Protocol Support" and it just sits there.
Booting with the Volume Down and Power, I am able to cycle through Fastboot, and a couple other options. Once I select any of them, the screen displays "Starting such and such protocol support" and sits there the same as well.
What shall I attempt to see if I can get it back into a recovery so I can flash just the most stock based ROM for the chance to potentially sale the device?
Do you mean you flashed with the recovery that came on the phone when you say standard recovery?

It's running Clockwork recovery version 5 something. Rom Manager said it was the latest version of it. It's one I flashed a long time ago and haven't touched the recovery portion in quite some time.
Sounds like you're just semi-bricked, search Semi brick fixes.
Thanks for the direction. I was finally able to get it running with a CM9 mod, still no luck on Neutrino's, it just bootloops and the Unlocked Dual Core screen. Not a big deal really, but it's up and running.
Ok so I rooted and RoM'd my phone a long time ago with Cherryblur which apparently is no longer supported or updated. It has been so long that I forgot what I did and did not do to get cherry on it. Yesterday I spent most of the day researching how not to brick my phone. Today after doing everything I could find, I am stuck at the motorola screen. It is unlocked on the moto screen, has fastboot and adb installed, I can get into recovery and what seems to successfully recover the cherryblur install just results in a bootloop at the custom animation that is past the motorola screen.
I was trying to flash CM7 (tried neutrino as well) non nightly when this happened. After spending all day on here bouncing around while I was at work I found a fruitcake that seems to be the only thing that will allow my phone to boot which of course I cannot send the link to. Its titled [Fruit Cakes] XDA Re-Release [feb\18\2012] if you need to see it. What am I missing, I have clearly searched and searched these great forums (I do love to research, but find I'm at an impasse now) and am not sure what I need to do to proceed. That fruitcake updated my phone to 4.5.91 and I'm pretty sure I was 4.5.2 from the Cherryblur previously.
Thanks for any help!
Update: After getting fruitcake to work, I figured maybe this fixed my previous issues and tried to install CM7 again. Same story, not moving past the first Moto screen. So I tried recovery of the fruitcake and now the M screen comes up, waits a bit, then looks like it's going to load and starts to flash for about a second on, then off for 2-3, then on and so forth. I reflashed fruitcake after this and it is still working as a new install.
You are probably only softbricked. Do you know what "recovery" software you are using? If you are using romracers or one of the better respected recovery software packages, you should be able to use fastboot (if you have a windows machine) to wipe the relevant partitions on your phone and start again. Essentially, you will want to reinstall cherryblur (or install a new ROM - Neutrino, Nottachtrix, CM9s are all excellent) from your sd card. To do this, you will boot to fastboot and run "fastboot -w" from your pc. Then boot to recovery, and wipe cache, and dalvic for good measure, then install cherryblur or another package from the zip file. This will hopefully square you away and get rid of the boot loops.
My guess is that you did not wipe your partitions completely before attempting a new install, and may be having problems with ext3 vs. ext4 formatting between rom versions. Good luck to you.
Thank you for the reply!
Originally I'm pretty sure it was CWM, through the process of backing stuff up I installed Rom Toolbox from market and that seemed to have changed something? (Not sure here...) The text changed color from what I thought was white to blue and it looked a tiny bit different. The only thing I did not do was the fastboot -w, but I did download the link from [Batch] FFW - Fastboot Full Wipe and ran the fastboot from there, which was supposed to do a full wipe from what I read. Fastboot was previously installed on the phone.
I downloaded the 1.1 version which apparently may not be able to wipe the webtop, though when watching the text during the wipe it seemed to go through. Would you recommend me going to romracers, is it possible that my recovery software is borked somehow or just not compatible with the newer roms? If I got to RomRacer will the process of doing that just get rid of the current recovery software I have on the phone or will I run into issues? As far as the dalvik and cache I did run those, though the instructions for the CM7 said to do that after the install which felt backwards....
Oh yes, and I can't reinstall cherryblur, that rom is gone - you can't even download it anymore. I am doing this because I recently purchased a lapdock and the cherryblur was not doing so hot on it so looking to install a good clean rom (with a nice GUI) that works well on the lapdock as well. Yes, I will put an OC'd kernel on it as well, battery life has never been more than a day on my current rom and I am reading that the newer ones have over 1 day life on them so you could say I'd be used to the battery drain on the 1.3 kernels.
