My contract was up in July but until now there haven't been any phones worth buying. Now the RAZR is out and the Nexus is coming. My phone is literally falling apart and doesn't charge anymore, I have to the wife's phone to charge my battery.
I went and looked at the RAZR and I was really impressed. I liked it a lot but I'm still not sure I want it more than the Nexus.
Do any of you guys have buyers remorse? Do you wish you had held out for the nexus? Originally I thought the nexus would be out by now and I would simply be able to compare the two devices, but now its not clear if the Nexus will be out before december and I really don't think my phone will make it that long.

You can buy it now (Nov. 15th-Dec. 28th) and be able to return it until Jan. 9th. If the Galaxy Nexus comes out by then, I'm probably going to return the Razr because of the Super AMOLED HD screen and Ice Cream Sandwich. Gonna miss the build quality though, Samsung and their plastic, lol.
I would never go back to a Samsung again, ever, if at all possible. Had the fascinate & had so many missed call issues that vzw gave me the Droid x2 as a free upgrade only 9mos into my contract w/o interfering with my last yearly upgrade eligibility. The x2 has been flawless & the only reason I cashed in my upgrade was because my wife's Dinc crapped out & she loved my x2, so she has that now & I have the Razr & everyone's happy.
Seriously though, if you are in any type of marginal signal area & you need your phone to be a phone, I'd go Razr.

Went from BB to Fascinate to ThunderBolt to Razr. I really like the weight and thin ness of the Razr. I prefer the size of the Fascinate as it is overall smaller but thicker.
No remorse, love the phone.
Totally loving this phone, had it yesterday. I have nothing really as a downside, had an Xperia X10 before so I feel like this phone is way more snappy and quick than the other! I chose it because I have no idea when the Galaxy Nexus will come to Canada and we get the candies always late lol. Now once it's in Canada, I have to wait for Rogers to get it.. so probably the Ice Cream Sandwich update will be out at this time for the RAZR. Totally not regretting my choice!
Came from Droid X to Razr, I would never look back. I just rooted it with zero issues! No citation roms yet but that's ok, this phone is crazy fast and so thin! Yes, battery life is not great but hey, its 4G LTE!

so far the only thing holding me back from buying the razr is the screen. I want to know how it compares to other screens, especially the new HTC <stupid name I can't remember but has something to do with audio>. I heard HTC has a very impressive screen.
compared to the other current phone , razr's screen can't really compete in terms of ppi.
What I want to know is if this is really something I would notice or should care about?

You mean HTC ReZound??
Yea, this is the highest DPI out in the market. BUT, HTC is infamous for giving a very high dpi with an equally bad battery life... the HTC Desire (or was it Desire HD?) needs to be charged at least twice a day...no matter what others say, thats bad...

The reviews of the Rezound for the "HD" screen states theres not much difference between its screen and the RAZRs screen. Also its like 13.7 mm thick, so it's your choice on what you want to do.
well, i regret buying the razr because for some reason my razr has the green tint problem on low brightness, and black spots inside the screen when viewing something black, maybe a defective screen or a pre-release model, but sent it in to motorola to check it out, but other than that, if it was a pre-release, its a perfect phone.
as far as the ppi goes, its more than anyone needs, honestly, the only ppl who care about ppi vs ppi are spec whores, this phone is great and gives ppl the ;'wow'factor, and makes the iphone4s boys go jealous =p
CanI ask why screen res and ppi is really that important? Movies and games look perfect to me on the gaint razr screen and crappy on the tiny retina iphone screen.

Coming from an Atrix 4G, no regrets. This is super fast, thin, stylish, strong and yet feels like a feather.
Looked at a Rezound next to my Razr at a vzw store yesterday & I feel totally vindicated for buying the Razr. The difference in ppi was not immediately noticeable under normal lighting & text looked fine on both. The color reproduction on the Razr's amoled screen was better & it was brighter overall @ low brightness. What got me was how much snappier the Razr seemed. Ran smartbench 2011 on each & the Razr scored better as well. The Rezound looks like a bigger Incredible2 & doesn't have the heft of the Tbolt or Evo.

Your screen shouldn't have a green tint, I'd look into getting a replacement. AS for the black "blotches" during load screens and some black screens that has been confirmed as "normal" per motorola. They stated it will not get in the way of your viewing pleasure. I've only had the black blotches on like scene changes in some netflix movies/load screens. So really it's not a big deal at all, as it doesn't interfere with anything. If you see it all the time, then it just reaffirms that you have a defective screen.