I see...that's frustrating. I think given your situation, I would probably not attempt to go from Blur to CM (at least while attempting to get the phone running again). If I were in your shoes, I would do the following...other more knowledgeable folks may steer you in varying directions, but I have been in your shoes before, and this should work. I am assuming you have use of a PC...if not, this won't be helpful.
1. Install ROMRacers recovery using these instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1204500
2. Download Nottachtrix 1.3.1 to your SD card using your PC if necessary, and you will probably want to download the webtop 2.3.6 at the same time. These can be found here: http://www.nottachtrix.com/forum/
3. Boot into fastboot (hold volume down on power up, until fastboot appears, then hit volume up, and use a DOS prompt to do the fastboot commands through the USB on your PC), and do a fastboot -w, then fastboot -reboot.
4. This time boot into recovery by holding volume down on powerup, and hitting volume down seven times (I think) until you see the word recovery, then hit volume up.
5. Use recovery to wipe cache partition, then go to advanced and wipe dalvic cache, and then select factory reset/wipe data. Some of these steps may be duplicative, but I am a belt and suspenders kind of guy.
6. Now go to "install from sd card" and select the Nottachtrix build that you put on your external SD, and make selections using the cool Aroma installer. Once this installs, you can install the newer 2.3.6 webtop (if you need it).
7. Reboot when complete, and you should have the latest stock build in working order, and then you can repeat the process to install Neutrino, CM9 or whatever. Feel free to fire back any questions.
Good luck to you, and if this helps, please hit the "thanks" button!
Ill give this a shot when I get home, darn work blocking the download links for mediafire..... The fruitcake is driving me nuts, no notification bar (my biggest complaint) unless I use ADW launcher, which has for some reason no way for me to get into my texts..... Broken apps, and a real stock feel that is just making me grit my teeth lol.
Can't wait to have a nice ROM on my phone again. Glad the fruitcake got me back up and functional though!
So far so good! Had the notification bar problem like others with the 2.3.6 issue and found that fix (disable email notifications....). When / if I can 'thank' I will! And will keep you updated when I get the time to flash another rom.
Good news that you are back rolling again. Let the ROM flashing addiction continue
So, CM7 is pure sexy - and an OC'd kernel to 1.3 makes me so happy in both CM7 and Nottachrix. Wish I would have done it sooner, I wouldn't have been spending so much time searching for a new phone because my atrix was annoyingly laggy. Lag? What is that? Also, undervolting is AMAZING for battery life, for the first time since owning the phone I did not plug it in last night and even though my usage was in the light to medium area, im still at 66% after 22 hours off charger ! Can't wait to play with CM9.
Hi,
Issue: After system loads (I get to see launcher/sim unlock screen), couple of seconds later streak reboots. At the same time, leds swich off, than flash and reboot starts.
What I tried (almost all combinations of below points):
restore to factory settings
different roms: DSC v2.3, PCM7-Streak, Mokee OS, Longhorn 2.9.3, some ICS rom
custom recovery images: ClockworkMod 6.0.1.2, StreakMod 0.3.2.8
stock roms with corresponding recovery 366, 360, 369, 406, 407
user QDL tool from streakflash.zip/repairtool.zip do recover to Baseband GAUSB1A130500
booting without sim/SD cards
Things to note:
For flashing I have followed the procedure to wipe data, cache, dalvik, fix permissions, dell factory reset.
In the past I had not issues flashing DSC, PCM7-Streak and other roms.
When booting into service mode? (camera+power button, *#301# code) phone passed all tests (including Internal SD card).
Tests performed with two original dell batteries (one bought 8 months ago, barely used).
Batteries fully charged.
Same issue experienced with custom and stock roms.
The issue started after flashing one of the roms (DSC v2.0 probably).
To be honest I run out of ideas. Please tell me if I missed something?
You didn't say which ROM you were currently running. In any event, it doesn't appear you missed anything. I believe you should try flashing the ROM you're using again. It's possible you got a bad flash, in which case one of the files got corrupted on transfer.

Thanks for advise.
I have tried starting with with 305 from repairtool.zip working my way up through 360, softbank and Olleh. Stopping at each step and flashing ClockworkMod + DSC. Same applies to any updates to each of mentioned custom roms.
The only thing that I know I could have checked better is the internal SD, just a moment ago found a neat way to get to the Internal SD - http://youtu.be/6w4AbtIGp8A. I might give it a try.