Rezound benches lower than RAZR on pretty much every test. Even in everyday performance RAZR > Rezound. Rezound gets choppy/laggy with live wallpaper, slapped some on my RAZR and no choppiness at all. I guess that's why they added the $100 headphones with it! To make up for the poor performance in todays smartphone market.
How is the thickness from left to right of the screen? Is it as hard to hold as some of the reviews are saying? Do any of you have a case on it, I would think that would make it even wider.
It is pretty wide. I just got mine today. Thought I'd try it out, see how development progresses for the first month or so, and see how the Nexus pans out in real life. The Verizon extended return period really helps.
But, like I was saying, it's pretty wide. I have a case on it - the kickstand case/holster combo from vzw - because I want it to be in good shape if I decide to return. It's slightly wider with the case, but even naked, I have a hard time reaching down to the menu button. That's the one that seems to be hardest to me. Other than that one button, it feels good in the hand and I can touch the rest of the screen.
Thanks, I always need a somewhat thick case on my phone so I don't think the Razr will work for me. Appreciate the feedback. I'll probably end up going with the nexus even though it is a fairly wide phone it self...
Just got mine, it is wide, if you have McD's hands then yea you will have a hard time, even though I got Burger King hands this phone took a lil to get used too. Once you hold this phone you don't want to put it down. My wifes ryme feels like a brick compared to this machine, in fact every phone feels heavy. Was waiting for the G-Nex but really happy with the Razr. One bug found so far, nothing major. This thing is FAST!!! Waiting to root, but even w/o root it's still fast. Motorola did a good job with this one.
After reading positive comments on the Rezound, I figured I better try one side by side with my Razr. That experiement lasted 48 hours. Here are some very brief comparisions.
Battery: I have to say my Razr has better overall life. Not hours and hours better, but better.
Screen: Many may disagree, but the Razr screen is better. The Rezound is too dim for my liking.
Speed & Performance: The Razr wins again, hands down. The Rezound didn't really have lag, but more of a choppy behavior. There was something off with the touch sensitivity on the rezound. Everything seemed to jump around and didn't flow like the Razr.
Weight and Size: Razr wins again. The Rezound feels very 2010ish. The Razr just feels nice in my hand. The Rezound is too heavy after having the Razr for two weeks.
Radio: My experience shows better signal strength with the Razr. Inside a building Saturday, the Rezound had less signal strength. The Rezound also had less call quaility.
Build: After holding both, and using both, the Razr is a much better build phone. No comparision.
nice comaprison, good, clear and clean.
Just a question, was there a very obvious screen reso difference?
Having used both, I have to say I didn't notice the resolution increase for the Rezound's screen (they're both a pretty high ppi, and the res on the RAZR is still high for it's size, though it's not 720p). I really noticed the contrast on the RAZR vs. the Rezound, and I've always liked sAMOLED over SLCD for that very reason. In my opinion, the superior screen tech (sAMOLED) wins out easily over the slight resolution bump on the Rezound.
That's known: Motorola's build quality and signal strength will beat up everything.
I said it before and now again. Razr all the way, day&night. After all it is just a s3 quallcomm phone ugly&fat.

Truthfully, after using it for 48 hours and then switching back to the Razr, it was a joy to see the Razr screen. I can't see the res difference as all it did for me was make things smaller.

I have the feeling screen resolution is marketting one-upmanship and what really matters is screen quality. A worse screen is still worse at higher resolution.

I have one of each here. The Rezound has never dropped 4G in my house and shows a signal of -85db to -89db. The Droid Razr shows a lower 4G signal of -96db to -98db, and a few times an hour will drop 4g and change to 3g for a few minutes before switching back. The Bionic here does the same thing. In fact I've tested every Verizon 4G phone and they all will occasionally go between 4g and 3g here except for the Rezound. I've heard the reason why is that its using a much larger antenna on the battery cover and a higher mW on the antena.

is there a review on this?
i own the rezound and the razr and i guess i am just odd because i couldn't disagree more with OP. Battery on the rezound is light years beyond the razr. The screens, when both on max bright are equal to me. The rezound feels fantastic in the hand, the razr feels pointy/boxy. The rezound feels extremely high quaility as well, however the razr is clearly the winner here. The beats headphones speak for themselves The bezel on the razr makes it look silly to me, but thats a personal preference i guess. The rezound has a MUCH better antenna. Better reception and never drops 4g.. EVER. Last and certainly not least, the camera. The rezound has zero shutter lag and takes pictures that so far ahead of the razr its sad. I really hope some fixes come soon for that.
All in all i feel like its no contest but both devices are nice for sure

...there is no way in hell.
Rezound has a 384 MHZ faster processor of the same brand, a higher GPU clock, a smaller battery, brighter screen brightness settings, and probably lots more. I don't buy that for a second.

hmm..I thought the Rezound utilized a qualcomm SOC whereas the RAZR is TI..TI is known for better battery management, and in this case it should be speedier too (cortex A8 vs A9 - Qualcomm has to make up for lower IPC by jacking up the clock speed).
Here's why I'm most likely sticking with the RAZR:
1) I like the WebTop functionality
2) Qualcomm's current SOC's are the weakest around
3) I hate Sense
4) I'm sick of HTC's crappy driver coding (my last phone was a Sensation)
Perhaps I'll move to the Galaxy Nexus..but I'm not even considering the Rezound. Glad to hear HTC got their antenna's working well though - the Sensation had it's own "antennagate"..
Returned my rezound for battery issues and over heated,so Im going to take a better look at the raze but I still got that nexus on my mind

The Rezound has a Snapdragon S3 and the RAZR has the OMAP 4430 different SoC entirely. Better graphics on the Rezound, actually more efficiency on the RAZR with a more advanced Cortex CPU.

Why would you? Razr's thin and cool looking. Other than that, they are the same phone. What I want to know is what do you want? Have you played with a Rezound? Do you like it better? Then go swap them out. You only get 14 days, though, so don't waste time waiting on us to make your mind up.

Sounds like you already had in mind what you wanted, and just wanted us to reassure you
I had the rezound for 2 months, and the Maxx for 2 weeks.
The Rezound with the extended battery is ALOT heavier (to me) then the Razr Maxx, but im sure you know this.
The Rezound's screen is quite a bit sharper and nicer, but I'm sure you know this too
I find the Maxx to have a bit less lag. The Maxx's camera is a tad bit worse in lower light situations.
I wear semi loose clothes ie relaxed jeans, baggy khaki's etc. The fiancee is trying to get me into more form fitting stuff. What am I getting at ? Well in normal jeans (not baggy) the rezound left a hump in my pants, and when I held it in my hands I felt as if it was a brick after a while. To some they love how it feels, but to me, it got old quick.
The Razr Maxx is so much more up my alley. I've got used to the display and camera just fine. I don't miss the rezound at all. The Maxx has given me better call quality, and better reception / 4g. Mind you, this is just from my experience, and you experience may vary. I went through 3 Rezounds due to hardware issues, call problems, etc.
The Rezound got hotter quicker, and longer than the Maxx. I got over 50+ hours on the max, and half that on the rezound with roughly the same use (2750 mah vs 3300 mah on the max i believe).
Now if you have the normal Razr, and your plans is the Rezound with the standard battery, then you will gain a better camera, better screen, and i'd say a bit worse battery life.
Just my personal opinion. I was an HTC person for a few years, but after my Rezound problems, i'm a Motorola guy, for now.

You can find info on this everywhere. I owned the Beats Phone for 2 months. My extra input is that the Beats integration did not make much of a difference to me, I mainly use internet radio. I can talk into my phone with my Bose headphone s for a conversation and you could not with the rezound.have to us an inline mic. bluetooth navigation with the droid roadster always came on in the middle of the spoken sentance with thte rezound. the rezound never understood what I was saying while texting with speech, the motorola does. nobody have ever told me they cant understand me on the RAZR. always on the rezound. Earpiece much clearer on the Razr. the Razr actually charges in the car dock; rezound=not. bigger battery in the Maxx. I miss the rezound camera and emergency battery swap if needed. but I have not charged my battery on the RAZR for 24 hours and am at 70%. It may be the recent updates, but my experience with the RAZR MAXX has been much better thatn the two RAZRs i owned before the Rezound.

I keep seeing people make comments about spots on the razr's screen, and also crosshatching. I've been looking close and studying the screen on mine and it is just plain beautiful. I see no spots or pixelation, so I don't know, maybe they are not all the same or maybe I'm just not seeing it.
Coming from the Rezound to the Razr Maxx it's a whole lot better, the sound on Maxx is way better then the Beat's on the Rezound. I'm not much of a camera guy so i really don't mind it on the Maxx but my favorite of it all is the battery life and how thin my phone is without an extended battery in it.

There are "spots" on mine, but it's not that bad and the update has mostly fixed it.
I would go for the maxx.
Hi, I recently dropped my One X+ which has chipped the glossy coating off the power button and cracked the screen (also affecting the LCD), I actually see this as a good opportunity to experiment with the screen. I was wondering whether the screen connector is the same as the original One X and if it would be possible to upgrade the screen to an original One X display which was roughly 25-30% brighter and had more balanced colours (the One X+ display is yellowish in comparison). Also I know that the One X has multiple display manufacturers, where can I purchase the bright Acer screen?

I can understand why you would think that, the One X+ actually has a very good display just not as good as the original international One x (maybe I should have stated that previously), The at&t model had the sony screen which was about the same as the One X+ screen, a tad yellow and around 400 nits bright, the international One X had the acer display, colder but overall more balanced, saturation was better and the brightness was around 550 nits, you can actually check on gsmarena for the exact specs. I compared with one of my relative`s original One X and there is a definite difference in brightness
